@tnh0413 oof, that is tough. But there is hope! I felt the same way watching our number go from 18 eggs, to o my 10 mature, to 6 fertilized... Fx for a promising day 3 report! I agree with @dragonette505 is there any way to consider a day 3 fresh tansfer??? I will always wonder if more or ours might have made it if we didnt have to take them all the way to day 5 to freeze.... (((hugs))) stay strong. ❤

We got 3 to freeze!!!! What a miracle! It's hard knowing there's three we lost for the three we have, but we will try to focus on the positive now, and we are so grateful!!!

I still plan on FET. My RE recommends that vs. fresh transfer even if not doing PGS -- she says giving the body time to recover, the hormone levels to stabilize, etc.
I would be stoked if these 3 make it! I just keep thinking in the back of my head what she told me in our initial consultation of "out of those that fertilize, we expect about 1/3 to make it to the blastocyte stage" ... which would put us at one. This weekend is going to be a LONG one waiting lol.
I'm glad you ladies understand all of this! Definitely makes it easier talking to someone who knows! ***TW**** my BFF had a beautiful baby about 6 months ago and just told me surprise! she is pregnant again ... while not trying .. WHILE using condoms... and while I'm so happy for her, it's like did you HAVE to tell me you got pregnant while using condoms? jesus christ! She knows everything we are doing and it's just frustrating that she didn't think enough to maybe keep that piece of info from me .. UGH ***end TW***
I truly believe that everything is in god's time for us, and I'm just trying to keep remembering that.

@BusinessWife That's so awesome!!!! YAAAAY! @tnh0413 For sure it can be better to do FET's but its still something to consider. I am doing another cycle after this and I would like to do a fresh transfer that cycle if possible. My doc is open to it if I want to (even though she said FET's are better for the body). If you prefer FET's then lets just keep our fingers crossed that these little guys make it to blast!!
@tnh0413 I hope this encourages you, we have MFI as well, poor motility, poor morphology, and high DNA fragmentation. We had 4 eggs that fertilized with ICSI and 3 made it to the expanded blast stage!! (we transfered 1 and froze 2) It's so possible to beat the odds, even with MFI, don't lose hope yet!!!

@Momifbysea Happy Birthday! Sorry AF chose to show, but maybe that will be somehow fortuitous?
@tnh0413 I'm sorry for the disappointing news on the fertilization report. Our RE said the same thing re: poor sperm quality affecting fertilization outcomes. They try to pick the best one for each egg but what looks good may still be faulty. Cold comfort, I know, and it sucks a lot because IVF seems like how we can get around MFI and it still comes back to bite us. I hope your three are strong and make it through. FX for you!
@tnh0413 Sorry that only 3 made it but I'm hoping those 3 are strong, healthy embabies and all make it to freeze. Also your friend could have really left out that detail knowing what you are going through. That's one of the hardest parts of dealing with infertility. Working so hard for something that other people get by accident and sometimes don't even want.
@dragonette505 FX for your retrieval tomorrow. Hope all goes well and you get an excellent report afterwards.
So I just got home from my embryo retrieval. The procedure itself went well. We got 6 eggs so we will see what the fert report is like tomorrow. Hoping that all 6 are mature and fertilize and make it to freeze (ugh so many steps where things can go wrong!). And all of our embryos will be frozen on day 2 due to hurricane Irma.
First of all, CONGRATS to those who have received great news this week!!! I'm so incredibly happy for you @ReesaAnne16 and @helloworld9! And I just love that it was such an unexpected surprise for you @helloworld9! It's so crazy that we spend so much time, MONEY and energy on IVF and then when it happens naturally, it makes me wonder if the surprise makes us even more appreciative since we know how hard this all is!
I have been MIA as I unfortunately had severe complications following my retrieval on Tuesday and ended up in the hospital early Wednesday morning. It was horrible -- I have never cried out in pain, but can now say that I have. I knew something was wrong because as the night went on following my retrieval, I couldn't breathe without stabbing pain, and while I had pain following retrievals in the past, this was very different. I contacted the clinic nurse who told me to go to the ER. Unfortunately, I was alone because my DH was about an hour away for work, so I had to call the paramedics to come get me and my DH met me at the hospital. The ER doc there was great - he ordered a CT scan, EKG, ultrasound, etc. It wasn't too busy there (guess 3 am is the time to go!) and apparently, blood had filled up my abdominal cavity from a burst blood vessel near my right ovary. The first dose of dilaudid barely had any effect and the second dose just made me sick. I had a blood transfusion and my RE was able to come to the hospital right away to do the surgery and luckily, he stopped the bleeding and I didn’t lose an ovary, which was a risk he told me prior to the surgery. My RE took some really cool photos during the surgery. I saw my gallbladder, liver, uterus, ovaries, etc. I felt like apologizing to my sweet white ovaries for all that i've put them through;-)
We are consequently taking a break and very seriously rethinking all this IVF stuff. My retrieval did yield 9 eggs, but only 3 fertilized (which was very low fertilization rate for us, and we don't have any MFI, so not sure why this happened, but probably due to egg quality), so I’m not really expecting much out of this cycle. But the important thing is that I’m ok and still have my ovary. Anyway, I thought you all would be interested in the details as IVF patients, but please know that this complication is very rare, so I don't mean to scare you. My RE has only seen this happen once before (also to a doctor's wife!) in the thousands of retrievals he has done. I'm really, really glad he was so responsive and so good at surgery (a lot of REs don't do a lot of surgeries). If we ever do IVF again, this experience with him has made us trust him even more.

@angelbea oh my goodness, I am so happy you are OK!! That is terrifying and It sounds like your RE really is awesome. Also wonderful to hear your ovary is OK!! I hope you get some much needed rest and have a smooth recovery. Also hope your embabies all make to freeze!!!

@angelbea So sorry that happened!! 9 retrieved is not bad, and hopefully your 3 are excellent and you can freeze them! ugh... still it mustve been so scary! Sending hugs!
Jesus @angelbea - that sounds horrible!! I'm so sorry that that happened to you!! IVF is hard enough, without the complications! I'm glad you're ok and hope your family is taking good care of you!!!
@angelbea I can't imagine going through everything that you did, you are so strong! Thank you for sharing your story. In a way we all know there are risks (pregnancy and labor have risks too), but it doesn't really seem true or real... thank you for the reminder, I'm sorry you went through all that.
Praying your 3 embabies grow strong, and you won't even need to consider doing IVF again.

Omg @angelbea that is aweful but I am happy to hear that you are ok and you didn't lose your ovary. That is such a scary thing to go through and you are a strong lady. Take time to rest and recover. I hope you 3 are fighters and make it to freeze as well.
@angelbea OMG I was horrified reading your update!! Thank g-d you're ok and still have your ovary. No one should have to go through these things! And then hearing your fert report I can understand being upset when you got 9. My OH technically doesn't have MFI issues and yet they didn't love the sample he gave on my last batch and 3 made it through....well now its technically none so i guess bad example on my part damn IF!!! Hope you can be home and resting for a few days. Glad your RE was so on top of it that would make me feel better too!
@tnh0413 I know you're disappointed but really hoping these 3 will pull through for you! Its so very hard each step in this grueling process. No reason all can't pull through. They say that about PGS testing too only 1/3 come back...one girl on another thread sent out 8 for pgs and got 7 back and bfp on her first transfer whoah right! Its such a crap shoot.
@BusinessWife YAAAAYYYYY its finally thursday that might be my attitude next week 3 made it thats great!!! One step closer!!
dragonette505 woohoo tomorrow is the big day - can't wait!!!
@safire3 glad the ER went well just so scary having to deal with that on top of IRMA hoping you get a great report tomorrow! Are you doing any testing or straight to FET?

@tnh0413 - I am hopeful for your 3!! Crossing everything for you! And ugh, seriously, friend (or SIL) pregnancy announcements are the WORST. I feel so jealous and then angry at myself for feeling that way.
@BusinessWife - YAY!! Such good news!! So happy for you!
@safire3 - Good luck on the fert report! 6 eggs is great! Hopefully your recovery isn't too long after retrieval.
@angelbea - Thank you! And I know it's so unexpected, I literally cannot find the words to express my feelings and emotions right now. I definitely think that yes, I'm feeling so grateful for this stroke of luck right now. Especially after feeling like it was the end of the world for me just a few months back. And OMG your egg retrieval recovery sounds so awful!! That is so scary and traumatizing. I really hope everything is ok with you now. And yes, there is a risk with IVF and that's the scariest part of it all. I'm so glad you got to the hospital and they were able to take care of you.
AFM, an update from my lab results from today. The clinic says my HCG is >10,000!! That's the highest their machines will read! The doctor put me on Endometrin since my progesterone levels aren't where he wanted them to be. But I will do anything to keep this embryo alive! The ultrasound is dating it to be close to 6 weeks but not quite. They scheduled me in for another checkup next Tuesday. I need a gif that's of me screaming and running around in excitement! I haven't told a soul but you lovely ladies here. I'm just hoping it sticks.

@dragonette505 thinking and praying for you on your big day.
@angelbea I'm sorry you had to go through that pain. I'm glad that you are on your way to recovery now. Please take more rest as you can. And I'm also praying for your 3 embabies.
AFM our dr called yesterday and said our 2 embies didn't make it and I only have 1 frozen one. I'll have FET probably in Oct.
I turned 39yo today. DH gave me a yogurt maker as my present and we went downtown for an Autumn Festival. I ate lots of meat there today.
Happy birthday !!! @tinjp78. Sounds like you had a nice day! :) I'm so sorry your other two didn't make it. But I am excited for you and your precious little frosties to move onto transfer - so soon! ❤
Thanks for all the Congratulations!!!! It's funny tho, while we are happy to have these three little chances, DH seemed more like he was still grieving the three that didn't make it last night, rather than celebrating. It's so tough. He is really uncomdortable with all of this stuff and feels awful that we're even in a position to do ivf in the first place. :/ so it's bittersweet. And we did always want a bigger family. So I mean, if 3 blast = 3 babies maybe we'd be set! But we all know it doesn't. So we shall see if it might make sense to repeat the retrieval afterall, and try to get a few more frozen before moving onto transfer mode... sigh. *typos
OMG @dragonette505 Today's the day!!!!!!!! Let's go get them future-babies!!!! :D. GL!!!!
@BusinessWife I can def relate! My DH took the news hard yesterday that we had 3 fertilized. He keeps apologizing to me about his sperm (lol). He's feeling better today I think.

Hey guys we're are busy preparing for Irma today but we got the call that all 6 eggs were mature and 5 were able to be fertilized with ICSI. Apparently they were all frozen today however because of the storm. That means they were frozen on day 1 and not day 2 like we were initially told. I am worried but also just happy to have 5 embies on ice and we are hoping for the best. We are not doing PGS testing and would have been doing a fresh transfer if not for the storm.
@safire3 that's great news! FX for those frosty embies!! When are you planning for FET?

@tinjp78 yay, happy birthday!!! Yoghurt maker sounds so cool!!! @BusinessWife lol! Hoping my eggs make some future babies too!! @tnh0413 thank you! It sux so much that anyone has to feel sorry about their part in fertility. I feel awful that I'm dragging my husband through this since it's my fault @safire3 wow.... I've been so terrified about this storm. Now that your little embies are safe please make sure you get yourself to a safe place. My mom was in NC (border of SC in western NC) but we flew her back to NY this morning... just don't want to be worried!
AFM: had a really good experience with my retrieval at my new clinic. I feel pretty good. No pain (but I'm sure that's coming later). They got 17 huevos!! So that's great. I won't find out till tomorrow about maturity and of course fertilization. We are doing picsi and icsi. My doc tells me they make a decision on day 3 in case they need to freeze on 3 (which is new to me!!) or 5 if things are going ok.
I had my US yesterday, small cysts remain on both ovaries which is actually a relief because I want a month extra for diet to maybe change my egg quality since that's what they all say it is, it's true and I need to face that. So I'll get my calendar today for round 4! No fun dry heaving this morning from BCP though, hate them!
Good Morning! I am trying to catch up on everyone's latest news. I have been traveling, trying to keep my mind off of things.

@JaeJayStark wow congratulations! This wave of bfps we're having is incredible!!!
@dragonette505 while you were posting I was posting and missed it. 17?!? That is amazing girl!!! How are you feeling? You've gotta be thrilled at that number!
@Momifbysea when do you think you may cycle again? I'll be hopefully going again at some point in October! I am super happy with the number... they kept talking about 15 so anything in excess of that is awesome. Now just nervous about how many mature and fertilized! We always get such a good 3 day report and after that it all goes to hell

@JaeJayStark: Congrats to you!!!! What wonderful news -- enjoy that positive!
AFM: Still recovering and a bit traumatized from my scare -- but mostly emotional about what it likely means for our future. The silver lining today is that I got the report that my 3 little embies are still growing and 2 are "near perfect" (8 cell) so it was certainly nice to hear some good news today.

FET on 7/10/17 Beta on 7/21/17: Negative:( (8/17) ER #3: 9 eggs; 6 mature; 3 fertilized; 1 7-day blast (6BA = abnormal/non-viable) Developed severe complications (abdominal bleeding) following egg retrieval which required hospitalization, transfusion & emergency surgery. Done with IVF.
@angelbea Thank you!!! Did they tell you they thought what happened to you was a fluke? I think it's pretty rare to have issues after retrieval. It may not mean you will have future problems if you needed to do another. Hopefully the next thing you do is a transfer!!!
Re: Anyone doing IVF in July/August?

We got 3 to freeze!!!! What a miracle!

It's hard knowing there's three we lost for the three we have, but we will try to focus on the positive now, and we are so grateful!!!

We had 4 eggs that fertilized with ICSI and 3 made it to the expanded blast stage!! (we transfered 1 and froze 2)
It's so possible to beat the odds, even with MFI, don't lose hope yet!!!

FX for you!
@BusinessWife Woohoo!! 3 to freeze! YAAAAAY!!
I felt like apologizing to my sweet white ovaries for all that i've put them through;-)
Both married for the first time in our 40s; went straight to IVF after multiple fibroid surgeries
(2/17) ER: #1: agonist/antagonist protocol: 19 eggs; 8 mature; 13 fertilized; 1 7-day blast (6BA = abnormal/non-viable)
(4/17) ER: #2: same protocol but stimmed an extra 2 days: 16 eggs; 10 mature (5 more matured in lab); 13 fertilized; 2 6-day blasts (5AA & 6BA) & 2 7-day blasts (6BA & 5BB): only 1 Day 6 6BA tested normal!
FET on 7/10/17
Beta on 7/21/17: Negative:(
(8/17) ER #3: 9 eggs; 6 mature; 3 fertilized; 1 7-day blast (6BA = abnormal/non-viable)
Developed severe complications (abdominal bleeding) following egg retrieval which required hospitalization, transfusion & emergency surgery. Done with IVF.

@BusinessWife YAAAAYYYYY its finally thursday that might be my attitude next week

@helloworld9 that gif is for you.
@tnh0413 and @BusinessWife congrats on your 3 embies! I hope for all the best
@safire3 I'm happy for your successful ER. I hope for good results for your embabies and I'm sorry that Irma is bothering you big time. I'm praying that you'll get more rest and strength during this tough time.

:D. GL!!!!
@tinjp78 so sorry to hear about the two embies. I'm thinking of you and hope the one frozen one will be just perfect!
@helloworld9 yayyyy!!! That's wonderful!!! Happy dance!
@BusinessWife I can def relate! My DH took the news hard yesterday that we had 3 fertilized. He keeps apologizing to me about his sperm (lol). He's feeling better today I think.

@BusinessWife lol! Hoping my eggs make some future babies too!!
@tnh0413 thank you! It sux so much that anyone has to feel sorry about their part in fertility. I feel awful that I'm dragging my husband through this since it's my fault
@safire3 wow....
My doc tells me they make a decision on day 3 in case they need to freeze on 3 (which is new to me!!) or 5 if things are going ok.
happy birthday @tinjp78!
Quick update for me: **TW** I got a BFP HPTtoday on 5dp 5dt. I'm numb and can't really believe it.
Off to my therapist. I need it today.
