@disneyfan0511 ugh the heartburn. At about 6 this morning I had acid reflux. Wtf? I hadn't eaten in 12 hours. It came up and choked me into a coughing fit.
Im 25 weeks and we have been shopping all day. I am exhausted. I wasn't this way with DD this early on but I was last AF too. I just laid around and did whatever. Now I chase a 2 year old.
@kvacmak That is awesome! I wish I had and the slow hair growth instead of looking more and more like a gorilla each day. @MJDsquared i have had a hair growth spurt since the beginning. However the tummy hair thickness increase seems to only have started a few weeks ago. I shaved it yesterday and that seems to have worked out.
I had a contraction scare this morning, every 3 minutes on the dot for close to an hour. I told myself I wouldn't call/go to the hospital until an hour had passed, and sure enough, last one was 5 minutes in between and then they just stopped. Phew! These babies need to cook at least 10 more weeks!!
@dkizz82 that is exactly whats been happening to me! Driving me nuts - I might ask for something stronger than Pepcid. It's really gross and I am having a really hard time sleeping on an incline....
Halfway through the day now my body starts to ache and I get really tired. My body hair seems to be growing at a much faster rate than my head hair, and my fingernails need trimmed at least once a week! The baby kicks, rolls, punches, and flips at night when I go to bed and it tickles and keeps me awake for a while. I'm starting to understand why pregnant women "waddle" - your feet hurt, your lower back hurts, you have to pee and baby is squishng your bladder.....
Despite all this I'm still avoiding a lot of the other icky symptoms so I am grateful for that. I feel bad for the ladies with heartburn and acid reflux or even nausea still, I don't know how you do it! Stay strong
@disneyfan0511 and @dkizz82 heartburn SUCKS. It doesn't matter if I eat at 5pm, 8pm or not at all. Night time heartburn is horrible right now. My mom keeps asking me what I ate but it could eat the blandest things all day and still have the worst heartburn. And now it's more so in the day also! Oy vey! My newest symptom is I've developed some sort of rash behind my knee. It is UNBELIEVABLY itchy at night and I don't know for the life of me what is causing it! I have my OB check up Wednesday so I will bring it up then. And see if I need to go see a dermatologist from there. I know there a different skin issues that can develop with pregnancy, so we will see. Anyone else experiencing rashes? Cool thing this week has been baby hiccuping
Add me to the heartburn/reflux club. This happened last pregnancy but not until much later. I have also (say) noticed a correlation between drinking LaCroix and having worse heartburn. So, no more of that! Anyone found anything that helps? It's keeping me up at night and making me cranky lol.
@ShyTonia sorry to hear you're in the club, it's a not a fun one to be a part of. I'm not help on the rash but I hope it clears up! @kaylawing I've been taking a daily Pepcid and Tums but still having bad heartburn, I'm going to ask my OB for something stronger or other remedies at my next appt.
Ugh, I hope we all find some heartburn relief. I've been taking Zantac 150 twice a day and I also take Mylanta (liquid) when that isn't working. That seems to help, I just hate to take so many meds.
@disneyfan0511@dkizz82@ShyTonia@kaylawing Going along with what @clovelyone said, my OB advised me to take extra strength Zantac twice a day for reflux/heartburn and to avoid Tums, Pepcid, and other other meds that contain calcium carbonate because tey can worsen constipation. I've found the Zantac to be pretty effective. I don't always remember to take it until after my reflux has started, but it usually does a good job of ending it pretty quickly.
So I seem to have developed some weird nipple rage. It's hard to describe, but I not only have occasional shooting pain in my nipples (esp. bad today), but touching them or having them stimulated in any way makes me instantly angry and a little sick to my stomach. It's really bizarre and I'm not enjoying it at all.
Heartburn in full effect, plus sore boobs, bad sleep, and a nice big leg cramp this morning. Chasing my daughter around is definitely wearing me out, too

@kaylawing ughhhh really? I just ordered that drink for the first time. Now I'm nervous to drink it. Lol. I love love ginger ale but never realized it's first ingredient was high fructose corn syrup!! I never started really reading labels or ingredients till my hubby developed UC more seriously. and also now that I'm pregnant. Lol. I was excited to try it. It's the carbonization that causes heartburn?
@ShyTonia I think so? I looked it up after I noticed the correlation, and I've read that it can cause heartburn or make exisiting heartburn symptoms worse. I'm bummed because I was getting sick of water and lacroix was a great way to switch it up. You could try it, maybe it won't cause any issues for you?
Holy pelvic pain/pressure. I sat in a hard chair all day on Thursday while working, and ever since have had the achiest nether regions. None of the descriptions of SPD, pelvic girdle pain, etc. seem to describe it accurately, so I don't really know what it is, but I kinda thought it would've gotten better by now if it was just from Thursday's sitting!
@elcd458 We drove 3 hours for the holiday weekend, and I sat in the back seat with DD. After that, I was really sore. I usually find wearing a support band the next day helps, and for some reason the drive back didn't seem to cause the same issue.

Oy, last night apparently I rolled over on my back for a while, and when I sat up and got up to go pee, I almost passed out! It was really scary. I started feeling faint at my 20 week ultrasound, so I have been avoiding laying on my back for prolonged periods, but I was just zonked last night I guess.
Luckily, my DW woke up and got up to help me out. It was just really scary, took a bit of time lying on my left side to feel okay.
I still feel pretty zonked and a little weak today. I'm going to ask about anemia when I see the midwife tomorrow.
Anyone else experiencing this?

@collectiveliving how scary! I haven't experience this but maybe a pregnancy pillow with two sides (like a snoogle) would help? It would keep you from lying completely flat on your back.
@collectiveliving If you don't have a Snoogle, you can take a thinner pillow or throw pillow and prop it sort of halfway under your back on one side (the right if you can is best, so your body leans left). It's hard to describe but basically when you do that you can lie "on your back" but you're tilted a little to one side gravity-wise. I also do this with the pillow under my belly when I'm lying on my side, so I get the sensation of laying on my stomach even though the pillow acts like a wedge to keep me from rolling fully over.
Thanks @blueskies17 and @elcd458. I do have a Snoogle- but had it in the back room where we have an extra futon. Many nights I've been doing half the night in our more comfy bed with DW, and if I wake up and can't fall asleep I'll go spread out there and don't feel like schlepping the whole pillow arrangement.
I'll also try that pillow arrangement you suggest, @elcd458.

@collectiveliving That is a very scary situation. I tend to feel light headed if I lay on my back for prolonged periods as well. I second @elcd458 has said. What has helped me is propping the snoogle around me. I go to sleep on my side but end up on my back at some point. With the snoogle behind me even though I am on my "back", it is partially elevated by the snoogle. So the angle it creates avoids this problem for me.
So not only is my belly button shallower than normal, but the top of it is like coming down over and covering/closing my belly button. I don't think that makes sense but basically my belly button is almost closed up when I'm standing up at this point, lol.
I feel like we talked about particular challenges of having winter newborns before, but I was working on my registry and a new question cropped up. H and I will probably want to go for walks with baby when it's not too slick (but still cold) - is this a bad idea to take baby out in really cold weather? How cold is too cold do you think? Lastly, how do you dress and bundle them appropriately? Would something like a wrap or ring sling inside my coat be okay (thinking about sharing my body heat here), or would bundling them in a stroller be better?

@whiska you could do either. Layering the baby and babywearing inside your coat or with a blanket tucked around the carrier should be warm enough. I was a little wimpy about it last time and then I heard about how they leave babies outside to nap in Finland! https://www.bbc.com/news/magazine-21537988
@whiska either or is fine. I know it sounds lame and unhelpful but you will know how much to bundle baby appropriately. If you plan on babywearing inside your jacket, I would suggest getting a jacket extender *TW* as I've heard of babies suffocating in mom's jacket */TW*
@whiska I've researched this a lot because I don't want to be stuck at home all winter. For babywearing, I plan on wearing baby under a maternity coat (which I recently ordered from a labor day sale... I'm a coat hoarder). I am paranoid about the exact scenario that @kvacmak described so I would make sure that the coat is roomy enough/his face is always visible and not blocked by fabric. If the maternity coat doesn't work out, I could borrow a looser coat from DH.
For strolling, I plan to put him in a fleece bunting, strap him in, and tuck a warm blanket over that. Then I'd adjust the layers as necessary while we're out. I'm also thinking of using a rain cover on the infant seat of the stroller to block the wind, since it has openings to allow for air circulation.
I don't know what's actually gonna end up happening, but I like being prepared!
27+2 FTM here. I think I may be experiencing some contractions? Getting a sharp period like cramp it only lasts a few seconds and comes about every 15 mins or so today. I had dealt a lot with round ligament pain early second tri and this doesn't feel like that.
I was born the first week of January (in Canada). My mom wrapped me up in blankets and put me outside in a stroller to sleep. Personally, I think strollers are More wind proof and with blankets your Baby will be fine.
Now, my personal opinion (and maybe I can shove it, if so, please be nice). Kids in umbrella style strollers on chilly/windy days need to be covered up. I was in a wheelchair a decade ago and I was SHOCKED at how cold I was. You're sitting there, not moving... blood isn't circulating. I have more concern for toddlers in this case than babies in fairly wind-blocked strollers. I think we're naturally extra cautious with babies (which is a good thing)
You know what's weird that I just realized? My body hair is increasing a lot of places, but I haven't gotten chin hairs since super early on. Normally I have one or two that grow in thick and I have to pluck and they come back a few weeks later. So strange.
@MJDsquared I keep waiting for my mustache hairs to get darker to where I actually have to remove them somehow but so far so good.
Actually, my hairiness hasn't changed too much, but my nails are weird. My fingernails are suddenly growing at lightning speed (yay!) but my toenails aren't growing at all (boo!) I finally took all the polish and everything off of them to keep an eye on it, but haven't seen any changes.
My latest symptom is leaking boobs. Tuesday it started and it happened all day. Thank god I was working from home that day, because I was not prepared for that to start. Yesterday I wore those little breast pads, so I can't tell if I leaked and they absorbed it up or if it was a one day thing.

Glucose test question: My test is at my next appt (in about 4 weeks). I had an appt yesterday and my OB said she doesn't want me to fast because my appt isn't until 3:15. She said I should eat lunch but don't eat anything after 1:15. Anyway, am I not supposed to eat carbs? I know some people who aren't told to fast are told to eat things like eggs or meat. I normally eat a sandwich for lunch and I don't know if I should be doing that or not.
@MJDsquared I did my test in the morning, but I did eat carbs with my breakfast. I didn't go crazy and have the giant bowl of cereal I wanted, but I had a yogurt that had like 15g carbs in it. The first time I ever took the GD screening I did it in the afternoon and ate a sandwich like normal for lunch and had some goldfish crackers about an hour before because I was starving. I think you'll be fine having a sandwich 2 hours before
@MJDsquared I was told no carbs and high proteins so I ate eggs and turkey bacon but my test was at 10am. Maybe a tuna salad would be a good choice and a protein shake for breakfast. I would maybe also call them to clarify if its no carbs the entire day or what.
@MJDsquared At my doctor's office the 1hr is non-fasted (but no food for 2 hours to clear your last meal) and the 3hr is fasted. If you eat a balanced meal and not too many sugars at lunch, you should have a good baseline going into the test. One of the "example meals" on my GD diet plan is even a 6" subway sandwich with turkey & avocado (no chips or soda, of course), so your sandwich is probably a good choice as long as it's not enormous.
