@madspunk thank you...on to the next cycle. Dr D replied to me today about some additional things for this ER so we will see what that costs. Another $6k in meds today
@madspunk I explicitly asked them on 3 separate occasions and they said as long as I am medicated with either clomid OR letrozole, TI (with no u/s monitoring and no trigger) counts as one of the 6. So unless 3 separate humans are lying to me (which hey, it IS an insurance company so its possible), yes, TI for us counts. And yea, we have to do 6 cycles....we are on cycle 3. Time is dragging!
@leekat14 That's great there are still some additional things they think might help. Hopefully they are inexpensive things... I'm sorry you had to drop more on meds today.
@kiwi2628 Sounds like you've done your work to make sure! I'm glad for you that TI counts. It's outrageous insurance companies can ask for so many cycles. I'm sure it's a whole bunch of men who got their wives KU on the first shot saying 6 cycles is reasonable when they don't know how much freaking work goes into those 6 cycles.
@madspunk yes I love my current job so anything I would do would be in addition to my current job. I pulled the trigger and applied for some barista jobs so we shall see!

@madspunk Almost definitely would have been avoided. It's the result of an untreated infection.. they sent me home with a diagnosed internal infection three times, and it was only treated when I ended up in the ER with a high fever and seeing things and the ER doctor circumvented the OBGYN. The problematic scarring is only on the side of the infection, which is why there are concerns about how it would impact how I carried IF I managed to get pregnant... It's just a hot mess in there, and I am MAD about it, but trying to deal with it.

@JuneRoseRuby thanks!!! Yes, I will be sure to refill my waterbottle before I leave, and again at work. Remember when I had Monday /Tuesday off, and then they gave me extra hours??? Ughh lol
@madspunk seriously! And I love how they decide it when studies disagree with it. But lets allow non-medical people to decide how I get treated medically! (this is bullshit). Andplusalso, those 6 cycles can get even longer if you have complications like cysts from the meds...like me.
Good luck @tamalahoops! I asked a friend of mine who used to work at Starbucks about their benefits (she used their tuition reimbursement benefit to help pay for colege) and she said it kicks in right away so I hope you wouldn't have to wait long!
Hi ladies - I Would like to come and join you here too if that's ok.
Diagnosis: DOR (AMH 0.65 FSH 17)
Cycle/CD: 28/20
Status: I thought I was waiting to O as FF hadn't given me CH but as I'm now having preAF symptoms then I guess I'm in TWW (though looks like I won't hit two weeks this time)
What are you doing this cycle: Well with next cycle (CD1 should be any day now) I will start my first cycle of IVF. We are planning/praying for a fresh cycle. Anything to freeze after that would be a major bonus of course. I would have joined the party here sooner but wanted to wait until the IF treatment really starts. I've been posting regularly in the dailies.
How are things going: Well @dragonette505 had some wise words for me last week that *maybe* my stress about finally starting our first IVF cycle (after 2.5 years of trying) was screwing with my cycle this time - and I think she's probably right. I was not expecting this as I have huge stress at work all the time and thrive on it with no symptoms - but seems this TTC stuff hits the mark. Today when I was sure I have very clear pre AF symptoms I totally freaked that our appointment to finalize protocol and get the prescriptions to then order the meds would be too late as AF is coming so early. I left 20 voicemails and sent a dozen emails to my REs office. Luckily it seems they're used to mad women and took it all very calmly - and my saint of an RE has agreed to move the appointment forward to tomorrow morning. So one thing less to stress about! Poor DH is already wondering if I'm like this before I start meds...
Any questions? A million. And then a million more. But seriously any tips to help relax at least a bit would be awesome. Maybe I can at least make some of you feel sane in comparison to me today ;-)
GTKY: total Amazon Prime addict. It's just too easy to search and press buy. But when you lead a busy life and don't get out of the office before the shops close it's a godsend. (Shops in Germany close at 6pm or 8pm for supermarkets and don't open at all on Sundays) Also prime delivers to the "packstations" so if we're not going to be home you select a convenient station and then go collect 24/7 at your leisure. We have one at the end of the next street right on my way home so it's perfect. Do you have something like packstation in the US? If not it's a great business idea!
Sorry if I miss anyone from the 50 posts already made
@businesswife so pleased to see you're in your first cycle. Fx @juneroseruby I have noted your hint on the water - sometimes the simple things can make a big difference. And I totally LOLd at chubby ovaries. I mean the rest of me is chubby so hopefully they will get chubby too! @madspunk totally agree with your male insurance conspiracy theory! And fx for this cycle @leekat14 Sorry for the result :-( and ouch that's a lot more money on meds in one go. Fx for the additional options @pinky917 fx this is your cycle @olliegolly full sympathy on the frustration of waiting, it really sucks. We had to wait so many times for so many reasons to get started with our now RE that I kept thinking the universe was against us at one point. Sounds like you had a rough time too, so fx the new doc is spot on @50wife fx for the follow up tomorrow so you're good to go on the weekend @hollyyyyy seems like your cycle is playing games with you too @tamalahoops reading your spoiler can totally understand taking time out. We also started April 2015. Feels like a lifetime ago. @rvamom315 really good to hear you had a good week last week @suchaglencoco completely hear you on the nerves for the RE appointments for testing and then the results. My DH had to take me away the weekend before our last one - and we'll the next one I've just moved up from Monday to tomorrow - upside being I only have about 13 hours left to stress myself out @kariann323 did you find an app or program for organizing all things IF? I would also be super interested

@emmasemm Welcome - though I'm sorry you find yourself here. First, I want to applaud you for advocating for yourself and making sure your RE took your concerns seriously. You did the right thing.
Tips on how to relax are tough but I can tell you what works for me - reading. Specifically reading novels, not books about IF or TTC. Earlier this year I picked up Big Little Lies after watching one episode of the HBO series based on the book and I found that the time I spent reading it was the only time I was not thinking about my cycle, my meds or my next appt. So now I've read about a dozen novels this year and remembering how much I love to read and get lost in a story and in that time I can relax my mind about my treatments. So that's what works for me.

@emmasemm welcome! I'm sorry that you find yourself here. My best advice is to let go of expectations. It's okay if you end up with a frozen cycle. It's okay if you only get 1 embryo. Every step, every follie check is one more hurdle you have overcome. You can do this.

@emmasemm Sorry you go here now The ladies here are SO very knowlegable and helpful and supportive. I'm sure someone will have some answers to some of your millions of questions. We do have prime lockers where you can pick up your Amazon packages, but I don't know about anything for non-Amazon purchases. That is a great idea!
@emmasemm Welcome. You're in good company here I wish I could offer you better advice but so much is a waiting game. Not that this works 100% of the time but I look for any kinds of distractions I can find. I read a lot, go for walks, listen to podcasts...and sometimes it even helps...sometimes
@Hollyyyyy Ugh, the long cycles are awful - hopefully this one won't last much longer for you. Are you able to confirm O with the Metformin?

Diagnosis: PCOS
Cycle/CD: Month 11, Cycle 8, CD1
Status: WTO
What are you doing this cycle: DH is out of town so I just put a timeline on him for when he needs to get back. I've got to call today and see about getting in for the HSG, but I'm a bit worried about going alone. Part of me wants to push it a cycle, but part of me wants it done. DH also needs his SA, but I guess we'll see when he gets back
How are things going: Better... With all the stress, I've had two crazy long cycles, but feel like I'm in a better frame of mind these days. Trying to keep that positive vibe, so that that my body doesn't freak out and decide to withhold O again.
@Sailing_Mama It's really hard to tell. I've heard PCOS can give false positive OPKs, and I am TERRIBLE at temping. I get some phsyical O symptoms, but haven't been able to nail down 100% if I for sure O, or when exactly. So short version, I dunno haha.
Sorry you're nervous about your HSG! I know everybody's body responds differently, but I was super nervous for mine, and only had minor discomfort. However, wanting someone along for moral support makes a lot of sense as well. Whatever you end up doing, FX you have good results from both the HSG and your H's SA. Are you taking any meds for your long cycles?
@emmasemm, my advice would be to not let it consume your total life. Remember your relationship with your partner and remember the person you are outside of IF. After our last loss, we worked on our relationship and made it more of a priority again. We also refrained from talking about it all as much as possible to keep it from being the only conversation we had that was on repeat. When our second transfer came around, we were both much more relaxed and a had a "whatever happens, happens" mindset. I didn't feel as much pressure on my shoulders.
Thanks everyone We are very lucky in a bunch of ways, and I keep trying to count my blessings. The scar tissue has been seen on an US - twice now. So we have a confirmed diagnosis, really before we were even looking to TTC - We had a diagnosis made when the doctor put in my mirena and went to check the placement, so as we got closer to when we wanted to ideally TTC, we at least already knew there was a problem. A confirmed diagnosis even before you start TTC is a huge blessing if you are going to have this type of problem, and on my good days I remember that.
@emmasemm welcome! Sorry you are joining the IF party, but we've got some pretty cool, classy, sassy, badass ladies here. I can't speak to IVF because that's not part of our lives (yet), but if you can, just try and focus on some positive things each day. It's so easy to get bogged down with the negatives during this process, so it's a great distraction to think about things in your life that make you happy.

Diagnosis (If you've been): unexplained

What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?) Back to another IUI this cycle. The new clinic I'm going to has a different IUI protocol than my last RE so I'm praying this is the trick for us!
How are things going?
Things are okay, not gonna lie it was nice to have a little break from medicine and BW and US appointments but were back on the grind now.
Any questions? Nope

@tamalahoops that's good to know!! My husband is self employed so I carry the insurance for us but in my profession I have to work for a hospital to get access to health insurance cause all agencies pay FFS or as independent contractors. Wouldn't be a bad idea to work part time to get access to insurance and then work in the setting I chose. Thanks for sharing!
@leekat14 GL with stims! @kiwi2628 I'm so sorry that insurance is forcing you guys to do more cycles before IVF @suchaglencoco Sorry for the nightmares @tamalahoops Hugs @Hollyyyyy Yeah it's similar to Rent the Runway but for everyday sorts of clothes. How are things going? Went in for my progesterone test since I hadn't O'd by cd 19 b(no idea why they tested it). Now waiting for results and next steps since the notes said to discontinue opks after cd 19 (but I'm not going to. I'm too OCD). Also, H went for his genetic testing today.
Any questions? Anyone know why they had me go in for a progesterone test today?

First of all, thanks to all of you for the warm welcome. It is really appreciated.
@laurad75 thanks a lot for your support. To be honest at the time of making all the calls I was really too worried to be embarrassed or shy about it, but immediately afterwards I did have a guilt attack. But my REs response and your reply really reassured me. This morning he said he wished more patients first of all knew their cycles that well and second would speak up. He said he hates it when someone skips as they daren't say something. On the other hand I'm a little nervous as he also said he agrees I really can't afford to skip a cycle and wait... Reading is a good idea. I think I might need to take a few old fashioned real books so I don't get distracted on the iPad.
@tamalahoops I have taken a screenshot of what you wrote as a kind of little daily affirmation for myself, as expectations is definitely where I'm struggling.
@adirat more wise words - I think having a whole list of options to distract will be key, not always thinking the same thing will work forever
@sailing_mama so true that our bodies go all freaky on us when we're stressed (which then creates more stress...)
@suchaglencoco also thanks. DH was reminding me yesterday too that we as a couple are still important not only the IF stuff. He chased me round the garden with the hose pipe... :-)
Well we saw the RE this morning bright and early and we handed over the last of the signed paperwork, went through the treatment plan, got our prescriptions, I had bw taken, had our instruction how to use the pens and do the injections, picked up the prescription from the pharmacy (the one across the road actually stocks all the normal meds! So normally no wait which is also awesome to know for future "I'm not going to have my meds on time" panic attacks!!!) And this was all before 8.30am!!! Currently my meds are in the fridge at work so I'm checking them hourly to make sure nobody has taken them out!!! (They are in a solid covered bag which I sealed with tape to prevent prying eyes) Now it's just a case of waiting for AF! The one longer discussion we had was about freezing. As for the freezing it is another 28 pages of forms to read and sign here and because we have to pay a monthly fee from the moment we sign, what he suggested is we wait until my first monitoring scan on CD6/7 and then see if it looks likely or not. Which again really signaled to me he was being completely straight when he said we will be lucky to get 2 fertilized eggs per cycle... ouch...
But for now I am trying to be all zen, I'm ready for AF whenever she decides to appear and the rest is out of our hands for the moment!
My protocol is very simple for anyone who's interested: 225 Gonal F from CD3 evening every day until first monitoring CD6/7, then probably for another 4 days ish depending on the monitoring Orgalutran 0.25 to prevent ovulation if needed, days to be confirmed at first monitoring Triggering with Ovitrelle Crinone daily from ER to ET

The progesterone level would tell them what phase of your cycle you were in. It stays very low pre-ovulation, but rises after so maybe it's got something to do with that. Not sure with annovulatory cycles what they expect to see? @purplg8r
So we got the word from today's scan! Tonight will be trigger!!! Fx for the best possible outcome... trying not to stress or obsess about numbers in the mean time. It'll be what it's going to be!
@olliegolly Ugh! I'm sorry - that's so frustrating. I hope you are able to get some answers soon for what it will all mean for getting KU and for any future pregnancies.
@kiwi2628 Yup - my 6 cycles got longer too from having to cancel cycles for over-response. So stupid. Sorry your 6 cycles are getting longer too. Hopefully your next few cycles go smoothly (and maybe one of those cycles will be the one!). Hang in there.
@emmasemm Welcome to the board. Kudos to you for thriving on stress. I like to completely unravel when stressed.Trying to focus on other things - reading, exercise, events with DH or friends - is what helps keep me calm. I agree with @tamalahoops, letting go of expectations is huge. You can research and become really informed on the whole process, but there's no telling what will actually happen for you.
@Sailing_Mama Sorry you're nervous about the HSG. I went alone and it was okay. I am one of the rare exceptions who did have pain during the HSG, but even with that and an almost hour long drive home by myself, it was fine. That said, I don't think it will matter much if you wait for the HSG until next cycle if you do want your H there.
@beachbunnyxo123 What's different about the IUI protocol at your new clinic?
@purplg8r Maybe they're checking to see if you O'ed and somehow the OPKs missed it? I've only seen progesterone used to check ovulation and that your levels are good after O'ing. I'm not sure why else they would be testing it.
@emmasemm, it's strange to me they'd make you pay a storage fee if you're actively ttc. Our clinic only starts charging once we're released to our OB for monitoring. I am glad you aren't feeling overwhelmed by it all and are just excited to get it started! And super happy your husband is still forcing fun on you, even if its spraying you with the hose!!
@BusinessWife, ahhhhhh!!! So exciting! And yes, it'll be what it'll be. No need to stress or over worry. Your body did what it could and you should be proud with any positive outcome.
Looks like I will be triggering tonight too with a retrieval Friday too! Looks like MH is going to have to miss " bring your dog to work day Friday" so he's a little bummed about that, but all for a good cause!

@JuneRoseRuby, maybe we're the oddballs! We did a fresh cycle, froze 3 embryos, got pregnant with identical twins, lost our twins, and didn't do our fet for like 5 months. We didn't pay freezer fees at all. We didn't start to get billed until I was like 10 or 11 weeks with our fet twins. We also pay monthly and just got notice that its been almost 3 years so they're doubling our fee come November. Hopefully since we should be "current patients" by then, they'll wave the fee again.
Re: IF Testing & Treatment : Week of August 28
@BusinessWife I hope you are feeling better
@kiwi2628 Sounds like you've done your work to make sure! I'm glad for you that TI counts. It's outrageous insurance companies can ask for so many cycles. I'm sure it's a whole bunch of men who got their wives KU on the first shot saying 6 cycles is reasonable when they don't know how much freaking work goes into those 6 cycles.

Fx
@juneroseruby I have noted your hint on the water - sometimes the simple things can make a big difference. And I totally LOLd at chubby ovaries. I mean the rest of me is chubby so hopefully they will get chubby too!
@madspunk totally agree with your male insurance conspiracy theory! And fx for this cycle
@leekat14 Sorry for the result :-( and ouch that's a lot more money on meds in one go. Fx for the additional options
@pinky917 fx this is your cycle
@olliegolly full sympathy on the frustration of waiting, it really sucks. We had to wait so many times for so many reasons to get started with our now RE that I kept thinking the universe was against us at one point. Sounds like you had a rough time too, so fx the new doc is spot on
@50wife fx for the follow up tomorrow so you're good to go on the weekend
@hollyyyyy seems like your cycle is playing games with you too
@tamalahoops reading your spoiler can totally understand taking time out. We also started April 2015. Feels like a lifetime ago.
@rvamom315 really good to hear you had a good week last week
@suchaglencoco completely hear you on the nerves for the RE appointments for testing and then the results. My DH had to take me away the weekend before our last one - and we'll the next one I've just moved up from Monday to tomorrow - upside being I only have about 13 hours left to stress myself out
@kariann323 did you find an app or program for organizing all things IF? I would also be super interested

2017 - egg retrieval #1 - 3 eggs, 0 embryos appropriate for transfer; ER #2 2 eggs, 0 embryos on day 3; ER #3 1 egg 0 embryos
moved to donor egg in summer 2017; 35 eggs retrieved; 19 fertilized; 9 total embryos

@BusinessWife @JuneRoseRuby Happy trigger day(s)!!

Any questions?
GTKY: I don't use any online services

@businesswife wow that trigger is really close now!
(They are in a solid covered bag which I sealed with tape to prevent prying eyes)
Now it's just a case of waiting for AF!
My protocol is very simple for anyone who's interested:
225 Gonal F from CD3 evening every day until first monitoring CD6/7, then probably for another 4 days ish depending on the monitoring
Orgalutran 0.25 to prevent ovulation if needed, days to be confirmed at first monitoring
Triggering with Ovitrelle
Crinone daily from ER to ET

@purplg8r
@BusinessWife Trigger day!!! GL!
