Re: Anyone doing IVF in July/August?

  • @dragonette505..I did not POAS because my practice had me come in for blood work the next day to make sure it absorbed into my blood stream and it sure did ..they want the level at least 50 and I was at 290! Yep doing a fresh transfer this Sunday !

Yay! My first clinic made me go for the bw (and a dip test) to make sure it took, though ive chatted with people on here who don't have to and aren't told to test at home either which I always am like... whuuut? My last place figure if you can turn a digi youre at least at 50
  • @megmac2010 I'm so sorry!!! Please have a couple of glasses of wine and anything else you need. Sending internet hugs your way

  • @megmac2010 I'm so sorry to read your update. Give yourself time and yes please enjoy that wine! Thinking of you.
  • @megmac07. (((Hugs))) to you.  I'm so sorry. Do all the things to take care of you, and know that we're here if you need a shoulder or two. ❤
  • @Hopeful_mom So glad nothing out of the ordinary is going on, and hope it stops hurting soon! The signing of the forms feels so excessive, but this is the way it is, I suppose! I go in tomorrow morning for monitoring so hopefully I can get going... who knows... I'm so bored with this estrogen priming. Feels like ive been doing it forever and that I'm going to do it for the rest of my life!! LOL!
  • @megmac2010 - UGH! I'm so sorry!!! This is such fucking bullshit!!!! Ugh, ugh, ugh. Sending you a big hug and I would bring over a bottle of wine and a block of hot cheese if I knew you IRL - hot soft cheese, the kind pregnant women can't eat. I'm so, so sorry. :(

@allycheer00 - GL! Keeping FX for you, and for us all - I think the board could really use a BFP, hoping you get one soon!

@Malibu45 - great news! Congrats! Keeping FX for you over these next few days - come on, blasts!

@dragonette505Ive had girls say (not mad or anything) but like ive been asked: oh whats your AMH (by my age group ladies which is over 40) and when I say, they are like: OH that's so much better than mine... I'm all like... but uhhhh we still both don't have babies, right?

Exactly. I've been on both sides of it - the person with the shittier AMH, or the person with the better AMH - and it doesn't matter at all... for me, the AMH is not the reason I'm not getting KU-ed. But I get it - I mean, IF makes you crazy and you can start clinging to straws, thinking maybe if you drink enough raspberry tea your struggle will finally be over. Ugh.

We don't struggle with MFI at all. One time at an IUI, my H's sample was so good that a nurse cracked a joke about how he could sell them some. And honestly, all it makes me is more frustrated - even with these crazy good SAs and our crazy good everything else, still no baby. Just a lot of heartbreak and questioning: "Well, what is it, then? Is there anything we can do? Anything at all?!"

@Hopeful_mom - when will you know if any of the 3 are normies?

@ReesaAnne16 - keeping FX for you! Grow, embies, grow!

@funkykey I hear you! (ps you basically convinced me to have a grilled brie Sammy for snack!  lol) And yeah... ive got eggs... ive retrieved somewhere around 72 eggs in all of my cycles... wheres my baby at (lol) ?!? If I think of it that way its insane, but I rarely do because its defeatist and doesn't help me much... But its in the back of my head.... nibbling away at my brain. It must suck to look good on paper but still not getting answers.... I will say this... I thin you have really upped your chances going right into ivf. Ive seen a bunch of girls have failed TI and IUI and then move to IVF and BOOM! That's the ticket! I'm hoping when you transfer, this is it for you!

dragonette505  you know i didn't mind the priming the first time BUT after it started bothering my skin I'm happy to be done with it!!  Excited for you to get started!!!

funkykey funny you read my mind I was just wondering where you were :)  I hate this process.  I'm just surprised at how different my OH count is each time...but it only tacks one blah blah blah...then lets go, we had more then one ;)  I did a back to back IUI hoping getting more in there could help yea that was the cycle we literally had 2 mil and 2mil after wash each day...I was devastated...however it did work for someone else.  I will say the time we had 120 mil something so great, the numbers were high on every point...I joked asking if they were sure it was his  :D but in my heart I said if this one doesn't do the trick its time to move on regardless.... ugh!!!
As for my lil darlings hoping by early next week as they probably got them yesterday eeeekkkkkk.  That Day 7 I had to wait for...

  • I've been MIA the last few days. Just catching up on everyone's posts!

@megmac2010 I'm so sorry!! I agree with everyone go open that bottle (or two) of wine!!

AFM, I go for baseline US in the AM and blood work with plans to start stims on friday night with gonalF. I'm FINALLY done with the BC as of sunday. Thank god, just Lupron for now. My face is broken out in some crazy hormonal acne, I'm assuming it's from the 4 weeks of BC.

  • @BusinessWife we are estimated ER day to be between 9/4-9/8! Scan buddies!!

@angelbea im going to ask tomorrow about exercising when I have my scan! I practice yoga 3-4 xs a week and I think from what I've read during stim that maybe twisting in yoga may not be the best thing for enlarging ovaries lol. I hope I can do some sort of exercise because it keeps me sane lol.

  • @BusinessWife:   Stim twins, activate! :-)  Yay!!  Will be interesting to compare! It's already interesting to see the differences in drugs and amounts given (and yes, the 600u is quite the kick start I think!).  When is your next ultrasound to check how you are progressing?  Mine is on Monday.  Any idea how long you will stim?  I stimmed for 10-11 days last time, so I think I may go 11 or 12 this time around.  We shall see!

@tnh0413:   Yes, I think the twisting and turning in yoga might not be the best for your ovaries, I've been told.  Last ER I remember I walked a ton during stim week (mostly because it kept me sane, like you!) so I will likely start that up this weekend.   Good luck on your scan!

@megmac2010:   I just went though and saw your post.  I know exactly how your feel.  It's just awful.  Wine will help.  Lots of it.  But don't give up -- the sadness and anger will pass.  Big hugs.

    Me: 41; DH: 45
Both married for the first time in our 40s; went straight to IVF after multiple fibroid surgeries
    (2/17) ER: #1:  agonist/antagonist protocol: 19 eggs; 8 mature; 13 fertilized; 1 7-day blast (6BA = abnormal/non-viable)
    (4/17) ER: #2: same protocol but stimmed an extra 2 days:  16 eggs; 10 mature (5 more matured in lab); 13 fertilized; 2 6-day blasts (5AA & 6BA) & 2 7-day blasts (6BA & 5BB):  only 1 Day 6 6BA tested normal!
    FET on 7/10/17
    Beta on 7/21/17:  Negative:(
    (8/17) ER #3:  9 eggs; 6 mature; 3 fertilized; 1 7-day blast (6BA = abnormal/non-viable)
Developed severe complications (abdominal bleeding) following egg retrieval which required hospitalization, transfusion & emergency surgery.  Done with IVF.
  • @Angelbea. I'm not sure how long we will stim for... doc said 7-10 ish up to 14 days... My next scan is tomorrow!!!  I am guessing it might be on the average to shorter time, but I have no idea!!!  This is my first cycle.  I'm kinda stressing bc my Boss gets back from vacation Tuesday, and we have a big family wedding Sunday... so.... either I'm calling out sick shortly after she gets back, or I have a retrieval and a wedding on the same day????  I am just guessing but I think Sunday might be the the latest we do reteieval. Idk.  OMG that sounds like it is happening so soon!!!  I might freak out if I think about it like that lol.  So much else I have to do and its stressing me out. :/
  • @dragonette505 - when we had such good numbers and our 3rd IUI failed, I was like: "Bring in the big guns." Our doctor said it was most effective for people with some mild MFI, and since we didn't have that, I kept thinking: "It's got to be something else, something only IVF can fix." When you look good on paper and it's still not happening, it's such a reminder of how little we actually know about human reproduction - it's more than we knew 40 years ago, but we've got a long way to go!

@ReesaAnne16 - you made me laugh with the robitussin for CM. LOL. That is such wonderful news re: your fertilization! Really hoping you get some great embies!

@Hopeful_mom - it is amazing how the SA numbers can change. I think once we'd BD-ed 2 days before IUI, and once 3 days before, and there was what seemed like a huge difference between the two numbers. Both were fine, but the 3 days of abstinence had way way more swimmers - like another 100 mil after wash!
  • @tnh0413 Heeey! @BusinessWife and I also have monitoring so we can all check back in tomorrow. No saying if I actually start stimming tomorrow though it's possible!
@angelbea  I've always been told to reduce activity to stuff like walking (though I know some hardcore runners who got to continue to run as much as the felt up to it) and I think it's based on your level of activity and your activity itself ( like for me, yoga is modified and tango is out) but probably stuff where you don't twist or create torsion is ok
@funkykey really hoping this solves everything!!!
@BusinessWife  yay!!! So glad these shots aren't wrecking you! They always make me sleepy like totally knocked out! Lol

  • Lol @dragonette505 I definitely wanted to sleep way longer this morning lol. I feel like it's making me hungry!!!!  Or maybe I'm just stress-eating??? Are carbs bad for you when stimming?  I know I might need to be more strict after retrieval...

I have cut myself back so far to just one small cup of coffee a day too (from a LOT more) but should I really just switch to tea or hot lemon water till the stims are done???  My nurse really didnt say anything about it.
  • That is so exciting!!! @Magallyta. Congrats on your normie!!!  Fx for a smooth transfer... ❤
  • Where are my scan buddies!!??! @dragonette505 @tnh0413

So I didn't know what was happening at first, #ivfnewb, but sounds like the right had at least one at 10 (but I am so scared of getting a lead follicle that was all I could think about.  Then the left has a 12 and a 13?  So this is good?  Things are happening?  She seemed to think everything was lookong good, and my doses would likely stay the same, but the nurse will call, and then I go back Saturday....
  • @BusinessWife just had my scan! 8 follicles on each side! My period is probably going to start based on how thick my lining is, but I'm good to start 225unit of gonalF tomorrow night and I'll be decreasing Lupron down to 5 units! Next appt I'll be Monday labwork to determine my menopur dose which will start Monday night!

  • Also, she told me I would be best to not do yoga the next week or so while stimming just bc of the risk to twist the ovaries. ☹️

  • @tnh0413 So you will get your period but keep stimming right through?  I know nothing about any other protocols than my own lol.  Sounds like you were on bcps first, then how much lupron to start?  That is so exciting youre adding the gonal f tomorrow!!!!  Does the lupron actually stim? Or is that more just part of the baseline downreg stuff?
    <img src="https://us.v-cdn.net/5020794/uploads/editor/a8/t97ol25dsguf.gif" alt="">
  • I am paranoid now just about laying sideways or twisting too much in bed!  :#
  • @BusinessWife yep! I started with BC pills about 3 weeks then added 20 units of Lupron daily. This suppresses the ovaries to keep me from ovulating. I'll stay on that for the remainder while I add the stim meds in! ITs crazy how many different protocols there are! Science is amazing!

When I was at your stage of stims, I have a 12mm on the left, 2x 12mm on the right, and then several <10mm that they didn't even measure. My guess is you have more, but they only measured the ones 10mm and larger.
You're doing great! It's still to early to guess how many follicles you'll get.

For sure! The yoga I do is basically laying around with you legs either supported with a bolster or in butterfly and breathing lolol... Its not much, but its meditative and you are in your yoga pants, so it makes you feel like youre still on your game. No twisting or torsion involved. Also walking really helps me

  • @Momifbysea AWESOME!! FX for you over the next few days!!

@dragonette505 yay for stimming tonight (hopefully!!) Also, thanks for the info about the follicles! It's my first rodeo and I didn't even think about them only being able to see the larger ones at this point. Hopefully once stims start they will plump up nicely!! Thx for the yoga tip as well too! I'll def hit up some of the restorative classes (didn't even think of that!) at my studio just to get my fix.
