@hopefulmom: I am on the agonist/antagonist protocol (similar to what Dr. Sher uses for older/DOR women, if you are familiar), which is 2 weeks of BCP with Lupron overlap for 1 week and then switch to Cetrotide for the 3rd week and then start stims with Gonal-F 600u for 2 days, then down to 300u for the remaining stim time and adding in Menopur 75u on the 3rd day of stims; Estrogen suppositories nightly during stimming. Trigger with 10k units HCG. I know it by heart now, since it is the same protocol I've been on for my past 2 ERs. The only change was during my 2nd ER that we extended the stimming time in order to get more mature eggs. We will likely do that again this time, but I will know more on Monday after my u/s.
My pharmacy didn't send me the right needles for the the Menopur injections, so I was in a panic around 9:30 pm and pretty much attacked my DH as he walked in the door from work, claiming there was a "needle emergency" (he is an ER doc, so he happens to know what a real emergency is). Nevertheless, he humored me and we had to use 3 insulin syringes to do the injection. I was so ticked at the pharmacy for not getting this right (I had a similar issue with them and my FET needles) -- I mean, for $5k, you can get the damn needles right, right?!? End of hormone-induced rant. For now. ;-)
Me: 41; DH: 45 Both married for the first time in our 40s; went straight to IVF after multiple fibroid surgeries (2/17) ER: #1: agonist/antagonist protocol: 19 eggs; 8 mature; 13 fertilized; 1 7-day blast (6BA = abnormal/non-viable) (4/17) ER: #2: same protocol but stimmed an extra 2 days: 16 eggs; 10 mature (5 more matured in lab); 13 fertilized; 2 6-day blasts (5AA & 6BA) & 2 7-day blasts (6BA & 5BB): only 1 Day 6 6BA tested normal! FET on 7/10/17 Beta on 7/21/17: Negative:( (8/17) ER #3: 9 eggs; 6 mature; 3 fertilized; 1 7-day blast (6BA = abnormal/non-viable) Developed severe complications (abdominal bleeding) following egg retrieval which required hospitalization, transfusion & emergency surgery. Hi ladies...so my 13 little fertilized eggs have been comfy cozy in their incubators since Tuesday. I find out tomorrow how they're doing (Friday) and transfer day is Sunday. I was on a high when I heard how many eggs were retrieved/fertilized but then it just hit me. What if I get a call tomorrow that none of them are alive anymore (not sure the terminology there lol). Now I'm back to being a nervous wreck My ovarian reserve is very high but I'm not sure about egg equality ...is that something they test ? Or they don't know until situations like IVF?
@Malibu45 I know exactly how you're feeling, I'm afraid they will call tomorrow or Sunday saying they've all arrested This has been the longest week! My ovarian reserve is good, but we're working with poor sperm, so I'm not sure when that begins to factor in.
If it makes you feel better, with 13 your odds are very good that several of them will make it

@Hopeful_mom Omg yessss!!! I love Mindy too. Except my mom is a physician so sometimes it makes me regret not doing med school when I had the chance lol. #lifechoices <img src="https://us.v-cdn.net/5020794/uploads/editor/k2/e6n30mr7lul9.gif" alt=""> The nurse said my P was still nice and low, 0.2? Is that possible it went DOWN from CD3 0.4 to CD6 0.2? And E was on its way up, at 234 from 51. Which she said matched up with the couple follis they saw forming in the scan...
@Hopeful_mom...thanks for the encouraging words !! I'll keep you posted
What are the symptoms of OHSS? I'm not sure what to think....the only thing I'm feeling is intermittent stomach ache but I'm wondering if that's from the crinone as I was told that's a side effect. My ovaries don't hurt, I'm urinating plenty, and I don't feel distended. Any insight ?
@BusinessWife Yay! Sounds like you are progressing perfectly!!!
@Malibu45 OHSS is sort of unmistakable... Your tummy will get huge and you'll have trouble breathing. Those are the most troubling symptoms. Since your estrogen was not super high, I honestly wouldn't spend a lot of time worrying about it. Stomachache is normal after retrieval for the most part. My mother used to always say: don't borrow trouble. I know its hard not to stress about possibilities, but I would *try* not to focus on it. If you get OHSS, it is likely nothing bad will happen, and some women even transfer with mild OHSS. I had moderate OHSS last cycle and was medicated with cabergoline, but was still able to travel and go on my vaca to Iceland and climb on a glacier. Hope this helps!
AFM: Did my first round of shots.... I am always nervous about them and was extra nervous about adding the HGH. I also now have to take the HGH shot in the mornings. Anyway...just glad to finally stop priming and get going!
@dragonette505...that makes me feel much better ! You are right ! The nurse did tell me I will know if I have it so I really should stop obsessing lol. It's kind of my thing lol ugh !
I just got a miraculous call guys! Out of the 11 eggs retrieved yesterday, 10 were of good quality (I interpret that to mean mature?) and 7 FERTILIZED! I had to listen to the voicemail twice and I keep pinching myself! Now the wait until the Wednesday call...baby steps right?
@Malibu45 No worries! I know with the number you got its hard to imagine not getting it, but its like a synthesis of things that come together and bring it on. Not numbers alone, not estrogen alone, not body type alone, but all of those things. I have a very small waist... that's one of the predictors. I also had super high estrogen at retrieval and of course relatively high eggs (18). All that together brought it about. Its hard not to interpret every twinge as a problem, but try not to... there have been studies that say that one of the most powerful things you can do for a successful transfer is laughter. I had my husband telling jokes during my last transfer and had lined up comedies to watch as I sat on my couch resting.
@Momifbysea OMG! That's so good! I cant wait to see how many you end up with!!!
@BusinessWife My mom is a physician as well. Watching her for 30 years made me glad I didn't go through with medical school. funny how that goes. My first E2 was 50 and didn't jump as high as yours did so looks great! You're moving along nicely!
@allycheer00 No.. my original "mock" cycle calendar did, but once youre in it they only update you to your next monitoring. I don't go back till Monday so no data past Monday morning. They may change evening dosing so they leave that blank
@dragonette505 yay priming is over...wish i had the perfect gif to send u Thrilled you're on your way!!
@BusinessWife everything sounds like its right on track!! Perfect - lets keep that going!! I'm actually sad I can't watch it anymore...it really is a good one to laugh at! And it was a few years back that I fell upon it in the first place.
@Momifbysea. whoah that is FANTASTIC!! grow babies grow...giving a lil extra miracle grow your way
@allycheer00 I actually watched the first episode last night and thought quite a few girls could use a smack! I guess non of them gained that freshmen 15 either dear lord ah the good life!
Malibu45 just relax and let your body get ready for transfer, i'm sure ur ok!

@BusinessWife your levels sound normal to me Practically speaking your protesterone went from 0 to 0 It won't start to going up again until immediately before ovulation/retrieval and then will rise significantly after that.
AFM we still have 4 grade 1 embryos!! The 5th one we found out did eventually fertilize, but it's way behind the others and likely not viable.
We don't get a report tomorrow which will be nerve wracking.
Sunday we go in to find out how many made it to day 5 and decide how many to transfer (it will be 1 most likely) and which ones can be frozen.
I'm nervous because I've been trying to find data about how paternal DNA affects the growing embryo and it seems like it doesn't kick in until after day 3? Does anyone know anything about this? Since we're MFI, it seems like we are at a higher risk of losing them at this stage. I should have asked my nurse when she called, but I was too excited and worried about getting the details for Sunday worked out.

Embryologist called today to set up my transfer !! This Sunday at 11:30. She said we can't wear anything that is scented like deodorant, lotion, or perfume because it can affect the embryos ! I have to have a full bladder also..that's gonna be rough ! I'm so excited !
Any suggestions for transfer day ? Before or after ?
@ReesaAnne16 - we had a big drop between day 3 and day 5, and the embryologist told me it was usually because of what you've mentioned - the paternal DNA kicking in.
But then a few made it through on day 6, they were just a little slower... So wait and see! Obviously keeping FX for you that all make it and all goes well! These days are so nerve-wracking! xoxo

My ovarian reserve is good, but we're working with poor sperm, so I'm not sure when that begins to factor in.
If it makes you feel better, with 13 your odds are very good that several of them will make it

The nurse said my P was still nice and low, 0.2? Is that possible it went DOWN from CD3 0.4 to CD6 0.2? And E was on its way up, at 234 from 51. Which she said matched up with the couple follis they saw forming in the scan...
@BusinessWife that sounds really good, going well! Retrieval will be here before you know it just watch!
@Momifbysea Niiiice fert report!
@Hopeful_mom You must watch it! So good!
@dragonette505 Wah! I can't see this calendar that @momifbysea mentioned while on my work computer. Does it list trigger and retrieval?

@BusinessWife everything sounds like its right on track!! Perfect - lets keep that going!! I'm actually sad I can't watch it anymore...it really is a good one to laugh at! And it was a few years back that I fell upon it in the first place.

@allycheer00 I actually watched the first episode last night and thought quite a few girls could use a smack! I guess non of them gained that freshmen 15 either dear lord

@BusinessWife your levels sound normal to me
AFM we still have 4 grade 1 embryos!! The 5th one we found out did eventually fertilize, but it's way behind the others and likely not viable.
We don't get a report tomorrow
Sunday we go in to find out how many made it to day 5 and decide how many to transfer (it will be 1 most likely) and which ones can be frozen.
I'm nervous because I've been trying to find data about how paternal DNA affects the growing embryo and it seems like it doesn't kick in until after day 3? Does anyone know anything about this? Since we're MFI, it seems like we are at a higher risk of losing them at this stage. I should have asked my nurse when she called, but I was too excited and worried about getting the details for Sunday worked out.

Any suggestions for transfer day ? Before or after ?
But then a few made it through on day 6, they were just a little slower... So wait and see! Obviously keeping FX for you that all make it and all goes well! These days are so nerve-wracking! xoxo
