Re: Symptoms - Week of 8/12

  • I can add migraines to symptoms now.  I got them constantly with previous pregnancies.  I was hoping to not get them as bad, since I have my daith pierced, but luckily me got a migraine on the side that I never get them.

Also, vivid dreams.  I had a very vivid one about throwing up and then a few more.

  • this morning sickness is unreal. it's so much worse than the first time that I'm anxious for my first ultrasound to make sure there's not two babies in there
  • I am having brown spotting and my PGAL brain has taken over. Not fun.

  • @linds0503 big hugs and good thoughts! I hope it goes away soon.

I swear with every kid I start looking pregnant sooner. The bloating this time is crazy! I eat or drink and my body wants to hold on to everything! I look 5 months pregnant. Too bad it's not hoodie season quite yet.
  • @MrsF1017 I definitely buy into that old wives tale. I had zero heartburn with DS and he was born bald as could be. He didn't even have eyebrows or eyelashes. I heard it's actually backed by science because the same hormone that causes fetal hair growth also causes heartburn.

  • @thisgirlagain me too! I've completely given in to wearing maternity pants already. Nothing else is going to cut it.

  • @kaymaroo I didn't know That! My first pregnancy I had some heartburn but not a lot and he came out with some hair. My last pregnancy I was on Zantac and tums and still was miserable and he came out a baby Chewbacca! Haha.
  • @linds0503 if it's brown it could just mean some of your old uterine lining has shed when implantation occurred, FX that is what is and everything is ok.

@thisgirlagain I can't wait for hoodie season. Sweatshirts are my life!

  • @linds0503, sorry for the spotting, while it is concerning, generally it is nothing.  My OB and I had a long talk about bleeding yesterday (I have had some full blown red bleeding, and have in all my pregnancies and it still freaks me out). He was saying how we are always made feel like bleeding in pregnancy is a really bad sign, but he said it is really common and happens in nearly 50% of pregnancies.
  • @linds0503 I know how scary spotting is. But remember, you just had a great U/S! You saw a perfect little heartbeat. Don't let PGAL brain get all your attention. Hugs to you. And keep us updated.

@linds0503 I'm so sorry you're spotting. It's the worst thing for Pgal brain. I hope it goes away quickly so your mind is at ease!
  • Thank you ladies. I appreciate all of your kind words.

  • Is anyone cold? I'm chilly most of the time!
  • @ackershan, I am almost always freezing.  I have been wearing sweaters outside in the evenings.
  • @ackershan - +1 on being cold all the time. I have to constantly wear socks and my house feels like an ice box! The day of my BFP I wore a sweatshirt to lunch and it was 80 degrees out.

  • Thanks all! I was nervous it was a bad sign. Ugh! I just need August 25 ultrasound to hurry up and hopefully put my mind at ease!
  • @kaymaroo I am mostly in basketball shorts, but when the jeans have to go on it is not a pretty picture. Maternity jeans may be coming out sooner than planned.

@Dumbgurl04 I heart hoodie season so much! It is already getting a little chilly at night. I am probably a month, maybe less, away from the glorious hoodie!
  • Haven't had much in the way of symptoms yet (though mild nausea this afternoon) but HOLY SENSE OF SMELL!  I remember this from last time and it just kicked in this morning.  I feel like a bloodhound.  I can smell what's in the microwave from the hallway and when a man wearing cologne walked by me and it was like a full body attack.

Anyone else having cramping? I'm 5 weeks and have had lots of dull cramping. Praying it's normal!! That's really my only symptom thus far.
I'm right around the same time frame as you, and have been cramping painfully for the past 3 days. Kinda freaking me out, but I know it's normal.
  • So scared, had a bit of bright red blood on TP a couple of hours ago. I've been going to the restroom every 30 minutes just to check for more blood
  • FX that everything's ok @mellie5909 ! Did you call your OB?
  • Night sweats.  Dear lord.  I second the menopause thing.  I haven't been having much in the way of symptoms other than sore nipples and tender breasts.  So I've obviously convinced myself that I'm not really pregnant.  Just missing my period as I start the menopause process.

  • @mellie5909, FX for you.  Try not to worry too much, red blood isn't always that bad.   I have been bleeding for 2+ weeks, and have bled in my other pregnancies with no issue.

While I say that, it is still best to make your OBGYN aware, just in case.
  • @maureenmce @holly321 thank you guys,   I called my OB but she can't see me till Monday. My last pregnancy ended in miscarriage so I'm pretty upset and hoping for the best
  • @mellie5909 praying it's nothing! I had spotting last Thursday and got to see my baby with a heartbeat this Thursday. My Dr said it can be very normal but I know it's concerning. Hang in there!
  • Omg I am having such bad back pain at night it's unreal. I've had back pain the last 2 pregnancies but not until further along. I'm not sure what to do I'm not getting any sleep last few nights. I can take a little Tylenol but it makes me nauseous so can't go crazy. Feel like I should of lost more weight/got in better shape before I got prego
  • @mellie5909 How are you doing this morning? Thinking of you.

  • Is anyone having weird, unexplained joint pain? Twice so far during this pregnancy I have had wrist pain, like I fell and sprained my wrist, except that I did no such thing, and last week my shoulder hurt so bad that I could barely use my arm, while again, I did nothing I could remember to hurt it. It seems crazy, but the only thing that had changed is that I'm pregnant. Any guesses or thoughts?

  • Hey there @mellie5909 thinking of you and hope you're doing ok today. As PP said, spotting can definitely be normal and doesn't necessarily mean something's wrong, so hopefully that's the case here. Hopefully you can take it easy this weekend and get good news from your OB appointment Monday. Hugs to you and fingers crossed. Keep us posted.
  • @lesliegolem I know it seems counter productive but when I was having back pain last time around taking a short walk before bed helped.

@hedgepig I remember the joint thing from last time but haven't felt any yet this time. I think it's something to do with the muscle softening hormones. Hopefully it goes away for you

@hedgepig joint pain is a pregnancy symptom (what isn't, really?) caused by Relaxin.  Your joints are loosening and things can shift and pinch your nerves.  Usually it doesn't peak until much later in the pregnancy, so I'm sorry you are getting pain so early.

  • @ngolimento Thanks! I also had read about relaxin in later pregnancy... crazy to think it could kick in so early!

Yes^.  I read this last night and thought of you @hedgepig.  Relaxin and extra fluid puts pressure on nerves.
