I feel awful, but only because I have a cold. DH, DD, and DS all got it first, but they were all back to normal after a day. Mine progressively got worse for 4 days straight and I was the only one who got a (low grade) fever. Whenever I get sick, I seem to stay sick forever. And I know once I do finally kick this cold, I'll be moving into "morning" sickness and be miserable, but in a different way.
Things were ok for me, then today (tmi alert!) constipation hit hardcore and my boobs started to hurt again. Smells while cooking in the kitchen are a bit intense at the moment, but I wouldn't even call it Nausea yet... just like grosses me out a little. Nothing terrible yet, so I can't complain!
Just like with my last pregnancy, so far my main symptom in week 5 is being a total bitch. I'm normally pretty even tempered but I have snapped at everyone today, except DD, and I'm feeling like a jerk. Hopefully (?) like last time that'll go away at week six and get replaced with morning sickness.
@viggie17 I've been super sensitive to smells lately, especially cologne and anything with a strong artificial scent, like our garbage bags.
@toorahloorah I was riding in the back seat of the car today because my mom was in town and it was pretty unpleasant. Guess I need to dig out my motion sickness wrist bands from last time and see if they work again!
@maureenmce have the wrist bands worked for you in the past? This is the first pregnancy that I've felt constantly motion sick. Not enough to throw up, but just a low-level nausea that's making life miserable. My mom suggested wrist bands but I've been skeptical!
Also -- holy exhaustion! It's HARD to get through the day. I brought the kids to my husband's baseball game this morning and then we all went out to lunch, and I feel like I could sleep for a week.
@kmalls They didn't totally take the nausea away but they cut it by like 30-40%, if I'm remembering correctly. I was so dreadfully nauseous all day, every day, I was really grateful for any fraction of relief! May be worth a try, but probably won't 100% fix the issue. Oh, and I also found they stretched out easily and I needed them to be pretty tight to work, so I replaced the bands I think every 4 weeks? Hope you feel better soon!
@allowachick I don't know if they look silly but they definitely don't look cool. They're almost like little sweat bands like from the 80's, but for your wrists. They are def noticeable if you're not wearing long sleeves, so my advice is to get black ones (they look the least dumb) and have a cover story for them (mine was that I was having migraines and the acupressure of the wrist bands helped.)
Low level nausea. Bloating/cramping by days end. Oh and I lost my sweet tooth as I did with my first pregnancy! Don't worry though it came back with a vengeance later haha.
@allowachick I used the sea bands for my first and upgraded to the reliefband this time. It's expensive and takes a bit getting used to but guys I'm telling you IT WORKS!!! The minute I start to feel icky I slap it on and within 20 minutes I'm ok. At this time during my first pregnancy, I was hit hard with all day sickness so I'm scared it's going to start but I remain foolishly hopeful.
@btm013 This is exciting information! I had no idea they were fancier bands that work better! I'm tempted to place an order right now even though my morning sickness hasn't hit yet.
@ksmalls I'm exhausted too! dont remember it being this bad with DS but didn't have a toddler to chase that time. Literally have not motivation to do anything. Taking full advantage of nap time and napping too.
Feeling super bloated and have already had weird stretching pain. I guess my body knows exactly what to do this time! Didn't show until about 18 weeks the first time around. I'm sure that won't be the case now...
I have had cramping since day one but it seems to have picked up a lot over the past 24hrs. I am having cramps that feel like I'm going to start my period. They last for a few minutes and then subside but I had one in the middle of the night that actually woke me up! I'm trying not to worry because I don't have any spotting or bleeding but my lack of other stmptoms still has me a bit on edge.
@JJMNO1616 Remember it's been insanely hot here, be sure to drink plenty of water. With my first pregnancy that happened anytime I got too hot or got dehydrated. I'm been cramping the past couple of days too because we've been going for walks and I've been forgetting to drink plenty of fluids.

@fishsticks-n-custard I have been really thirsty today. I had some bad cramps when walking around Costco earlier and since getting back I have been drinking water non-stop. So hopefully that helps.
@JJMNO1616, sorry for the cramps. My SIL ended up in the hospital with horrible cramps and she was just dehydrated.
@allowachick, GL with the Seabands. I have been using them and they help a bit but I can't wear them constantly because I just had carpal tunnel surgery and it presses right on the nerve, lol.
@JJMNO1616@ackershan sorry for the cramping! It's so confusing when a period, birth control, and pregnancy share a set of symptoms. FX it's the good kind of cramping!
i think it's a little early for me to experience symptoms for real yet (4w4d), but I get some waves of nausea. My last pregnancy I lost 17 lbs in my first tri and beyond from ms and aversions, so I'm stuffing my face while I can, knowing that if this one is anything like my last pregnancy, I won't be eating or tasting anything but vomit for the next 18 weeks.

@JJMNO1616 Sorry about the cramping - I some earlier today after pushing myself a bit too hard (working out then immediately cleaning the whole apartment.) I bet walking around Costco plus being dehydrated could be the reason the cramps intensified for sure. Hopefully they go away soon with water and rest!
@JJMNO1616@fishsticks-n-custard@ackershan@holly321 thank you for the advice on hydration. I have been cramping a lot as well and they all feel like period cramps but I'm not the best at hydrating and am at the beach with my family. Definitely going to make a pointed effort today to keep consistently hydrated

Exhaustion, exhaustion and more exhaustion. I have NO motivation and just want to lay down. Very emotional too. To make things worse, my husband left for our beach vacay in Aruba with friends yesterday. Once I found out I was pg, Dr. said not to go, but I told him to go have fun anyway. No use in wasting a flight and hotel. Thought I'd be fine, but I bawled 3 times yesterday. Bbs have started hurting too. I hate bras, so yesterday I wore pasties instead and when I took them off, holy pain! I wanted to die. Get headaches if I'm not eating and drinking enough. Happy to make it to week 6 though!

Morning sickness has not set in for me yet. I really don't have any symptoms and don't feel pregnant. My first pregnancy I had a little morning sickness starting at 6 weeks, but as long as i ate something salty before getting out of bed I was OK. It's a good thing that so far I feel ok, but as a PGAL, its really nerve wracking to feel nothing!
@Jyoung327 call your doctor and ask to be put on a preventative heartburn medicine. I went on Zantac (ranitidine) with my first pregnancy and it was a life saver. You really don't want to be taking more than the recommended dosing of tums.
@JJMNO1616 cramps can be scary sometimes. I agree keep up with water but remember your uterus is expanding so you could just be more aware of your cramps than others are.
AFM if anyone had nipple sensitivity but it started to go away....it comes back at week 8. Hello my old friend nursing bra.
@Jyoung327 my RE gave me a pamphlet that recommended a glass of milk for heartburn? I see the science behind it because it's basic but milk burps sound horrible to me
