Great news @dragonette505! And then after that I feel like time to ER always passes more quickly, maybe because we are actively doing something, actively monitoring, helps time move...

Great report @Hopeful_mom !!!! Keep the good news coming!!!! ❤❤❤
Well, AF is not here yet, but at least I'm SPOTTING!!! Phew! What a relief. Plus, today I managed to order my low dose HCG for Saturday delivery, so either way I'll be all we if tomorrow turns into CD1...
Now the whole, "is it spotting? / is it light CD1," game. Lol. Well see how this plays out over the next few hours...
Hey ladies, So I got my PGD results. Out of 9 embryos, only 1 is brca negative and chromosomally normal. We do have 4 embryos that are also chromosomally normal, but are brca+. Of those, one is male. I don't know the gender of the double neg (which in this case is the most positive, heh heh). I really don't know what I feel. Some disappointment. Some positivity and fortunate that I at least have one, maybe 2 tries. A little weird about the idea that we have 3 embryos that we could use, and they could be healthy babies, but we might not use. TW I'm not a very religious person, but after having to do a D&C when my amniotic sac ruptured- (I'm assuming the baby was gone before they did it, but I actually didn't ask, but it wasn't compatible with making it to a living baby) I got a different perspective on things like termination and abortion. I still 100% believe it is everyone's choice, I just felt differently than I ever had before. Because here I was having to have this procedure when my baby was so wanted. So the idea of discarding good embryos is really hard. But also, the stress of thinking about bringing up a baby knowing that I selfishly wanted a baby so much that I was willing to use a brca+ embryo, is very guilt ridden. Since males are basically just carriers, I'd feel okay about using a male brca+ if I had to. End TW
They sent us the whole report, but I quickly closed it. A)because it was actually really confusing and hard to read. And B)because I really don't want to know the gender of the double neg one. I am not sure I even want to know until I give birth. Last time I knew at 8 weeks and I think it made it harder to lose the baby. But who knows?
Anyway, that's my update. Work's been nuts, so haven't been able to be on much, but know that I'm rooting for you all.

Oh wow. @Dwmmwd. That is so bittersweet. Congrats on your double neg! And your boy! And the other three normal carrier girls! I hear you on all the feelings that go along with having that kind of information. (((Hugs))) we're here for you as you wrestle with all that.
@Dwmmwd Males with BRCA mutations are also at a higher risk for multiple cancers. If you haven't talked to a genetic counselor u might want to, if they told U males are just carriers find a better one. Breastcancer.org and facingyourrisk.org both have a bunch of info about male risk.
AFM there isn't really a board that is for lurkers waiting for FET to get going. So I'm still around here even though I finished IVF in mid July, just lurking trying to not think about it. I'm in a holding pattern until late September bc of travel plans interfering with transferring this cycle. I'm 7 days late for my period and knew it was bc of all the IVF meds but hey there's always a chance right? Ugh peeing on a stick and seeing BFN is awful even when u know it's coming, so lots of wine today.
@bionerdsteph - I'm also done with IVF (mid July) and waiting for October-ish FET, also due to travel plans. CUrrently in my first TWW after ER and still hoping for a miracle baby? Sigh. I know it'll never happen because hey, it never happened for the 20+ cycles I tracked.
@Dwmmwd - That's awesome you have another normal! I feel conflicted too about my frozen embryos. I think I will try to transfer them all and see how that goes. The idea of discarding the normals don't sit well with me. But if I had like a dozen normals, maybe that would sway my decision the other way, I don't know.
@Hopeful_mom - I think it's good news that your recovery is worse than usual! Crossing everything for your day 3 report.

@Dwmmwd excited for your normie. Did they say which batch got the normal set? Are you going to transfer now? I keep reading your post as its such a tough decision for sure! You're such a great mama already!!! To know you have normal embryos but are a carrier of the gene must be hard. Down the road could there be medicine that has a fix for it. Dont mean to sound naive as i'm not familiar with it at all, Medicine has come such a long way that you are even able to know as TTC naturally is a roll of the dice. Glad you have at least something is perfect and ready to go!!

@Hopeful_mom Your embies are doing great!!! @BusinessWife You know... theres usually a point where its clear its about to really go down... I had a couple days of spotting too and each day I was like THIS IS IT...nope. Then going to bed Wednesday night I had to take a Tylenol and use a hot water bottle... that's pretty much game over and AF time. I knew next day was gonna be day 1 lol @Dwmmwd So amazing for your normie!!! As @bionerdsteph says, the brca mutes still impact men. My best guy friend has to go for constant screening (tw fam history of BC in females and prostate and other cancers in males) Most of his family has taken advantage of the new screenings and now know their risk. @bionerdsteph I say hang out here or wherever you are comfy! This was already a multimonth thread lol @megmac2@BusinessWife Dude! me too... I'm like cmoooon AF!! lol Last night my husband was like why are you checking that forum again. I am in the middle of my first IVF cycle. Things were going very well, but I guess too well. Found out yesterday that my LH levels are elevated so I am on double doses of the Ganirelix in hopes it will prevent me from ovulating. Went this morning and have 17 follicles and not it does not appear that I ovulated yet but we will know more when the blood come s back this afternoon. Anyone experience a similar situation ? Did the medicine prevent ovulation ?
@Malibu45 what stim day are you on? Never heard of taking double ganirelex, but it does happen a lot that people ovulate early. So fx that you get good news with the bw this afternoon.
Thanks for the warnings on males with brca. From what I've read, yes, I see that it is an elevated risk, but it doesn't seem extreme like what it is for women. I've emailed our genetic counselor bc we didn't really talk about that too much. It's all so sucky to have to make these decisions. Also, I keep having these thoughts, like I have an aunt and a cousin who have had breast cancer and are brca neg. My dad has had prostate cancer for years, also brca-, so there are so many things that can get you. And yeah, we have this info, but it could just as easily be something else whether you are or aren't brca+. Part of me feels like, yes, male brca+ its an elevated risk, but you are talking about things 40-50 years in the future, technology could change a lot and who knows, there could be a cure. And in some ways, I wish I never knew any of this information. I know that's just me being pouty, but had I gotten pregnant naturally, I would have never terminated for brca. I didn't want them to test when I was pregnant bc I wasn't going to do anything with that info. But now, I have it and it's like, ahhhh. It's kind of how I felt when I got my own test results at 28. It's like, now I can't not know. Of course, it's good bc I do screening and will likely do some prophylactic surgeries, but it's also kinda awful to know about.
I keep trying to remind myself how fortunate I am. How lucky I am to have support to do this, how fortunate we are to have one good one. But it really doesn't feel that way. It feels really crappy. We just spent over 30k and I endured all kinds of shit in my system for one freakin try??? I know lots of people would give anything for one try, but it still feels unfair.
To all of you waiting for AF. That is the worst. Come on already!
Paging @allycheer00 how is your cycle going? Getting close to transfer date?
@hopeful_mom sorry if you've already fully explained, it's been hard to keep up. Are you saying you have 5 going strong(ish) on day 3? You're taking them out to blast right? If so, that's amazing bc didn't you start with 5? I guess it's 6 you started with? Anyway, I think it sounds like good news. I don't know anything about ratings, bc my clinic never gives me ratings. Maybe it's in my report, but I don't want to read it.

I have been stimming for 6 days (today is my 7th day). On Wednesday my LH level was 5 and then Thursday it jumped to 20. I'm responding much faster to the follistim than they even expected. I am hoping that the Ganarelix will lower my levels..the doctor seems to feel good about that happening...we'll see in a few hours when results come bacj
Hey ladies, I've got a lot going on at work today before I'm off for a few days, but just popping in to say:
@BusinessWife I also feel very invested in your period! I hope it's FINALLY come!
@Hopeful_mom I know nothing about ratings, but it sounds like most of your bath are growing well, which is great! Congrats!
AFM AF is definitely here, despite the progesterone. Not cool, AF. Not cool. She arrived last night, but I went in for the beta today anyway since when I'd talked to the nurse I was only spotting and she said to keep the appointment. So now I'm just waiting for them to confirm what I know, which is BFN. I'm frustrated, I'm sad, I'm angry at the world, but at least I've got a lot to do today and we're going with family to see the eclipse on Monday, so some distraction. We ended up with two frozen embies, which we plan to use (no idea of the quality right now). I'd estimate a FET at the end of September/early October, so I'll be following a lot of you over there! And anyway, I want to stick around here for now to support you all.
@bababatty I'm so sorry to hear this. It just sucks. You have every right to be sad and angry. Be kind to yourself this weekend. Here's hoping for better with your fet.
So much going on in this board. By the time I read everything and digest it, it's time to go back to work!
@Dragonette505 OMG, those first few days drag on. I was so anxious because I didn't know what was going on inside. So happy some more people are starting soon. Good luck tomorrow!
@Hopeful_mom I'm glad they're all still in the running! Grow x5!
@Dwmmwd I'm glad you've got one completely normal to work with. That's really hard with the others. I understand how you're feeling. Seems like with all we've been through, we would have a larger number to try with. It's just not fair sometimes.
@bababatty Sorry your fresh didn't work out . Big hugs to you. The bright side is that you have a few more tries and I hope you have a better outcome with a FET.
AFM, I had a lining check and bw this morning. Much to my RE's surprise, I'm ready to go at 10mm. PIO wasn't ordered yet so they gave me one for tonight and the rest is being over-nighted. FET is set for this Wednesday! So close yet so far away.

This is so random, but any of you know if it is safe to whiten your teeth during an IVF cycle?
Me: 41; DH: 45 Both married for the first time in our 40s; went straight to IVF after multiple fibroid surgeries (2/17) ER: #1: agonist/antagonist protocol: 19 eggs; 8 mature; 13 fertilized; 1 7-day blast (6BA = abnormal/non-viable) (4/17) ER: #2: same protocol but stimmed an extra 2 days: 16 eggs; 10 mature (5 more matured in lab); 13 fertilized; 2 6-day blasts (5AA & 6BA) & 2 7-day blasts (6BA & 5BB): only 1 Day 6 6BA tested normal! FET on 7/10/17 Beta on 7/21/17: Negative:( (8/17) ER #3: 9 eggs; 6 mature; 3 fertilized; 1 7-day blast (6BA = abnormal/non-viable) Developed severe complications (abdominal bleeding) following egg retrieval which required hospitalization, transfusion & emergency surgery. Done with IVF.
dragonette505 they need a LAUGH like button here!! I'm falling asleep and trying to pop on for updates too, glad i'm not the only one! When is your next us?
Malibu45 hoping the meds work and you dont ovulate, sounds like you have a nice amount growing! Hope they're all around the same amount and ready to go!
@bababatty ugh sad to see your post!! I know its sucks and is so very hard! I'm glad you have some busy things planned ut even happier that you have more frosties ready to give you a bfp!! I'll be here with you waiting!
Dwmmwd you have so much to consider and I'm with all your thoughts 100% we just don't know what the future holds. Were you planning on doing another cycle? I'm thrilled you have that one and it will be your miracle!! Another girl only got ONE egg and just got a positive bfp...so there it hope for us all!! Heres my recap...They got 7 eggs but one looked wonky and they called it a dead egg.. what every gal wants to here. So I did icsi on 6. 5 fertilized, on day 2 they were all thriving, on day 3 they're still growing but 3 of the 5 are on track, so I'm hoping the others will catch up. Ii've never gotten back everything sent for testing to obviously I want as many as possible so i have a fighting chance as you can understand. The fact that I am in so much pain after this ER I'm praying I have more to send so its worth it...obviously anything normal will make me feel better!! Hopefully I get some good news this weekend!

@Bababatty I'm sorry to read this. We are here for you. I'm thankful you have the frozen embies, Ive never gotten that far and I truly hope the best for you with those!
@Dwmmwd I understand when it's not the news we want, but I'm glad for your normal one. Maybe this is the one, there is hope!
AFM, I'm on one of the highs of this daily roller coaster today: my estrogen was up from 160 Wednesday to 480 today and all sacs showed growth. The best part is that they needed to see at least 5 follies to proceed and I had 3 on the right with maybe 2 more small on the right, and 3 on the left! I'm feeling such relief. Next BW/US is Sunday which will be day 7 of stims.
Sorry all I typoed, I finished my IVF cycle in mid July, I corrected it. I was on here for most of that but needed a break the last few weeks from IVF world.
@Dwmmwd Risk does greatly depend on which mutation & if it's in BRCA 1 or 2. And no it's not clear cut at all, hopefully the genetic counselor can help. You're right that not having a BRCA mutation is not a guarantee, I was diagnosed with Breast Cancer at 27 & I have no known mutations and a really low rate of cancer in my family. I do feel the need to say almost all of the other really young (under 30) women I know who've had breast cancer had a BRCA mutation. I know it sucks to have to consider this but I'm glad people can now, cancer really sucks.
For or anyone that interested there is a newer technology callled CRISPER that was a huge breakthrough in eventually be able to correct mutations but it's 10+ years from being used in humans. It's a really powerful way to edit DNA but how to actually use it safely and in humans has to be worked.
@Dmwwmd It is kind of crazy that we know so much about these embryos and ourselves (I'm on 23 and me and have been able to see many reports on some of my health risks). I don't think you can necessarily make a "wrong" decision. Ultimately the choice is yours. Both of my friends sisters did IVF and they chose to exclude brca for both m and f embies... but that was their choice based on how common and aggressive cancers are in their family (tw: great gm, gm and mom as well as uncles almost all died before 50 not skipping anyone, so for them its really aggressive). You have to think of what works for you and your history.
@Bababatty UGH... so sorry. Definitely grab some wine and chocolate and a dumb movie. It wont fix anything, but it will may today a little easier. Sending hugs
@allycheer00 OMG!!! Look at you with that fluffy lining!! That was a quick turn around! Is this your first PIO? I hear its painful! but if it works, yay!
@algelbea lol... I bet its safe since they say you can do dental work, but I know my earthy crunchy azz would skip it because I'm paranoid and would think I was ruining things. If youre not paranoid, then maybe ask your nurse and go glow
@Hopeful_mom THANK YOU for the update... I hate how your lab made me wait all day (lol!!) Maybe some of the laggers will catch up a day late.. ive got a day 6 frostie as well as day 5's.
I am still stalking the heck out of @BusinessWife and her AF!
@Bababatty I'm sorry I wish I could send your some chocolate and wine to make things better, but I know that won't fix things. I know our clinic has a higher success rate with frozen transfers than fresh, so maybe your odds will be better for the next one. I know it doesn't take the hurt of today away, so just remember you're not alone, you are seen and loved by us

@Dwmmwd - what a difficult position to be in - ugh. I'm sorry; I know I would find that very stressful.
We decided not to do the PGS testing, because of our ages (it wasn't recommended - like, hopefully I won't have a higher rate of miscarriage than someone my age). We decided not to do PGS even though there is a (very very small) streak of some different trisomy disorders in my family. I just figured, if I miscarry or I find out later, I'll deal with that as it comes - I guess part of me thought: "why would I approach this differently than I'd approach a regular pregnancy?" I'm with you - I never would terminate a viable pregnancy for bcra. It feels unfair that on top of all of this other stuff you've dealt with, that you may need to make that decision. I think @dragonette505 has given good advice - you have to do what works for you and your family.
@Bababatty - I'm so so so sorry. What a f*cking b*tch. Sending you all my good thoughts and vibes and lots of hugs and even a giant glass of wine. F*CK - that is horrible news!
@Malibu45 Woot Woot! Glad that did the trick! What are your follicle sizes? Any idea how many more days on stims?
@dragonette505 TBH this "full steam ahead" approach we've been using has me a little worried when it comes to the FET. So many people have had to postpone for whatever reason or another so I'm kinda like, Is my RE missing something?? I'm doing all kinds of praying. Tonight will be my first PIO experience. I've been told to use a heating pad for 10 mins before and rub real good after. That's supposed to help with the pain. I sure hope it does!

This is my first IVF cycle and it sure is a rollercoaster ! I feel like everyday I see so different...and one small thing could ruin the cycle!
As of today I have 17 follicles ranging from 11-18...estrogen level is 1200 and LH dropped from 20 to 4.76 thanks to the Ganirelix ! My RE said I can stay on the Ganirelix for 3-4 days..so most likely I will trigger on Monday and retrieval Wednesday ! That would mean my IVF cycle from start of the follistim to egg retrieval day was 12 days total. As of now I am on Ganirelix twice a day, follistim and menopur in the PM
ETA but also my head has been killing me all day. Maybe that's a good sign? We had our fasting blood work this morning after all and had to go straight into work afterwards so I had a banana and a nectarine and some carrot sticks ...and that was all I had until lunch, which I didn't get to take until 3:40, so maybe that has something to do with the headache, too, plus the rainstorm :/
@Malibu45 wow, that was fast! @allycheer00 I'm sure they are looking at your history and going at the speed they think will be best for you. It's hard not to second guess your doc, I do the same, but I try to "trust " at least during the cycle (but ask any pressing questions). @Hopeful_mom it "should" get better daily little by little (when my doc told me that on my last cycle it was not what I wanted to hear!) it does get better after AF. Like the dam bursts and all the pressure and pain goes. @BusinessWife ok... I'll do the special routine I did to make mine come (besides the white pants!)
I did my very first PIO all by myself!!! I forgot my husband had plans to go bowling with coworkers so I decided to try it myself instead of waiting. YouTube for the win!

So I got my PGD results.
TW
I'm not a very religious person, but after having to do a D&C when my amniotic sac ruptured- (I'm assuming the baby was gone before they did it, but I actually didn't ask, but it wasn't compatible with making it to a living baby) I got a different perspective on things like termination and abortion.

I knew next day was gonna be day 1 lol
@Dwmmwd So amazing for your normie!!!
This was already a multimonth thread lol
@megmac2@BusinessWife Dude! me too... I'm like cmoooon AF!! lol Last night my husband was like why are you checking that forum again. I was like: to see if my friend got her period. LOL he was all
I am in the middle of my first IVF cycle.

So much going on in this board. By the time I read everything and digest it, it's time to go back to work!
@Dragonette505 OMG, those first few days drag on. I was so anxious because I didn't know what was going on inside. So happy some more people are starting soon. Good luck tomorrow!
@Businesswife Update! Is today CD1?
@bababatty Sorry your fresh didn't work out

Developed severe complications (abdominal bleeding) following egg retrieval which required hospitalization, transfusion & emergency surgery. Done with IVF.

@hopeful_mom sounds like a good report!
@momifbysea YAAAAAAY! That is the best news! What a good day you had. So excited for you!

@Bababatty - I'm so so so sorry.
