@radmom27- so many big decisions in this process, and the stress of making them is huge. Its hard when there is no "right" answer to any of the things you are deciding. Hope you are able to find some clarity. I am one of those people that like to make a decision quickly and go with it, but with some of these big decisions, I did need at least a few days or a week to really make. I know we all want to be done with this IF yesterday, but take the time you need to decide.

I got some not great news today. I was soo excited about transfer being 6 weeks away, but my clinic emailed today that something came up for the donor and we have to delay 1 month to September. I know its only 1 month, but I am devastated. Its just always something. The clinic director said she did speak to the donor for a while and that it was truly an unforeseen event and that the donor is committed, but I am just terrified of more delays. September is a crazy month for me at work and DH with school/work, but we will just have to make it work I guess. Just praying I somehow get my BFP before my 30th bday at the end of September or thats gonna be a hard one

I did get my new calendar and transfer is estimated between 9/24-9/28.. so definitely won't have my BFP by my birthday, but hopefully shortly after! O well... as long as it works... I can handle waiting the next two months!

I finally got the go-ahead for next steps. We need to schedule appts with our RE and the DE social worker, then we will need to wait for insurance authorization...then we can finally choose a donor. I'm hoping we can anticipate a November cycle. I hate to wish the summer away but I'm so anxious to get started.

@laurad- have you got your RE meeting scheduled? I really hope your DH and you are able to agree on a donor easily! I found it funny bc it's a huge decision, but we also didn't really find it that big of a deal since none of them are me anyways.. and one we have that child, we know we won't be able to imagine it any other way.
@radmom27- are you switching clinics to one with an inhouse donor database? That's how we are doing ours and it's nice since so much screening is done!

@radmom27 Where are you in New England and what clinic are you using with an in-house network. I'm in Boston and we go to Boston IVF who does not have an in house clinic but work with several agencies around the country.
I'm also hoping to cycle this fall. The coordinator I spoke to last week told me once we are matched with a donor it will likely be about 8 weeks from there. The thought of finally being pregnant by the end of the year is so exciting but I'm trying not to get my hopes up too much.

Just checking in here and so excited to see y'all with your plans to move ahead. I know it still feels like a lot of hurry up and wait, but.... you're on the way!
@JamieH2000 So awesome that you have a tentative schedule! I know it doesn't seem like it, but September will be here before you know it! Hopefully, being busy will help make the time fly by. And personally, I like to celebrate my birthday for a few weeks, so you can always just say your future BFP is a delayed birthday present - !
@laurad75 Congrats on being approved for next steps. It will definitely be interesting to find out how DH approaches the donor! I ended up feeling a lot like @JamieH2000 - none of them were me, so we tried not to get too hung up on the physical characteristics. We did look for someone who was above avg. height (I'm 5'8") and preferred curly hair, but in the end it was education, her personal essays, and health history that were prioritized. I reasoned, if we were adopting, we would consider any/all babies available, so.... Here's to hoping you're KU before the end of the year!
@radmom27 Ugh, so many lessons in patience, and I still suck at it. August is just around the corner, though.... Hopeful that the new clinic and donor pool are the right fit and you can cycle before the end of the year. It definitely seems like in-house donor programs move ahead a bit more quickly than other types of donor matching. Keep us posted as you move forward!

@radmom27- I feel like there should be decent options in the NE, as MA has that awesome infertility coverage law. Were you able to get a log in for the new clinic's donor database or do they make you wait until you meet with them? I feel like I was able to get access pretty easily to a couple of clinic's lists. Have you decided to forgo the last FET your frozen embryos? I know that must be a hard decision, but I totally get it after SO much dissapointment on this journey.
@laurad75- I pray it all comes together for you by the end of the year too! Its like once you finally get to this point, we are SOO ready to just have success and move on. FX you can get into your clinic and agencies ASAP!
@fivetimesnoluck- thanks for checking in on us! How are things going for you? Have you shared the news yet with everyone? I love your thinking about a late bday present! I guess at least I will be super hopeful on my bday (as I usually stay postiive for a few days until the doubts start to creep in .

@JamieH2000 I am doing well. I am officially through the first trimester and starting to feel like my bump is a bit more baby/uterus related and a little less previously-established beer belly. We were super open with our circle of family and friends by the time it came to our transfer, so they all knew when we got the positive beta test.
I've started to share the news with colleagues and other acquaintances when it makes sense and that has been fun! The only social media account I have is instagram and I am not sure whether I will post an announcement there or not. If so, it will include pieces of our story and how difficult it was to get here. I don't tell everyone about our pregnancy resulting from a donor egg, but I am not hiding it either. If it fits into the conversation I will share. Most of the time, I just say it was a difficult path and in the end we required a lot of science!
I did have a really cool experience when I was touring a day care recently. The administrator who took me on the tour and I were talking afterwards and somehow it came up that we had had difficulty before this pregnancy and she chose to share with me that she was in the process of completing the work to serve as a gestational carrier for a homosexual couple. I got all misty eyed and told her about us requiring a donor and how even though I don't know my donor, I thank her daily for giving us this opportunity. I told her she was doing an amazing, selfless thing and wished her luck - we totally bonded over that discussion and in a weird way, I was grateful that I got to share my gratitude with someone who is giving such a remarkable gift.
Me: 40, DH: 35 / Married: 2009; TTC #1: 2013
2013 - 2015: 5 pregnancies —> 5 miscarriages
TTCAL with RE (RPL specialist): February 2016
2016: 3 medicated TI cycles —> 3 medicated IUI cycles: All BFN
I just thought I'd share my story using donor eggs. I'm AMA (39 y/o), have stage 4 endometriosis, low AMH and high FSH. When I saw an RE, he recommended DE right away. I was devastated. I cried for about a week or so and then thought about the fact that I would adopt if I couldn't have my own child and then it didn't seem so bad. And at least I'd be able to carry the baby and experience pregnancy. However, seeing that I had never tried my OE, I wasn't ready to jump to donor eggs.
A friend I met in an endometriosis forum told me about a clinic she went to in Cyprus. She used DE (this was her 4th IVF attempt) and **TW** was about 5 months pregnant with twins at the time. She now has her two healthy babies **END TW**. Her endometriosis specialist recommended the clinic. I decided to look into it as well. This clinic offers a tandem cycle in which both you and the donor stim at the same time and are triggered to ovulate at the same time. They will retrieve both sets of eggs, fertilize them with your SO's sperm and after 5 days determine which (or a combination of both) embryos you'd like to transfer. In the US, they don't offer tandem and I've read that they say it's too hard to sync cycles. This clinic had no problems with that.
You have the option of starting stim meds here in the US with an RE and then spending day 6 through the rest of the cycle in Cyprus. Of course, if it is strictly a donor cycle you only need to spend about 2-2.5 weeks there. I had enough flexibility in my schedule to spend 3.5 weeks there and start the whole process in Cyprus. The meds are so much more expensive here! So much so, that even paying for my hotel and expenses everyday was cheaper than paying for meds in the US. Unfortunately, my follicles stopped growing after a while so we went with the DE. Everyone there was so nice and friendly and one of the nurses aides even fasted and prayed for me during the transfer. **TW We transferred two embryos and I'm now 20 weeks pregnant! END TW**. I really couldn't be happier. I did have a moment of panic while watching something on TV and the daughter looked so much like the mom and it made me a little sad that I wouldn't experience that. I quickly straightened up because my SO could have really strong genes and our biological children could look nothing like me as well. I'm happy with the choice we made and I basically got two IVF cycles in one (OE +DE) for about $12,000. That's including flights for me and SO, hotel, food, spending money and all clinic fees including the first year of storage for our leftover embryos. The one drawback to using DE in Cyprus is they don't allow you to see pics of the donors. Since I would adopt anyway, it wasn't a huge deal for me. They give you a physical description and you can request a pen portrait where the donor tells you a little bit about themselves. If anyone would like more info, please feel free to ask or PM me. Good luck and baby dust to all of you!

@JamieH2000 Not yet. We have been so busy that there hasn't been an opportunity for us to sit down and focus on it. I don't want it to be like when we were picking out a TV stand and I just kept showing him things online I liked. I want to schedule time for us to talk about it and show him the different agency sites. I did go through and delete all the donors that I 'favorited' because I don't want to influence who he is drawn to. We have an appointment with our RE next Monday and I think after that will be a good time to show him. Meanwhile, everytime I get an email that says 'new donors have been added to our data base' I get completely giddy.
How is the wait going for you, Jamie?

@laurad- I totally get the being excited when new donors are added so there are some you think would work for you? That is exciting bc that is half the battle! Hopefully your DH likes some of the ones that you do too! We had talked about what we wanted enough that when we picked separately we picked the same three! I would reco picking a top 3 if you can since some of them may not be available or work out right away.
ive been trying to wait patiently and being on vacation this last week has helped! My baseline is in 5 weeks, start lupron in 4, so really just have to make it thru august! I'm gonna try to keep busy and working out more and try to lose some weight. We have our phone chat with the psychologist on Monday (second one) since we are now a known donation since we are both open to exchanging contact info. Hopefully we will have the legal contract signed soon too!

@JamieH2000 That's great! Once the activity starts it will hopefully go quickly. How was your vacation?
I have a short list of donors that I think could be a good fit. Ideally she would be in the New England area but I think we would be happy to pay for her travel if she was a perfect fit. I'm so curious if H's picks and mine match up.
I'm trying to get back in shape too. The IVF meds really changed my body and I wasn't exercising at the level I'm used to during treatment. It's been nice to start running and stuff again this summer.

@fivetimesnoluck I totally agree with the way you feel about women who carry babies for other people. I think they deserve the highest reward. Without them, science isn't able to help people with IF diagnosis. And I wonder how women help total strangers to become happy. This is the peak of kindness. This is unbelievable. And that is true: the real parents are the ones who bring the child up, show him/her the world and love him/her like nothing else in the world.
I was always wondering what would we do 70 years ago when it wasn't possible to treat IF like it is now. I think all the women who passed this long way and finally became mothers should contribute to the development of this sphere. And it's not only about money. It's about sharing experience, blogging, supporting each other. Recommending each other what's good and what's bad. Being grateful to the specialists who cured us. Being together, building the community and sharing with others is our superpower. Letting people know their heroes - like the women you met, is what we have to do.
@laurad75- Vacation was great and really helped pass a week quickly! Now I'm wishing I had taken the whole week off and wasn't back at work today haha. I was doing good about eating and working out before my trip, but wasn't good during it! Time to get back on the healthy eating and working out this weekend! I feel like the IVF treatment for the last 3 really gave me some tummy pudge that I just can't get rid of! Keep us posted once you talk with your RE and pick a donor!

we are finally making some progress. We met with the RE earlier this week and he said all our test results look good so we can move ahead with choosing our donor. H and I took some time last night to look at the agency databases and it went just as I had expected. I think H was expecting to see pages and pages of beautiful brilliant young women that would be perfect and that's not exactly what its like. We agreed on 4 that we both liked but we are undecided on our first choice (we have two different first choices). We are going to try and agree on someone today. I'm very anxious to officially request a first choice so she doesn't get snatched up but also don't want to rush him.

@laurad- I know what you mean about there not being a ton to choose from. I think 4 is a great number to have agreed on, hopefully you won't need that many.. but just in case. Also their schedules/availability may help you decide your first choice unfortunately. Do you know anything about their availabilitiy yet? So exciting to get going!
AFM- just hoping to have legal finalize this week since we officially agreed to exchange names/emails. My baseline is 4 weeks away, so that is starting to feel sooner!

We are waiting to hear back if she 'accepted' but we know that the agency talked to her yesterday to confirm she would be in the area. There was some confusion and the agency first told me that she would be leaving town to go back to school but its the opposite - she is coming back to Boston for school. She won't be able to come to the clinic for screening until early next month but that's okay. She is worth the wait. She's adorable and brilliant, a great athlete and she has stunning blue eyes. Please send good vibes that she is available to work with us so we can move on to next steps.

AFM, it's been one hell of a month! We chose a donor and had the frozen eggs shipped to our clinic a few weeks ago. There were some issues during the thaw and only 5 of the 8 made it through the thaw and then only 3 fertilized correctly. It was really frustrating and all I kept thinking was "3?!?!? I can make 3!". But I'm happy to say that 2 made it to blast to be sampled for PGS and then were frozen. We got our PGS results last week-1 is normal and 1 was "unable to give a result". Essentially what our embryologist said is that this happens sometimes and it could be for a few reasons-1. they didn't get a large enough sample, 2. something happened to the sample or 3. the sample was so degraded or bad that it couldn't be tested. All except for #3 are not necessarily bad things so they advised us to treat it as an untested blast. So we're now gearing up for a FET in early October, which sounds like maybe the same time frame as you both @laurad75 and @JamieH2000 ?
Congrats to you, @laurad75 - having the donor secured is an amazing feeling! I am so very happy for you! (Paying for it is another story, but part and parcel, right?!)
@20T Congratulations on your two blasts! I can imagine your frustration with the results of thaw and fertilization, but you've got two and that's what's important right now. Did the bank you used offer any type of thaw or blast guarantee?
@JamieH2000 Very excited that you're moving ahead and getting all of the administrative tasks out of the way! four weeks will seem to drag, but will actually be here in no time.
It does sound like you all have the possibility of cycling closely together! Can't wait to get to your transfers!!
Sending big hugs and congrats to each of you!
(We are calling our LO Baby Avocado, a play on our last name, so you'll have to excuse my corny obsession with all things avocado recently.)

@laurad75- omg so happy for you!!! And I know how you feel about the fee! It's a lot but everyone promises it will be worth every penny! What's next now? Do you both have attorneys to iron out the legal agreement
@20t- congrats on the two blasts!! You are already so far along now in the process? Why is it so long for an FET? WIll you transfer both? I feel the majority of the inclusive I have seen on here have just been they didn't get a cell really to test. Given the age of donors, odds are it should be normal!
@fivetimesnoluck- thanks! I love avocado so I think that's awesome. Glad to hear things are going good for your pregnancy!!
i think we will all be pretty close, my estimated transfer is the last week of Sept!

Good luck and baby dust to all of you!

ive been trying to wait patiently and being on vacation this last week has helped!

Please send good vibes that she is available to work with us so we can move on to next steps.

yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay!!!!
