Went for my redraw today. Levels went up a little from 228 to 370 so we are proceeding but holding our breath. I go back thursday for a third draw and then Friday i see the DR. Please smed positive vibes for good numbers Thursday!
Randomly enough, I have an appointment with my RE (booked ages ago) booked at the end of the week. On the one hand, the appt is moot, but on the other, she books up so very far out that it feels like sacrilege to cancel.
@kueviah Did you get results from your betas yesterday? @julzy GL with your BW today! @holly321 Did you find out if your U/S got moved up? @alweldon86 Thinking of you... @jodes727 FX for good BW for you today!

I just cancelled an appointment that i had with a hot-shot, out of state RE. It was so cool to be able to cancel it, and the receptionist was very excited for me, but it was scary because the illogical side of me hopes I'm not jinxing myself!
@Can't wait to hear about your US on Wednesday @mispanda!
AFM, I have my first US scheduled for Monday, and then I made my first OB appointment for September 15. Again, the illogical side of me hopes that I'm not jinxing anything, but the OB I want books out pretty far, so I wanted to make sure I could get in with her.
@lahanna if you weren't under the care of an RE when you got your BFP then most OB's won't do betas nor see you until 8-10 weeks. Us reproductively challenged women get some extra stuff to make sure we have sticky beans before we graduate to the care of an OB.
If your OB sees you at 6.5 weeks that's honestly pretty early!
@lahanna I think that's pretty standard. I got an early appt because I had two MCs in a row before this pregnancy, but they still wouldn't check betas for me. I'm getting my first U/S at 8 weeks.

Am I the only one who doesn't get betas? I won't be seen till 6.5 weeks? No ultrasound then either.
It's unusual for someone with a low risk pregnancy to get betas. Usually your first OB appt won't even be until 7 to 10 weeks. If you want them, you have to bug your regular doc into it.
I went to my confirmation of pregnancy appointment yesterday and the receptionist told me to go give a urine sample. I come back a few minutes later and ask if that's all I needed to do and she said yes you're free to go. An hour later, I get a call from the office asking if I were running late for my appointment... They advised that the receptionist got me confused with someone else and they need to reschedule me for next Tuesday. Bummer but oh well.

@hedgepig, they did not move my ultrasound up, which with some consideration, I consider a good thing, because my OB is out of town this week and a 6 week ultrasound is not as good as a 7 week. Plus, I will be a paranoid mess until I can start feeling this baby move (tw, 2nd trimester loss before.) But in good news, my HCG tripled. My progesterone is still low, but it did get higher.
And what exactly is a confirmation appointment? I have never had one that I was aware of. The nurse mentioned that I should schedule one (even with betas and an internal?). I told her I was already scheduled for an ultrasound next week since I took clomid.
Thank you Ladies! Hanging in there, it is a long week waiting till my next test on Thursday.
Also my OB didnt want to see me until 7 weeks at least, but since i had a prior MC amd started to have some bleeding the ran my betas. They wint do am US at my office till 8-9 weeks if the levels keep looking good.
I had my first u/s this morning and got all of my levels checked. My HCG level is over 22,000 now and estrogen and progesterone are well over where they need to be. I was able to see the flicker of the heartbeat and measured 5w 5d. Going by my LMP I'm 6w 1d, so only a few days off. I go back in next Wednesday for another u/s and blood draw. I only get betas drawn and early monitoring because of previous miscarriages. Otherwise my OB does an u/s at 8 weeks for the first appointment.
What is the point of a confirmation of pregnancy appt? So they can charge your insurance company (or you) to come to the office and take a pregnancy test that you could take at home? Seems like a waste of everyone's time.
Heading to my RE this morning for a blood draw, will hopefully have results later this afternoon. So excited to tell my nurse about my positive tests! She has been my biggest cheerleader throughout this whole process.
@orangecup cant speak for other women, but I'm going in for a blood test because I have been seeing an RE for infertility issues and conceived using medication. I'll continue to see my RE every week for additional blood draws and eventually an ultrasound before being released to my regular OB around 8 weeks.

This makes sense. Someone upthread was talking about going just to pee in a cup and I was confused.
@holly321 I've never heard of a confirmation appointment either? My OB said that home pregnancy tests are so accurate nowadays that they no longer do blood or urine tests. I don't remember when the peeing in a cup thing starts thought, I remember peeing in a cup every appointment last time after however many weeks
My doctor does a confirmation appointment. Basically I pee in a cup and she gives me a bunch of info on pregnancy. Then you schedule an ultrasound. At least that's what she did last time. I will see today because I'm going to that appointment.
@orangecup@kimmerann3 My docor also does the confirmation appt. There were several reasons my office wanted to see me: 1) some people need a "proof of pregnancy" for their insurance or whatnot, so they give you that, 2) to talk to you in person/answer questions about what you should or should not be doing, 3) to introduce you to the structure of the practice and make future appointments (U/S, NIPT). I can see that these don't seem very important to a STM+, but it really helps calm down FTMs Edit: @kimmerann3 I hope you have a nice appt today!

I am of two minds on confirmation appointments. If the pregnancy is low risk, and no RE is involved, and there is no blood draw, I personally don't see the point. They literally LITERALLY dip a pregnancy strip in your pee. You are paying 500 bucks for someone to do what you could do at home.
However, if a quantitative HCG blood draw is done, at least you can get your beta number and see what your levels are to compare to how far along you are. The problem is that HCG levels can vary so wildly from person to person, that without a comparative draw two days later, there is extremely limited value in the first one.

In other news eat before you get your betas drawn. I was feeling light headed and fainted.
