  • @Tennis11785 I LOVE that idea! I like to have my tree up by the end of November, so should this kiddo arrive on time (Dec 13) it would be perfect! Thanks for sharing!

  • DD turns 1 this week and starts transition to the one-year-old class at daycare. She had a great time at her birthday party this weekend and her grandparents are coming to visit her this week, but I'm a little  :'(:'( that she is getting so big!

  • @KathrynJ088 This is exactly why I try to exclusively shop online for baby and maternity stuff now haha. I go into Target to pick up moisturizer and come out with a ton of cute baby clothes.
  • We are planning to repurpose the room I currently use as my office/hobby space for the nursery. Every time I walk in I feel overwhelmed. There is so mic work to do in that room and I need to figure out where to put the piano, bookshelf, sewing machine.
Since we live in the PNW I'm now paranoid about earthquake safety and how to bolt everything to the wall so it won't fall on the baby.
  • @KathrynJ088 I keep buying adorable onesies that I find, telling myself "I love this so much I don't want to wait around to see if someone else might buy it." It's definitely tough holding off on a lot of the bigger/fun purchases, though, I'm a Type-A planner and I don't like having to wait!

  • Thanks, @ktcakes87!

I was wasting time on pinterest last night, and I came across some links that were discussing making your child's birthday special during the holidays.  One of the pictures showed a family that turns the Christmas tree into a birthday tree.  You can leave the Christmas ornaments on it, but just cover the tree in balloons and streamers.  I thought it sounded like such a fun idea.  Perhaps the "birthday elves" could help transform the tree overnight leading into the child's birthday.
i saw this too and saved it!  my birthday is on 12/19, and i have a twin, and our oldest sister's bday is 12/20...so birthdays at our house growing up (4 kids total) were pretty much combined and the holidays were all jumbled up.  i never had my own birthday party til i was 18 in college with my friends.

so, i definitely want this baby to have a special day of their own, even though their birthday will be so close to xmas.

  • Gahhhhh I want to buy all the things, but we're moving at the end of sept and I don't want to have any extra stuff. It's so hard though!  I'm super OCD and am dying to get the nursery started, but I can't. We don't even get the house until Sept 7th, and then we are installing all new white oak flooring through the entire 3000 sq ft home, AND remodeling the entire kitchen. And we move in sept 29th. Hahahahahaha. This'll be so fun  (Layered with sarcasm).
    Serenity now

  • Anyone else sometimes have to stop themselves from writing 'DH' like in a text or something? I feel like I'm going to slip up and text it to my mom at some point.

@YodaIsGreen We're in So. Cal so I have similar earthquake (and, let's be honest, tiny climbers like @cait5413 mentioned) concerns about all of the bookshelves in the house.  And similar overwhelmed-feelings when I look at all of the office "crap" I need to get out of the soon-to-be nursery.

We've been making excellent progress on our Goodwill donations goal for the year, though.

@KathrynJ088 I... don't wait if it's something I really want.  We're registered at Amazon, so if we end up with duplicates then back they go, and we'll have gift-card monies for diapers, etc.  I'm sure this is terrible on some level and invites quite a bit of side eye, but I hope it's karmically balanced out by the fact that I already have cute cards AND stamps AND the address book ready to go for writing baby shower thank-yous.

  • @kyrwyn We're still waiting on buying most registry stuff, but we have both an Amazon & a Target registry and I started registering for the same things on each site. That way if we get multiple, I'll just return extras to Target and get a gift card. No shame!

i'm the opposite in that seeing the number in the mid-100s just makes me go UGHHHH. SO MANY DAYS. once it gets lower, like at least two digits instead of three, maybe. i think last time it was more of a final month count.

i mean, by nature this is pretty random but i did get a good chuckle out of "biting string cheese" and i wondered what year we're talking about here for N'Sync. like who even thinks about them in 2017?

@YodaIsGreenkyrwyn   Our LO's future room has been my dump/storage room for years.  It's intimidating to think about cleaning it out.  So far, I've gone through our extra books...listed any worth more than $5 on amazon and donated the rest (about 200) to the local library (they sell them).  Now, the dozens of other boxes and piles.

  • @MJDsquared I actually truly hate biting string cheese and I live in IL. My daughter bites it and it drives me totally nuts, pull that apart!

  • @jlemons-2 i can't wait until Christmas stuff starts coming out in stores!! I'm very eager to buy the baby a stocking with her name on it. Pottery Barn Kids has some cute ones but their selection right now sucks because they're trying to get rid of Christmas 2016 stuff. Bring on the new line!!!

  • @peachy13 You are amazing! I was just complaining in my Monday ticker change board about how little we've accomplished, but I just showed DH these prices and he seems totally onboard with buying the crib/changing table at such a good price. We have a small house, so space is very limited--I think that knowing bigger furniture is being shipped to us is exactly the motivation we need to get moving. Thank you!!

  • I've be reading it alllllll day.  Simply amazing.
  • Everyone go read "What should I do?" in March! Big thanks to @LemmyRN for posting that in January where I was lurking. My Woman Crush Wednesday tomorrow goes out to the March BMB (most of them) lol.
Now I want to know what the "heartbeat" debaucle was...
  • @NME44 - I can't remember which thread, but someone said that they believe the heart starts beating at conception.  And other people responded that life can begin at conception but the heart doesn't exist and therefore can't start beating until later.  And then it turned into a whoollle debate.

  • @djd0404 yay!! I read the reviews too and they were all pretty positive and say both items are fairly easy to assemble.

  • @nme44 it was a thread from last week. Basically, someone was adamant that to her, there's a heartbeat at day 1, which is scientifically inaccurate. She kept insisting that it was true - TO HER - but some other people felt that it was misleading and could scare people who went for an early us and don't hear a heartbeat. It turned into a religious thing, I think, and there you have it.
  • Those March ladies have already had lots of excitement! Did y'all notice one of the latest posts is from a rando who got kicked out of a FB group somehow because of a conversation related to the thread? Countdown to shut down...
