Totally random question: I'm going back to work in two weeks (I'm a teacher on summer vacation) and our admin wants us to go bowling as a team building exercise. I'll be 37 weeks pregnant. This sounds like a really bad idea. Any thoughts on bowling that late in pregnancy? I'm not a regular bowler - haven't gone in years. I'm worried I'll hurt myself.
@eeyorefan215 I vote just go and hang out/socialize but don't bowl. Those balls can be heavy and you don't want to hurt yourself! Plus your balance will be off center and the bowling ball swing can really make you off-balance.

Random question: not asking for medical advice really more just should I ask my doctor about it...I was looking at my ultrasound from Friday and noticed that baby is in the 96% for head size and 14% on femur length. The ultrasound results say they found nothing abnormal. I'm thinking about asking my doctor about the large differences... I'm just picturing this giant headed baby with T-Rex legs lol am i crazy or would y'all think that sounded odd too?
@Breath_Easy92 I would think that sounds odd too and even if they said nothing was abnormal, it's good for your own piece of mind to know why there isn't cause for concern. When I had a growth scan last week, the dr told me everything looks great, the baby is estimated to be 4 lbs 13 oz and 30th percentile. Even though the dr was saying everything was great, that immediately sounded worrisome to me because at the previous growth scan 3 weeks before he measured 54th percentile and all growth scans before that he has been at least 40th percentile. So I asked and the dr said it was totally fine and they often don't stay on the same track and 30th percentile seemed like it made sense based on my size (I'm 5'2" with small frame). I was really glad I asked right away just so I didn't need to worry about it for a week until I would have another chance to ask.
@Breath_Easy92 I would definitely ask. I'm sure they hear lots of dumb questions and I don't think yours is a dumb one at all. If you do ask and get an interesting answer, please share!
@Breath_Easy92 Our LO is measuring similarly as well, but the MFM has said everything is normal at each of our weekly scans. My LO is measuring in the 85th percentile but her femur percentile is only 27. I can't help but imagine a big baby with short little Basset hound legs.

My 1st was like this as a baby. 90th in head, 15th in growth. Now he is still around 90th for head circumference, but 50th for height. He is totally healthy and following his own curve. If you're concerned please do ask. Hopefully they can put all your concerns to rest.
Thanks everyone I talked to the doctor and she laughed she said that his head is big but she expected that after she saw my husband haha and the leg growth is in the normal range. It's not uncommon with the placental issues I've had and he will catch up quickly!
Can I just say how utterly pathetic and disgusting Trump rule in the US is? WTF to rolling back our freaking progress on the gender discrimination front! Ugh!

It really disgusts me. He is a terrible president.

It also sucks that AG Jeff Sessions thinks that civil rights don't protect the LGBTQ. I am so full of rage today.
Dropping my H's car off for a recall this am. Hopefully they don't take all day to fix it. It's going to be a hot one, so I think we will start going through my son's baby stuff and try to organize around here.
@lilpoots did I hear organizing?! Haha I have been the most rediculous nester lately! Holy wow! I have to have all the cuboard, closets, drawers cleaned and organized and just everything in order. In my mind I still have a ton to do but in reality we would be ok if I had this baby today. Lol
Ahhh I need help I'm having a first time mom melt down someone gave us a pack and play with a changing table and bassinet insert in it... I planned on using it at night for him to sleep in until he starts sleeping longer stretches. I've told quite a few people this plan and no one said anything until I mentioned it to my cousin today and she said it's not safe? No where in the manual does it say that you can't use it over night. It said 1. Only for infants under 15 lbs 2. Only for infants under 3 months 3. Discontinue use if infant can push up or roll over by themselves. So my question is what are your alls opinions? The bassinet part has mesh siding where you put the baby's head and it is pretty flat/firm on the bottom. I'll attach a picture, im sorry I don't know how to put it in a spoiler box.
@breath_easy92 I have the very same pack n play! I will be using it overnight and it is right next to my bed. I loved the way it looked on the website but I also had some concerns when I saw how the fabric bunched together on the sleeper portion. I like the breathable mesh on the side of the sleeper but I wish that there was a bit more of that material rather than the other fabric.
SO and I plan on making some modifications to make the fabric not so bunched up. If we can't do it we are going to just buy a mattress pad for it and take the sleeper part off of it entirely.
@msashley2010-2 thanks, the fabric seems fairly well spread out on our but I agree, it seems like the mesh area should be bigger. I'm going to call the company tomorrow and ask about it I think.
Hey, everyone! Sorry I've been MIA for so long. Life has gotten really hectic over here, but things are good. My first shower is tomorrow evening, so that should be fun! I hope you're all doing well, and everything s coming together as you prepare. Can you believe we're so close to having our babies?! It just seems impossible that September is only five weeks away!
@Breath_Easy92 I have one that's similar. My understanding is that the attachment on top is intended for use as a "napper," and not extended sleep for night time. Baby would sleep on the actual mattress part (the teal mattress in your pic)
Has anyone seen the thread in August 2017 where they are making their predictions on when they think baby will arrive and what the size of baby will be?!
I think thats cool?! Would you guys what to do something like that?!
@adoo, I'm sure I'll be way off in my estimate, but that sounds fun. Today marks four more weeks of work until my maternity leave begins. I can't wait to put my feet up for (hopefully) a few weeks before baby girl arrives.
Update: just heard back from the company and this one is intended for all night use. Unlike the previous model this one has the mesh and is flat. The previous model had a napper and it was inclined and not as deep. The women who called me back about it though acting like I was an idiot for even asking.
@adoo I think that sounds like a fun idea does it count as cheating if I know my induction day? Haha

Ahhh! Terrible teacher's nightmare, now I'm awake at 5 am making a giant to do list on my phone of everything I need to do on Monday when I go back to school. Seating charts, attendance lists, copies, etc... to avoid the problems in my teacher nightmare.

Those are the worst, and they never go away!!!! I have more now than I did when I first started teaching
@divinemsm620 None of the students would listen to me, but it was mostly my fault because I didn't have anything done. No seating charts, I forgot to take any attendance, my laptop wouldn't connect to the projector, oh man, the list goes on.
Would there be any interest in creating a teacher thread? I feel like as a pregnant teacher, there's some specific problems we get to deal with, like no bathroom breaks when your 8 months pregnant, bad subs, etc... And also when we get back from maternity leave, like trying to find a place, or time to pump. It could be a place to vent or ask questions. Just a thought.

I had a horrible one about them not listening a few months back, and to top it off, I didn't have a lesson plan. Yours sounds pretty bad. Fortunately it is just a dream!!!

Although my teaching situation is a different context, I would like that too!
Nesting! I have vacuumed all the blinds, window sills, and baseboards. Now I need volunteers to come wipe down the baseboards from food stains etc. Come one come all...

I feel like someone needs to invent a Roomba attachment for this. That would be amazing!
My baby shower is on Saturday! What do you think would be an appropriate gift to give to my mom and MIL, who are hosting? And do you think there are aunt things I can give to my sis and SILs for during the shower? I am wondering if there is a sash I can give each of them. I live near Party City so I can easily check there, or I could maybe craft something.
@divinemsm620 I got gormet chocolate and coffee from Winanns as gifts and wrote a longer anthan adverage thank you card for each of my hosts (I had 2 showers and 4 hosts). As for your sister and SIL I'm not sure we didn't do any of that but I would be careful not to have them "outshine" the hosts, so to speak.

I get what you're saying! I was thinking of just getting them each a sash to wear at the shower. I ended up getting engraved gifts for the moms--necklace for my mom and sketch pad for my artsy MIL. Both say #1 Grandma.
