We had our anatomy scan today and the tech and doctor both said the baby looked perfect & beautiful. HUGE sigh of relief from this PGAL family! #teamgreen
Sorry to hear about this @jlemons-2. I'll be thinking of you. We too had our scan with some abnormal findings. Baby's kidneys had more fluid than normal. This can be a soft marker for downs too so I did blood work. It can also become worse and require additional monitoring/testing and could mean specialists need involved even if genetically everything checks out. I have to have a repeat u/s at 32 weeks!
how long do you ladies have to wait for your bloodwork back? i hope you can get through the time as calmly as possible
finally had our a/s yesterday on the third attempt. heaving a huge sigh of relief as everything looks great. i was nervous this time, but not the first time around, which seems backwards but i think ignorance was bliss. we are having another boy and it feels weird to finally know!

@anewadventure this is my third pregnancy and I get more nervous for each test every time. I think when I was pregnant with DS1 I was living in blissful ignorance. We ended up having some concerning test results during our 2nd tri screening (everything turned out just fine, got a little extra monitoring but he's healthy), and each susbsequent pregnancy I feel like I'm testing my odds or something of something bad happening. Or maybe I just know more now. Either way, im much more nervous about things this time around.
They said blood work will be about 5-10 days. But for us even if the blood work comes back normal I still won't have any more answers until my scan at 32 weeks!
Because they have to wait until the kidneys become a certain size to re-measure. If there if still excessive fluid in them or if it is worse at 32 weeks that is an abnormal finding. Some fetuses have extra fluid in the kidneys through about 24 weeks. But my ob said measurements are best at or around 32 weeks!
@jlemons-2 Stay encouraged mama! With DS, he had 2 markers for Down Syndrome. A cyst on the heart and there was something abnormal about the fluid around it. Both corrected themselves by 28 weeks. Thinking of you as I know the stress it causes and praying your labs come back soon and perfect.
Had ours on weds and damn child would not cooperate! She was curled into a ball with her head buried in your pelvis so we could not get any pictures of her head! Have to go back next weds for a repeat! Everything else looked perfect and measuring ahead of schedule!
Mine was supposed to be yesterday.... BUT THE DANG SONOGRAPHER WAS NOT THERE!! No one told us that we were scheduled during her vacation. But Monday the 24th we will see!!!
I had my anatomy scan yesterday, but they couldn't get all of the measurements they wanted so I'll have to go back in 2-3 weeks. They think we're having a boy and a girl so yay! So far, everything looks good, but one baby is smaller than the other so they want to keep an eye on that.
2.5 weeks after our scan, we just got referred for a follow up due to a borderline abnormality with ventricle size in baby's brain. Our OB has "no specific concern" and we were told to feel "reassured" by the referral to a (high risk) specialist. It has caught me by surprise, as I totally thought we were in the clear if they hadn't said anything by now...
Good thing we've got great insurance, because kiddo's now got a specialist scan for a neurology reason AND a fetal echo coming up. I'm trying to focus on the "more opportunities to see LO" and not the anxiety.

Thoughts for you and your lo! I hope your referral goes perfectly!
I had my anatomy scan on Friday at 19w6d and this PGAL mama is so freaking relieved that it went well. I had a yogurt and a glass of water 45 minutes before the appointment. The scan took about 25 minutes. The tech had no problems with getting all of the measurements- he was a perfect little gentleman (and we confirmed that he is indeed a little man )! He measured 20w2d and 12 oz. When the tech went to take pictures of his profile, he was sucking his thumb. So adorable!!
Repeat scan for me tomorrow to *hopefully* get pictures of this little potato from the neck up. Keep your fingers crossed that she can manage to bring her head up out of my pelvis for long enough to see it!
@anewadventure I am currently at the mercy of the specialist's scheduler. I asked the triage nurse who called me if there was an urgency in scheduling and she said I could just take whatever opening they had, no need to try and get it done before my next OB appt (next week).
