I'm almost convinced this baby is a boy because I can't find boy names that I like. Our daughter's name starts with an H so I really don't want a boy name to start with an H. I feel like I'd be 'starting' something and then they'd all have to be H names if we had anymore. Of course Harrison and Henry would be on my short list.
Our last name starts with an S so we don't want a B name either. I wouldn't want B.S. to be the initials.
Haha, I married into my horrible initials . No matter how you cut it, they just suck. I'm either BS or BJS.
DD is Avery Elizabeth (Elizabeth is my first name).
If it's a girl, I'm still holding out for my top name choice from last time, Sienna. Hubs nixed that but I'll make it have a comeback because I'm the one carrying these babies for 9-10 months and pushing them out of my vagina. I do also like Taylor and Isla.
For a boy we always said Logan, but It's becoming a really popular name and lots of our acquaintances have used it. I also like Kai, Ryan, Kellan, and Cruz.
If it's a girl - Alice Grace, after my great grandmother who was the most kind, loving, selfless soul you'd ever meet in your life. We'd call her Ali for short.
If it's a boy, I like Leo James and my mom wants him to be "Nana's little LJ" which I'm fine with. But I'm iffy about the boys name. I want it to be something unique but still tied to the family. James is my father so I love that for a middle name.
I've liked Bentley also for a boy but Teen Mom ruined that kinda for me.
@kburg15 Yes. There will be no * * the Third in this family. Sorry dude. FIL is a total @$$ and I'm not interested in naming my kid after him. Also I get annoyed when all of the ILs think they have a say in my name choices.
If it's is a boy his middle name will be Charles after my grandpa. That as far as we have gotten with boy names though I love the name Aidan. Girl - My top pick is Samantha Lily but also considering Riley or Camille.
Me: 36 DH: 37 Married: 5.27.16 Baby Boy Due: 3.18.18
the boys name is harder - my DH is dead set on Ronald (my father's name) as a middle name but I hate it. We both like the name Wyatt - but to me it just does NOT work with Ronald.
If a girl.. really wanting middle name to be Iris, (after my grandmother) but can't find a first name we like to go with it. For a boy, I've always wanted Rhys but DH says it to that. Ughh.. I feel like picking a name is the hardest part of having a baby! DDs name is Jaelyn Grace
DS is Quinntin Noble. I wasn't big on the spelling, but it's the ONLY way I could get DH to agree to Quinntin. He loved the name Quinn and I wanted Quintin so we compromised. Our last name starts with a T so his initials are QT
For this baby we are struggling bad with names. For a girl I love Evelyn, Corrine, Gwen and Elle. DH doesn't like any of those. We did agree that the middle name will be Ada (it means Noble, which is DS and DH's middle names). For a boy we have nothing. Absolutely nothing.
No first names but if boy Cole for middle name and for a girl, middle name Leigh. Won't discuss until we have ultrasound tomorrow and nugget is still there!
If it's a girl it will be Eleanor, middle name TBD (I love Anne, Plum, and Belle). We don't have a boys name we love yet...I like Jonah, Asher, and Nathan (Nate for short).
We have SO MANY off limits first initials. I'm a V so no Vs. H is an M so no Ms. Middle and last names (MH and my maiden name which is now my middle name and we agree any and all kid's middle name too) BOTH start with an S, so that means no S names, no B names and definitely no A names because then their initials would spell "ASS". Good thing we thought THAT one through...
We have an Olivia Grace. If this is another girl I'm partial to Sophia or Margot. For a boy DH really wants Ivan after him (he is Ivan Jr. after his father) but I am opposed lol. We both like Dominic.
@becausescience Really? Why was your sister scandalized? My parents were thrilled I did it because no sons. My middle name never really "fit" me or my name anyway.
We already have 1 name for each sex plus one alternate--I'm just not ready to share names yet. But they all begin with I, P, and N, which we decided are among our "safe" letters.
DD is Gianna. We were going to name her Bethany Lara. I still like both of those names, but I also like Sloan, and Cora. I like different names, but not TOO different. That's just not me. DHs name is B.... Wesley, and his dad is also B... Wesley, just a different B name. So he wants a boy to be the same. We are thinking Blake Wesley but I'm not totally sold on it. Plus every time I bring it up, someone has to mention that damn key and peele skit "Bah-lah-Kay" we are team green this time around so it will be while before we know names for sure.
@vflux33 She became weirdly conservative/traditional and was like "but you're [first name] [middle name]". My original middle name was pretty much the most popular middle name of my generation and had no meaning. I had no problem dropping it as I was much more attached to my maiden name. She is weird about things.
Ha, that reminds me also about the time she was scandalized when I said something about DD not having chosen her gender yet. The look on her face was priceless.

@becausescience WOW... I have lots of thoughts about that second part... but I don't want to say mean things about your sister! I guess if you have one of those first names that goes with and is usually said with your middle name that would make it kinda jarring. But if they're not said together a lot and don't "go together" that seems like a very strange thing to feel unsettled about.
For me, it solved the struggle of not being sure about whether to keep my maiden name or change names with marriage. My maiden name is more interesting and unique than MH's, and when I was a kid I hated my middle name anyway. I also liked the idea of having a double S. So it seemed like the right thing to do. There's another funny reason why I did it that I can't explain without sharing my maiden name so you'll just have to take my word for that part.
I'm still on Alice Grace for a girl but I'm having second thoughts on my boy's name. I had Leo James but my husband and I discussed it and we like Jordy for a boy. So maybe Jordy Daniel?
No idea. We have 2 girls so we've only talked girl names and we've used our top two favorite already. We tried to talk about it the other night and not much. Nothing is coming to us at the moment. I'll have the Mat21 test around 11w so once we know the sex we'll get more serious about names.

Exactly this. My married name is super boring and common.
Yeah, my sister - I love her and she is my best friend but she can be a conservative a**hole from time to time. I just keep on educating. *sigh*

@babycable My husband desperately wanted our 2nd to be named Rhys. I talked him into using it for the middle name, because I knew he'd get tired to spelling and correcting pronunciation. I've never regretted it
@carig63 one of my worries with this name is if my baby can't pronounce his Rs and he gets made fun of cause he says weese. I don't know why I always think of these things
@vflux33@becausescience - I changed my middle to my maiden as well - my maiden name just meant more than my middle name (and if I'm being honest, it looked better as a monogram).
Baby naming is my favorite part! So many beautiful names in this thread already. I refuse to get into it with my DH until after we find out what we are having. For a boy he will likely be Andrew or Barrett. For a girl (which I'm not so secretly hoping for) my list is so long, Charlotte is at the top so far, but I am all over the map.
@becausescience@vflux33@missydallas I have an extra long name, technically, because I ADDED my maiden name as a second middle name so I could keep it. You'd only know that though if you saw my drivers license or other personal forms, I don't say all 4 names when a random Joe asks. My son has 2 middle names because we didn't know if we would ever have another boy and both of our grandparents were very important to us. We agreed before he was born that it would be ok if he only used 1. So far he still uses both!

I'm just hoarding my names over here...I kept all of mine and added DH's to the end. No hyphens, just four names
DS 1 is Corben james DS2 is Weston Carder DD is Sutton Jade
my husband I have taken turns naming our kids this would be his turn and I'm not gonna lie I'm totally scared of what he will pick I am trying to come up with negotiation ideas/bribes especially if it's a girl .
I'm kind of obsessed with a name right now that I don't think anyone is going to like, but that's kind of beside the point, right? It's unique and a bit "last name-y" but I like it nonetheless. I really like Carrigan for a girl. I like Carrie if she shortened it, but I also just like it long. I liked it before DD was born, but couldn't get DH on board. Now I keep thinking about it and like it more. Maybe it's a pregnancy thing, and maybe I really like it...time will tell!
I have no idea what we're going to do if we have a boy. DS is Lucas James and it took soooo long for us to decide on that last time!! If DS was a girl we were going to name her Emily Jane, but now I don't know how I feel about it. I have tried convincing DH about Emily Lane but he's not a fan. He's super opinionated and only likes traditional names, nothing even slightly unique. Lucas was on the creative end of his spectrum LOL!
@LiveNLove44 I have a bunch of names that I don't think most people will like. For example, I really like the names Callan and Jedidiah. DH nixed Jedidiah last pregnancy. For a girl, I like Willow and Juniper. I haven't told H about these.

I love Willow! my last name has two W's and it's just too much.

if this baby is a boy, we both like Colin. Girl first names are still a mess, but middle name Pearl, after my grandmother.
@carig63 H and I were going to go with Colin if we had a boy! Love that name.
So since I know I'm having a girl here are our first name ideas: Ada, Clara, Elise.
I also liked Hanna and Sienna but H wasn't on board. For a middle name we are going to use a Chinese name so I'm going to ask MIL for help with that.
DDs name is Jaelyn Grace
