This ended up being DD's outfit because she was too tiny for the original outfit I had in mind. I don't have DS's pic on my phone or FB account, but it was a super cute Gap footed pajama outfit. No clue on this baby yet because I haven't gotten her any new clothing yet (we have tons of hand me downs from DD). Maybe a "little sister" outfit that I've been eyeing online.
I finished washing all of LO's clothes & packing his hospital bag. I think we'll probably use this outfit (maybe a different color pants from the set). It's the first thing I bought for this baby.
@TheMrs I vote for long-sleeved. Babies are just learning to regulate their body temperature outside of the womb. The rule of thumb is what mom is wearing +1 layer. Also, baby will likely be in the A/C most of the time.
My Mom insisted, a while back, that she wanted to pick out the going home outfit. I didnt think much of it, but I guess DH really wanted to get this one outfit we saw at Disney on our pre-baby moon. He told me and I felt horrible, so I messaged my mom about it. Turns out we should have bought the outfit when we were there, cus it was no longer on the disney site. So I desperately searched the internet for the outfit. I found it on one sketchy site, and then Ebay came through for me. I am pretty sure she bought it too! DH has no idea! I think she is planning on giving it to him at the shower, and I can not wait. DHs favorite pooh character is Tigger and this is the outfit:

I would think a blanket would count as the second layer. In 80-90+ heat I'm not wearing a blanket lol so I think I would count that as babies second layer. You can even tuck it all around the baby in the seat as if they were swaddled
Here's what I have so far. Right now I'm thinking short sleeves since it'll most likely be the end of August with a light blanket. I'll add some socks/booties and a little hat too.

This is the outfit Baby O will be going home in. Instead of Kelly on the onesie it says Olivia. There's also a hat that goes with it...it'll be hot in August here in FL but just in case we need it, I got the beanie/hat.
@Kathryn0903 and @littlebug2010 I got DH a shirt that says "You're killin' me smalls" with a onesie that says "smalls" for the baby since baseball was basically his life (he still plays in a somewhat serious men's league 8 months of the year at 30 years old). I didn't order the newborn size so it won't be the coming home outfit but I love the coordinating shirts for the dads

Indecisively starting to rethink our coming home outfit. It's been soo hot here I'm wondering if we should do this with a light blanket instead of a footed sleeper? I have no idea why this is stressing me so much
@secicc12 that romper is super cute. I'm in the same boat as you--I plan on bringing a short sleeve outfit and a long sleeve because I'm not sure about what baby will be comfortable in either.
@secicc12 DD was born in June and it was hot when we brought her home (much like this June has been here). Her coming home outfit was a tank onesie, cardigan, and shorts with a light (A&A muslin) blanket over her legs. I, personally, would rather have their legs "exposed" and covered with a blanket than their arms. Since legs are typically easier to keep covered via a blanket.

This is our plan right now...since DH and I met teaching flying trapeze at a circus camp, we thought it was fitting for LO to come home with a little circus style. I will have a blanket with us, and I will probably add a bow or headband to girl it up a bit.
