I re-formated the first draft of my novel to print for editing because I'm thinking if I have a hard copy it might make it easier to sift through. Almost 500 pages.

I just attended a baby shower for a colleague. A few thoughts: Holy crap her feet are swollen. Why is she not sitting more? I really loathe baby shower games I'm surprised that so few people showed up. I wonder if it's because there was no RSVP.
My mom is planning my shower and knew I didn't want to play games. She's excited she doesn't have to come up with any of that. I recently went to a shower where we played soooo many games that I hardly had time to socialize with people I hadn't seen in awhile
Add me to the baby shower game hating club. We've come up with a game tradition in my family. We set a time and whenever it goes off someone gets a prize. However, it's usually rigged to go to people we like
Another WTF for me is I'm looking at our finances and I don't know how we are going to make it with me off for three months and no pay. I'm trying to save money, but this is so stressful.
@ariz17 I'm totally stressed about finances during maternity leave, too. I've been crunching numbers and obsessing about it. I fluctuate between freaking out with major anxiety and thinking, "whatever, we'll be fine." Lol. But I'm set on taking a full 12 weeks no matter what.

i was figuring out maternity leave yesterday and don't forget we have 3 holidays in there: Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years. not sure what your works are like but that should add up to about a week "free" depending on the policies.
Well I guess I'm in the minority but I think shower games are fun! Bring on the games, whether bridal shower or baby shower

But this whole summer and early fall really suck because I'm working an extra 5-10 hours per week. It doesn't sound like a lot but it definitely increases my stress level and makes it harder to get stuff done in other areas of my life.
Baby shower games are the worst thing ever invented. I'm glad to see some others on my side. My first baby shower was just a BBQ with cake and presents. No games. Perfect.
just to annoyingly throw my two cents in and be Debbie downer, the last company I worked in HR for would not give you holiday pay if you were on leave in an unpaid status (meaning, if you had enough vacation time to reach thanksgiving, you would get thanksgiving pay. If you ran out before then, then tough cookies). So yeah, check policies and handbooks.
Most companies I've worked for have had the same policies as @purplestarz where if you are on disability over a holiday the holiday is treated like a normal work day and there is no make-up day. If your company agrees to it and you have a childcare plan for the in-between weeks, you could break up your maternity leave to come back right before Thanksgiving, and then take the rest of your 12 weeks in the new year. And if you are on unpaid leave, there may be other ways to still get paid holidays.
However, my current company requires us to take 3 weeks unpaid over the holidays (1 week at Thanksgiving, 2 at Christmas/New Years) so it should work out well for me to be on maternity leave then.
What @purplestarz and @roo_baby said is consistent with a lot of employers' practices.
While FMLA is a separate issue, 1-2 day holidays that you miss while out on leave can be counted towards your 12 week FMLA allotment, even if they would normally be paid holidays that everyone else has off. That rule only changes if the company is closed for a week or more (for example, over Christmas break), in which case that week should not be counted as FMLA time. Of course, states could have different rules on this, which may be more favorable.

No fasting but they said not to eat an hour before. Once I drank it I could only have water. Which is fine since it's been more than an hour and I feel all sorts of first trimester level sick. I had orange flavor and it tasted fine but it was a lot to drink all at once.
+1 to financial stress thinking about baby coming! I'm a SAHM but when we had DD I was working, had signed up for Aflac before I got pregnant so had extra money coming in to cover lost wages/hospital costs, as well as 5 weeks of PTO saved up. So we were good. This time around, with one income, I'm a combo of freaking out and thinking "we'll be fine". DH has a summer job lined up (he's a teacher) for a few weeks which will help. And I plan to get a part time/weekend job after the new year to get out of the house and help bring in some income. I seriously hate money!
I "get" the pleasure of drinking the glucose drink in 4 weeks. Woooooo!!
DD is home from the inlaws! I missed my little. Only 8 more days of school for DH and we will all be together for most of the summer! I can't wait!!

I can't stand skin care advertising, they are so fake. Just watched an anti-aging commercial with Nicole Kidman, and the film is so overly exposed and the highlights blown out that yeah, you can't see a single pore or wrinkle. What is wrong with looking human in your 40's? How is it an advertisement when you can't see her skin? Here is an ad with Emma Watson, who is naturally gorgeous, but they airbrushed the crap out of her. It just looks ridiculous.

@TallMomma29 lol! Yeah on super zitty days (like today) that would be nice! I can see an unrealistic ad like this and immediately know it's bs, but when I was a teenager it was completely different. I had such bad acne and thought that my skin could look that way if I bought their skincare, and I'm sure I wasted thousands of dollars trying to find something to cure my hormonal acne. It just sets young women up with an unrealistic expectation to what they should look like. I think France banned airbrushing a few years ago because of an ad with Julia Roberts.

So here's another random (I'm procrastinating life today): I think my pregnancy hormones finally hit me. I just hardcore snapped at DH for breathing behind me and needed him to leave the room because he was lurking while I was reading. now that I think about it, I'm pretty sure he was just walking by, but it was just too much. I'm also annoyed that he was in charge of taking photos of things to add to our registry for Amazon at BBB over the weekend. I'm looking at the photos, and they are all close ups of the sku/barcode and half are too blurry to read. I don't remember half of what we wanted. I've been making an effort to eat a little better, and more importantly, not spend money on lunch everyday when I have a perfectly fine lunch packed from home. But I'm starving and all I can think of is all the yummy lunch places around me. I have no self control.
