@kvacmak I've been feeling tiny movements for almost a week! (13+4) Confirmed at my NT scan Thursday, since she found baby exactly where I felt movement. I felt it relatively early with DS (16-17 weeks) so I was expecting it soon!
Anyone have experience with GBS? I tested positive for it and am just curious what that really means going forward. The nurse I spoke with mentioned that the norm in their office is to NOT retest at 36 weeks and just treat via IV (I think that's what she said) but I am curious if that's THE norm or not. I don't know why they wouldn't retest if I am treated now?
I test positive for GBS with both of my previous pregnancies. They did gave my iv antibiotics during labor. I want to say that they like you to have the iv for something like 4-6 hours before you deliver so that it passes to the baby. Otherwise baby gets a shot after birth. I just reminded the nurse as soon as I was admitted.
Edited to add that I wasn't tested with my first because I went into labor at 36 weeks so they did it as a precaution. With my second I tested positive with my pap and they did not retest me later.
@flowerpower5838 I'm surprised they're not wanting to retest closer to delivery. You can positive and negative throughout the pregnancy, but I guess maybe they don't want to mess around?
@flowerpower5838 ugh me. I was starting to feel better last week and this weekend and today I felt like I was right back at like week 6-7. Nausea is keeping me awake right now.
Anyone else having trouble laying down? I feel like I can't catch my breath?
@Marley629 We're in the same boat. Last night, I couldn't fall asleep until I remembered I had some Mylanta. I'm so over the nausea and vomiting and I wish it would go away. The Diclegis doesn't seem to be working anymore so I'm leaning towards using Zofran. I'm trying to wait until 2nd trimester, but I know people who have taken it with every pregnancy and their kids are fine.
@clovelyone I tried zofran but it didn't work for me Hopefully it works better for you!! they have me on Reglan now which was working better for awhile but still very sick every other day, every two days it seems. FX there's an end in sight with the nausea soon for both of us! I desperately googled from my bathroom floor a bit ago "how long goes HG last"'and dr Google claims, 97% resolve by 20 weeks..I don't wanna wait that long lol but I'm praying I'm not in the unresolved 3%
@Marley629 I took Zofran for about 4 days until my SIL (a L&D nurse) said that their docs won't prescribe it in the first trimester because it can cause birth defects. There are later studies that say otherwise, but I freaked out and switched to Diclegis. The Zofran worked for me, but made me constipated. Now, I'm nauseous a constipated LOL. I'm FX that we're both in that 97th percentile.
I'm right there with you other mamas & the HG. I had this with my first and now I am dealing with it again. It seems like it came pretty fast this time and now I am fearing it will not end until this one is born. With my first I was literally puking during labor. I had so many flashbacks and triggers (sounds, smells) that made me nauseous even after she was born. She is 4 now, and it's taken this long for me to finally be okay with possibly going through it again. And now here we are. I hope it doesn't last the entire pregnancy but I am starting to think it will. I am trying to stay positive but when I keep losing weight I don't know what to think. My dr is monitoring everything and I have Diclegis this time (which I have been too scared to try, pathetically). I tried zofran with DD but the side effects from that still made me sick. So I am a hot mess all day every day. Left work early yesterday just to try and get some rest, managed to keep some cheez-its down. I haven't even really been posting on here much because I have zero energy. I get home from work and just lay on the couch and puke in a bowl while DD plays or watches the ipad (mom guilt). It's been all around lovely. I am sorry to be a negative nancy. Just wanted to share what I am currently dealing with. It sucks!
HG ladies, you have ALL my sympathy. it must be a struggle just to be alive. don't let the mom guilt consume you - it's enough to get through the day, let alone take care of a child. do what you have to do.
all my fingers and toes crossed that it subsides - soon. there is no torture on earthy like unending nausea and vomiting.

Have any of my fellow HG'ers been prescribed compazine? I've taken a turn in the downhill direction again this week so they put me on that - I made the mistake of reading the reviews after i took my first dose and a lot more negative than positive
ETA : I freaked out after reading about Zofran possibly causing birth defects in the first trimester about 4 days after I started taking it. Come to find out most of my friends have taken it throughout their pregnancies and their babies are fine. There are conflicting studies. I did switch to Diclegis because it's been thoroughly tested. It doesn't work as good as Zofran did, but I'm counting down the days to the second trimester.

I took it with DD. He tried to give it again this time but I asked for something else. I didn't know about the birth defects until I further along and I was terrified the whole time after that.

I haven't been prescribed it. I hope today is a better day for you though!
Another trip to the ER for me this week. Woke up Wednesday morning covered in really dark blood. My doctor was out of the office so we were sent to the hospital again. This time I just felt like it was going to be ok and that it was related to the SCH I was diagnosed with a few weeks ago and I tried to be really positive and calm and I was right. Apparently there was some blood that hadn't made its way out then and it found its way out finally. Doppler caught the heartbeat right away and then we had a quick ultrasound and saw this little babe bouncing around. I'm pretty sure this LO is set on giving me gray hair before it is even born.
A wall in our bedroom was painted yesterday so I spent the night on the couch. Today I woke up with some bad pain in my right inner hip (I slept on my left side). I think it's a combo of RLP and being unable to flip over to my other side comfortably..? Has anyone else experienced something like this?
@blueskies17 I used to always get sore hips while sleeping when I was pregnant with DS, none so far yet though. But I think it's related to your pelvis being more mobile as well as round ligament stretching.
AFM I made super garlicky asparagus for dinner last night, and while it was fine at the time, the used pans and dishes with the old garlic butter smell are making me SO gaggy every time I walk past the sink I do not want to clean them!
@kvacmak sorry your dishes are making you feel gaggy! Washing them sounds like a task for DH.
Super whiney moment and not technically a pregnancy symptom. Everyone in my office seems to think they're too important to not come to work when they're sick (I haven't announced at work so I can't pull the stay away from me I'm pregnant card yet). So naturally I have caught a viral throat infection that has been going around the office. I went to the doctor on Wednesday and my doctor wouldn't give me medication because there is some risk which I respect, but my throat hurts so bad! People need to stay home from work when they're sick!!

@MrsWifey89, there's nothing they could really give you for a viral infection anyway, except something to manage the symptoms. You should be able to use chloroseptic throat spray to ease the pain.
Any other SCH mommies out there? I'd swear there were some others. How long did it take for yours to heal itself? How much bleeding/how often before it was all gone? My little pgal mind is not coping so well today I'm hoping for some advice or at least someone who has been there.
So this pregnancy started with a food aversion to chicken and has now advanced to all meat. I'm trying my best to eat other food higher in protein but I feel like I'm not getting enough. Anyone have experience with protein supplements or any suggestions?

For a while I was living off of string cheese. If your stomach/nausea can handle the dairy, I think cheese, milk, and Greek yogurt can be a lifesaver. I was told that even drink products like Boost, Ensure, or Carnation Instant Breakfast are okay especially if you're having a hard time keeping things down.
Otherwise, things like beans and nuts or nut butters can help you get some protein.
@kersey0208 protein shakes should be fine too, just look for pure whey or casein if you're okay with dairy. If you're uneasy about protein powder then pasteurized egg whites in a smoothie are good too, and you don't have to worry about eating them raw because they are pasteurized.
@brittabatwhite I had an SCH which started at 6+3 with a large bleed and clot but the 'episode' only lasted for an hour or less. Went to the Dr. who said everything looked fine and he could even see the bleed on the ultrasound. He said it could either be reabsorbed or pass. I wore pads for 2 weeks straight as I was paranoid of having another 'episode' (It happened in the grocery store while wearing a dress... ick). At 10+1 I went in for a followup ultrasound and the Dr. didn't see the SCH anymore so it must have absorbed. Hope this helps a bit...
I had such a good day Friday and then Saturday and Sunday were awful. I was sick most of the day both days. I have been better today. Maybe I'm not over MS but maybe it'll just happen every two days from now on. Makes me really appreciate the good days.

Luckily I can still eat eggs and I try to eat Greek yogurt, cottage cheese, almonds etc. It's surprising how high in protein some foods are.
Have been tracking your protein intake? I found that really helped me not to worry/ make sure I was getting the right amount.
