@AMCsquared I bought a nettie pot too, but I haven't used it yet. I've been super phlegmy and have to spit a lot so I was hoping it would help with that. Has it been helpful for you?
i find that it only is worth doing it the shower, btw. i'm not sure if its totally helping but it does make me feel less congested. my dr said to use it twice daily to actually see results. so maybe i shouldve been listening to that lol. i have a feeling the twice a day would help a lot. dont sniff or inhale! just squeeze/pour. i'm finding its difficult though when one side is clogged up lol

for all you ladies getting headaches, solidarity. i second the suggestion for magnesium (pill form is least effective, "natural calm" is a common powdered drink option). this time around i've been trying acupuncture for my nausea - no real effect on nausea so far but has been DYNAMITE for my headaches. just make sure to tell your acupuncturist exactly what is bothering you on a given day. you can find a "community supported acupuncture" practice for a really cheap way to introduce yourself to it.

Second day in a row of unbuttoning my pants at my desk... They're the only two pairs I have that fit well in the waist normally. I'm pear-shaped and tend to find pants that seem to fit in the dressing room, but stretch and later on only fit in the butt and thighs with room in the waist. At least all of those annoying gap-waist pants will serve a purpose for a while...
I have had the absolute worst stomach flu the past week. I don't know what is flu symptoms and what is pregnancy symptoms anymore. I just want to feel better and eat food. Makes me a little worried about the baby.
@CandyApple2012 I had an emergency appendectomy at 10 weeks with DS1 and had to go under anesthesia. I was soooooooo scared with all the risks they were telling me. Everything turned out ok. Sorry this will be something that will have to continue to happen and is causing you so much worry . I'll keep you and baby in my thoughts.
Just checking back in to report that our 12 week ultrasound went well and that baby is just fine. What a relief after last week's procedure. Unfortunately, due to a blood clot that I had 7 years ago while I was in the hospital (for kidney problems, ugh!) I will be taking lovenox for the duration of the pregnancy. Y'all, I am seriously struggling with having to stick myself twice a day... it hurts! Anyone else in the same boat?
I've been seriously congested for the last few days as well and broke out my neti pot last night -- relief was almost instant! Highly recommended, just be careful about cleaning it properly before/after use (I've read some nasty things about bacteria).

@CandyApple2012 My sister has Factor IV and MTHFR and had to do Lovenox with both her pregnancies (Heparin towards the end of pregnancy). I felt so bad bec she was always so bruised. She said ice packs and changing up tje spot help a tad but not much. So happy baby is doing well!
@CandyApple2012 A friend (who was also a coworker) had to use Lovenox for both of her pregnancies because of a history of PE caused by birth control. I second the ice packs, and definitely rotate sites as much as possible! Use every inch of appropriate locations. She actually refused to inject herself, so I had to do them for her in the bathroom at work all the time. I always felt so bad, but it's an extremely valuable treatment!
@CandyApple2012 I'm happy to hear that the baby is doing well. I had IVF overseas and after the embryo transfer I had to take Clexane (similar to Lovenox, just a different brand) daily. After returning to the US, I had to switch to Lovenox. The Clexane had smaller needles and although it bruised sometimes, the shot itself was not bad at all to me. The Lovenox has a thicker and seemingly more dull needle and I hate it. I'll be 12 weeks tomorrow and at my doctor appointment today, we should be able to hear the heartbeats and then I can stop taking it.
I really wished I would have bought the Clexane for as long as I would need it, but my luggage would have overflowed and it would have been over the weight allowance. Sometimes, it seems like the way you hold the needle can make or break whether or not the shot hurts or maybe some of the needles are more dull than others. If it were a thinner needle (like Clexane had and similar to what diabetics use) it wouldn't be so bad. I've learned that if I take a deep breath and exhale as I stick the needle in, it helps reduce the pain. I'm sorry that you have to take it so long. The exhaling really helps and the longer I used it, the less I bruised. Good luck! Sorry I don't have better news.
I'm 9 weeks 5 days (due dec 31). Constant fatigue and blahness, especially late afternoon.
also anyone experiencing acne? When I was pregnant with DD, I had glowing, dewy skin. This time around I'm breaking out like crazy with at least 3 or 4 big zits and dry flakey skin. Ugh! I hate it!
@CandyApple2012, frustrating that you're having to deal with so many other issues while pregnant, I'm sorry But it sounds like you're doing what needs to be done, and yay for a great US!
I have no tips for lovenox, although I've been told multiple times that the way I do it doesn't hurt. I don't know what I'm doing differently, but I can tell you I don't take my time. Quick stick and done. Not sure if that's helpful.
AFM: ultrasound today went great! Baby is measuring ahead a few days, and hr 174!
@CandyApple2012 i'm on lovenox for the duration myself. i had a massive DVT last pregnancy and am also factor v leiden.
were you prescribed by a hematologist? mfm? your OB? you should talk to whomever is coordinating this part of your care. you should ask to go on one dose per day. protocol is to have a 50% higher single dose or two lower dosages. over the course of 9 months (plus 6 weeks pp) this adds up to HUNDREDS fewer injections. this is a huge amount, both in terms of actual cost and physical discomfort. you would think the cost would increase as the dosage increases but this is actually not the case at all. it is mainly a per-syringe cost.
i understand that two doses provides a steadier amount in your system but for preventative care (not in direct treatment of a clot) this is not as critical. so, advocate for yourself! GL!

The last few weeks I have been walking up around 5 am, I assumed it's my body getting me ready for lack of sleep. This morning I was having a very vivid dream that I was feeding the baby, I check the clock and it's 4:58. It's so crazy the tricks the mind can play on you!

Hormones! I am a psycho crazy person who screams and cries ...at everything. Including defenseless inanimate objects...the psycho vivid dreams...I giant wolf kept trying to eat me the other night....all night long. and the horrible constipation. Ahhhh this is fun!
@acgonzalez22, @Jellybelly119, @clovelyone, @jlemons-2, @NME44, @anewadventure - Thank you for the advice/support/tips. I was prescribed by my mfm and will absolutely be asking about changing to one dose per day. It's gotten a little easier but the bruises are pretty ugly and it's still painful -- not to mention, needing to be precise about every 12 hours is a pain in the ass.

ive been taking diclegis for the past 2 weeks and it works so well. i had a really long shift at work yesterday so i didnt take any and now im wondering if i can stay off of it for the rest of the pregnancy. then today i started feeling like nauseous... its not horrible so i can see if I can make it now that im at 10 weeks. good luck to all of you that are still battling the nausea/vomiting and hooray for all those that are already past it
@vvitchhazel I totally understand and I've been randomly throwing up while taking Diclegis. It's weird because I won't necessarily feel nauseous, but I'll just throw up pretty violently after eating sometimes. It feels like more of a sinus drainage issue because I usually have to hack a loogie after I eat. It sometimes feels stuck right at the area to make me gag and then I throw up.
@jackiesmom324@clovelyone I was just taking unisom at night, which was helping me sleep through the night and I wasn't feeling nauseous in the morning. I stopped, though, because it was making me so groggy I couldn't function until afternoon. Not cutting it with a toddler! Now that I've stopped, I'm not nauseous at all, I just suddenly have to throw up out of nowhere. Today it was about an hour after I ate. And it was INTENSE! Many surges with extreme velocity. I have an OB appt after my NT scan tomorrow, so I'll bring it up.
Any STMs feeling any movement yet? I heard it can happen super early the second + time and I know some of the Nov mama's were feeling flutters at 13 weeks! I felt DS pretty early for a FTM at 17 weeks, and I have a posterior placenta again so I'm hoping for super early this time! (She says at 12+4 with a pillow on her belly hoping the pressure helps her feel some flutters!)
@kvacmak I'm pretty sure I have felt a couple of flutters recently. Im 13 1/2 weeks right now. Like I said it's only been a couple of times. I confirmed it when it felt the same as when the baby moved on the U/S.

I felt DS at 14 weeks, DD at 12, and this one around now as well (12 weeks). I feel like I've felt little somersaults for a while actually, but who can be sure.
ETA: my kids also walked super early (8 and 9 mos.) So I think I just have overactive children
@vvitchhazel That's a good idea to bring it up to your doctor. Oddly enough, if I do feel nauseous beforehand, I usually feel better after I throw up.
@kvacmak I thought I felt something today (I was having some pain and holding my stomach), but I'm assuming it was probably gas. I'm only 12+1 with di/di twins so I'm guessing it's probably too early.
@kvacmak Ttm here and I felt something at 10+5 but the only reason I knew for sure was because I was having an ultrasound at the time. I haven't felt anything since
@kvacmak I have felt distinct baby flutters in the past couple of days and I'm 12+3. LO is super active in there at least based off how s/he was during NT scan. I didn't feel DS Until 16-17 weeks.
@kvacmak I'm pretty sure I've felt gas bubbles But I am not yet 12 weeks. I've also been wondering when, though! I felt DD for the first time at 17 weeks, so I am hoping for sooner this time
Married May 2014 DD born August 2016 Baby #2 due December 2017
Is anyone just starting to feel more crappy? I am 12 weeks on Wednesday and in the past 5 days or so I am just starting to feel super nauseous instead of just minimal appetite until like 9 pm.
@kvacmak I'm 14.4 weeks and I feel her flutters but nothing consistent. With DS I didn't feel them until 16 to 17 weeks, this is way earlier and just heavenly.
Anyone have experience with GBS? I tested positive for it and am just curious what that really means going forward. The nurse I spoke with mentioned that the norm in their office is to NOT retest at 36 weeks and just treat via IV (I think that's what she said) but I am curious if that's THE norm or not. I don't know why they wouldn't retest if I am treated now?

are they treating you now? curious why you were even tested so early? it's my understanding that you usually just get IV antibiotics during labor and that it isn't an uncommon thing to have...

anewadventure I would assume it's just part of the normal screening they do? It was in my urine sample from my last appointment. I have no idea as I only remember hearing about it when they swabbed for it towards the end with DS. I have a UTI also that it's likely causing. I think I am getting prescribed augmentin.
@flowerpower5838 that makes sense. if you're getting abx now, i don't see why they would refuse to swab you at the standard time late third tri. i'm sure you can advocate for yourself at that time if they aren't planning to. no need to get IV abx at your delivery if you don't really require it!
Met: September 2005Married: October 2008 DS: 09/2014
@flowerpower5838 The last time I looked into it (a million years ago when I was in school) I believe standard practice was to treat with IV abx at delivery if you tested positive at any point during your pregnancy, so that may be why they don't bother retesting. I know for a lot of people avoiding medications unless absolutely necessary is extremely important, but having seen an infant horribly ill with meningitis caused by GBS, I can see why they'd err on the side of caution.
