@dmo1371 My naturopath has me drinking red raspberry leaf tea for my lining. 2-3 cups a day from CD1 - O. I ran out and forgot to buy some more this cycle and my lining was like 4mm thinner than all my other cycles. It is amazeballs.

  • Thanks for the welcome everyone!

I had my baseline yesterday and everything looks good, so I'll start Letrozole today, CD 3 - CD 7, then I am going back in next Saturday (CD 9) for my first monitoring u/s. This seemed a little early to me... maybe because it's the first cycle they want to keep a close eye on everything?

I'm waiting for the pharmacy to open so I can call and order my trigger shot ... exciting things happening over here!
  • @Kim41313 - Welcome!

@Funnygirl34 - FX your estrogen is much higher tomorrow!

  • @Kim41313 Nice to see you over here, too! In my experience, my RE has you return a week after you start the letrozole. It sounds like you'll be almost to a week? Good luck with your cycle!

AFM I got a positive OPK on Saturday--which was pretty unexpected since I'd had only a faint line Friday--so we did the IUI yesterday morning. It went very smoothly but DH's count was abymismal again (2.5 million total motile) which upset him because it had improved significantly with the clomid in our previous two IUIs. This time it was back to where it was when we started IUIs last fall. Likely it had something to do with us not abstaining as long as we would have, given the surprise OPK. Suffice to say we're both pretty depressed, especially because this is our last IUI ever and then it's on to IVF.

May the rest of you have more successful cycles!!
  • @Bababatty hopefully dtd before your surprise positive opk boosted the odds. I hope this is your month and you don't have to move onto Ivf
  • I'm so sorry to hear that @Bababatty and know how strange it is the way the count's move up and down. We went from 2 million to 58 million to 6 million again with no different factors between the 58 million and 6 million. Also low on other two measures.

I'm really sorry you have to go to IVF but at least the success rates are much higher. I can't remember, do you have any help with payment? I hope you have quick success with it!

  • @Bababatty thank you! That makes sense. I started yesterday (Sunday) and I think they try to avoid coming in Sundays if they can, so going back in Saturday makes sense. I am sorry about the low count for this IUI :(

@greenhillgirl MH's 1st 2 SA were wildly different also (1st was 6 mil, 2nd was 60 mil). I am anxious about what the next one will show. Its very confusing when that happens, especially when there aren't any other factors that could have caused the change.
  • @Kim41313 Welcome!

@Bababatty I've read on these boards that even with 1 million people have gotten their BFP. Don't be discouraged.

AFM- I had my IUI last wednessy and ended up with Ovarian Hyperstimultiom from
have so many follicle. It was the worst pain ever and I looked 6 months pregnant from my ovaries being so swollen. I drank tons of Gatorade and stocked up on sunflower seeds( weird I know but it says to have a high sodium diet) the OHSS finally calmed down and started the progesterone vaginal pills. Yesterday I had whatlooked like pink spotting, don't know if that would mean anything as I would have only been 5dpiui. I'm wondering if I could test on Sunday which would be Father's Day and would be a great gift to give the hubby but might be too early at 12dpiui. Has anyone else ever had Ovarian Hyperstimulation??
  • moni2016 I had a minor case of it during my first Clomid cycle.  It sucks!  Glad you're feeling better!  How many follicles did you have?

@Bababatty - I'm sorry for DH's sperm numbers/surprise OPK. I'm hoping this is your cycle anyway!

@moni2016 - I went back to look to see how many follies you had... 7??? Holy cow. Were they all mature? I don't think my RE would do an IUI with that many. I think OHHS usually happens with IVF rather than IUI because IUI cycles don't usually produce as many follicles (due to trying to avoid higher order multiples). Glad you're feeling a little better.

AFM - F/u ultrasound showed 2 follies (21mm and 20mm) and my lining was 9mm so triggered this morning and IUI tomorrow.

  • Had lab work done this morning and got my E2 back...630! It went from 55 on Friday to 630 today!! Doesn't that seem insane?!  I'm nervous they're going to cancel my cycle due to too many follicles (which wouldn't be the first time).  I go in for an ultrasound tomorrow AM. Ugh!  Nothing seems to go smoothly.

  • @Funnygirl34 I had 7 follicles but I have a blocked tube( supposedly according to my tubal test, but the weird thing is my May IUI was cancelled due to the 1 follicle I had was on the blocked side and I had a chemical pregnancy) so I had 3 mature follicles and some that were like 13mm. They did my E2 and it was at 1100 so they had me trigger and then IUI I didn't get OHSS til like 9 pm that night almost 10hours after IUI. I hope they don't have to cancel your cycle, it sucks having to cancel and start over.

@dmo1371 sounds like you have great follicles and lining. Good luck on your IUI tomorrow!!
  • @J1006 how did you u/s go?

I had my u/s this AM and blood drawn. Waiting for results of the bloodworm, but my u/s showed one follicle at 12, one at 11, one at 10, one at 9 and one at 8. Normally I O early, so I was actually nervous about having my us on CD 11 because I worried it would be too late, but I guess the b/c and clomid have slowed my growth? Either way, another u/s on Thursday for me.
  • @kiwi2628 lots of follies! That's interesting that the clomid would delay ovulation, but good in your situation so you dont miss the window!
  • Thank you all so much for your kind words yesterday!  It's hard not to wallow in self pity, so I really appreciate you helping to pick me back up.  It means a lot to be able to discuss this with ladies who know exactly how you feel.   :)

@moni2016 I'm sorry you got OHSS! I'm glad you're starting to feel better.

@dmo1371 Good luck with your IUI today!  Hooray for some nice looking follies!

@FunnyGirl34 I hope you didn't end up with too many follies!  What did the u/s show today?

@kiwi2628 I've heard clomid can change when you normally ovulate--or at least that's what an RE said to me but I didn't push on how it changes (i.e., earlier, later, etc.).  I think it might delay it because you can get some really big follies on clomid.  Good luck with your u/s on Thursday!
  • J1006J1006 member
@kiwi2628. U/S went well I have one measuring at 18 and one other smaller one both in my right side. I'm triggering tomorrow night and will have my IUI on Friday.

Anyone usually get get two or more mature follicles on letrozole? Last time I had two, this time and the time before that I only had one. Maybe my right ovary is just stubborn.

Just got off the phone with my RE my prog was only a little over 5. I just don't get it. Now I guess just wait for next cycle  :(
  • @J1006 Most of the time I had 2 on letrozole, once I had one. My RE at least is shooting for at least two since I produce one on my own anyway. You might ask yours if you should increase the dose if you end up needing another cycle.

@rel_1987 I'm sorry about the bad news! Hugs to you!
  • @J1006 I never got over 2 with a letrozole combo cycle. Only time I get more was when I was put on Follistim alone. Best of luck to you this cycle!!

  • @J1006 - I've been on letrozole four times, and this is the first cycle I've gotten two follicles (first time I've gotten one on my R side).

@rel_1987 - I'm so sorry. Does that mean you didn't ovulate? I always worry about the trigger not working.

I asked the nurse today how many IUIs they usually recommended before IVF and she said three. The next appointment my RE had was six weeks from now, so if this doesn't work we may end up doing a fourth so we're not wasting a month. I'm expecting him to call today (he always does after IUIs to say good luck), so I will see what he thinks.

  • @dmo1371 the nurse didn't say. I researched it and it said over 5 means some form of ovulation but I know from the past my doc likes to see results higher than 10.
  • Well, as I suspected, I have way way too many follicles.  The ultrasound showed about 9-10 mature or almost mature follicles.  So, my cycle was cancelled.  I'm so disappointed and discouraged.  Now I wait for my period to start.  The thing that sucks is I will most likely have to sit out next cycle due to the cysts that will form from these damn follicles.

I freaking hate PCOS!  I sure wish my body would produce fewer follicles.

@Funnygirl34 - I'm so sorry to hear this cycle is cancelled. I see in your siggy you've done clomid. Have you ever tried femara? I think injectables typically produce more follies especially in us PCOS gals. May be worth asking your RE about since this is the second cycle on injectables that you've had too many follies? @bpietronicco Sorry about the BFN :( It seems like we are in the same boat (needing IVF but out of pocket and not sure if we can swing it financially). Good luck with whatever path you decide to go down.

@dmo1371 Good luck with your IUI! Hope it went well today.

@rel_1987 My clinic makes everyone take progesterone whether they need it or not. They won't even do progesterone checks. I take 200mg 2x day. Do you think it would be beneficial to just automatically take the supps every cycle post ovulation, or is this cycle an anomaly?

@J1006 This is the first cycle I have had only one follicle on letrezole. My other cycles I have had 5-6 mature follicles (all the same protocol....I take 8 tabs of 2.5 mg on CD 3).

@Funnygirl34 I am so sorry your cycle got cancelled :( I constantly live in fear of cancelled cycles because of my high AFC and the fact that my ovaries are good responders. My RE won't even put me on injectables with IUI because he is scared of how my ovaries will respond. Are you forbidden from trying TI this cycle?

@Funnygirl34 I can't say what you should do but I know I would soo try. I doubt all would ovulate. Are you gonna use OPKs?
  • @Funnygirl34 - Personally, I would refrain. You said there were 9-10 mature or almost mature follies so even if only half of them ovulated you'd still be at risk for HOMs. The risk wouldn't be worth it to me.

  • @Funnygirl34 I'm so sorry to hear your cycle was cancelled! That's so frustrating! I hope next cycle your doctor is able to find a protocol that works better and produces less follicle. As for if you should try, I wouldn't. But I'm also terrified of HOM because I know I would never do a selective reduction. It wouldn't be worth the risk for me.

@bpietronicco I'm sorry about the BFN! Sounds like we are also in a similar boat re: IVF. Lots of hugs to you!

  • tosh24tosh24 member
@Funnygirl34 I think it depends. When I had 6 mature follies my b2b IUI was cancelled but my RE did 1 IUI and told us to do TI. He said most REs would have cancelled the cycle completely and had I been new to IF and just starting out treatments, he would have. But, given that I was 5 years in and (TW) the only pregnancy I've had has been a mc (End TW), he thinks we could be dealing with an egg quality issue so he was more confident that not all would fertilize and implant. Also, I am open to considering selective reduction but that is a VERY personal decision. We are also dealing with lower motility so my RE was comfortable moving ahead and I was comfortable doing TI. Given my situation, if I had 9 mature follicles I would probably still do TI but I think it's something you should talk to your RE about.

  • I'm officially joining the June board! BFN for my May IUI! Waiting for my day 3 to come now.
  • Welcome @sunnynat2015  and glad you joined us although sorry about the May BFN.

I'd been struggling with my first IUI 2WW and trying to ignore symptoms because I know my hormones have been crazy. But now I'm feeling kind of hopeful. I'm at 9dpiui and I'm pretty sure 9dpo and just had a little brown spotting in the bathroom. I've never had spotting outside my cycle before and I'm still not expecting my period for 6 days. I'm also having cramps and sore boobs as well as some other annoying symptoms on and off.  I'm trying not to be too hopeful since this is the 23rd cycle we're ttc but spotting is new.

How is everyone else doing? I have a big work event I'm running tonight and trying not to show the emotional roller coaster my hormones are giving me, weather its a bfp or pms. Woooheeee :#

The one plus side of taking progesterone is I can pick which day I want to stop and have AF show up so I'll keep using them until the weekend because it's my wedding anniversary on Saturday and I'd rather AF not be here for that. I'm going through an appeals process right now with my insurance company/employer to try to get them to cover IVF since it's the only way I can afford it. If not, we have maybe 2 cycles of IUIs left before we call it quits which is sending me into fits of panic just thinking about.
