Re: Weekly BFest (6/5)

  • Hi ladies! I'm back from out of town so I have computer access again! Yay!
my Bfest - The yearly staff baseball game is coming up and coworkers are volunteering me to be the DD. 1) I don't even want to go, I just experienced sweltering heat in California and it made me feel very badly. We would be in the sun/heat again if we went 2) Just because I'm preggo does not mean that I want to chauffeur everyone around. I just want to go home early and rest.

I'm trying to figure out a way to make my OB appointment that day instead or just say that I have to go in for additional testing.

  • @VLillyV id def come up with some medical excuse! I dont want to pick up nor drop off anyone. Just let me make an appearance and disappear as soon as you guys are busy having fun lol
  • @migdala I'm concern about buying pet medications from the vet because of the cost. We already have one of our dogs on an expensive allergy medication and I don't think we can afford another.

  • My BF today is my dog. We went and had her spayed Friday, she did amazing. Had her out all weekend in the house with no cone of shame and she didn't mess with her incision. This morning I wake up to blood all in her bed and she's dripping. She licked her incision so the scabs came off and she was bleeding all over the house, of course on the morning my DH and I had to go to work. I put the cone on her, got in the shower, got out and the cone was already off... like dog. Stop licking or your guts will fall out. STAHPPPPP!

    Okay, I'm done.

Just oray the cone stayed on her this time because I've been at work all day...

@tyannej My dogs are cone ninjas too!  I don't know how long she's supposed to wear the cone for, but we ended up getting the donut cone for ours because A) he kept wriggling out of the regular one, and B) he kept running full-speed with it on and it would catch on corners and whip him face-first into the wall.  The donut cone velcros on and no matter how much he wriggled, our little Houdini never was able to get it off.  Poor pupper, I hope she feels better soon!

    ETA - Hahaha I didn't know that B + ) = B)!  The more you know

    I have another BF!

I just logged in to The Bump from a computer. (First time in about 3 years) I can't change my signature! When I go to the preferences to change it nothing shows up in the signature box. I am not sure if this is because  changed my username. Google didn't help. On a positive note though I really like computer bumping better than mobile bumping.

UPDATE: I figured out. I logged on to the wrong account. Blame Mondays and preggo brain.

    Test
  • @migdala I don't understand, and I got home from work today and she can still lick her incision with the cone on... *eyeroll* one of my vet friends told me to get a bigger cone... where can I get that donut one? That may work! I hope she does too. I just want it to heal enough I don't have to worry about seeing her insides!
  • @feeislove I say give the Benadryl a shot. We've been giving it to my dogs for yearsssss now with no adverse effects for allergies (I buy the generic Costco brand. You get a giant bottle for like 5 bucks). But I will say, I don't think it makes them sleepy (my 60lb dog gets between 4-6 pills a day lol). Like someone else said, I think it affects different dogs differently. I think it even barely helps with their allergies but I'm too cheap to buy what my vet actually reccomends (40 bucks every two weeks- no thanks. They can be a little itchy.)

when my dog was hurt and needed to be crated for 8 weeks I was given a prescription for Acepromazine to calm her down. I think that was the doggie xanax equivalent.

@tyannej. We Had to get my dog a donut collar when he got fixed.  When we put the cone on him he would sit there motionless on the floor until you took it off.  They have the donuts at petsmart,  Petco etc.

    Something like this one. https://www.google.com/shopping/product/14182677381338978851?lsf=seller:8064,store:17740663887348043184&prds=oid:16915421012693145071&q=donut+dog+cone&hl=en&ei=swQ2WcHrNIfQjwSIkoHoBw&lsft=gclid:CjwKEAjwgtTJBRDRmd6ZtLrGyxwSJAA7Fy-h0CK7N2ud8knoTsS6qvbhEoco1SfqeG7HdHGSlj8s-BoCDsjw_wcB

It was nice because he could easily eat and drink but couldn't reach the stitches.
  • @tyannej I'm not sure how big your dog is, but you could try putting an old tshirt on her to see if it would stop her. May or may not work but worth a shot! My dog had a lump removed and it's what our vet recommended we do but luckily
    he wasn't interested in licking.

  • @tyannej What a tenacious girl you have!!! We got ours on Amazon, it's made by Kong. They call it the Cloud E-Collar. I hope your girl calms down and lets herself heal!
  • Ugh...Chase bank needs to get their s**t together. I keep getting notices to check if the email they have on file is correct.  It is, however in the past it's randomly changed to an old one (without me making that change, mind you).  So I don't know what's going on and this has been going on for months.  I call every time and double check the email account (spoiler alert-it's correct), but still the same thing about every 1-2 months. Our neighborhood is one of the few that has the regular mailboxes at each house rather than the USPS one that you need a key for. Unfortunately, mail has been stolen many years ago, so we don't have bills mailed to the house.

@melarowan That's what you get for trying to do the right thing. But what a shadeball! That sucks. I hope your day gets better.
  • @ForwardnBackward  Sorry to hear that DS is getting bitten.  Too bad it's not winter, so you can bundle him in long sleeves and gloves.

  • @ForwardnBackward DD used to be the biter and it was so embarrassing to be told she did it. We would talk to her about but she was two. After a few months she grew out of it. Now when I pick her up sometimes she gets bit and I don't feel too bad for her. A month ago though some kid threw a book at her and her face was all scratched up. Daycare is vicious.

  • So I'm sitting at the dentist right now. I had an appointment for 2:10. The dentist comes in, does an exam in like 5 minutes, and they tell me my cleaning isn't until 3:00. Ummmmmmm ok, I'll just sit here. Weird scheduling. I wasn't planning on this downtime and my phone battery is about dead. Grrr.

  • Completely random bfest....
WHYY must our dog puke on a rug?! We own TWO rugs... twoooo. And she always ends up chucking on top of one of them.
  • @canonmom413 right there with you! I can't believe the struggle to roll over already. Plus the hip pain and full bladder. Just ugh! I woke up at 4:00 this morning because of all the rearranging needed just to get comfy again.
I got in the bed and shortly after my husband said he wanted me to get off for a few minutes while he fixed the sheets. I was having pelvic and sciatic nerve pain then so I told him "I know this will sound funny, but can you please push me off the bed like a bag of potatoes? It hurts too much to roll over." He did though and I felt no pain

No offense but that sounds a little dangerous...

  • My dear dear husband is having some tooth pain due to a wisdom tooth cutting through. We are out of pain meds at home and he's craaaanky. The problem is he refuses to get them removed right now bc our out of pocket pay with me around $1000 and money is already tight. The other day I told him we could probably do a payment plan for a few months and his response "we already have enough monthly payments". I told him if he doesn't get them taken out its going to be fun being around him. Ugh
  • @curlyq423 i ssssso feel you. H has been suffering from wisdom teeth aches for two weeks now. He is no fun... Hang in there!
  • DH has been taking on side jobs to bring in extra money in addition to his full time job.  This means he's working an additional 3-4 hours after his regular job during the week, and over the weekend.  It's great because it's helping us save up some money before the baby gets here, but that means that things at home are being put off to the side.  Our dishwasher isn't working right and he still needs to take a look at it, plus a number of small projects (we're talking 1-2 hours max) that need done and I have no clue how to do them or else I'd do it.

I realize that I may sound ungrateful for what he's been doing because it's been helping us, but I need his help at home too.  Honestly...he wanted to work all day on Memorial Day (after working all weekend) and I had to put my foot down.  I would like to spend at least a holiday off with DH.

  • @curlyq423 are any of his wisdom teeth impacted? Both my bottom ones were impacted and because of that, I had to be put under and it was considered a medical necessity, so my insurance covered almost all of it. I was told to expect to owe them around $1400 and had to pay them over $400 the day of as a "down payment". Two months afterwards, I got a check back for over $300! My health insurance ended up covering it, not dental.
  • @curlyq423 maybe you can get some of those frozen teething rings for the baby and let DH test them out first?
  • @sjohns908 I think 2 of the 4 are impacted, but I'm not sure which is bothering him. I think the dentist office ran stuff through insurance or checked what we would owe after they covered it and $1000 is what they came up with, but maybe that's for the two that aren't impacted.
  • edited June 2017
@curlyq423 I will say, the cost of every single insurance-covered procedure I've ever had has been overestimated by the doctors office. Every single one, medical and dental. It's definitely reasonable to expect that it will end up being less than that $1000.

  • @bluejeanbabi05 I might lie and tell him it's cheaper, haha.  I can't do this until the end of the year when I can up out insurance! But that's good to know, thank you!
  • @bluejeanbabi05 that was absolutely the worst recovery I've had also.  I took more oxycodone with my wisdom teeth removal than I did with my breast reduction. Thank goodness it's one of those surgeries where you will never, ever have to deal with it again.

@curlyq423 when I got the estimate, they didn't run it through insurance but told me to expect to owe most of it because insurance usually doesn't cover much. But I'm pretty sure she was just referring to dental. I had them run it through both dental and health and then I ended up only owing a little over $100 in the end.
  • @sjohns908 Thank you! Good to know! I'll have to call them or have him do it  (ha ha ha. He won't call!).
