Ooohh @Jens_Hoes on the calendar! That's gotta feel good! I'm hoping they'll schedule me during my appointment tomorrow. Looks like we'll be neck and neck for caboose baby hopefully neither of us makes it to our induction date though! It will be funny if we go into labor on the same day!
We need to keep up with our uo Thursday and fffc, simply because I cannot keep up with the days of the week anymore!
I also think a fitness thread would be good. Surprisingly my stomach went down pretty fast this time since I didn't gain as much, but tightening back up might be a challenge. The other day I got asked by a stranger "so when are you due" I wanted to give the lady the middle finger and say 8 days ago biatch, there's my baby right there...I still wonder why people think it's ok to ask
Yay for all the babies being born and induction dates in sight, it's so much easier to move around not being pregnant.
@lrwardrop I got asked when I was due too and at the time had to say I had him 12 days ago. Seriously I have a belly but it's not large and could just be chub. How are people so bold?!
Ok so stupid question time - pregnancy constipation finally hit me somehow. I've only had a couple doses of colace but haven't gone in at least 3-4 days despite the constant sensation of needing to go. I'm about to do some Miralax - I'm assuming it's still ok? Even this late in pregnancy? I know it's far from castor oil but I'm kind of nervous
I would love a fitness thread too! I have always been very active and went back to the gym ( for light weight stuff) last week! My OB said when I stopped bleeding I could resume physical activity so I went back last Friday. Luckily nothing has resumed so I guess I am good to continue! It's hard to get back into a routine with 2 kids under 2 but I am determined to keep up my fitness plan! I even made it to hot yoga Saturday which was an hour and 15 minutes of pure peace! I can't wait to go back tomorrow evening!
I am not really one to worry about numbers on a scale. I care more about how I feel and my energy levels! So far I am feeling great and that is keeping me motivated!
@lnds32, an hour and a half of hot yoga sounds wonderfully peaceful! Great job getting back to the gym so fast.
I had some time to myself today going to the doctor and running errands. It was so nice to be out of the house alone, and I felt refreshed coming back to my fussy baby. I'm hoping the gas drops and bliss water that I bought today will help. It also could just be that he's finally acting like a real newborn after 5 weeks of being a sleepy preemie baby! We hit his due date yesterday.
I would be down for a fitness thread! I'm not one for really working out, but I think I need to do something. I'm actually at my pre pregnancy weight, but there is a serious misallocation of weight occurring and I want to fix that and drop about 10 pounds before I go back to work in 6 weeks. We will see if that happens...
I would love a fitness thread. Had my 6wk pp check today and I'm the same weight from my 2wk check. I joined our community masters swimming program (I swam thru college) and practice starts Monday:/ im super nervous. I've never been this heavy and I'm looking forward to the journey of finding my "skinny mom body":)
Today was my first day home alone with the kids... 11 day old baby and 21 month old toddler. My toddler cries way more than the baby... I am exhausted.. I remember thinking I was busy and tired with 1 baby, with 2 it's challenging giving each child enough attention.
Just catching up... I also intend to stay active here, so I'm glad to see others from Hogwarts are doing the same.
@mrsrep123 How nice of your mothers to help out! Our parents had food and support ready when we got home from the hospital, and it was so nice! I didn't think I'd want visitors, but I ended up really appreciating their support.
In regards to pp body, I'm just ignoring it for now. I gained 40 lbs and haven't weighed myself pp. I have this big, loose belly and weirdly saggy butt (no more shame), but awesome boobs. I figure I'll start returning to normal at some point, but I'm not really ready to make any weight loss efforts yet. Also only 4 days pp. I do wonder if I'll ever be able to fit back into my pants. I feel like my hips are just wider now.
@Jens_Hoes Leaving the dog was hard for me, too. We had to leave in the middle of the night. I had a friend on call to stop by, but she didn't get there until 9:30 that morning, by which time my dog had peed inside. Then my parents stayed at our house once they got into town, but my dog still had to be kenneled more than usual. When we got home, she was perfectly fine. Just remind yourself that dogs are very adjustable, and it'll only be a couple days.
Quick update on my end of things. Holy crap, I love this kid so much! Juniper is now 3 days old and pretty dang awesome. So far, she rarely fusses, sleeps on flat surfaces without a problem, and has gotten much better at feeding. She does currently have about 3 hours in the middle of the night where she doesn't want to settle and cluster feeds, but the rest of the day is easy, so I won't complain. Unfortunately, her bilirubin levels are higher than they'd like, so we currently need to keep her in a bili blanket (basically there's a phototherapy pad we put inside a sleep sack, and she lays on the pad whenever possible. It's a bummer...we can't do simple things yet like go in the stroller or dress her in normal clothes or hold her without this big glowing cocoon. But on the upside, her levels aren't bad enough that she needs to be in the hospital under lights. We have a peds appt in the morning and should get an update on whether or not we need to continue the blanket.
@starphish18 I am sure they mentioned it to you but if you can put her in front of a window during the day! It will also help her bilirubin levels come down! I hope things go well for you guys tomorrow!
@starphish18 FX her levels are down and you'll be able to dress her in all the awesome outfits you have! It is crazy how much love you feel for your baby. I remember thinking that with DS1 and now again with DS2.
@lrwardrop and @Louise_Belcher solidarity ladies! I have the same ages and you're right, my toddler has been crying more than my newborn. In the past 3 weeks, I think I've been alone with them just 3 times and only for a few hours but it is anxiety-inducing for sure. Good luck ladies.
@Louise_Belcher, @lrwardrop, and @mrsrep123 the toddler baby thing is so hard! DS had an accident yesterday when I was pumping and I felt so bad that I couldn't help him. He has been a lot more emotional lately too. I've only been alone with them both of them a handful of times but oof it is rough.
@RainyDays86 It's so hard. DS1 is speech delayed and just learned to say 'help' which is huge for him and we are supposed to spring into action when he says it. Not as possible for me right now. While pumping he needed something and kept yelling help and when I told him I couldn't help yet he cried so hard. He has pretty sensitive feelings lately.
Also on the toddler front, I lost my mind and decided to move DS1 (21mo) to his twin bed a week ago since he was currently occupying the only crib. I guess I figure we are up constantly right now anyway might as well lose all the sleep. The first two days we had to throw in the towel and put him in the crib, but since then he has slept in his big boy bed like a champ. (Watch now I have jinxed myself for tonight!)
@Louise_Belcher curious, when you say your toddler is speech delayed, is it that he wasn't saying anything? DS1 says words and understands what we're saying, but he hasn't strung together a sentence or anything. At his 18 month appointment, our pediatrician said as long as he understands what you're saying and not speaking yet, that's fine. I guess we'll see what she says at his 2 year appt.
@mrsrep123 As of 18 mo he was communicating at about a 9 mo level according to his evaluation. He only said uh oh (no mama or dada) and refused to point out known objects. He has increased his vocabulary since then with the support of his speech therapist but is still very behind. His comprehension is good and he knows what we are saying and if he wants to will follow commands but usually fails to mimic or attempt words. He is extremely good at not making eye contact when you are trying to challenge him. If he doesn't look at you he doesn't need to acknowledge what you are saying. He is STUBBORN and cunning. While he has now said mama I am not getting him to associate it with me. Hopefully soon!
@Louise_Belcher thanks for sharing. I'm glad he's making progress with the addition of a speech therapist and hopefully will be mimicking and attemptimg words soon.
I've had two older male acquaintances ask me at different times "What are you feeding him?" I wonder if they're asking whether I'm feeding him breastmilk or formula or if they don't know that one-month-old's don't eat solid foods yet. I think it's the former. I say I feed him my milk in bottles, but the question catches me off guard. I don't want to go into my EP journey with everyone.

@kns1988 why are people so weird? Maybe we should start a "stupid stuff people have said now that the baby's born" thread. Next time say "the blood of his enemies" or something
@Louise_Belcher my heart breaks for your little toddler! I feel so bad not being able to help when DS asks, especially since they don't understand why Mommy can't help. Mines about the same age as yours! Poor munchkins.
@kns1988 - man people are weird. I stopped by the office to give HR a copy of Elliott's ss card, and a coworker asked me if she was sleeping through the night yet. Fortunately someone else was standing near by and scoffed for me!!! Lol
Random question: how long did it take for you to get baby's Social security card and birth certificate? I'm worried about getting them and adding DS to insurance. He is already 3 weeks old.
@mspacman34 Most insurance companies should let you add them first, then call back with the social security number. If I recall, you had a hospital birth. Therefore the enumeration at birth process takes an average of 2-3 weeks. You should hopefully receive the card any day now.
@mspacman34 His SS card came last week (he's 3wks today). I have always had to order/request the birth certificate separately, they won't just automatically send it!
