My mom and MIL both came to visit yesterday. It was great. MIL cooked and my mom basically took over DS2 duties (she had missed him so much as she hasn't been back in 2 weeks). It seems like his 2-3 week growth spurt is starting to taper so it was nice that MH, DS1 and I got to have a nice, long 3 hour nap while the moms did their things. Oh, MIL even cleaned the downstairs bathroom. So awesome! I seriously can't wait until our house is done which will have us even closer to both of them.
Hoping everyone is settling in well and finding their routines!
No big plans this week as I was hoping to have an outside baby by now! I'm off work until Thursday so planning on lots of walking, RRL tea, pineapple etc! Lol. And I guess sleeping? I'm getting bored with the waiting game and will be relieved if we can get an induction date on the calendar for next week at my next appointment on Wednesday!
My random today is about my weight, which I hope is okay to post. I'm 5 weeks pp and really wanting to fit back into all of my pants. I have 10 pounds left to lose, and I'm usually good at losing weight, but nursing is making is extra hard because I'm hungry all the time. I can't talk to DH about it because he gets overly concerned at any mention of dieting - he has a severely anorexic cousin and is always on the lookout for signs of eating disorders, but that's his own hangup. How have others been feeling or dealing with body changes postpartum?

Stella wants to go outside again. H took her out this morning but she only peed. So now she's whining at me but I have a sleeping baby so it's. It like I can take her out. We have this fake grass stuff on our lanai but she wants nothing to do with it. Ugh...I want to go back to sleep for a little bit since Ollie is sleeping but with the whining I don't know that it will happen. I even told Stella go in the house I give you permission lol I'll clean it up but I don't think she understands *sigh*
My bio dad is coming over today with my step mom. I really wanted H to be here when they got here but I don't think he will unless he gets off work early. I don't have the greatest relation ship with them it trying. Really need sleep to get through this day!
Yesterday we hung out at my parents house with my sister and brother so they could meet Ollie. It was so cute to see them hold him and gush over him. So sweet
I'm trying really hard to post here and at Hogwarts! It's hard to post on either of them sometimes! Hoping all of you with inside babies still are doing well!! Hang in there!!
@kns1988 I'm so hungry all of the time pumping! I feel like I'm even more hungry than I was when pregnant! Trying not to worry about fitting into prepregnancy clothes just yet. I'm only 12 days pp. I feel like my stomach has gone done a lot though which surprised me! Probably all of the pumping haha don't put too much pressure on yourself. You'll get back to the weight you were in time

H became extremely anxious last night about switching jobs and baby coming soon. I'm not sure what to do to help since he isn't normally an anxious person. Also really hoping I don't make it to my appointments tomorrow. I am not looking forward to sitting at the doctors from 1-5. @kns1988 I know a lot of women struggle with their body post baby. I know friends finally getting the clearance to work out helps a lot of them and they just start moving more. But you already sound so active! Are there possibly healthier snacks that could be eaten? I think its March there a couple women who signed up for weight watchers and they seem to be having success.
Lazy day for me. I have a doctors appt first thing tomorrow morning, where I'll schedule my induction for next Monday or Tuesday, which is so bananas for me. Three days left of work before my maternity, which is even more exciting. I'm starting to get anxiety about leaving our dog. We've both never been away from him, and my husband's "brother" is going to spend the nights here so that he only has to be in the crate during the day, but I still feel so unsettled about it! Good luck to my fellow inside babies, @ShadeofGreen816 and @absbubbs. Why will your doctors appt tomorrow take 4 hours?
@kns1988 I imagine I will feel the same as you postpartum, and my plan is to hopefully be as active as I can. Only having 10 pounds left to lose sounds like an awesome accomplishment already.
@Jens_Hoes normally they can schedule the nst, afi, and doctors appointments right in a row, but I lucked out with getting a schedule that has an hour wait between each thing. I could leave between each appointment, but what am I going to do for 30 minutes before I have to go back? Almost makes me wish my appointments where in different buildings so I could waste time.
@absbubbs, I definitely could eat healthier. I buy healthy snacks with good intentions, but then I just eat them in addition to all of the carbs and cookies. I wish there was a setting in Myfitnesspal for breastfeeding/pumping women.

I know the feeling @kns1988! I've been craving fruit the whole time, but that doesn't stop me from eating a ton of watermelon AND cookies at the same time. I agree about MyFitnessPal! They also need a pregnancy setting!
@Jens_Hoes, scheduling the induction is exciting! Good luck this week. Leaving the pup was hard for me because of all of the postpartum hormones, but for her, it was no different than when we take her to the kennel when we go on vacation.

@mrsrep123 Your mom and MIL sounds great! How awesome to get a nap and have your bathroom cleaned!!
@kns1988 Congratulations on doing so well with weight loss so far! I feel you on wanting to be back to normal asap. I am anxious as well, but trying to stay realistic. Trying to remind myself it took 40 weeks to gain, but it's hard. I am 3 weeks pp and have about 20lbs left.
@BabyMC517 Sorry about the doggie struggles. I hope the visitors go far better than you expect today.
@absbubbs Oh man that appointment schedule stinks!
@Jens_Hoes Aww! You are a good doggie mommy. Hope your puppy does awesome when you have your hospital stay.
We are going to ILs this afternoon because we skipped an extended family gathering on Saturday. H has been suffering from some kind of allergic reaction that is effecting the skin around his eyes. He didn't want to have to explain what was up and was extra itchy and his uncles piss him off. It has been happening on and off for about 3 months and is getting worse and worse. He has been to the dr 3 times and the allergist 1 time now. He is set to go back to the allergist next week, but it is getting so bad that I he will be calling tomorrow. This morning they are so swollen, red, itchy, and peeling. I feel bad for him. Any photo with the baby he looks like a hot mess.
@kns1988 I totally feel you on the PP body issues. I am only 9 days PP but I am discouraged by how big my belly is still - I remember it being smaller at this point after DS1. But, what others have said is true. It took 9 months to put on, it's pretty normal for it to take a long time to come off. I just need to get better about reminding myself of that. In the meantime, solidarity! It's great that you're so active and try not to beat yourself up about eating carbs and occasional junk. Breastfeeding burns a ton of calories!
I can't take all of the credit for weight loss because the circumstances just aligned that it pretty much took care of itself up until now (only 35 weeks gestation, 4.5 pound baby, FTM). The last 10 will be the struggle. Maybe we should start a fitness thing when we're all further along PP.
@Louise_Belcher, I hope your H feels better! I think eye issues are one of the worst things to deal with. Probably worse than stomach and dental problems IMO.
Me: 29, DH: 31 Married: October 2014 Began TTC: April 2015 BFP #1: 9/18/15. EDD 5/18/16. MC 10/26/15. (9w) BFP #2: 2/27/16. EDD 11/7/16. MC/D&E 4/20/16 (11w) BFP #3: 9/22/16. EDD 5/29/17. DS born 4/24/17 BFP #4: 5/20/18. EDD 1/23/19.
The plan is to chill out today at home mostly although we do need to go to the grocery store and Target. On Saturday we had a birthday party and yesterday we went to another friends house and stayed pretty late on both days. So we had two days with NO naps for either H or I which was difficult.
@kns1988 I agree a fitness thread once we are farther along PP would be good. I know MFP doesn't have a pregnancy setting, but if I remember correctly you can manually adjust your calorie intake goal so you could just add 300-500 calories to what they recommend so you can have a better target?!

I was just going to suggest manually adding 400-500 cals to your MFP goal. At the very least, logging food should help with accountability? And like everyone else said, it took 9 months to put on so be patient with yourself! You're so darn teeny tiny to begin with I bet you still look amazing!
@kns1988 I gained a total of 26 pounds and one week postpartum (last Thursday) I lost 14 so I presumably have 12 more to go. My stomach went down way faster than I expected but I think losing 12 pounds will take a while since I'm still feeling really sore so I can't really exercise. I'm just taking it day by day. Latched mama has some super cute and flattering nursing dresses if you're looking for clothes.
@Jens_Hoes Leaving my pup was so hard. He's our baby. That said, my sister took him and he had a great time so I hear. Now, he's back and doing great with the baby. Your dog will be fine and he/she will be so excited to see you when you come home.
@ShadeofGreen816 hang in there! Hopefully baby arrives before your next shift on Thursday!
@kns1988 we ended up switching lots during the building process, so instead of July'ish, we are looking at September'ish. The first timeline would've worked out so much better as I'm returning to work the beginning of August, but the lot location is waaaaaay better. Also, like pp have said, you're already doing great with your pp weight loss. While still pumping and making breast milk, your body will hold on to about 10 extra pounds, so there's that! I ended up starting this pregnancy 10 lbs more than what I was starting with DS1. So far, I am 3 weeks pp with 10 lbs left to lose with this pregnancy and 20 lb total. I'm not worried, though, as I haven't even started being active yet (unless climbing up and down the stairs 20+ times a day counts). Lol
@Yiggle09 good luck today. It's weird how mixed our feelings can be right now. When my mom took over DS2 duties yesterday, I was totally missing him and wanted to take back over but also taking full advantage of the break. Hormones...
@BabyMC517 That's hilarious that you told your dog to just go inside and you'd clean it up later! Good luck today with your bio Dad's visit and hoping your H makes it home in time. I can't imagine trying to post here and at Hogwarts but glad so many of you still are trying!
@absbubbs I think you just listening and acknowledging his anxiousness is a good start in helping your H. It's totally normal and sometimes just talking about those feelings helps to resolve them. Good luck at all of your appointments!
@Jens_Hoes Yaye, for getting your induction scheduled. Sucks to leave your pup, but maybe you can have your H' s brother FaceTime you guys during the induction downtime??
@Louise_Belcher They are! I really lucked out in the MIL category! I hope your H gets some relief soon and most importantly, so you can get some good pics of him and your DS2!
I agree about a check in a little further along for fitness/health stuff. I'm obviously behind most of you, as I still have an inside baby. But I gained WAY more than I had thought I would/wanted to, so I am really looking forward to feeling like myself again.
@kns1988 - I've got about 10 lbs to go, as well, but I'm trying not to focus on it. With DS, I managed to lose the weight without trying too hard, but I definitely lost the last of it after I went back to work. Being at home with access to all of the delicious food is hard!!! I saw that @absbubbs mentioned WW. They do have a setting for breastfeeding, if that interests you.
We are going to see my in laws today. First outing with DD whom is 13 days old. I'm looking forward just to have someone else take care of her for a couple hours.
If DD is sleeping I take the dogs outside or shower. I have the monitor just in case she starts crying but I don't feel bad leaving her alone while I do stuff.
I'm getting so tired of the constant worries I have of taking care of a newborn. I sometimes feel I wasn't made to handle it. Then I see her smile and I know I got this. When DH left for 8 hours I had a minor anxiety attack. I got over it pretty quickly. Hormones.
@mrsrep123, I never heard that about your body holding onto extra weight when BF. That's good to know!
I have such a needy baby today that the closest I could get to a shower was wiping my armpits with a baby wipe. Leisurely showers are one of the things I miss most.

@kns1988 - Totally understand where you're coming from. I think part of the frustration is how fast you lose the first 10-20 pounds and how long it takes to lose the last 10 or so. I wasn't able to nurse very long last time, and it still took the better part of a year to lose all the baby weight. (Full disclosure: I wasn't exactly trying my hardest to drop pounds bc I was in survival mode most of that time.) Be easy on yourself. You'll get there!
It's a cool, rainy day here, and it's hard to keep the toddler entertained on so little sleep. Counting down to his naptime! My husband is home, but we're both pretty dead on our feet. He was supposed to be keeping an eye on our son while I took a shower. Halfway through, though, I see a small shadow on the other side of the shower curtain. A bit like Psycho!
With the GD diet, I actually lost weight pregnant. I gained 6lbs total and birthed a 7 1/2 lb baby. That's great and all, but I'm also a special unicorn who gains weight while breastfeeding. I'm assuming it's partially due to me eating all the carbs I was deprived during pregnancy. Anyway, I've given myself DH's leave to binge and that's up tomorrow. We are starting a low carb (for me) and "no" carb (for DH) tomorrow. I'm hoping to eat enough carbs to keep up my supply and keep some PP weight off. I also hope to be a bit more active with this second kid. At least I have a toddler to chase this time around? So count me in for a fitness thread.
I would be all about a fitness thread! Although honestly I have never been one to workout. So mine may be more of a monitoring my intake effort. Having two under 2 counts as a workout right?!
@kns1988 I try to remind myself that even though I've lost most of the weight, my hips and body have changed because of delivery and it takes a little while for things to settle back to normal. With DD1 and DD2 I would be so frustrated that my pants were still tight but it was really just that my hips were still wide from giving birth!

I would also like a PP weight check in in the future. I gained way more than I wanted so I am a little nervous about losing it all.
My parents have been staying with us to help out and it has been really helpful to have them here to cook and watch DD. But it's a LOT (esp since we only have a small 2br apt). They just left on an errand, DH and DD went on a walk, LO is sleeping, and I'm having my first PP poop in peace. Then I'll nap!
DS finally fits in the ergo! It was a gift, but that thing was pretty damn expensive and I was bummed that I couldn't use it right away. We just went for a really nice walk
Me: 29, DH: 31 Married: October 2014 Began TTC: April 2015 BFP #1: 9/18/15. EDD 5/18/16. MC 10/26/15. (9w) BFP #2: 2/27/16. EDD 11/7/16. MC/D&E 4/20/16 (11w) BFP #3: 9/22/16. EDD 5/29/17. DS born 4/24/17 BFP #4: 5/20/18. EDD 1/23/19.
I'm all for a fitness and healthy eating thread. With my first, I gained so much while breastfeeding because I. Was eating more and starving all the time. In reality, I probably wasn't drinking enough water.
I'll be in for a fitness and diet thread! I should *hopefully* not have TOO much baby weight since I'm up around 10 lbs but I was the heaviest ever when I got pregnant so I've got about 30+ pounds to lose. I'd like to join WW but will probably wait until I return to work because of the cost. Hoping for lots of stroller walks during my maternity leave!
I think a fitness/healthy eating thread would be nice. Also, of a bunch of us have the MFP app you can add friends and encourage each other on there. I'm horrible and remembering to add what I eat on there but when I was doing it with a few people I was a little better with it.
Update on Stella: we have a really good dog who didn't listen to me when I told her to go potty in the apartment lol poor thing held it. We don't have a monitor yet so I just don't feel comfortable leaving Ollie in his bassinet by himself in the apartment to take her out. Makes me nervous to do something like that and we are on the second floor.
Bio dad visit went all right. Just awkward when he brings up stuff with my mom in front of my step mom. At least I think it's awkward. But they were really sweet and excited to see Ollie so that was nice. H didn't get off work early but that's okay. They were still here and we had dinner with them. We'll probably see them on Thursday before they leave Friday. It's just been a busy couple of days and Ollie has been fussy...ready to just relax.

@BabyMC517 I'm glad to hear the visit went well! I would probably be uncomfortable in that situation too. Maybe its something they discuss at home too? Being nervous to leave Ollie with no monitor is completely understandable. I know some people who take their kid outside in the winter to start their car!
I just want to brag for a moment, 11 days PP I'm down 33lbs with no effort what so ever, I'm fitting into jeans that haven't fit since long before DS1 I left hospital skinner than when I fell pregnant. I don't know WTF is going on, but I'm not complaining!

It's my first day home with DD and DS without DH and so far so good. DD is doing pretty well adjusting to being a big sister considering that she turned 2 on Saturday...basically just a bit grouchy and testing her limits, but still my same sweet toddler. +1 for being excited to see that our board isn't completely dead. I checked a few times this weekend and felt entirely bummed to see nothing new going on. On the topic of weight...I'm 5 days PP and I'm genuinely curious to know what my weight is, but I'm trying to go easy on myself. I don't like the idea of being obsessed with changing a body that just did something incredible.
I am definitely in for a weight loss/fitness thread at some point. I am only a week PP, but when I weighed myself a few days ago I was only down about 10 of the 40 lbs I put on. WTH? I know there was more than 10lbs of baby, fluid and placenta in there!! I'm trying not to get discouraged and stay away from the scale, but if I'm being honest I'm super self conscious about still looking pregnant and not having anything flattering to wear. I'm trying not to let it get me down, but I'm excited to be able to exercise again! Never thought I'd utter those words

I hope your H gets some relief soon and most importantly, so you can get some good pics of him and your DS2!

mentioned WW. They do have a setting for breastfeeding, if that interests you.

Hormones.
@ShadeofGreen816, thanks for the compliment
@mrsrep123, I never heard that about your body holding onto extra weight when BF. That's good to know!
I have such a needy baby today that the closest I could get to a shower was wiping my armpits with a baby wipe. Leisurely showers are one of the things I miss most.

I honestly haven't looked at a scale since before I had DS so I have no idea where I am at weight wise.
I worried so much about our dogs while in The hospital, but they were fine with my mom stopping in and feeding them daily.

My parents have been staying with us to help out and it has been really helpful to have them here to cook and watch DD. But it's a LOT (esp since we only have a small 2br apt). They just left on an errand, DH and DD went on a walk, LO is sleeping, and I'm having my first PP poop in peace. Then I'll nap!
hope you all enjoy your long weekends!

I left hospital skinner than when I fell pregnant. I don't know WTF is going on, but I'm not complaining!
