@fivetimesnoluck - good luck today! not that you need it! :-)

@KRenee314 - awwww so excited for you! just a little while now, and you'll be PUPO!

AFM, I was thrilled last night when I decided to take another FRER that had an obvious line (although still light) and a digital, which made it feel more real. But I have to say I'm kind of freaking out, because I took another cheapie this morning (don't have a picture) and at best it's the same as yesterday morning's . . . maybe in between yesterday and Monday morning's. I did drink more water before bed last night but I just don't have a good feeling about this. If my level is going to be over 100 tomorrow then I would think my line would need to be pretty bright tomorrow morning and that just feels so far away . . .

@fivetime Can't wait to hear about your U/S!

@whitebarley You turned a digital, that's huge! Have faith, I'm rooting for your little fighter!!

    @angelaag Good luck!

AFM, I wussed out and tested this morning - BFP!!!!!!!! I can't believe it. It feels like a dream (I know we've all had the BFP dreams and then wake up disappointed).  I stared at it and cried in happiness for like an hour. DH is traveling for work, so somehow I have to keep this in until he gets home on our anniversary (!) at the end of the month. Beta is tomorrow, and I am SO excited to hear that number!

@hbomb513 - yaaaaaaaaaaaaay! i knew your first test was too early! i'm so excited to hear that number, as well!

does anyone have any experience with cheapies fluctuating?
  • Options
Ugh! I'm starting to be less and less impressed with my office. I'm so bummed -- we got there today and one Embryo didn't make it through the thaw. Dr. acted like we would just go ahead and transfer the one embryo.. we both said we wished they would have called us bc we wanted to transfer 2. So the doctor seemed irritated  but we are going back in an hour and 30 mins to try again. They're thawing another one right now. :(

whitebarley I used the same strips as you, they definitely fluctuated early on, I cried every other morning for the first week because they got lighter.  I tried to only compare them to every other day's tests.

krenee124 the DOCTOR seemed irritated?!  I would have been livid!  Hopefully you can relax for the rest of the day now after you get your two in!

    @hbomb513  congrats on the BFP!!!!!

@kris031409 yes, he almost seemed like we should be happy with just one and "this is still really good". I'm so happy I said otherwise. Transfer of 2 precious embryos is complete! One has began to hatch already .. assisted hatching was completed on the 2nd embryo. thank you for your prayers - I've been surprisingly calm. Calmer than my normal.

@krenee124 - i am so sorry you had to deal with that initial craziness/rudeness but good for you for sticking to your guts. congrats on being PUPO!

@kris031409 - you have no idea how much that means to me; so your tests fluctuated but your betas still went up?
  • Options
whitebarley yes, for the first week when they were low, once they hit the hundreds they consistently got darker.  But I think when they're low still, even if they're doubling correctly, they're not going up by that much.

@kaseycoco I am sorry for the BFN. I hope you can take some time to enjoy a glass of wine or something else indulgent. As for medicated vs. non-medicated, I have always been medicated and wouldn't know how to proceed otherwise. I am clearly no doctor, but feel like medicated is the most common treatment. Did you not have any scrips ahead of your transfer? If you move to a medicated cycle, did they tell you what that would entail? I feel like estradiol, progesterone and sometimes a steroid are pretty common protocols for transfers, so I would definitely want to learn more about that and talk to doc about the rationale behind their choices if I were in your shoes.

Hoping you get a plan in place soon that you're comfortable with. Good luck! xo

hbomb513 woo hoo congrats knew it could be too soon!  I have to say I cried tears of joy as well seeing a squinter.  Had many emotions and couldn't wait for that beta.  How r u going to tell OH!  Happy almost anniversary!!

whitebarley you got a digital to turn i think thats great!!!  I know its frightening but that lil Alice is a fighter for sure!!  Remember when I was pregnant with twins my line was barely showing on the cheapies on 8dpt and it was a 3dt.  my first beta was 286 second was 786 I think and my line was never super dark so try and keep that in mind, AND in the beginning my babies were fine for weeks growing strong.  AH what about OPK are those lines super dark for u?  You should know before wasting a pregnancy test i used an opk first and since a line showed i said HEY let me give a real one a try.

fivetimesnoluck yay!! so thrilled to hear things are going well for u yay!!!!  Now what is it called that your dr thinks is causing ur MC?  I"m so nervous to do a transfer as its so hard to make normal embryos i want to make sure i test everything and everything that i could before i try again.  I keep thinking if i find it I can fix it!

Looking forward to hearing more good news from all of u!  Whos next up for US?

Today was a good day for this board!!

@whitebarley - yay for turning the digital and for the frer darkening! When are you going back for another beta??

@hbomb513 - woo-hoo! good luck at the beta tomorrow, i can't wait to hear the results!

@fivetimesnoluck - YAY! so happy that the one bean is a fighter! I bet it's reassuring to have a doctor with that specialty and that he feels confident! Are you going back soon/next week for another scan?

AFM, had some cramping today that feels more like AF cramps. VERY VERY mild, and more up in the abdomen and back than the pelvic area, but the next day or so is when AF would've been due...is there such a thing as phantom cramps while pregnant? Maybe it's just the sore back that i know is a common symptom. Do you guys think this is something i should call my nurse about, since they're mild and not really painful?

Transfer day! Getting ready to slice up the pineapple now! Did anyone else eat pineapple? Figured it can't hurt!
  • Options
I did! Good luck to you! Even though I think I'm going to have a chemical, at least she implanted, so I don't think the pineapple, the brazil nuts or the POM hurt much. :-) I would just eat one slice a day, and not more than 5 brazil nuts a day if you're going to do that.

AFM, I woke up at 3:50AM and couldn't hold it anymore, and because I'm insane, tested on all three tests. The FRER was ever so slightly darker than Tuesday evening's test, but nothing impressive. The cheapie was darker than yesterday but about the same as Tuesday's, and I did a new digital which still said Pregnant 1-2 weeks (of course). I thought I would just go for broke, ha. I don't think my beta will have dropped, but I would be shocked if it doubled, let alone reached 100. Then again, I started from such a low place that I'm not sure there would be a striking difference with such an increase. Basically, I am completely prepared for bad news but stupidly feel better about the fact that I didn't wake up to an obviously faded test.

The pros to this not working out: I can get a massage and a pedicure this holiday weekend, both things I have been denying myself. I also won't have to worry about suppositories and meds on our vacation in Europe.

Cons: This sucks, duh. And even though I know rationally having a chemical on the first go is good in that it proves I can get pregnant, of COURSE you have doubts that it will never work out fully for you. And OF COURSE you wind up on unfinished threads from 2011 where the OP is talking about how she had a chemical with her first FET and then another chemical, and then a BFN, and then a failed cycle. And I'm like, well, sh*t. That's enough internet for today. The other big con is that I imagine we will have to take this next cycle off since I doubt they will let me be on meds for a week and a half while we are traveling unmonitored. So this next cycle will have to be a rest cycle, and who the hell knows when it will end and we can try again! July? Seems like forever away.

    Hugs to everyone.

@Angelaag - FX and good luck today! Looking forward to hearing how it went! I ate pineapple, but not the core.....lol. I just couldn't bring myself to eat it (i once accidently had part of it in the past and didn't like it much) so i just cut up the flesh and it was yummy yummy!

@whitebarley - it totally sucks to be in this limbo! It's good that the lines are still getting darker! I've never heard about not being able to get a pedicure though? Do you know the reasoning behind that? It also would suck to have to wait until July....that seems so far away! But just think, next week is June, and July comes after that, so it's not *as* far away as it seems!

@hbomb513 - today is your beta, right? FX for good numbers!!

@caseyw8784 - only cause i'm crazy and read there are chemicals in the polish (although you can find safe polish) and then apparently you are supposed to avoid foot massages because there are some pressure points that can induce miscarriage? might be a load of crap, but of course i wasn't going to take any chances!
  • Options
@whitebarley - i knew about the chemicals and safe polish...but didn't know about the pressure points. *TW* now that i think about it, last year a friend of mine said she got a pedicure every day for a week to try to induce labor (her baby was 12 days late)...i never took the time to connect the dots with it...
But, sadness....pedicures are one of my favorite summertime activities!

I'm sorry I don't have better news for you all but my level barely went up - it was only at 42.2. So, honestly, those tests? Pretty freaking accurate. Poor Alice. She deserved a better trophectoderm and better placental cells. Waiting for the doctor to call so we can get some insight. I can't believe I will be "miscarrying" over Memorial Day weekend at my MIL's house. At least she's up in Newport, which is beautiful, and we will be getting out of the city. I have to be monitored every few days to make sure my levels go back down to zero, but I'm not cancelling our weekend away for this. What a f*cking rollercoaster this week has been. I really and truly hope that there is a positive takeaway from this in that my body knows how to get pregnant, and I really hope it stays pregnant with a better graded embryo. Because it was pretty awful to be pregnant for the first time and not even be able to feel happy. I know there are some of you on this board who have experienced that first hand.

Anyway, I will probably be stepping away from the boards for a while - at least until I start gearing up for my next transfer. Truly happy for you BFP ladies; I hope everything goes smoothly from here on out! You will probably see me around here.

Just heard - beta is 421!!! I started crying all over again when I heard that. I saw "pregnant" on a digital HPT this morning for the first time in my life. I'm beyond excited, happy, grateful etc.

@whitebarley I'm so sorry you're going through this instead of celebrating. I know how it feels. Try to enjoy yourself this weekend, I hope you get some peace. Thank you for all the support even though you're going through hell.

@Angelaag How was transfer?? And I ate the pineapple core too! Cut a whole core into about six pieces and ate one or two pieces a day. I also tried to keep my feet warm (that's a Chinese medicine thing) since they're usually frigid.

@caseyw8784 Is your cramping better? I think mild cramping is totally normal in early pregnancy. I read that you only need to worry if it gets severe, is in the middle (rather than on the sides) and is accompanied by bleeding.

@whitebarley - I'm so sorry about your beta. It really sucks when the tests give you a glimmer of hope just to have it crash. So sorry that you're dealing with this over the holiday weekend at your in-laws...I'm sure part of you just wants to close off the world and get cozy on the couch (TW, at least, that's how i felt when we had a CP a couple years ago...end TW) Are you talking about Newport, RI? My parents live there from May-October (they're typical new england snow birds...) and DH and I are planning on going down this weekend! It is such a beautiful city, and hopefully the weather will be nice and enough to do to keep you distracted! FX for taking care of yourself and hopefully you and your doctor will be able to hash out a plan for the next step!

@hbomb513 - congrats on your beta! I forget, did you transfer 1 or 2? FX for rising numbers when you go back for #2!
The cramping is better, thanks! There luckily hasn't been any spotting at all (knock on wood!) I kind of wish they weren't having me wait a full week between beta #2 and #3, just so i could have some reassurance that my numbers are still rising like they're supposed to! I felt the cramps again a bit ago when i was standing for a long while, so I'm thinking it's just from my back being sore. Also, this past week, I've been changing my diet and including more fiber and stuff (to avoid the inevitable constipation! :dizzy: ) so my stomach might just be adapting to healthier foods. I've also been having major food aversions and having to force myself to eat, which my body usually doesn't like. All this paranoia/anxiety/guessing sucks! lol!

Well, shit. I was really hoping this was your time, @whitebarley. I am sorry for the loss you're facing. It is such a gut punch, and while there is no good time to lose a pregnancy, being with in-laws during a weekend when you had planned on truly relaxing - that just sucks.

I honestly appreciate your ability to find the bright sides (or at least identify some) in the midst of such a stressful time. Not everyone can do that. Newport is a beautiful place and I am hopeful that you can take comfort and/or find pleasure in little things over the holiday, like that massage and a pedicure!

Stepping away is totally understandable, but I will be stalking your profile to check on you when you return and I am definitely wishing you loads of luck as you move ahead.

If you feel the need to vent/discuss/commiserate with others who have also experienced loss, the TTCAL board was my home for a long time. The women over there are fantastic. But, you do whatever is best for you. Just remember it is not unreasonable to grieve, even though some may make you feel like you "just" had a chemical. F those people.

Sending you big, big hugs. And wine. xo

@Hopeful_mom - TTCAL is the "trying to conceive after a loss" board... (@fivetimesnoluck beat me to it! ack! )

last night DH and i decided that we will tell my parents this weekend. Mainly cause, the nausea hit hard yesterday and we are visiting my parents for the long weekend and they'll will be suspicious if i don't eat or snack like i usually do. We are telling DH's parents anyways, next weekend in Cali, so at least now we're telling them around the same time. (the original plan was to tell my parents over 4th of july, cause we weren't supposed to see them until then...) I don't know why, but I'm suddenly more nervous about telling them than i was for the transfer or for the beta test!

@JESSABER0414 - yea, we were gonna wait until after the ultrasound and stuff, but then we said that we would go down this weekend and then morning sickness hit...blah. We have a book about grandparents that we will be giving them as a "belated mother's day" gift or something. for DH's family next week, we're gonna have our nieces put on shirts that say "only the best nieces get promoted to big cousin" and see how long it takes them to notice it...lol

@caseyw8784 Cure! I'm sure it'll be so exciting. I bought that shirt for my  nephews. But didn't get to use it, my sister wanted it anyway to have him wear it when it applies.  I just hope it still fits by the time we announce.
I'm out of work for the long weekend, hope to get school work done!  Ugh!
