  • Good luck to ladies today with 1st & 2nd betas!! I love seeing the spreadsheet fill up!
  • Hi everyone - sorry I've been so quiet. Yesterday was really rough. I woke up at 4AM to POAS, actually pretty positive I would get a blaring BFP given all the symptoms I had been having. Wanted to surprise John so slithered out of bed to the bathroom but the cat blew my cover, which in the end I appreciated because he knocked on the door, knowing what I was doing, and when I first looked at the tests they appeared to be BFNs and I started sobbing. So I'm glad he was there for that. But then I looked again and there were actually faint lines on both the FRER and the cheapie. But I knew this was not good news. The nurse I initially spoke to after my blood draw was actually very sweet and said that she had seen babies come out of extremely low betas - including a healthy baby boy born after a first beta of 4 (!!!). The mom even stopped progesterone initially because she was like "Well, f*ck this.". But the nurse who called with my levels was a bit more sanguine. I tested only at 8.5 yesterday, and she told me that it is almost certainly going to be a chemical, but they can't discount the possibility that a baby will come out of this, so I need to stay on my meds and come back on Tuesday for a repeat beta. I then had to head directly to the funeral, which was awfully sad, and I was crying half for my aunt and half for myself - but in the end I am so happy my dad was with us yesterday because he was uncharacteristically sweet and supportive to me. (He even kissed me on my head like 5 times and I think the last time he did that, I was like seven!) I shared my results with another girl somewhere else and she told me that her sister's beta at 10dp5dt was only 7.5 and she went on to have a healthy baby girl, so it seems there are success stories, but they are the exception and not the rule. Still, I decided to POAS again this morning on a cheapie since I am resigned to the chemical, and the line is actually darker. I was honestly expecting a BFN at this point and just wanted closure. I'm still not getting my hopes up, but I love the idea that my little girl is fighting, even if it's only going to be briefly. Picture is below: it's yesterday's FRER on top, yesterday's cheapie and then this morning's cheapie. I'm sorry that my prediction of me screwing up the good juju on this thread came true. But I was expecting a BFN or an obvious BFP - never did I think this could happen with a PGS normie. I was not prepared for this limbo.

  • Ugh, @whitebarley - I am so rooting for your little fighter. And for you. I am sorry for the limbo. It sucks in so many ways - the last thing someone on this thread needs or deserves. I am glad they didn't have you stop meds right away. The lines definitely darkened in the tests you posted.... Please keep us posted on what you hear tomorrow.

I am sure yesterday was so tough, but I am also really happy to hear that your dad offered such needed sweetness. I, too, am sending you big hugs!

  • @whitebarley I can imagine the only thing that sucks more than the TWW is what you're going through right now. I'm so sorry things are going this way for you, but I'm rooting for you as well. I know we're taught that we're the rule, but I truly hope you are an exception!

@caseyw8784 and @JESSABER0414 Looking forward to seeing doubled beta numbers on the spreadsheet!

@kaseycoco I'm sorry you saw a BFN. Good luck at your beta today, I hope it's good news!

AFM, I'm experiencing some pseudo-symptoms like incredible bloat, lower abdominal pressure, brief waves of nausea. I was so convinced I POAS Sunday morning and cried for two hours at the BFN. No matter how much I mentally steel myself, that fucking white stick affects me the same way every time. My beta isn't until Thursday, so I don't think I'll test again until that morning. I can't take the emotional trauma. You'd think I'd learned my lesson...

  • @whitebarley - I'm sorry yesterday was so rough! like the above PP, the lines are definitely darker today. I'm glad the nurse told you to keep taking meds, and all the fingers and toes are crossed that your embryo is a fierce fighter! I'm also glad that your dad was as supportive as he was! sending you all the creepy internet hugs!!

    *TW*
AFM, just got a call from my RE that today's beta is 506! I also get to lower the PIO from 2ml to 1ml! YAY! not only is it half the dose, but the prescription won't need refills as fast! I'll be going back on Tues 5/30 for a 3rd beta. They only mentioned "come in for blood" so i'm assuming that there won't be an ultrasound yet, so I guess DH and i will have to wait until we get back from California to see if there are one or two in there...
  • @caseyw8784 - wow, I am sooooo thrilled for you! :-D

@hbomb513 - i'm so sorry, love. it does sound like it was super, super early though if your beta is on thursday? it's hard but try to hold out until then. i will say the one positive of this shitty situation i'm in is that it reaffirmed for me that holding off was the right thing for me to do. if this truly is a chemical (as it probably is), i think my levels probably were higher earlier this week, so i would have seen something and then watched it fade . . . i would have had a kinipshit and not been able to function. yesterday was awful, but i guess at least it was contained misery? anyway, i am keeping my fingers crossed so hard for you.

does anyone know anything about chemicals with PGS normal embryos? should i be really worried? the things i'm reading online said that a chemical on your first go can actually be a good sign because it shows that you can get pregnant. but i don't know if that applies to normies. i thought the vast majority of chemicals was because of aneuploidy. sigh.
  • @hbomb513 Hang in there! I can totally relate and this why I didn't POAS last FET. I can't take the emotional trauma, like you said! It can feel like a lose/lose sometimes with it..and I don't think there's any way to not get distraught over those stupid sticks..thinking of you..

@caseyw8784 I'm so happy for you!!

@whitebarley I'm so truly sorry-- it just sucks so much..So my last FET ended up being CP. The thing is, when I went for in for beta, it was negative. The next week when I went in for day 3 bw, my beta was slightly elevated. I had to go back and it still was. They had me wait til it came down until they let me start meds again. But I freaked out because "what if it implanted late and then I came off meds and couldn't support it anymore??" They calmed me down and assured me it was chemical. I'm still worried about this round because what if it implants late again...but anyway- my RE sees it as a positive because implantation took place. I choose to see it as a positive thing as well..also mine were PGS normal so I have no idea!! It's the worst..I hope you have a strong little fighter in there!!

@kris031409 - how have you been feeling? have any symptoms started yet? Are you ready/excited for your U/S tomorrow? So exciting!

@hbomb513 - So sorry for the bfn. Like the others said, it is still really early, so all the fingers and toes crossed that come Thursday there'll be a different outcome!

@krenee124 - how are you doing? you're so close to your transfer day! you must be so excited/ready to be pupo!
  • caseyw8784 I'm feeling pretty good, just sore boobs and mild nausea so far, how about you?!  I have been living for tomorrow, literally, nothing else matters.  I had a blighted ovum a year ago so I'm so scared to see an empty sac again.  I wanted to wait until Friday to come in so I'd have a better chance of seeing a baby and heartbeat, but they wanted me today or tomorrow.

  • @kris031409 - i'm doing good. a little bummed that i won't get to have an ultrasound until the 2nd week of june...DH and I will be away from 6/1 to the morning of 6/7 (basically, all of week 6 lol), so unless i can get a U/S scheduled for 5/31 - the day after beta #3 - i'll guess i have to wait!
The all-day mild nausea has started, along with the "nasty smells" symptom. Today I started making chicken noodle soup from scratch, and when it came to shredding the cooked chicken, I had to run out of the room and made DH finish it for me. No sore boobs yet, but i've been tired. Have been taking 2-3 hour naps most days and still ready for bed by 9 or 10.
  • @hbomb513 sorry for the BFN, I know they are never fun. FX it's too early for you.

@whitebarley I'm sorry to hear that you're in limbo, I hope your little girl keeps fighting!

AFM I hate to bring the stats down, but I'm out this month. I POAS yesterday and saw the most stark white BFN ever. I was super bummed but not that surprised since I had the BFN earlier in the week. I spoke to my doctor today (after Beta confirmed it was negative) and she said we could do another natural FET right away, or we could do a medicated cycle. Every thing went well this cycle with ovulation and lining, so the only reason to do a medicated cycle would be to try something different. Can you ladies tell me if you did medicated or natural (I can't remember everyone's protocol!) and if you think there's any added benefit to doing medicated?

  • @kaseycoco - I'm so sorry for the BFN! that really sucks. I did a medicated cycle, but that's the standard at my RE's office. It was my first FET, so I don't really know the pros/cons of either...sorry to not be much help! :disappointed:
I'm glad that you already were able to speak to your doctor and are starting to hash out the next steps for another cycle! :creepy internet hugs!:

kaseycoco I'm so sorry for the BFN!  I also did a medicated cycle.  I will say it was longer than I expected, estrogen pills and patches for 3 1/2 weeks, then started PIO for 5 days before transfer.  So from CD1 to transfer it was a whole month.  I know with my IUIs I triggered and had good lining by CD11 or so... so a much longer cycle with the estrogen.

  • Kaseycoco - so sorry for the BFN! I did medicated as well. Not sure why, other than the RE can control the FET date versus continued monitoring. I didn't have an option with my RE. I had 3 weeks of estrogen pills and shots and suppositories 5 days before transfer
  • @kaseycoco I'm so sorry girl. Most of us know your heartbreak. Hugs to you.
I did medicated. My RE didn't even give me an option since medicated cycles have higher success rates. The cons are obviously many more drugs and a much longer cycle. I was on 28 days of BCPs before starting Lupron on 4/19. Estrogen and progesterone got added in after that for transfer on 5/15. In addition to estrogen and progesterone (3 different kinds each), I'm also taking aspirin and dexamethasone until beta. It feels like SO many meds and the cycle took forever. If it results in a BFP, I couldn't care less and I'll happily keep taking these expensive drugs. I'm happy my RE leaves as little to chance as possible.

  • @kaseycoco - I'm so sorry, girl. But don't worry, I brought the stats down before you did! So, that one's on me. As for medicated/natural, I am like the girls above. My RE really seems to only do medicated, and I think they do have higher success rates. The pills and patches and suppositories are so friggin annoying but it would be a drop in the bucket if I got a healthy BFP next time.

@hoping - it makes me feel much better that your RE was encouraged by implantation. i still really want to talk to mine. As I know that I have one of EACH of the MTHFR genes and he didn't seem to take that seriously this time around - after i asked, he said i could do baby aspirin but didn't want to do lovenox or anything like that - I am wondering if he wants to do something differently next time just to be safe. I will certainly push it.

Given that, for anyone with experience with Lovenox, can you tell me about it? Also, does anyone think it would be insane to do a hysteroscopy if this cycle completely fails (hoping for the best tomorrow but truly expecting the worst)? It's my first try but we only have two embryos of very good quality left (two Day 5 4BB boys) and I don't want to just throw one back in the oven if there could be something wrong with my lining.

@hopefulmom - my understanding is that BB's are pretty good! at least, I hope so. I don't think my RE bullshits around and he thinks they are solid. That therefore means that a BA has to be great. I am worried about my little 4BC boy from Day 6, but he is going to be our last resort (sorry, kid).

  • @whitebarley - that line def is darker! being on here and lurking so long, i have seen/heard/been warned that wondfos can be weird and they don't get as dark as one would expect them. I had a few that were about this dark and stayed like this while the frers got darker and darker. Not sure why they're weird like that...

FX that you get the beta results quickly, and FX for rising numbers!!
  • @krenee124 prayers for your transfer tomorrow and that the embies or emby sticks..
Sorry guys, ive been lurking in the May Fet as my transfer was supposed to be may 17th but back on April 27th when i got baseline and saline ultrasound done the doc found polyps and ive been waiting for my hysteroscopy to get them removed and will hopefully get to do a fet the end of june. • @whitebarley - YES! You've got a fighter in 4Alice...I had a good feeling about this one!

@kris031409 - Awesome news with the ultrasound and seeing the heartbeat!

@fivetimesnoluck - I saw on the spreadsheet that yours is tomorrow? Are you ready for it and to see if there's 1 or 2 in there? DO you have a gut feeling about how many took?

AFM, just waiting until Beta #3 that's a week from today. I guess it should've been on the 29th but the offices must be closed for Memorial Day...boo to making us wait! I wonder about what level the hcg should be by then...at this point does it still double roughly every 48 hours? I know my RE said mine were double at about a 30 hour rate between the first two tests...
Also, they told me today that they will wait to the week that we get back fro California to bring me in for an ultrasound, so I'll be waiting until June 8th or the week of June 12th...
