Re: May IUI

  • @Labluver2Awesome that you respond decent to femara, the FSH will give you an extra kick and hopefully another follicle or 2! :)

Has anyone else ovulated after the 36 hour window of the trigger shot? I triggered Wednesday morning. After my last IUI I ovulated 12 hours later...this time I'm still waiting. Guess because follicles were ready early, I worry if timing was right this time or if there's a chance I could ovulate closer to when I normally would. DH says to stop looking into things, but its hard not too :#

  • @kristimh80 I'm pretty sure I ovulated within the 36 hours. How would you know tho. I felt painful like regular ovulation cramps that I get. I still dont have AF tho so maybe I ovulated later or maybe delayed BC of the meds. My husband said he was going to take my google app away lol.
  • @Labluver2 Last time I knew because it was painful and I could barely walk and had to sit down. I know some people don't feel ovulation, so guess I expected to feel things since I did last time. I told myself I wouldn't symptom check, but I just wanna know it happened! lol

  • @kristimh80 I normally feel ovulation as well. That's why I'm pretty sure I ovulated around the time of my IUI I triggered on a wed and by Thursday I was feeling a little worse than normal ovulation pain. I'm taking my own advice this time around I'm just going to relax this was my first Iui and every symptom I googled and I drove myself crazy I managed to only poas once at day 12 next time I'm waiting BC it just made it worse. I never understood how emotional and draining this could be and to make it worse people are getting pregnant left and right like I wish it could be that easy. I had someone say I guess you didnt want kids when I say I do they told me your too old now. Sorry I guess I needed to vent. My point just try to relax and if its meant to be it will be. Fx for you!!!
  • @Labluver2 You're so right!!! I've been so relaxed during the whole process until now, so I'm going to get over it! lol I did POAS to make sure the HCG really was present just to calm the thoughts in my head. My DH has already preached how last time I had all the symptoms and didn't work, so needed to get over it. I had some cramps yesterday, but chalked them up to post IUI discomfort, so who knows! lol Thanks for listening and helping...I really appreciate it!

@kristimh80. I had horrible cramping last month right around the 36 hour mark. Started on my way to the doctors office to get my IUI done. Plus I had cramping for about two day after. Not bad but some. This time nothing. I also had bad cramps while I was on Femara.  This time nothing. I though for sure I wasn't going to have any follicles since last time I only had 1 and I had bad cramps. This time I had two large ones and a smaller third and no cramps. I guess it just depends.  My doctors orders were nothing but positive thoughts for the next two weeks...I'm trying my best :)
  • @J1006 Oh so glad I'm not alone! Just like you, last time with only 1 main follicle, I was in so much pain at the 36 hr mark too. Now with 4 follicles, I just knew it would be a lot worse, but nothing! I get a little crampy here and there but nothing crazy. I didn't do Femara this time and have read people say they got cramps when on it before ovulation.  My Dr was the same, super happy and excited for this cycle. How bad is it that we actually want to be pain! lol

  • Hello everyone! Sorry I have been MIA for over a week. Met with my RE and we began this cycle. I will be cycle day 9 on Monday and will go in for u/s and blood work. Hoping for good follicles on the left side so my iui won't be cancelled again. They upped my gonal-f dose and I'm on femara again. TW- it has been a rough couple of weeks - literally 12 of my friends and family have announced they are pregnant. They all seem to be due in November when I would have been due if it hadn't ended in a CP. I also just had to spend a whole week with 2 pregnant family members and it was tough. I hope that this cycle works for me. End TW Good luck to everyone this month!
  • @kristimh80 - I'm sure you remember me saying earlier this week I was worried I didn't ovulate until 3 days after my trigger shot. I felt some pretty intense pain for a few minutes on the side my follicle was on Sunday morning (I triggered Thurs, IUI Fri am). I also tested Friday before my IUI to see if the trigger was in my system and it was. This can definitely be a mind game! Maybe it just varies cycle to cycle? I hope your TWW goes by quickly and you have already ovulated!

@bpietronicco - I hope you respond well to the meds and can do an IUI this cycle. I'm so sorry about your CP, and that there have been so many pregnancy announcements around you in such a short time. It's definitely hard.

@bpietronicco Welcome back! So sorry for everything you've had to go thur lately!!

@dmo1371 Thanks for reminding me!! My natural ovulation day would be tomorrow (Sunday), maybe the same thing is going on with me too being everything was ready early. Last time my pain was intense and now its slight cramping here and there. Supposed to start progesterone Sunday, but going to wait and see now.

@Irisheyes81 Exciting!! I'm good...no major cramping yet. Hoping something happens soon, or maybe this cycle just isn't a painful one. Last cycle was the only one I've ever felt ovulation, so who knows! :)

  • @Labluver2 so sorry about the BFN. It's so tough. I'm glad you got to cuddle with your puppies! What kind of doggies do you have?

AFM - 6dpiui. I'm less frantic this two week wait which is interesting considering if this doesn't work we are moving to IVF. I got notification this weekend that insurance approved my IVF and will cover 50%. I have to pay $4,117.88 (patient responsibility) before the treatment. If feels like IVF will have so much more pressure since we are paying so much.

Let's just hope I am pregnant now.

  • @JaeJayStark I actually have 6 dogs 2 Shetland sheepdogs I got from a reputable breeder, a lab pointer mix, lab/husky mix,chihuahua/jack/dauch mix and a pit/boxer mix all rescues.

AFM AF finally showed yesterday so I have my baseline blood work and ultrasound tomorrow to hopefully start IUI #2. Is it better to take a break or do them back to back. I'm so afraid if IUI doesn't work we will have no option than to so ivf and we dont have that money right now or time to wait and get it. Fx and praying IUI works we discussed doing 6 cycles if our RE is OK with it. I'm going to try and relax more this cycle if its meant to happen it will.
  • @Labluver2 Love hearing about your dogs! I have 4, 2 aussies and 2 long haired doxies. I keep seeing puppies and tell my husband...what's 1 more? lol

How many IUI's have you done? I think it all depends on the Dr how many you should do, but I've read that many do 6. I'm considering taking a break after this cycle...if I can. I have a feeling I'll be wondering "what if" the whole time.

  • @kristimh80 I hope your IUI went well!  I can't help second-guessing my O date for the IUIs either, which is one of the reasons I stopped temping, haha.  It was giving me agita.

@labluver2 I'm so sorry about the BFN! I really hope this next cycle works for you!  I'm also very sorry that someone said that you must not have wanted kids, and then that you were too old.  Wow.  That takes a lot of nerve and is just really, really rude!  What do they know?  Nothing! :)

@bpietronicco Welcome back!  I also hope this cycle goes much better for you!  FX!

@JaeJayStark I'm also 6DPIUI and I feel the same way.  I should just have "Que Sera Sera" playing all the time, because that's my attitude this TWW.  It's a nice change.  I'm really glad to hear about the insurance coverage for IVF for you!  It's still a big amount, but it's great that you get some coverage.  :)
  • J1006J1006 member
@Labluver2. I was considering taking a break between my last IUI and this IUI, but we decided against it. My doctor leaves it up to me. There's not harm in doing them back to back, but I don't think there is a benefit either.  My doctor said for our situation she will do four. If it doesn't work with four, odds are IUI won't work.

@JaeJayStark. That's awesome that you have 50% coverage, but let's hope you don't need to use it. We just found out that there was a change to our insurance and they will cover infertility treatments and testing. We were so confused as to why they were covering my ultrasounds and IUI.  Hopefully if we have to go the IVF route they will actually cover some of that too.
  • @Labluver2 & @kristimh80 I love all the animals! I have 5 pets. 2 dogs - a Bearded Collie and a Herding mutt (Australian Cattle Dog, Aussie, Sheltie, Border mix) 2 cat - a tuxedo and a tortoiseshell, and a horse - Percheron/Quarter horse.

@Bababatty that's super cool we are on the same day! I'm glad you are feeling calm about it. I think I will POAS on Saturday (11 dpiui) and I'm sure that is when I will start being a nutter. I really want to make it that far! Normally I get to 8dpiui but that is too early!

@J1006 That's awesome that you are getting more coverage! Fantastic news!

I'm hoping this IUI is the one but if its not we would be doing treatments during our vacation so I was thinking of taking that cycle off try naturally and me and my husband take an actual vacation. I really want to go to Salem and Plymouth mass. It would give me a much needed break and if this IUI turns out then we will go anyway!!!

I just came from the doctors office. Looks like my follies are all over. I have three in total. One is a gigantic 33mm on the left, one is 15mm on the left and one 16mm on the right. Doctor wanted to wait one more day to do the trigger, but I could ovulate on my own before then. I've read somewhere when the follie is too big its also not good. My husband is coming with me tomorrow in case we need to do iui without trigger...aghh so stressful.
  • @Labluver2 Wow you had a beardie? So cool! Hardly anyone knows what they are.

Ilky "Monitored Clomid cycles using follicle ultrasound scans and blood hormone levels. When follicle scans are used with Clomid along with an HCG injection, the ideal follicle size for getting mature eggs is about 18 to 30 mm diameter at the time of the hCG injection."  www.advancedfertility.com/clomid-treatment.htm

Maybe they want you to wait a day so that the 16 has a chance to get to 18mm?

@JaeJayStark yes, thats what he said. He wants other two to grow. I'm going to see my acupuncturist today as he claims he can grow a particular follicle. We'll see. I hope I wont ovulate on my own today and that the over mature follie wont ruin my chances. :(

@Ilky I'm thinking what JaeJayStark said, perhaps they are wanting your smaller ones to catch up and be at a mature stage so you have better chances. Hopefully by tomorrow, the smaller ones can be around an 18. Did they do bloodwork today? Hopefully they did so they can check LH and hormone levels to know if there is a chance of ovulation before then.

  • I went in today for cycle day 3 bw and ultrasound I had a little cyst but he wasn't to concerned about it. I start femera tonight I think she said will confirm when she calls with my blood results. I will then start gonal-f on Sunday night. I'm feeling more confident this cycle I'm praying really hard. We found out that the gonal-f and ovidrel is covered by our insurance. We paid 100 for it at the other re and they kept saying we weren't covered and we never used it.
  • @labluver2 That's awesome news!!! I'm exicted your getting to injectables this time around, they made a huge difference for me. So lucky your insurance helps pay for it too! I cringed the last cycle when they told me my damage lol

@kristimh80 no blood test was done. I hope I wont ovulate until the time is right for the other two.

@JaeJayStark I did have a baseline on CD4 and I just had a bunch of small follicles, no cyst. I haven't been using OPKs maybe I should have so I could know. I don't know what the doctor will say, but if I ovulate today we'll have to have intercourse so we don't miss our chance (not that it worked for the last years).

I'm trying to let everything go and just believe that when the time is right and when God wills, I will have a child. Not before then. Last week I was a wreck and I don't want it to repeat again.
  • @Ilky Sending lots of positive vibes your way! That's the best way to look at things, so try not too get wrapped up in everything. I'm sure the doctor has a plan and know whey they are doing. :)

  • @Ilky - FX the other two follies mature and you don't ovulate before you trigger tomorrow!

@Labluver2 - yay for insurance covering those meds! Hopefully you'll respond well and this will be your cycle!

  • So my blood work came back and they said everything looked good so I took the femera starting last night. Does anyone know what the numbers mean? Estrogen was 36, progesterone was 0.7 and FSH was 6. Everything is still Greek to me but as long as they keep letting me move forward they dont see concerned.
  • I have no idea! My dr usually never tells me my #'s, which is probably a good thing lol I'm sure you are good to go if they say you are :)

  • I don't really know either @Labluver2. The only CD 3 labs I had were my initial ones with the RE. He doesn't order them every month. All I remember is that my LH was 3x higher than my FSH (thanks pcos). From what the website says where my labs were drawn those numbers look ok. I think you're good if your doc says so :)

  • @Labluver2 - I am never told my numbers so I'm not sure either! AFM- I am CD11 and I have two follicles growing on the left that are around 13! I haven ever had the second one get past 11 before! I am waiting on confirmation from the nurse but I am getting more hopeful! I started gonal-f injections last night so fingers crossed!!!

Same here...they draw blood every ultrasound but never seem extra cautious or say much unless it's my last time for bloodwork before IUI when making sure I won't ovulate beforehand.

@bpietronicco That's awesome!!! The gonal-f will help give them and extra kick! So sounds like you're going to have a really good cycle <3

On a side note...started back taking probiotics last night and it made a huge difference this morning! Still a little bloated but the kanagroo pooch went down, so thought I'd throw it out there if anyone else is feeling extra bloated.  :)

  • @kristimh80 @dmo1371 thanks thats what I'm figuring if they weren't normal they would tell me. I just kinda wanted to understand but maybe its best I don't know lol.

So, I went in today again and the head nurse said the smaller ones grew about 2mm since yesterday, as well as the cyst (it's now about 35mm:( ) It hurts, but the nurse said it wont cause me to ovulate before the other ones are ready. I'm going tomorrow for the trigger shot and Friday & Saturday IUIs. By the time I ovulate (thinking Friday), my little ones will be around 20 and 21mm.
  • @Ilky Yay! That's great news!!! Sorry you're dealing with a petsky cyst, but least it's not going to affect your 2 other follicles. I'm excited, you're only a week behind me. :)
