@curlyq423 your post reminded me of my FFFC: of course, I first and foremost want a healthy baby. But I have a strong preference about the sex. I'll give you a hint: I'm terrified of little boys. Lol.

It's illegal to ride on the sidewalk in many cities, and it's actually more dangerous. You're more likely to get hit by someone pulling/backing out of a driveway because they're not expecting or looking for a bicyclist on the sidewalk.
It's your responsibility as a cyclist to be aware also. Which is easier to do when you're not in with traffic
I have a major beef with people who ride in the road but don't abide by the rules of the road. There is a guy in our neighborhood that doesn't think the 4 way stop applies to him. He's seriously asking for someone to hit him.
ETA: fortunately we live in a fitness friendly area, so they are putting in bike lanes whenever they redo roads that have the space to allow for them. We also have really wide walking paths in place of some sidewalks. I'm talking the width of a traffic lane, so it's plenty of room for bicycles too. They need to be utilized when available instead of causing issues with traffic because they can't follow the rules of the road
I think all streets should have bike lanes. A lot of ours do down here and it's so much nicer
Yes! This is actually what I do for a living... advocate for cities to invest in bike lanes/paths/safer streets that make it more convenient for people to get around however they choose, whether it's walking or biking or driving. So I tend to get fired up about it.
@beezeemarie Don't be terrified, haha! We wanted a boy first and had one and he's so sweet. He's definitely a daddy's boy, but there's nothing sweeter than him coming up to me and grabbing my face and saying "I wuv you, mommy!" Then planting a big one on me. I'll leave the sec talk to my husband down the road! I just want a girl to dress up. Honestly, I want these to be two girls I can dress up in matching outfits and bows and dresses and tutus....but at least one girl will do
@curlyq423@beezeemarie same. We struggled to stay pregnant this go around, so we're obviously just thrilled to be at this point. But we would LOVE for DS to have a brother so he has someone to play with since his sisters like to do "girl stuff" all the time, leaving him lonely. So we would be a little bummed if this is another girl
I'm a little nervous for the a/s after reading all these stories about genetic testing being wrong! lol I'd be thrilled with a boy, we just have gotten really used to the idea of a girl the past 8 weeks
i think it is fine/natural to have a preference of a certain sex, if you got to pick. but i get irritated when people get all worked up about it and it is that big of a deal. like what if the boy doesnt like sports? or the girl is a tomboy? there are no guarantees i think you just get what you get and that is what your family is meant to be.

I know, I know. I'm probably having a boy just because I feel that way. MIL has been telling me a bunch of stories about how sweet DH was as a little boy, and he's still so sweet on her now (in a not creepy or annoying way), so I'm starting to come around to it. Before DD, I pictured myself as a boy mom. But now that I have her, I just want a clone of her, lol. It's just a fear of the unknown. Of course, I could end up with a girl who is completely different than DD anyways.
October 2017 June Siggy Challenge -- "You Had One Job!"
DH really wants a boy. He loves DD, of course, but he wants a left handed boy who will be a professional baseball player. Not asking too much now is he?? (Running joke between us) I broke down and cried last night saying I want a girl because I don't want to deal with finding boy clothes. I blame hormones, because I truly don't have a preference ... ok that's a lie, I'd love another girl but won't be upset if it's a boy.

OMG that was me yesterday. She got to the butt part and i was here sweating cause i couldnt see his penis. The fact that she really was not much of a talker, she would almost whisper one word to answer litteraly each one of my questions, and only found his penis 15 mins after she told me shed show me did NIT help. And then fianly there it waaaaas. I just know i hadnt beenTHIS excited about a penis other than Hs in a loooong time lol. B
I always pictured myself having a little girl first, and then along came DS. So I totally understand the preference, but I can say that little boys RULE!
@riverrainez when I lived in Oregon I noticed it is so much more bike friendly than other places. Bikes didn't bother me so much there since so many roads were built for it. Though when I worked downtown one of my coworkers was hit by a car on his bike on his way to work....so it's not perfect. My point is, where I live now it's notocibly less bike friendly and they're much more annoying to me as a result. I'm totally guilty of just wishing they could ride on sidewalks but I see why that's dangerous.
FFFC: I love country music. It's really all I listen to in the car. But I wouldn't be able to tell you one artist from another. All of those names sound familiar but I couldn't assign them to any songs if my life depended on it.
I honestly was terrified of having a girl. Mostly because i believe in karma, and i was ssssssuch a bad chil/teenager/young adult that i thought if ever im having a girl OF COURSE she'll make me go through all the things i did to my parents, despite all the efforts and time they put in raising me good. Nuh-uh. I am not having a mini me. Ill die from it lol. (irrational(but not that much) fear if you will).
And i remember an old taxi sriver once told me : if you have a boy, you just gotta watch him. If you have a girl, you have to watch aaaaall the boys. Lol That contributed to my stupid fears.
FFFC: however, I could never get on board with the Dave Mathews Band
No. Way. I love DMB. Seen him at the Gorge 4 times - went to college only 45 minutes from there. If I weren't pregnant over Labor Day weekend we'd go this year. This was also DD's first concert - kids under 6 are free at the Gorge!
I still love you though, because of your JJ comment. Also amazing at the Gorge!
i think there are fears either way for a boy or girl. but once you have them. everything changes. those fears (mostly) go away. and you cannot picture anything else. i always wanted boys. i never had a desire for girls. now i cannot imagine my life without pink and barbies.
I know you re right @carries2018. I just want a child basicly. Girl or boy, ill give them all my love thats for sure. Its just fun to laugh at those fears once you ve overcame them im sure. And im sincerely hoping ill have both, girl and boy...❤️
Someone on my FB with two boys posted an article about enjoying having boys and not regretting a life without a girl. Her comment on it was something to the effect of, "I don't think I'll miss having girls, but I hope my daughters in law are as awesome as I am one day and let me in the delivery room to witness my grandchildren being born just like I let my mother and MIL."
Nope. Chalk me up to the worst daughter/daughter in law ever then, because the only person I wanted in my room was DH.
It made me think though, who would I want in the room with me if DH, for some reason, couldn't be there.
Finally decided I'd go it alone. Love you, mom, but I'll see you when I'm done.

mostly everyone wants "one of each" and i am little bias. but i am so glad my first two were the same sex. i don't have a brother so i dont know what that bond looks like. but i am glad they have a sister, like i do.

I'm genuinely good either way. I have a brother and I'd like DH to have a son. But at the same time, I have tons of girl friends/family that have sisters and their friendship bond is amazing to watch.
I also think it's an instance where being team green comes in handy - when the baby gets here, you have no time to be disappointed either way because you're just so excited for baby to be here

Obviously I'll be thrilled with whatever we are having. Before we found out it was twins I kept going back and forth between a boy and a girl. A girl so I could buy all the cute girly things and a boy so my son would grow up with a little boy (and we already had boy stuff). However, when we found out there's two, I really started hoping for a girl. I know regardless of what we have, when they get here, it will be so exciting because they will be ours and it will make our family complete.

This. DH and I both grew up in families with one of each, and both wish we could have had a sibling of the same sex. I was always (still am) a little jealous of my friends who have close relationships with their sisters. So I think this is why I'm partial to having another girl.
DH always used to say he wanted one of each, but now that we have DD he's a total girl dad, and he often talks about how he doesn't need a boy. Anything he'd want to do with a son, he can do with a daughter. I love that he feels that way, because a lot of the men I know have strong opinions about wanting a son to do "man things" with.
edited to fix words.

D was slightly disappointed this one is a boy haha. he likes being a girl dad. i mean obviously we are happy and its new. but everyone was liek ZOMG YOUR H MUST BE SO HAPPY! and he is like i guess? haha
but seriously i have an irrational fear of having a hermaphrodite. not that anything is wrong with that. but i am scared i will pick the wrong organs to keep. so whenever i am told boy/girl. i am just relieved it is ONE of them.

This just made me snort laugh.
I will try and convince DH to be team green on the next one for that exact reason @natleilynn
@natleilynn I would never, ever let my MIL in the delivery room. For one, we don't have a close enough relationship for that and second, she threw up and then passed out when she saw the gunky, bloody baby when she was in the room with SIL for her first csection. I did let my mom in for the last one only and this time will be back to just me and dh. But if dh somehow isn't there, I would have my mom. That's my only option otherwise I would go it alone
