@jessafishy totally agree. I'm not someone who would flame a person for buying from a breeder. HOWEVER. I do side-eye people who spend like 3000+ to make sure they have the just right color coat/are from somewhere fancy/insert reason here, unless you're going to like show the dog or something.
I feel very strongly about rescuing only. My parents do the purebred thing and I love their dogs but I hate the idea. There are so many unwanted good boys out there that need good homes! As for behavioral issues, I got my older one when he was 2 and he had been living on the streets in Tijuana so there are definitely lingering behavioral issues there (he's a teddy bear with family but he'll go for the jugular on anyone who he thinks is in the house without permission). But our little one we got when he was only 6 months so there wasn't too much trauma there. Our next one we will probably try to get even younger by putting ourselves on a list for any puppies born at the shelter, just because DH has never had a really young puppy and likes the idea.
Our kids will not be getting participation awards. This has been decided between dh and I for years. We're also the type that make our kids learn for themselves when they don't listen to us. Apparently that's not the "in thing" because I feel like my daughter's teachers have all been the coddling type and it doesnt sit well with us
Dd1 lost her folder last year because she didn't put it away for the 18362529 time. Told her she had to find it otherwise she was going to get in trouble at school. What did her teacher do? Told her if she didn't have one the next day, she would go out and buy her one. Teacher never emailed me asking what was up. We were pissed.

This. If you want to go to a breeder, you do you. It's just not my jam.
June 2017 Siggy Challenge: "You had one job to do!"
@migdala we rescued both of ours - one we know nothing about, she was found wandering around a parking lot. The other one we know for a fact was abused and it took us YEARS to get her to a place where she wasn't a neurological hot mess. This dog would flip out over trash bins sitting at the end of driveways. She was abused by little kids (throwing stuff at her, the owners never let her inside, barely fed her, etc) so people told us she'd never be good around kids.
She's still a little nutty but the sweetest, most loving dog ever who thinks DD hung the moon. She knows we saved her life and you can just tell she's eternally grateful for it.
My first cat growing up was a purebred my parents bought, the rest of our pets have been strays/rescue. There was no comparison in them - the rescued animals know what you've done for them. I'm not saying purebreds aren't loving creatures (my neighbor has a bulldog that I just adore and is the sweetest). I'm just saying the rescued animals have this whole other level of love and appreciation because they know you saved them.

its ok to do this for a gender of the dog right? #askingforafriend
I had a hashtag for my bachelorette party and I still giggle thinking of it. I'd share but it involves my last name and #strangerdanger
eta: I figured out a somewhat anonymous way to share. My new last name is also a euphemism for penis, so something like "Johnson" so it was: #isawajohnsoninvegas
UO or FFTC? I can't stand my dogs 95% of the time. They used to be my babies, but now that I have DD, everything they do drives me insane. I'm still nice to them though (they're spoiled) and at least I feel guilty about not liking them.

I'm not sure where this will lead, I could be a heartless, cheap asshole. But I don't think the people who hand you your carryout orders at restaurants need to be tipped. I will tip the people who do carside to go since they have to come out to you in all weather conditions, go back in and come back out. But when I go to like, Olive Garden and some chick comes out to tell me the bag sitting in front of me is mine and hands me a slip to sign, I'm not tipping.

I still love my pets but I definitely have very little patience left over for them right now. If my cat comes and tries to wallow all over me I usually am like "get the eff off me". I'm just touched out.

Sooooo at one point I was where you are. Then I spent a summer being that person and I changed my tune.
Even when it's a pick up order - someone has to take your order, put it in to the kitchen, make sure it's cooked the way requested, make sure it's packaged properly, etc. It's just as much work as a regular waitress (aside from refills) but you get none of the credit monetarily.
That being said, I didn't side eye people who *didn't* tip me because I understood....I was that person and I didn't know what all went into it. The only time I got annoyed was when it was a huge $300 order and they didn't tip a dime. Those things took up so much of my time and I literally got nothing in return for it except $2.13 an hour.

I tip 20% everywhere and all the time, even for carryout. I figure it gets split among servers and kitchen staff in most places, and people are still doing work to take your order, prepare it, package it, etc.
@jessafishy yea, I definitely still love them, I just really don't like them. I'll be devastated when they die, and I'd never be willing to give them away or anything. They just drive me nuts.
October 2017 June Siggy Challenge -- "You Had One Job!"
@carries2018 I still don't get the side eyeing of the pregnant belly thing, lol. I am growing a baby in there it took me almost 2 years to conceive. I like feeling close to her!
I can't stand my dog. I absolutely adored her when we first adopted her, she was my dog and snuggled with me all the time. But then she started being a bitch towards my kids and peeing on my floor even after I had just let her outside. So that's loving feelings gone and I'm done. She is better towards the kids after we started having them feed her, but she nipped at DS last night and I have too much anxiety letting the kids be around her alone. It's so much stress and anxiety that I really don't need or have time for and dh just isn't listening to me on it.
@Brambles23 Awe that is basically my dream! Give me all the kittens,!
@bluejeanbabi05 I touch my belly a lot too but only when I'm at home and it's me and DH. I know as my belly gets bigger I'll do it in public too. But hey, it's my baby and it's in my belly and I can't hold them yet! Let me rub my belly!
Every time I've gone to a wedding and they've had a hashtag nobody ever uses it. Maybe a handful of people but it just seems like a waste of time to me.
Oh snap. I totally have a hashtag i use for DD!! FFFC! It makes it easier when i dont want to scroll through all of my IG when i want to stalk her baby pics.. I know this is putting me on a post-it some where.
We are big on animal adoption too. Both cats were adopted as kittens but we don't know the backstory. Suede (our Russian Blue) has eating/anxiety issues, and the vets think it stems from being taken away from his mom too young. The first year we had him, he would not stop eating, and actually ate my shoe and had to have emergency gastrointestinal surgery. The surgeon found part of a christmas card in there too and saved it. Scooby (pittopotamus/lab/kangaroo mix) was found abandoned and tied up in a vacant back yard in Austin, and is the sweetest little man. Otis is our latest adoption, and I actually met him while photographing for a rescue. He is 10ish, and I fell in love with him and had to go back and get him. He has been adopted and surrendered 3 times, and has such an old soul. All 3 surrenders for him were ridiculous. The first one was because he ate the garbage, which is a simple fix (he has never done that to us). The second surrender was because the couple didn't like that he shed, so they wouldn't let him in the house (Houston heat is dangerous in the summer with no shade), and he kept escaping, probably out of boredom. The 3rd surrender was because the couple was getting divorced, and neither wanted to keep him. It took him a while to get completely comfortable with us, and I don't blame him, because i'm sure it hurts to become attached to a family and then be given up, over and over. He is with us for good, and is seriously a goofy old man. I know this isn't an animal thread, but here are our pooches and I just love them! *Sophie is the black border collie/retriever mix...she's the mom of the house.

Wow you ladies are up and at 'em this morning! I can't remember who all to tag for these, but here are my thoughts.
+1 to not having a babymoon. I want to get shwasted on the beach with my DH, not sit around sober feeling like a whale on vacation. I'm going to go on a vacation after having the baby
I'm all about rescuing dogs if possible. With our current two dogs, one was bought on Craigslist and the other was dumped in front of our house. We found a home for her brother, and kept her.
Participation trophies are dumb, unless it's a really big event. Like if you made Nationals, I'm okay with a participation trophy or medal because you had to do something awesome to get there. But just for being on a team? Noooo.
I never understood why pregnant women touched their bellies so much. Until I got pregnant! Now I love to touch it. And I'm sure that will only increase as the belly gets bigger.
I love wedding hashtags for the creativity and the ease of finding pictures. But I don't really understand them for kids.
i dont have the instagram or chatsnaps. so this could be a reason for my hashtag despise. but if you must. lets limit the hashtags. #therearetoomanytoread #idontknowwhattheymean #whatareyoutalkingabout #wherearethespaces #whoclicksonthese #sometimesifeelliketheyaresovagueyouwillgeteveryoneunderthesunspictures #kidsthesedays
I think my problem with the kiddo hashtags is that it will never end. I mean, the wedding hashtags come along at some point during the engagement and last through the wedding. So maybe a year or two, tops usually.
I have a friend with two kids and separate hashtags (yes, plural for each kid) and I don't even love tit her instagram stuff anymore because I have an irrational rage towards too many hashtags in one post.

So I thought a baby moon was just a vacation while pregnant? We are doing that next week and I've been referring to it as that. Of course it would be more fun if I could drink though, because we usually go to all the distillery tours and pubs while on vacation. Last time we went to Portland there was an old haunted distillery that we went to and it was pretty cool! I think it used to be a mental hospital.

I mentioned to a friend this week (one with no kiddos, btw) that I think I would rather wait and do an after-baby-moon so I could have a drink. She kind of side eyed me and asked if I'd be okay with leaving the baby that soon. Then was like, "well, I guess the second one is different."
Uh huh. Talk to me when you have kids. See how many quiet date nights you get. I'm not saying we'll fly off to Tahiti for 3 weeks. I'm saying we might go to the beach or the mountains for a weekend, that's all. Have some wine.

If you cut down a nice, giant old tree just because, you're a jerk. Neighbors cut down this fantasticly huge tree last weekend. No reason except they don't like the whirly birds. Well, I don't like that either from our trees, but it's less than a month of dealing with them, suck it up.
No, I'm not a tree hugger. Scouts honor. I just love how "settled" and cozy our neighborhood looks with all these big trees lining the street.
