@RainyDays86 I have heard of uneven swelling and actually it's more common on the right I believe. It's *probably* nothing but especially with being post-op I would just give them a call.
@RainyDays86@llenadevida900@mcvgal Thanks, ladies. I think I'm just having a hard time because I only have a few close friends to begin with, and a couple of them live elsewhere. I don't really do regular get-togethers like brunch or happy hour currently. I just don't have anyone in my life to commiserate with...I can tell they kind of tune out when I go into baby territory. I think it would be really helpful to have a mom friend or two that I can get together with, but I'm so bad at putting myself out there to make new friends. And I don't really like large group things, so I feel like I'm going to have to go to those and try to pick out a few women who seem to want to hang out more one-on-one. It's basically dating, and I'm not looking forward to that again.
@RainyDays86 I had /have swelling mostly on my left foot and ankle, I ended up checking in with my Dr who ended up not being concerned at all, never hurts to call in though for a quick opinion!
@starphish18 big organized groups intimidate me too. I lucked out and it turns out our neighborhood has a ton of kids so once my toddler was old enough to play outside more I got to know the other moms watching kids on the street.
You could do something similar with parks or walking trails. Once I was out of the first few crazy weeks I liked taking baby out on walks on the greenway and you definitely start to see regulars out there with strollers and you could more or less mom date them lol.
@RainyDays86 yeah uneven swelling post op gets the side eye. I trend puffier on the left and apparently it's ok for me but when you have some risk factors I would go in if you can swing it.
@starphish18 I'm sorry you're having a hard time. I'm kinda in the same boat, but most of my friends have kids who are older so I've always gone to them to work around their kid's activities. I'm stressed that now that my life is changing we'll never see each other. I'm crazy shy around people I don't know well so the thought of having to make a new group of friends is really hard. I connected with a few of the moms in my prenatal class, but you're right about it feeling like dating! I don't want to come on too strong, but I feel like if someone doesn't initiate something nothing will happen and then I'll have to start over again with a new group. Ugh. Anyways, all that to say you're not alone, and I hope you're able to find other moms like you.
@starphish18 I'm the last one in my friend groups to have a kid so I was always the one planning girls weekends and having them to my house as we didn't have kids and it's large enough to hold everyone. I also don't live near any friends or family so trying to find new ones sucks. Can our bump group just live close to each other and hang out together???
Edited bc I've also swelled a couple times mainly on my right side. Twice with my right hand and once with my right foot. I think mine is heat induced as it only happens when I'm hot. Luckily living in the Midwest it's been pretty cold and I haven't had to deal with the heat yet but wow was that uncomfortable.

Fun fact: with DD's bmb once we moved to FB we started having meet ups based on location and last year we had a big meet up in Las Vegas. Pretty awesome to be able to meet the women behind the screen.

I'm in a Facebook group for moms diagnosed with cancer during pregnancy or breastfeeding and they're doing a big meetup in Vegas this summer. Timing doesn't work for me since I'll have a two-month-old and will be going through chemo but I am so jealous, mostly because they're renting the most amazing house with a HUGE lagoon-like pool with a water slide.
All this to say I would love to some day do a May 17 meetup, especially if we can get a huge house with a big pool. And not invite our kids.
@vrj0522 thats so awesome! My s14 just syarted talking about a big meetup like that but a lot of us just had 2nd+ babies or are pregnant so were putting it on hold for now. Some are planning a decent sized meetup somewhere in or near nyc area. I have met a few moms individually and its always so awesome
