@Louise_Belcher I'm so sorry about your news. I hope tomorrow's phone call is helpful. It sounds like DH is being supportive so that's good. Sorry you're in this tough position! Thinking about you!
I had an NST today. Picked up a few cx but nothing to worry about. Little dude was great otherwise.
Tuesday I have my OB appointment, expecting the GBS swab to be done. I'll be seeing the OB weekly now. Then I have a growth scan at the hospital because I'm measuring a couple weeks behind, same as I did with DD.
Thursday I have another NST. Yes, I am having 2x a week until I deliver. Yay for AMA and a history of precipitous labor.
And since mobile pics work again, here's an xp of DD doing as I do during today's NST.
It’s not that I don’t like you, it’s that I don’t know you. Stranger Danger.
@Louise_Belcher What a horrible position and worse choices! Hopefully hematology will get their butt in gear and have some idea of how to bump those platelets up!
@Louise_Belcher sorry LO is still turned. And so so frustrating about your platelet counts. It's sucks that they are still dropping. That hematologist needs to get in gear asap!
@jayandaplus and @nda_roxybabe (and whomever else chimed in, sorry can't remember!) the spotting was really only when I wiped, nothing showed up on the liner. And nothing since last night! so guessing it was just from the check but I'll keep an eye on everything and if it changes I'll give my de a call.

@Louise_Belcher I'm so sorry things are so up in the air and that baby is so comfy in the wrong position! I hope crying into a McFlurry made you feel a little better. I'll cross all my fingers and toes that the OB has some options for you when you talk next!
Baby is still estimated 5.5lbs and has dropped some. You don't say....and here I thought I was feeling nothing...On the plus (?) side, he expects some dilation next week, so yay!
I scheduled my induction today. Today I was at 1 1/2cm, which my OB says isn't enough to go straight to pitocin. I'll go in Monday to have a foley bulb placed and then I'll go home. I'll check in to the hospital on Tuesday for induction. Has anyone done a "take home" foley? I've never heard of it being an out patient option. It seems a bit awkward. I'm hoping I'll have progressed a bit more by then and won't need it. On the plus side, 1 1/2 cm at 38 wks is way better than my last pregnancy when I didn't hit 1 1/2 cm until I was mid-induction at almost 41 wks.
@NotAPlaya-JustCrushAlot I had my foley in the hospital because of BP but I remember the doc said it should fall out within 9-12 hours and when it does I'll be 4cm so it's a pretty quick deal. If you're home it means nurses won't be tugging the string and taping it tight to your thigh which should be nice.
@WombThereItIs Yes. She said something about having to come in within so much time once it falls out. Not really looking forward to hanging out around the house with it hanging out of me either. But it is what it is. Maybe this kid will come perfectly time after my parents' arrival on Saturday and my mani-pedi but before the need for for the foley. One can hope, right?
@NotAPlaya-JustCrushAlot you just reminded me of my internal struggle over when to get my nails done! Priorities . I'm thinking like 38 weeks.... but then I'll risk them being grown out or chipped if I go 41 weeks! Talk about first world problems
@NotAPlaya-JustCrushAlot you just reminded me of my internal struggle over when to get my nails done! Priorities . I'm thinking like 38 weeks.... but then I'll risk them being grown out or chipped if I go 41 weeks! Talk about first world problems
I decided to get mine done at 37.5 weeks since gel normally lasts me a good 3-4 weeks and I had an event or something. Anyways, they're growing SO crazy fast they didn't hardly last a week! I just got them done again on Saturday at 39 weeks. Hope they last till baby gets here...
I had my last OB appointment today! We went over the induction schedule for next week and what to expect. I'm officially scheduled for May 10th! I'll have another NST before then to continue monitoring but so far so good. I didn't get a cervical check because I didn't feel like getting undressed and I'm already going in for an induction no matter what. 8 days til baby!

Just had my 37th week appointment. I tested positive for strep B. I'm worried but I know I'm in good hands. Baby hasn't engaged at all. I'm at -3. Doc said I have a 40% chance of a c section. I'm bummed but my birth plan has always been just a healthy baby and healthy me, however that happens.
Had my 38 week appt today. 2cm dilated and 50% effaced. I already feel good about this boy considering my daughter was delivered at 41 weeks and I only measured 1cm with her up until the day I had her!! Hopefully this little guy isn't waiting 41 weeks!
@NotAPlaya-JustCrushAlot Woot about seeing the end in sight. Never had a foley bulb, but interesting they are sending you home with one. My fingers are crossed you dilate on your own before then. @MrsCPALeslie It's so disappointing not hearing there is progress each week. Hope you get eventful news next week. @hp_momma 8 days! I hope the time passes quick (if that is what you want) @Kateriee I'm sorry about the disappointing news. These appointments went from short and almost annoying at times to totally anxiety provoking. My birth plan is the same, but I cannot help but be disappointed in the possibility of a c section due to the recovery.
H and I had a phone call with the OB today and hematology finally called me back this afternoon. I will now be getting CBCs everyday to monitor platelets until baby arrives and they scheduled an appointment to see hematology tomorrow. I hope it is fruitful. I decided to have them attempt the external version this Friday. I am 37 weeks today and it sounds like no matter what they will evict baby at about 39 weeks either via c section if he is still breech or induction if they manage to get him head down.
I am not pumped about daily CBCs as the lab closest to me does not have office hours conducive with getting to work when needed and they close before I get out. The next closest lab is 20 minutes from my house, but in the opposite direction from work so it takes about 40 minutes to get to work from there. But I probably only have 5 days total of work left so I'll manage.
@Louise_Belcher That's too bad about the logistics but I'm glad you have a plan set up. FX your appt with hematology is in your favor as well as your daily platelet levels. Good luck with the external version on Friday and Hooray! for 5 days of work left.
I had an appointment yesterday and everything went fine. With this midwife practice, like my last one, they don't do cervical checks as a routine thing (though I guess you could ask for them.) So I don't know of my "progress" so to speak but I really hate getting checked so I'm glad I was not checked. I might ask to be checked next week if I'm still pregnant at that appointment, which is the day before my due date.
There were two updates that were both only slightly annoying. Baby is still head down and quite low, which is very good of course, as the lower s/he is, the less likely s/he is to somehow miraculously become breach. However, the midwife said s/he has become "sunny side up," which is not ideal, and as she put it "would required more pushing." Given that DD came out in two pushes last time, I really don't want "more pushing" -- I'm accustomed to it being easy now! Luckily she told me some things I can try to reverse this. Baby was not in this position last time.
The second slightly annoying thing is that the midwife estimated the baby at "about 6 lbs." The thing is, two appointments ago (about 3 weeks ago), a different midwife also estimated the baby at "about 6 lbs." (No estimate from last time.) The same thing happened to me with DS. For 4+ weeks in a row, different doctors estimated him at 6lbs. The first time they were like, "a big baby!" and by the end they were like, "a small baby!" He was in fact small and had a very difficult time nursing. I wonder if he didn't grow in the last month; my older sister didn't in her last month, and my parents had to get her induced. Meanwhile, my DD was bigger and did much better with nursing. I'd rather have an average-sized baby again and I am hopeful this one is in fact growing. I'm sure this is nbd but I don't want to repeat the newborn experience with had with DS.
@Louise_Belcher so glad you have a plan in place! May not be entirely what you want, or options you really want to do, but at least it's a plan and a healthy baby will be the outcome! I'm curious to here how the external version goes, if you want to share your experience of course.
@kat81 hopefully baby is growing! I was told I'm going to have a big baby because of what he measured this past Monday (7lbs 8oz). Kind of scary, but taking it with a grain of salt! My dr said she prefers big babies haha said they eat better and tend to sleep through the night quicker...than all well and good, however, you're not the one pushing him out! Hopefully you're little one will flip and not be sunny side up!
"A day without laughter is a day wasted." ~Charlie Chaplin
@Louise_Belcher I'm sorry about the lab not being concvenient, but glad you have a plan with hematology finally. I hope baby flips! (I know you've done so many exercises to spin this baby, but keep it up! It just needs to flip once!) Hopefully the external version on Friday works!
@kat81 My midwives never guess the size of the baby. I think it's next to impossible to guess the weight of the baby by Leopold maneuvers, so I would try not to put any stock in that. (Even an ultrasound they say is not fully reliable, so I wouldn't think anything of a midwife guessing the baby's weight if they told me something.) I hear you about your past experience, but I would think if they were truly worried baby wasn't growing they'd order an ultrasound to make sure. Baby not growing in the last month would be a major concern (because it likely means your placenta is not doing it's job fully). As for being sunny side up, you can do the exercises to try moving baby to an OA position. But, even if it means a little more effort, at least your baby is head down!
Thanks everyone! I am so happy with my OB and how hard she has worked to get answers about what to do with me. I know I am in wonderful hands and she will make sure baby and I are safe. She called me this morning and they moved the version up to tomorrow morning due to OR conflicts, so I am busting my butt to get work and home ready in case a baby comes tomorrow. My poor mom is not handling the stress of all of this well and her normally rather low blood pressure (90/60) is now high (146/82) and had to go to the Dr this morning to be checked. They are sending her for blood work and a chest x-ray, but they think it is likely stress/anxiety. Gah! Is this done yet?!
@kat81 That would completely annoy me and make me nervous also to have them guessing weight and have it be the same for so long. I have my fingers crossed that you have an average sized baby and that s/he flips back.
@Louise_Belcher I'm sure its just stress/anxiety like you said for your mom, but I'm glad they're checking her out! Hope she feels better! And, I hope all goes well tomorrow, it sounds like you have a great OB!
"A day without laughter is a day wasted." ~Charlie Chaplin
@Louise_Belcher I'm so sorry about your mom! Fingers crossed for you that everything goes perfectly! Glad your OB is awesome, especially when the news sucks/isn't what you wanted it's amazing to feel confident in the dr. By your side!
My kids are proving to be similar - with DS my water broke at my 40 week checkup appt. I ended up getting pitocin 12 hours later and he was born the next day. Today at my 40 week check up, the same thing happened! On my way to L&D now. One way or another, baby girl will be here soon!!
