I was a little disappointed in our local march for science. DH and I were both interested in participating. We knew a large group of people who were marching together, and when we reached out to them we were basically told we could come if we really wanted to, but since we're religious we probably wouldn't fit in well/might be uncomfortable with the approach of some other marchers. (The guy we initially talked to ended up carrying a sign that said "Science > Mythology." Point received, sir.) It ended up not working out for unto march anyways, but the tone made us really sad. There are many religious people in the STEM world, including DH, it doesn't have to be either or!
@mrs_tacos I wish that more people would believe that science is compatible with Christianity. In fact, the Bible has a lot of truths about nature and medicine that weren't discovered until way later in history. For example: The life is in the blood, the earth is a sphere, the sea has currents, etc. (Not saying the Bible is a science textbook.)
@mrs_tacos A million times yes to what you said. It can be both, there are STEM degrees at religious universities. I'm sorry though you and your hubs weren't welcomed due to the tone it took. If only everyone could just get along.
Mentally preparing for the acid reflux punishment for what I am going to eat for lunch. SMOKED PULLED PORK BBQ and sweet potato fries. It's worth it.
@mrsmarygs I concur with you. Many think it's one or the other. Also just with religion in general. Mayim Bialik is Jewish and is a Neuroscientist (also is Amy on Big Bang Theory) and she has an amazing video defending how her religion helps her be a better scientist.
I am super impatiently awaiting 2 of my best friends to go into labour any time now. Like C'mon man! Ive waited long enough...pregnant people are the worst!
@labby18 I haven't had heartburn all day and decided to order Mexican for lunch with some coworkers. The delivery guy just called and said he's in the lobby and I swear just the phone call was like a signal to my body because the heartburn has arrived. I haven't even SEEN the food yet!
Me & DH: 31 | Married: 5.4.13 | TTC: April 2016 | BFP: 1.8.17 | EDD: 9.13.17
@Swazzle@labby18 I feel your pain! I'm pretty sure I just got heartburn from chewing gum. My friends swear the life-ruining heartburn goes away as soon as you give birth. Is it sad that right now I'm looking forward to September for the heartburn relief as much as I am the baby coming?
@mrs_tacos That's too bad! I'm not religious but I know so many people who are. I find they still accept all the same scientific info anyone else would. Of course there are those who take it to the extreme but if you're actively seeking out ways to get involved, you're not one of them!
The "no religious folks allowed" vibe from the March for Science made me sad, too. They aren't exclusive of one another. It reminded me of the "no pro-lifers" vibe during the March for Women. Again, they aren't exclusive of one another. Those are my only complaints against these big marches- you aren't really welcomed unless you agree 100% on everything. Otherwise, rock on!

I was MISERABLE yesterday. My uterus hurt so bad and I could feel every knee and elbow my child has. He/she kept squirming around and would push all the way out on one side, and I felt like I wanted to fall over and die. So uncomfortable. I'm feeling better today but man, there must have been some growing going on because yesterday was awful. Also science and religion CAN work together. Unrealted to the science part but yesterday my sister told me about this church she's been going to. It's a relatively new idea I think, I don't know if he's called a pastor or what but he's got tattoos, he has a "love child", they have same sex couples in attendance, it really is a service for everyone, no matter where you are or what you've done in your life. I really like that. Jesus' disciples were even sinners, we're all sinners. She found a place super accepting. And I love that. She wants me to go with her one time. I'm actually excited to check it out.
On the topic of science, Bill Nye's new show "Bill Nye Saves the World" is now out on Netflix! The first episode was about Climate change, and didn't keep my attention as much because none of it was new information to me, but the next two episodes were about alternative medicine and artificial intelligence, and were really interesting. Definitely worth a watch!
@mrs_tacos I definitely agree that many branches of different religions are compatible with science. I do think there are some that aren't (my husband was raised in the Earth is only 6000 years old, dinosaurs and humans hung out together, fossils are tests for faith, alternate anything is wrong). We don't happen to be religious but dad's family is... One of his cousins is a pastor and was definitely at a March this weekend. No compatibility issues AT ALL. It makes me angry when people who are professing to be open minded are more closed minded than the people who they're against. Also, yes Bill Nye's new show is AWESOME.
So much toddler vomit. DD was sitting on me and all of the sudden, out of no where, just threw up. Lots too. No warning, no cry, no mom, nothing. Just a faucet. Baby vomit smells so much worse while pregnant. Shew. I have a feeling it will be a long night tonight.
Completely agree that religion and science should be able to be friends.
My Dr.'s office had my due date in the computer as Sept. 6 instead of the 7th like I thought. It's just one day... but I totally changed all my apps, lol.

Ughhh it's so awful when there's no warning! I mean it's always awful. Think she just has a tummy bug? Hope she feels better soon!!!

My doctors office has my due date as the 7th instead of the 8th! I think they did that because they can't technically do the c-section until 39 weeks and August 31st has me at 38+6.... so I think they scooted me back a day to fix that...
My dr keeps saying I'm X and a half weeks at all my appointments. I always go at X+1. Pretty sure I'm going to change my due date on my apps right now since @hollygolightly09 changed hers Anything to feel further along lol
Thanks @wyomama0427 I have no clue. She acted fine before and after. She went to bed ok, but woke up at 3. She seems fine this morning too. I'm keeping my FX that it was some fluke.

DS did this one time when he decided to drink too much juice, he was standing in the living room totally fine and then just vomited. TOTALLY fine afterward, running around and playing. Hopefully it was something similar!
@DPandMB I hope your DD is feeling better this morning. Toddler puke (I mean, curdled milk? Blech) is the worst.
Also, *speshul snowflake alert*, since obviously I'm a speshul snowflake and figure that since I rarely lurk the baby sex thread, not many others do either, haha. We had the anatomy scan this morning, and baby is doing awesome, and is 14oz. My tech and doctor this time were amazeballs, and it was a much more enjoyable experience than our last one with the grumpy pants tech. We are officially team blue!
Might be a girl then! I dreamed the opposite both pregnancies! I am so excited for you to find out! And when in the freaking H is @wyomama0427 going to find out?
@lap018 , i am pretty sure her's is next week? right @wyomama0427 . I'm just overwhelmingly excited. I will probably have a dream tonight it's a girl and so on.
eta: i sometimes forget that my new thumbnail picture is freddie, and i'm like oo who is love titting everything...oh that's me...just kidding.
Also, DH got to feel him kick last night! I didn't think it would happen for a while yet, I have an anterior placenta and DH couldn't feel it with DS1 (also an anterior placenta) until about 22w. But DH was rubbing my stomach last night, and DS2 all of a sudden gave the biggest kick, and it was awesome. i'm not expecting it too often for the next few weeks, but I'm glad it happened anyway.
@labby18 GL with your a/s! This pregnancy felt *exactly* like my one with DS1, and I was wondering if this one was also a boy. But other than that, I had no feeling either way. Old wives tales/ Chinese chart both said girl. 50/50 chance either way!
