Re: Weekly Randoms 4/24-28

  • @wyomama0427 yikes! That could have been AWFUL. Glad it's minimal damage to him, but sorry his company is being dumb. Some of these things are simply just accidents with NO ONE to blame...mechanical failure happens as is an accepted risk noted by the manufacturer. Hang in there mama and tell your DH we're all thinking of him!

  • @wyomama0427 I hope your H gets better soon. Sorry for all the stress this must be causing.

  • @wyomama0427 workers comp always sucks. Sorry he has to deal with that, and I'm glad it wasn't worse than it could have been.

  • @labby18 That normally would sound AWESOME, at least to me, expect pregnant so nope! It just sounds like torture having to watch everyone else have fun.
  • @labby18 anything outside and that physical at that far in our pregnancy makes me feel miserable now. Maybe you're doctor will tell you its too much.

  • @labby18 DH and I took the kids to one of those last year, all the obstacles were in the water, and none of us could move for about a week. It doesn't sound like your boss thought this one through very well...
  • @labby18 We did one of those at work last year. It was a ropes course through the trees with lots of ziplines. I was not pregnant and not disabled in any way, so it was fun but very challenging. Pregnant and disabled people do not seem like the target market for these things though...even the height alone got to a lot of people!

  • @wyomama0427 yikes! God works in mysterious ways for sure! Hopefully the company will back off and allow him time to heal! As with most men, I'm sure he's enjoying the doting
  • @wyomama0427 I'm glad he is doing better.  Hopefully he feels much better soon.
  • So, I've wondered for a while why I have never known of anyone IRL to use a midwife. Apparently it isn't legal for them to practice in Alabama. The state passed a bill yesterday giving them rights to practice. This state is so weird, ya'll.
Wow! I had no idea. Happy to see them making a positive change.
  • @HollyGolightly09 Not allowed, as in if not associated with a hospital?  Or just not at all?  Certified nurse midwives (CNMs) are super common here!  But I've only had them when associated with a hospital, not sure about with a birth center, etc.

Apparently, the only kind of midwife that can legally practice are "certified nurse midwives" which requires the same amount of schooling as a nurse practitioner.

Home births are only legal is there is no midwife present.

ETA: It's worth mentioning that 38 of the 67 counties in Alabama don't have a hospital.

    *stuck in the box*

What?! That seems like a huge failing in infrastructure. What happens if you live in a county with no hospital and are surrounded my counties that are also without a hospital? Where do you give birth?

  • @HollyGolightly09 We used to live in the Carolinas, and it was much the same. Half of what went on in both local and state government was just...puzzling. (Not that California is immune from this at all, but they tend to be more consistent, and less random about the weirdness. ;)

  • Is it just me or are there very few of us who participate in the randoms? On my old bmb, we had a daily randoms thread and it was usually several pages long.
  • My neighbor has two small dogs and they have been out in the yard yapping. All freaking morning. I am losing my mind. I really need to get stuff done in the house today but I'm so irritated from these dogs that I have zero motivation.
  • @bridge-and-wall pooping is serious business
  • Oh I love those @Cats*in*space. I don't know if they make them anymore or not, but when I first got pregnant I craved these. I had teddy grahams with frosting. It was just as amazing.

  • @Cats*in*space I used to love Dunk-a-Roos! And apparently they still have them in Canada and are available on Amazon. @towntowns I am so sorry you are dealing with this! Prayers that your traveling goes well!
