I had genuinely never seen mayo on a burger before. No one does it in NY. To be honest, the first time I tried mayo, I was 15 and at a friend's house.

Mayo is basically a given on all burgers in Canada. I don't eat mayo at all and have to specifically ask for no mayo everywhere I go!

The very first time I went out to eat with my now in-laws, they all ordered burgers and fries. The problem for me was that I didn't eat either at the time as I was following a strict diet plan for athletes (college swimmer); the menu left me with minimal options and I was stuck with a salad. Oh, the judgey looks I got that day.

Since H is home with S while I'm at work I try not to make a big deal about how I'm the only one that wakes in the MOTN with her and never get to take naps to try to rest up. I guess I've also been designated the job of getting her ready in the morning while he sleeps as long as he possibly can. She wakes up between 5-6:30 for the day and I technically don't have to start getting myself ready until 6:30, but it would be nice if he would get her so I could get that extra little bit of rest. Instead his a$$ is snoring away this morning because he decided to stay up past midnight (he was off last night). He does this almost every time he's off and then gets mad when he's so tired in the morning. S really is a handful so he really should be trying to get as much sleep as possible especially since he actually gets the opportunity to sleep. This also makes me mad because while I was on mat leave, he had no issue waking up at 5 am to go run, but now its a big to do. Meanwhile, I'm struggling with some real sleep deprivation; forgetting things at work, getting horrible headaches, etc.

Having the WORST day. DD has been up since 5:30 a.m. and would not go back to sleep. I tried to sit and rock her in her room and she just freaked out and cried, which of course woke up DS. Since he was already awake I decided to stick to my guns and continue rocking her in the dark room because I did not want to let her get up at 5:30, especially since she went to sleep around 8 with 2 wake-ups. She cried pretty much the whole time until 7 when we went downstairs for breakfast. She has been a nightmare all day, and when I went to try to put her down for a nap she lost her mind again. Screaming, crying, writhing and wiggling out of my arms. It's 2 p.m. and she's been up since then with only two 30 minute naps (both of which have only happened after lots of crying and fighting). It's now DS's nap time and she is level 10 screaming and crying. Normally I hold her on the couch during this time and she naps most of the 2 hours, but she is not having it today. DS of course is now wide awake and can't nap because she is so loud. I cannot calm her down. Nursing, holding, rocking, nothing works. She's not sick, hungry, or wet. I finally had to put her in her crib and walk away because I'm getting so frustrated. Poor DS has been up since 5:30 and now can't take a nap, so I'm sure he's going to be a joy for the rest of the day ... and I am seriously sobbing because I'm so frustrated. Just need to vent; I hate days like this.

@mrsmoose5 So sorry to hear your going through that. I know it's probably tough since you have DS also but is there anyway you can take them for a walk and maybe she'll fall asleep in the stroller? Or just taking her outside to calm her down? When S gets super cranky, we take her outside and her mood completely changes

Thanks, everyone. The day didn't really get any easier, but it's over now, so hopefully tomorrow will be better. We went for a walk in the stroller in the afternoon, but she was still pretty fussy and didn't fall asleep until just before we got back home (like, literally one block from home) and then woke right back up as soon as we got into the garage. She wouldn't go back to sleep after that, after several frustrating failed attempts on my part. But she actually rolled around on the floor happily for a bit while I got dinner ready. She and DS both went down for an early bedtime (she at 6:30, him at 7:30). So she was up from 1 p.m. until 6:30, and went down for bed super easy (wtf?). She didn't nurse before bed though, so I'm a little worried ...

My H sent me a link to Kids Woot with some funny saying shirts. I know some people don't like sayings at all, btu I generally am ok with them as long as they are in good taste. I looked at the link and one shirt says "Mommy's bitchy because I cry". wtf. I'm all for a funny shirt but that one didn't cut it for me

@kvruns yeah, that's a bit much. I'm all for funny sayings but when it comes to using, not necessarily swear words but pejoratives really, on kids clothing, it just seems a little tacky to me.
ETA: one of H's cousins posted a photo of her baby in a onesie that read "Mommy says I'm a Republican because she doesn't want me to be an ass" and I thought that was OTT.

I'm not a fan of clothes with sayings, for myself or LO, but have seen some cute ones. The ones that we have were gifts and I don't put them on her much. Most of my issue with them is they often say something obvious ("mommy loves me" - does this really need to be announced on her clothes, was it in doubt?) and also that many say mommy or daddy and we're using the Hebrew Ima and Aba.

I would like it even less if it had swears on it. I'm not a prude, but that doesn't belong on clothes.

I did love the first day of daycare outfit @kvruns had, "I'm new here" - it's so perfect!

I've been back at work for almost a month and my friggin leave replacement teacher is still screwing me over! The woman didn't listen to any of the instructions or guidance left, misled students as far as content knowledge and now I've got students in tears over grades a week and half before their AP test because she just won't follow my lessons!

And of course she inflated grades horrifically, which has parents in a tizzy. I don't have time for this.

Yes H, proceed to wake me up last night only an hour after I fall asleep when I told you I needed to go to bed early because I am exhausted. For a change I was in enough of a deep sleep that I didn't hear you come in but thanks for making sure you woke me up anyway. I don't understand why he doesn't get it. He just kept talking and talking. I just wanted to yell "I don't care, now go away".

@ladybug2821 did he wake you up for a certain reason? On days when my H wants to stay up late I go sleep in the guest room or he will sleep on the couch because I'm like I will kill you if you wake me up

@kvruns Not a reason that couldn't wait. He wasn't even coming to bed. He just got home from work and wanted to talk. When I finally started ignoring him, he went to the living room. He's always been like this. He thinks I over exaggerate how tired I am. I'm going to have to have another convo with him about not waking me the F up. It's like I have 2 children.

I've been juggling two kids - off schedule - for hours while DH went off to play intramural soccer. And not 20 minutes since they finally both went to sleep, and I'm in the middle of making lunches, does he limp in and tell me he heard a pop. I open my mouth and he shoots back with "I don't need a lecture."

It shouldn't piss me off but it's the straw on the proverbial camel's back. I have done nothing but work and take care of our children today. You don't get to milk this injury when you went off and "played" with my friends.

Venting here is healthier than saying it or going to bed angry. Rant over.

@Ladybug2821 That is the worst! My H works late, usually gets home after 9 p.m. when the kids and I are already asleep. It's bad enough that he comes in our room to shower, which usually wakes me up, but if he woke me up to talk too! Omg!

It's like he can't help himself. He was actually off last night and took a nap (what are those??) and by the time he woke up I was ready to go to sleep for the night. I'm literally falling asleep and he's just talking. I said I know you see that I'm falling asleep, SHUT UP!!!!

My H took a 2 hour nap this morning and is asleep now for almost another 1.5 hours. Wtf. Where are my naps? LO actually napped 2.5 hours this morning which never happens. I got to veg some but if I had tried for a nap LO would have woken up instantly.

If course H will want to stay up late now since he slept all day which will throw off my night. Lame

@kvruns That sounds exactly like my house. I can't even remember the last time I took a nap. S is taking longer naps but they're still unpredictable and even when I try, I anticipate her waking up. But H does have her all week while I'm at work so I really try not to make a big deal about it. He's lucky where she will actually take a now with him and they'll be knocked out. But for some reason she won't do that with me.

@Ladybug2821 it's been months and months since I've napped. Granted I've never been a big napper. Apparently my LO gets it from me bc his usual naps are about 30-40 min. This afternoon it was like 20 min tho I attribute it to his longer morning nap and then falling asleep in the car for a little bit.

I'm guilty of taking a nap with LO sometimes! Thursday he napped for 2.5 hours (not his usual!) and I napped for almost 2 of them.
tonight M was hungry and I was tired so while H cooked / cleaned me and M decided to co nap for an hour. No regrets.

Starting at like 7 mo I did that with DD with Baby Einstein. It was 30 minutes for me to just be. No shame.

Today was a super rough day. Ever since last night, S decided she didn't want to sleep. It took forever to get her asleep and she woke up 4 times. I ended up with 4 hrs of sleep because I agreed to stay up late and watch a movie with H to get some time together. Never again until she's sleeping through the MOTN. Then all day today she fought every single nap and would not nap long. Her naps have been Improving greatly so I was surprised at this. I noticed she had a lot of gas. At her 6 month check up the dr said to cut back on her Zantac since she hadn't been spitting up or showing any reflux signs. Well I realized I ate a cheesesteak to see how dairy would effect her now (we suspect a dairy allergy but haven't confirmed). Now I'm sure that's why she's been crazy today and having all that gas. And cutting the Zantac probably didn't help the situation

We had a glorious 3 hour nap this morning (after an awful night of sleep). I seem to have the opposite problem tho. DH cannot get V to nap for some reason but he will zonk out on me for hours and I'll be stuck in nap jail. Babywearing FTW! This morning I waited until he had already been sleeping for an hour before I gave in and napped with him. Typically if I try to nap with him someone calls the second I start dozing off. DH did call about an hour later but I told him we were trying to nap so he didn't keep me on the phone.

I had no idea it would be on Netflix! Yay! I can watch an almost current movie soon (I think).

ETA: My vent. MIL & FIL recently moved FAR away but seem to be back every other weekend. So while they "moved" technically, we still see them as often as when they lived here. But do they act like that? Of course not... so now I'm about to be dumped on Mother's Day. We have spent it with my mom the past few years by DH's choice because his family takes trips that weekend that we are just not into (Read: Amish country) and my mom doesn't have anyone else because my brothers are vaga bonds who are all over the country but not here. Anyway, MIL is making her convenient, heroic drive up the Thursday before Mother's Day and has already alluded to needing to be together. But guess what? I'm a mom and my mom is a mom, and damn it, we already made reservations for our day, which DH was a part of planning. And now, here we are, with DH feeling obligated to spend time with his mom on Mother's Day, which I can't fault him for because she is his mom, but like, what about me? And there's no way I'm leaving my mom high and dry or combining our moms (my mom has an inferiority complex with them) so I'm left being the mom who doesn't get to be treated special and the DIL who doesn't show up with the grandkids on a holiday. Ho-f-ing-rray.

End of pity party (for now).

Sometimes I want to vent on here about people but recently I've been thinking about the fact it's a public place people can find. Crazy, because I'm sure no one is even thinking of it to look, but that's my anxiety/paranoia for you. I want to vent so badly!

@SandNStarsNJ so sorry you're dealing with that. It's hard to be sort of stuck in the middle.
last year my mom got mad because I didn't plan anything special for her. Literally didn't speak to me for 2 weeks and we were living with her.
This year we are across the country visiting MIL but I refused to be there for Mother's Day. I said I want my first one to be home, at my house with my baby. She is actually pissy about it. Like we're there the day before, calm down lady!
I had plans with my mom for that evening but she bailed and is flying to vegas for the weekend and my step mom isn't overly involved in our life so I think I actually get to be a mom by myself this year.
