I indulged at lunch by getting a milkshake too (my reward for sitting through 2 extra hours of gymnastics for DD1 this week) and now I'm fully regretting it as I'm overstuffed.

@emilyalso: I love everything about that! The tree, the names, the handwriting That sounds lovely! Will it be a nursery/room decoration after being in the hosp? Such a sweet idea.
@starphish18: Ditto to what others have said re: burping every 10 mins and/or halfway through a bottle or between breasts. Our LO (who spit up every.burping.opportunity) ended up being diagnosed with baby acid reflux (after some time had passed). So it turns out the sphincter at the top of the tummy isn't fully formed until the 1-year mark, which is when the reflux went away. But my related point is this: There are other ways to burp a baby that aren't the normal "hold over your shoulder" style. You'll find what works best for you! Our little guy, like I said, majorly spit up with every burp and multiple times every feeding... at least half of what he took in... and in a projectile sense... yeah, so getting stuff dribbling soaking down your back loses its appeal awfully fast. Our best solution: I'd put him in my lap, sitting facing sideways, and have a burpcloth spread out below his chin with one hand and pat his back with the other, and wait for the deluge. We ended up having maybe 30 burpcloths and washcloths in heavy rotation. Anyway, off tangent. Yes to burping often: you'll see how relieved it helps them feel! Just like when we ever have a huge helpful belch, it just feels good!
@starphish18 I'm sure you'll hear something similar to this in your BFing class since that's where I heard it. What they said (and pretty much everyone else that answered who actually have the experience haha) is to try to burp in between boobs and after. The teacher said that when babies are latching properly, they won't be as gassy so they may not burp, but it's good to take a short break inbetween anyways.
Our weekend has been shockingly busy. We got most of our Amazon stuff yesterday, and did the in store Target registry this morning. So much stuff! We took someone else's advice on here about adding anything you want to the registry to get the 15% off that so H ended up with a sleeping bag for his fishing trip at the beginning of May. I put together a bunch of stuff and am exhausted! We attempted some frolf, but the wind was much too cold.
I had a really wonderful shower today! It was at a 100+ year old inn/tea room and it was just beautiful. I can't wait until my sister sends me some pictures so that I can AW them. I also kept the shower small - just family and 3 friends - and I'm really happy I did because it would have been overwhelming otherwise. I'm exhausted!

Seconding @SKZW DS spit up at every feed, not reflux, but formula fed, he tended to eat too much nbd. I used to do the lap burp too, the best method is actually to have them sitting upright in your lap, thumb and forefinger under the chin supporting the head (usually with a burp cloth draped over, I used flat pre-fold diapers as burp cloths) and rather than patting their back, move their whole body in a circular motion. At night I preferred over the shoulder because he would stay asleep like that and it was easier to put him back down from there.

Sorry just catching up after a long day at work! Too lazy/tired to tag, but so exciting for those of you that had showers today - can't wait to see pictures! Sounds like everyone is having very productive, nest-y weekends! Also feeling all of you that were up half the night last night - I woke up after about an hour thinking I was throwing up in my sleep and had a mouthful of bile. Took some tums, tried to relax, went back to sleep... and an hour or 2 later, it happened again. I ended up getting all the pillows I could find and sleeping basically sitting up. Irritating! I have another big work day tomorrow, but it's my last assigned weekend until the weekend after my EDD if I'm still pregnant so I'm pretty excited about that!
Question/freak out: My mucus plug came out, unmistakably. I'm 35.1. I know it can happen weeks before labor, but 5 weeks before?? I've been nesting, I've been very uncomfortable today with low back pain and pelvic pain (not unusual for me, though, worse today). Everything I read online tonight has me worrying. Worth messaging my midwives now (they probably won't see it for days) or should I just call on Monday or wait until my appointment Tuesday evening? Thanks for humoring my FTM freak out!
@jayandaplus Your mucus plug can fall out and regenerate and fall out again and repeat the whole process multiple times ! Unless you were having timeable contractions, I personally wouldn't worry about it. If you feel like your back pain could be contractions, you should still be able to time it. BUT, if you need peace of mind, you could call/go to L&D! If it was me, I wouldn't.

@jayandaplus, I agree with @hp_momma, if your back pain is timetable it's definitely worth calling. I notice my nesting urge is a lot stronger on the weekends. If you've been working on stuff around the house, that could be the culprit for more pain. As always though, trust your gut. If you feel like you should check with a doctor, call or go.

Trying to catch up. Two nights out in a row for us. School year end awards banquet last night and dinner out with friends tonight. It was fun to dress up for the banquet. DH looked so cute in his bow tie! I on the other hand resembled a floral covered whale and had to pee a minimum of 5 times during the event. We rarely do weekend babysitter needed things so it feels like I haven't seen DS in forever.
Cannot wait to see peeps shower pics! Also envious of everyone's nesting or at least your energy to do things. Hard core feet dragging denial is happening over here.
@Jens_Hoes I sterilize once (unless something gross happens) and I tend to not wash new clothes unless I think they will shrink a lot. I do wash anything used. I like how new clothes look vs after the first wash and have been fortunate that there were no skin irritation issues.
@starphish18 I second (or third) the on lap burping so that you could used a burp cloth covered hand to catch any spit up. We also did it half way through a bottle or when switching sides. Sometimes this would overly upset our aggressive eater though and burping attempts would be cut short.
I swear I've been stalking for the weekend chat and it wasn't showing up on my mobile bump?? MB is the worst!!! Just seeing all of this now. @RainyDays86 so glad you're home and DH is taking good care of you! That's tough about not touching your kid...how long do you have to wait? Not at all the same but I used to have to put on progesterone cream every night and had to be very careful to wash my hands & not to touch my husband after, and the pets too because it can transfer to them and mess up their hormones...it was so stressful!
We went to the market today and loaded up on ingredients for 10 crock pot meals. We did it! But now my body is murdered. Lower back aches, a weird tight arch in my left foot, stabbing pains under my belly, and limping around like I'm 90. I'm sure I'll be happy later when we have the ease of tossing in dinner later but today I feel like the whole day has been shot ever since! Really looking forward to being able to walk and stand for more than an hour without feeling like I just had a moving day every day!!
jayandaplus, it happened to me today at 34w5d and my OB said that it doesn't mean anything and not to worry, but I wasn't having any pain or contractions with it. I second everyone else that if you're having contractions, definitely call, but otherwise it's normal.

I'm trying to remember who went to a donut festival because I can't stop thinking about donuts this morning, but I'm too far away to get them from my favorite place. Coffee and oatmeal it is.
I finished buying everything off of my registry this morning and it only came to about $275, which is awesome, but the estimated delivery is between May 16 and June 5th. So if that's the case, I might have a baby before I get it. We'll make do - I wasn't about to spend another $100 in shipping just to get it faster.

DH just headed back to work, he'll be done with this project in two weeks and then home for a good 4-6 weeks. So as long as junior stays put until then, I'm happy! I'm due late May so we should be good.
Going to get a crock pot soup going today that will be frozen into portions. Making another one this week. Then I have a new entree I want to try before I start making my usual recipes. I'll be making a lot of individual meals for when DH goes back on the road and it's just me, but I want to make a few family size meals as well.
It’s not that I don’t like you, it’s that I don’t know you. Stranger Danger.
So maybe I shouldn't be posting this in ransoms, but here's an update.
Symptoms (back pain, pelvic pressure, no mucus plug) continued yesterday and today, so called a midwife and she said she may want to see me today but she was in the middle of a visit. So I'm lying on the couch drinking water, freaking out. DH is freaked, which isn't helping me. I suddenly feel not ready! He's frantically doing dishes as we're both panicking a bit.
After a full day at Disney (13+ hrs) and that was after waking up before 5 so we could do presents at grandmas in the morning before the park opened - I'm gonna be couch bound the rest of the weekend. But thanks for all the advice guys! I'm usually not too great at hydrating but I did it! And rested a lot while the others went on rides. But DD had an amazing bday and I highly recommend Disney around age 3! We also went when she was 2 which was still worth it but way more involved/interested this time. Also, got lots of stranger comments - mostly supportive and encouraging but a few stares and mumbles along the way. But so glad it went well and that the slight fear of having the kids share a bday is no longer an issue lol. I wish mobile upload worked cuz we got lots of pics!
@kns1988 I didn't end up getting anything vintage. There's a much bigger vintage market here next weekend that is my favorite. I did, however, find a cute shirt for LO. Of course the stupid bump won't let me upload a pic. But it's it has a baseball with glasses & hair like Ricky Vaughn off of Major League and it says "Wild Thing." That's one of DH's favorite movies so he was excited.
Just sitting here sterilizing everything, I already scrubbed the kitchen clean. Next up heading to Cosco with DH so we can stock up on some paper plates and food. I am so happy my boss is out of the office Mon - Wed next week.
@jayandaplus FX all goes well. If it is "go time" (as my DH likes to refer to it) I am sure you will do great!
Welp, I lost more of my mucus plug and I've been having 6 contractions an hour for 2 hours. I called the OB and they said 6 contractions was their cutoff so I could come into L&D or I could wait until tomorrow morning and get looked at in the office. As long as I don't get any more than 6/hr tonight, I'll wait until the morning to go in. I'll be 35 weeks tomorrow. I'm a little freaked out! I feel like it's too early for this little guy to come out, but seeing all of the early babies on this board is making me feel a little better since so many are doing great. DH is outside installing the car seat now just in case.

Right there with you @kns1988! What did you decide to do? How are you feeling now?
I went into my midwife's office per her request and she put me on the monitor. I was having contractions, but more concerning to her was my "uterine irritability". She checked me, I'm 3 cm, 70% effaced. She gave me a shot of terbutaline to calm my uterus, and a bag of fluids. By the time we left my uterine activity on the monitor looked significantly better/calmer. I also left with no back pain. Baby was perfectly fine the whole time. We've been home a few hours and my back is killing me again, so who knows. I go back on Tuesday unless things change/I get new symptoms. For now she said "take it really easy".
I'm still freaked out. I'm trying to remember to keep breathing at this point. Thanks for all of the support everyone!
@jayandaplus, I'm glad you were able to go in! I've just been counting all day. I'm at 5-6 an hour for the past 4 hours, but the baby is still moving well and I'm going to wait it out until morning unless the contractions get more frequent. I go back and forth between feeling anxious and feeling okay; DH is being really sweet and attentive, and keeps reminding me of the stuff we learned in Lamaze class, so that's helping.
I wish I would have asked when I spoke to the doctor whether they would stop labor at 35 weeks or if they would just let the baby come early. I assume if they planned to stop it they would have told me to come in.
Me: 29, DH: 31 Married: October 2014 Began TTC: April 2015 BFP #1: 9/18/15. EDD 5/18/16. MC 10/26/15. (9w) BFP #2: 2/27/16. EDD 11/7/16. MC/D&E 4/20/16 (11w) BFP #3: 9/22/16. EDD 5/29/17. DS born 4/24/17 BFP #4: 5/20/18. EDD 1/23/19.
@kns1988 I'm glad you're having feelings of "okay". Hang onto those! Good that your DH is being supportive and attentive.
I don't know what your OB would say, but I would think they'd try to delay labor a little unless you were 6 cm dilated. My midwife said once you get to 6 cm it's go time, period. But they might try some easy, minor things, like the terbutaline shot, fl uids, bedrest, etc. to see if you respond to that. Especially with just having your shower, I wonder if "too much excitement" is thing? (I went to a soccer game last night that was very exciting and we keep joking it was too exciting for my uterus.)
Best wishes, @jayandaplus & @kns1988! What a nerve-wracking time! Try to breathe, count, and follow your providers' guidance, and you guys'll do awesome!
I think 35 is on the cusp, it's not a medical emergency, but LO would more than likely need oxygen and NICU time. I would think they'd still give steroid shots though, so they mustn't be too concerned if they haven't had you come in for that

@achays11 wow, that's really cool! Whales are awesome!
@kns1988 looking forward to the pictures! Reading the posts further: oh dear, it sounds a bit early but that should still be fairly okay it seems. Good luck, hope they go away for now! At my last weeks appointment, at 37 weeks, they told me for the first time if i were to start going into labor after this they wouldn't attempt to stop it.
@jayandaplus every time i see 'randoms' autocorrected to 'ransoms' i lol a little bit inside. Good to hear you and the baby are okay!
We've done quite a bit of unpacking in the house, mainly kitchen stuff, went through 10+ tubs. Got our new king size mattress delivered, the washer and dryer came too, getting the internet on Tuesday and hopefully filling our propane tank on Thursday or so (it's pretty empty right now). This is all very exciting. I still have to do a work related certification exam on Friday so i'm staying put where there's internet, studying.
Sounds like everyone has had a pretty exciting weeken! Lots of nesting, possibly labor, and prepping! Thoughts and positive vibes to those having contractions! You'll do great if you do go into labor early!!
We had our breastfeeding class and cpr class today. Learned some stuff in breastfeeding and they told me I should get the Medela PNSA starter kit through my insurance rather than the spectra. Cpr was basically a review for me because I was certified last year. Kind of annoyed to have paid and didn't get any certification, but it was a nice refresher. my back is a bit sore for sitting in the crappy chairs so just relaxin the rest of the night

I wish I would have asked when I spoke to the doctor whether they would stop labor at 35 weeks or if they would just let the baby come early. I assume if they planned to stop it they would have told me to come in.
