Re: Weekly Randoms April 17th

  • I've had one of those days that's just bad news piled on top of bad news. Also DS and I have head colds (sick toddlers are the crankiest little people) and DH is at work from 7a-11p, so I just bought all the impulse food and plan on eating my feelings for the rest of the day, starting with this Demi loaf of sourdough bread.

  • @dragonfly87-2 I completely agree. If you want to voice your opinion about anything on the internet, go nuts, but also know there will be people that disagree with you and have every right to post their point of view. I don't mind a good debate, but I don't like when people start insulting each other or name calling. I get so aggravated when someone voices an opinion and someone replies "your dumb" (that typo is on purpose). :unamused:
  • Yeah I got into a huge thing with a woman on a mom's group who was very anti- abortion. To each their own , but she was name calling and doing a whole lot of victim shaming which I was not okay with
  • My DD has been a ball of freaking energy. I want a nap. She says we can do anything I want, but no sleeping. She's currently wrapping "presents" and trying to set up a tea party. Her ice cream sandwich she picked out is melting. She's still micromanaging my pregnancy.
  • I feel like my first BMB bonded so much over the anti-vaxxers or penis crusaders that would debate their points to the ends of the earth. It was fun and we have some good debaters in that group.  :D
  • @MaximumEffort I hear you mama. I'm in the exact same boat. I can't keep my eyes open but DS will not quit. Here's hoping they go to bed early!
  • Watching Parenthood while pregnant.. not a good idea.
  • @dragonfly87-2 I am just going to sit here and nod in agreement.  If I try to give a reasonable response it will be a rant.

  • I am desperately craving a redbull and it is devastating.
  • TIL that there is such a thing as a decaf latte. I've never NOT wanted the caffeine before, but I was craving a yummy drink. Score!

  • I actually don't mind when my 8 month old gets up in the middle of the night lately (even if I have to get up with him), because part of me feels like having these babies so close together, he's getting shafted by not having mama all to himself during his toddler years when the big kids are at school and I'm savoring the moments of alone time we have together. The other side to that is when I wake up in the middle of the night, I have to pee immediately and after I feed him, I need to eat before I go back to sleep. I get so hungry at 1am!! Ugh!!
  • @dragonfly87-2  Did you call the pharmacy at all?  I believe that when they receive a script, they automatically fill it, and before they fill it, they run it through insurance automatically.  But I think if you call them and tell them you're not picking it up, they'll reverse it.  I could be wrong in your case, but I have definitely done that before at CVS! Insurance is very frustrating.

  • @cmessamore I creep October all the time since my EDD is borderline. I'm a big time creepy lurker.
  • @BayCamp where in Ohio do you go for Christmas?
  • @BayCamp where in Ohio do you go for Christmas?
About 45 minutes outside Cincinnati, a little town on the Ohio river. I can literally see Kentucky from my house.
  • @Baycamp I don't blame you at all! That is SO far to go at that time.

@cmessamore I lurk October all the time since my EDD is 11/3 -- mostly to see if I should be hopeful my nausea will stop soon! hehe

Gotcha! I'm originally from NW Ohio and just moved back to Ohio after a 13 year hiatus.

  • Anyone else not able to use their crockpot right now? The smell of food takes over our whole apartment and it makes me lose my appetite and then I have a hard time eating whatever we've made. It's very annoying since low effort dinners are the best right now

  • @DuchessOfCambridge I haven't been cooking much period but when I do the smell definitely just kind of hangs in the air.  I imagine it would be bad with the crockpot. Wish I had a solution for you but more just right there with you.   It sucks.   Hopefully that won't be bothering you soon!

My husband BBQed tonight. He opened the door and the smell completely turned my stomach. I went up to rest. I did not eat dinner. I felt bad because he tried but smells are the worst

  • @angkay711 we've realized we just need to make dinner every night instead of using the crockpot. Oh well, at least there's a solution! 2nd tri Duchess can't wait for crockpot again.

  • 12 hours delivering packages in the rain made for a horrible day. There's no way my work shoes will be dry by morning so I guess I'll have wet feet tomorrow too. I can't wait until I can tell my work I'm pregnant!  I had to deliver a super heavy package today that was a Team Lift package. I tried to make up excuses why I couldn't take it but my supervisor still made me take it.
  • @DuchessOfCambridge  I love cooking in the crockpot!  For a while I tried to do crockpot freezer meals but my son wouldn't even try 95% of them so I gave up.
  • We had to go to a baptism today. DH had to work. I had to get myself and 4 children ready for a baptism that none of them wanted to go to. Make them all bathe. Get the boys in monkey suits and the girls in dresses. Then has to lay out DH clothes and do my hair and makeup and get dressed.
My eldest son (13) then made horrendous faces in every. Single. Photo. I am so devastated. We probably won't get to have our foster daughter much longer and he literally ruined every photo to the point where I won't be able to frame ANY of them. I'm so tired of everyone being so inconsiderate of the things that are important to me , but expecting me to do everything for them anyways.
  • My random: we told our immediate family today, and I'm already sick of hearing, "was it a surprise??" No, you a-holes. I'm a first born rule follower married to a first born rule follower. We don't do surprises.

(Just to be clear, not taking about failed birth control. More directed to my BIL and SIL who have never been on birth control, and have 3 "surprise" children.)

  • @ShePersisted I agree. I don't mind religion coming up in normal conversation like talking about praying etc but yeah it can bring up a lot of judgement. It's kind of cool how on the internet no one knows what you look like or what your religion is (unless you tell them). It's like we're all on an even playing field for once.

@MississippiCatfish such a rude question. One of the reasons I'm sharing with everyone we tell that we want four kids so we don't get annoying comments.

  • I noticed that too @ShePersisted. I read it thru and didnt like the flavor of the responses. Please i hope we don't have one of those!
  • @bcashaw sorry your kid ruined all the photos. Teens can be jerks!

@ShePersisted yeah I'm on board with not having an open forum discussion on everyone's religion. Seems unnecessary and an easy way to start conflict. I'm not big in discussing "hot topics" in general though.
  • @bcashaw that would be so frustrating! Maybe as a consequence you can make them all dress up again next week and take the pictures... and your son can be in charge of getting the rest of the kids ready. :)

@ShePersisted I don't feel strongly about doing a religion thread but I just view it differently. It would be cool to see all of the different backgrounds we are coming from and how we are all in this together. I am strong in my faith but i can't imagine judging others for having different viewpoints than me. I have friends who are atheist, agnostic, catholic, baptist, evangelical, Jewish, Lutheran, non denominational, etc. I think it adds beauty to our group that there are probably a lot of different perspectives and backgrounds.. I can't imagine a getting to know you thread get heated over that. If so, that is sad. I would think the point would be to explain where you're coming from, not judging where someone else comes from.
