Our weekend is pretty exciting, ha! We went out for breakfast this morning which was delish! DH is in the home stretch with completing his teaching National Boards. It's been 3 years of hard work and sacrificing time as a family during the week and on weekends here and there. He's spending the weekend working on the final component. He turns it all in on May 17th! Can't wait!!
With that said, DD and I are hanging out, cleaning, watching some TV. We're having a house warming party on May 6 so we have some shopping to do for that. Plus laundry! And lunch with my brother tomorrow.
The weather was amazing yesterday! About 70* with almost no clouds in sight. (This is a big deal in April, in Western Washington, especially when it hasn't genuinely stopped raining since October!!!) Today it's cloudy and rainy once again and forecasted as such for the next week. Save me!!
@nbcarlson it's just been ridiculous!! Is it really too much to ask for some consistent weather, that doesn't involve rain for more than one day at a time?? I've lived here my entire life. This Fall/Winter/Early Spring has been the worst I can remember!
I hope you've been getting more sunshine in your area lately!!
Hey ladies! I keep forgetting we have so many who live in PNW! I'm going up there in May and just booked hotel today, so now I only need to figure out what to wear! Anyone have recommendations of compression socks for the flight? I saw some compression leggings and I'm wondering if those will work even though they don't cover feet. I am honestly so jealous of rainy/dreary weather. It is summer for most of the year here and I'm just over it.

I went to the gym this morning and then went to Costco. Left there unscathed and in under 30 minute, and with what I wanted to get. I did pick up a box of Raisin Bran crunch because it looked good (I've have a couple of bowls throughout the day...no regrets). Compared to other items (giant jars of Nutella), that isn't the worst food to crave/binge on.
Came home and put away the dishes, folded towel, threw a load of laundry in, and ate a decent breakfast. I did a few small chores around the house while the hubs is at a butchering class. I'm just about to lay down for a nap, and then we'll be heading over to a friend's house this evening.
Tomorrow we want to get the garden planted, if not the main garden box. I also want to get caught up on a few work items (self-employed).
June 2017 Siggy Challenge: "You had one job to do!"
Felt like an update would be fun (mostly to you lol)... Its 7pm, ive been awake for 10 hours. Havent left my bed except to pee, get another bottle of water, or eat (bring my food back to bed). Netflix warned be about the clean up that wouldnt do itself and the food that wouldnt cook itself... I keep telling myself ill get up "after this episode" . I still have time though, H finishing work at 3 am and all... Lol I promised my self id get up to do it all at 7.30.
@DMM927 get well soon!!! We ended up house**shopping. So a couple of houses we like. We're just not sure were ready to take the jump yet. still fun though! We also stopped by a new taco spot. Personally, not my favorite. DH enjoyed it. Now we're home, ready to play video games! Ahhhhhh. Weekends
I bought DD a bike helmet today so she can get used to wearing one (she really only goes on her trike in the backyard so maybe we will venture out now). I thought she would throw a fit but now she won't take it off. She's wearing it while watching TV now.
@TallMomma29 I recently moved to CA from the Portland area I keep saying things like "I miss the northwest!" But then I remember how miserable I was in the rain! it is beautiful though (in the summer lol).
@purplestarz I moved from Portland to CA in 2006! Originally just for law school, but I came out of the cave and saw this beaming ball of gas in the sky on a regular basis, and I couldn't bring myself to go back!
DH really wants to move there, but aside from the rain issue the cost of living is getting crazy! I really want to move somewhere significantly cheaper than where we are now (San Diego) when we're ready to really settle down.
@TallMomma29 I didn't get there til 2009, and just left last year. But lived in the Seattle area prior so really not much different! California cost of living has brought me to tears a few times (namely taxes and things like car registrations), but the northwest isn't much cheaper that's for sure. We are in the Sacramento area right now so I'm sure it's not as bad as where you are...but I think I'd rather live in San Diego
I keep telling DH we need to move to Texas or something and save some money lol
Yeah, the cost of living is getting nuts but I feel like it's the same for any moderate-to-big city on the west coast. I do ok with the rain during the winter, it's the spring rain that sucks. Normally we try to plan a trip to Palm Springs or something in March or April just for a break, but we stupidly skipped it this year. All that aside, I still love Portland.
I'm going to a Atlanta for a work trip on Monday and it's supposed to be 80. I'm going to soak it up while I'm there, but will probably be dying of humidity and heat and ready to get back to rainy Portland by Wednesday!
Yes.... the taxes and other fees, gas, cost of food, etc. is pretty terrible here! I would love to move to the south for the amazing cost of living, and we have so many friends and family in the south that we could see more often... but then every time I go and experience humidity I think "omg... no thank you." Moving pretty much anywhere from San Diego is going to be terrrrible weather wise though!
I grew up in Central OR where it hardly ever rains. I moved to the Portland area 3 years ago. I'm used to the rain now but am still so excited for Summer. The cost of living here is ridiculous and I am trying to move but have to wait for something to open with work. It could be awhile! We want to buy a house so bad but not here!

Im sorry that sucks but i couldnt help but laugh out loud imagining kids running through that disaster loool
Trying to play catchups since I missed probably the last 4 days. Been so busy and on the weekends I really try to get quality time with DS and stay off my phone as much as possible.
