Re: Weekly Randoms April 17th

  • Who even eats a hot dog cold though? Like I plan on having hot dogs this summer but they will be grilled first...is that still bad?? I don't do microwave hot dogs.

  • Loading the player...
  • Hot dogs as long as they have been warmed to 140 degrees throughout before consuming they are fine. Which basically means they needs to be steaming hot.
  • @BayCamp @slaven hot dogs are Listeria risks so they needed to be heated enough to limit the risk.  I think some also avoid because of nitrates which aren't good for you.   I had them last time I was pregnant. I love having a hot dog at a baseball game.   I haven't tried them this time so don't know if they make me sick.   It sucks when you can't eat stuff or even thinking about it makes you sick.

@BayCamp I can totally see not eating a gas station hot dog lol. They're heated, cooked as you order but not sure of the exact internal temp. I'll just have to wait till we move and I can grill my own.
@RiverSong15 Does toasting a sandwich at Subway count as heating the meat? (kidding, okay half kidding)

eta @DuchessofCambridge Maybe this should wait until FFFC but when I was a kid I would eat cold hot dogs out of the fridge and peel the skin off with my teeth, eat it, and then eat the hot dog. I think I mostly did it because my mom told me not to.

@slaven I think recommendations vary by OB. Mine is a little more conservative and says no, toasted sandwiches from subway aren't ok. I even have a sheet of paper listing the "approved" subway sandwiches: meatball, steak, and the grilled chicken. So sad. I want a deli sandwich so bad!
  • @RiverSong15 I probably just won't risk it. I was planning on getting lunch while I'm out today and Subway is the healthiest fast option unfortunately. I think they have grilled chicken strips as an option though so that's probably a better route. Forgot about those.

  • @RiverSong15 I didn't realize any subway food was safe I just assumed it was all a nono. The meatball subs are my fave so now I'm feeling pretty excited!  Thanks!
  • I got a delicious soft pretzel with lots of mustard and a Pepsi instead of a hot dog. Salty, savory, mustardy (?) and sweet. Completely ballpark satisfied.

Although caffeine at 9pm was probably a bad choice.
  • @slaven lol I hope all those strange foods in Korea doesn't bother you much. I'm Korean living in Texas and living here for so long I often forget about different and odd practices over there
  • @slaven LOL. That's too funny.
  • @eunhasong I'll be honest, I don't eat too much Korean food. We just don't go out much to begin with. I do love bulgolgi though and beef & leaf restaurants. And the amount of chicken nugget restaurants is crazy (but awesome)! We may be trying bulgolgi pizza this weekend lol.

Ended up having chicken kabob for lunch so the whole subway debacle was a moot point

  • So this afternoon I found some blood droplets on the floor and thought it was from my Maltese's grooming (why I thought some nails were to short). Turns out my Sheltie is in heat. And she's schedule for her spay next Wednesday which probably has to be rescheduled now and will most likely not happen before we move.

  • @RiverSong15 @slaven I've had both heated and unheated deli meat and both LO and I am doing fine. I've also had sex and lived to tell this tale. Do what you think is best, but don't freak yourself out.
It's funny how it's the little things in life that mean the most...not where you live, or what you drive, or the price tag on your clothes... There's no dollar sign on a piece of mind, this I've come to know! *ZBB*

  • I don't understand my body right now. I could have slept in because I am working from home today so I didn't have to factor in my hour long commute. But of course my body is wide awake at 5:30am but now that I'm all settled in and working I want a nap. WTF body? WTF?

  • @slaven noooo! Dogs in heat are such a pain. I wanted to schedule our dog's spay around 4 months, when our vet recommended it, but my mil was very opposed. So DH was like, we can wait. Then the dumb dog went into heat unexpectedly early. While we were on vacation. She bled for almost four weeks. Had to wait several weeks after that ended for surgery. She was only like six months old. It seriously sucked. But I've heard it can be a lot easier and shorter with little dogs, so I'm crossing my fingers for you that that's how it works out for your dog!!

  • @jess0211 that always happens to me too. I can sleep in when I need to get up but I'm wide awake on mornings I can sleep in.

I made a peach smoothie this morning that I was excited about but I put spinach in it like a good adult and now the green color is making me really not want to drink it. First world problems.

  • Is it weird to have a baby shower at 27 weeks? We have a ton of weddings this summer and wedding related events with all of those weddings. Having our shower at 27 weeks would make it so we don't get in the way of everyone else's wedding things...but I know that's kind of early for a shower. I don't mind the extra time personally because it'll give me even more time to organize and get the rest of everything we need especially since we have all these weddings/showers/bachelor/ette parties to go to. Thoughts?

  • @DuchessOfCambridge I don't think it's early. It would occur to me to even question it.

Anyone know now how I can get to the non-mobile site from mobile? I'm tired of being gif-less and I want to do a HDBD comment
  • @DuchessOfCambridge It may be a little unconventional, but I don't see why it would be an issue either. Mine was pretty early too. I was probably 30 weeks? I didn't want to wait either so I could know what I still needed and get everything sorted. Our fellow planners will definitely understand lol

I do think it will really add to the feeling of waiting forever for baby though. Having nothing to do but wait for the last month was hard.

  • @BayCamp @ArtificialRed thanks for the reassurance! I don't want to step on any brides' toes for sure.

@ArtificialRed after the baby shower I'll have two weddings, a bachelorette weekend, and all four of our "Preparing for Baby" classes. That schedule makes me feel like everything will fly by! If anything maybe that last month is when I will actually have time to prepare for baby

  • Have been spotting a little this morning so my OB wanted me to get a blood draw first before maybe coming in for a US. Pregnant lady taking my blood asked me why I was shaking and I told her I was just stressed because I am spotting and she says "Wow it must be really hard to have me taking your blood then, huh?" ..... you little twat. Yes I'm having an effing meltdown, so thank you for pointing out your super beautiful pregnancy. Ridiculous.
  • @ugoglencoco ugh I'm sorry she was so insensitive. if anything she should understand even more how you're feeling!

  • @DuchessOfCambridge I had my shower at 28 weeks. Totally fine IMO.

@ugoglencoco Wow. So incredibly insensitive. I hope all is well with you.

@ugoglencoco Why would she say that?!?!  I swear some people don't think!  Take care - hope everything goes well!

  • @ugoglencoco What a B! I would have said something back about how hurtful her comment was. It wouldn't make you feel better, but it might have prevented her from saying something as insensitive to someone else.

@DuchessOfCambridge Whenever works for you and your host is totally fine. I wouldn't worry about it. And it's super sweet that you're trying not to step on any toes!

  • @ugoglencoco sorry she was such a TW. Hope your appointment goes well
  • @ugoglencoco she's a jerk! And I just realized what your screen name is and I smiled  :)
  • @DuchessOfCambridge my coworkers threw me a surprise shower at 22 weeks because we were moving that summer and it was the end of the school year. I don't think it's too early at that stage! Especially if you know what you're having (if you're finding out).
  • @slaven your dog is so cute! My crazy pitbull Lucy was in heat last week. Now she is 9 and she seems to spot very little compared to past few years but then she was marking like crazy. Ahh good old bulgogi, my fiance is American and he got hooked on few Korean foods. He loves bulgogi, short ribs, spicy pork, some of fried chicken and friend pork cutlet. I hope all the packing and the move goes smoothly
  • @BayCamp how did you manage to post in HDBD?
@ugoglencoco I would have lost it for sure, that's so rude.
  • @bcashaw I used my iPad and went to through safari instead on the app and I finally broke free the mobile site that way

Super random but I really hate my boss.  I was in the process of trying to get a new job when I found out I was pregnant and now it makes it difficult because I know I'm going to have lots of appointments and that I'll be on leave so I'm a less desirable candidate.  I just really wish he would leave.  I hate talking to him ...hate talking to him.  I dread having to tell him about being pregnant because he is so awkward but I have a review next week so I'll likely mention it then.

  • ugoglencoco stupid people are stupid...sorry.

@DuchessOfCambridge, I don't think a 27 week shower bad.  If anyone says anything, let it tactfully drop that you didn't want to conflict with your friend's weddings and they'll be straightened out.   ;)
