@brooklyngirl18 I am so sorry for the stress you're facing with your ER. The person treating you definitely matters and I hate that it may end up being with someone that you don't trust. On top of all that, you have 60 follies?! I am not familiar with what all of your options are, but I would definitely speak to the office and find out if you can slow down/delay the ER until your doc is back and your estrogen is at a good level. The added stress is the last thing you need right now. I will keep you in my thoughts.

@fivetimesnoluck thank you. I've known all along i was at risk for ohss because i have pcos and a 9.6 AMH but as of last week I had about 35. The dr said he starts worrying at 40 and now I'm almost at 60. I still havent heard about my estrogen level which is making me nervous. I'm going to give them a call now.

@brooklyngirl18 - I can't believe that other doctor said that to you! i would have complained to the office/to your primary RE! Has your RE started you on cabergoline? Mine had me take that for about a week or so to counteract the effects of ohss...
@brooklyngirl18 I'm so sorry for this stress you're facing and am shocked that dr said those things to you! I'm hopeful maybe you can get it pushed to when your regular dr is back in. I can't believe how many follicles. Thinking of you big time, and praying you can have peace of mind and some other options presented. Hugs!
@caseyw8784 MY re said he will call something in, probably what you mentioned, to start taking the night of the retrieval and then for 8 days after. I called and told them I'd like to push back a day or so and I'm waiting for a call back and for my estrogen levels.

ok so my estrogen is 2670 so my dr feels comfortable continuing with an egg retrieval wednesday. I'm hoping it's not the dr from my ectopic, I explained the situation to him and he understood but said that sounds very out of character for that dr so whatever. Hopefully it'll be a different dr but at this point I just want these eggs out and to get back to normal.

I just got the call and am surprised- my estrogen level rose from 559 Saturday morning to 1022 this morning so my ER is Wednesday at 10am! My DH has his last big class for grad school Wednesday at 8:30 so just sent an urgent email to his advisor asking how he can handle. We were praying it would be thursday or Friday - can you say stress? I'd prefer to use a fresh vs frozen sample for him. Nervous on this all yikes! I asked if there was any way to push to thursday and they said no.
Just came back after a week or so away since I've been awaiting AF to start stimming again. So much much going on! Whatever your stages, and wherever on the spectrum of emotions you are....ladies, I must say... YOU ARE ALL AMAZING! I am constantly in awe of the strength you all have, the courage you all possess and the support you all lend.
My heart goes out to those who have had struggles and pain this cycle, I am sorry. I know each body and cycle is different, but there is little solace in that knowledge (from my first cycle, I understand those extreme highs and horrible lows). Virtual hugs to you all and I know you will make it through, bada$$ ladies that you are.
Congrats to all who have had their ER and ETs successfully! So many already (and even more on tap shortly!)
GL to all those awaiting news and about to take next steps as well. Waiting...waiting. Yes, IF is def an exercise in patience.
Wrapping my head around the idea of 60 follicles. @brooklyngirl18 you are a WARRIOR! Wow. FX you can see your reg RE and the meds reduce that OHSS. Sounds like they are getting you something to help.
AFM, Flo's here. She arrived with a vengeance this morning (8 days late). Tomorrow I go in for baseline. Ugh in some serious pain today (I'm sure being 8 days late and on 12 days worth of estradiol patches (6) didn't help either). Here's to finally being able to open the med drawer on the fridge again!
@Momifbysea ahhh exciting!!! Hopefully the appointment will be later in the day and DH can be there in person. @cmiller73 sorry about AF but that's good you can get things started again.

@Momifbysea I was in the same boat with almost having DH out of town for ER. Huge stresser for sure, so I am super happy things got worked out for you! If AF came last week mine would have been in Vegas hahah. Congrats on the awesome update!
Well, I'm officially in the TWW! We got photos of our two embryos, which are both hatching at 5 days-- I swear, they're the cutest little blobs, haha!
The transfer was not comfortable, but I managed just fine because I was so focused on staying still and "willing" the catheter and embryos into the right place. The speculum hurt more than anything (they always do), and I've had my cervix pummeled for so many IUIs now, that it was no big deal to have it poked.
One nice thing was that the nurse who was there for almost all of the IUIs, who is really sweet, was there for this, pushing the ultrasound against my belly and poor full little bladder. We hadn't seen much of her for the last year, since she's not involved in the IVF prep.
So now I have instructions to go about my life, just no aerobics or mountain climbing or anything. And I guess I'm PUPO, so no sushi or alcohol!
I've been trying to relax-- I've got until my pregnancy test on 4/27 to *keep* trying to relax!
Me- 39 (turning 40 in April), TTC for the first time ever (since Jan 2015), low ovarian reserve
Married 3/14/14 to my wonderful wife, but her sperm count is rather low
TTC with frozen donor sperm and science
7 IUIs, 7 BFNs. 2 IVF attempts, both cancelled and converted to IUI, both BFNs. Decided that my tired old ovaries are ready to retire. Next step- reciprocal IVF, using my wife's eggs, my uterus! fresh 5 day transfer (2 embryos) 4/17/17- BFP! Identical twins "due" 1/2/17 (but anticipated arrival sometime December)
Just got the call that we got ONE PGS normal - this is actually 1/6 as they were able to biopsy two more after I received Friday's report. Super grateful for the one (though of course I wish the odds were better - it is grade 3). Today was the EDD for our first pregnancy (and it also happens to be DH's birthday), so we appreciate the good news of at least one. We took the day off and hiked up to *TW* the burial site of our lost little girl this morning (DH basically tricked me into walking 8 miles RT - when really we could have almost driven up to it from the other side).
So now we have to decide whether to transfer the one or to proceed with another cycle (and with whom if cycling). At the very least we'll probably inseminate those frozen artemis618-sicles & test to get a better idea of where we stand.
Keep the good news coming, ladies!

@brooklyngirl18 60 follies...I feel like you must be wearing nothing but dresses and walking around carrying your pelvis to hold up your ovaries! Your estrogen level is good so try not to stress - hopefully you just feel super bloated afterwards.
@Hopeful_mom My beta is in one week - 4/24. I would like to think I won't POAS but I'm sure I will end up doing one in the next few days to check for a negative so if I get a positive over the weekend I will trust it more. I mean, I'm not too anxious yet today but I feel like next weekend will be torture.
@Momifbysea that's great news! @klake42 congrats on PUPO. I hope at least one of those little embies sticks. @artemis618 I'm sorry the number wasn't higher but FX the one is all you need.

congrats on PUPO @klake42 . @artemis618 we had the same questions. I said if we didn't get at least 4 normals I would cycle again to bank while I had insurance that would partial pay. That would determine if I would cycle again. The cost vs inseminating the frozen eggs. It's rough on eggs to thaw, imseminate and refreze and then thaw again when you use them.
@brooklyngirl18- Your estradiol is less than 3000, so you're less likely to develop severe OHSS, so that's great! I'm amazed that with 60 follicles your estradiol level is still under 3000!
@artemis618- Congrats on a PGS normal embryo! I remember reading that grading doesn't really mean much, if PGS normal, then it's good. Deciding on whether to bank or not is a tough one. When I first started IVF back in October of last year, I was on board with banking, but now in my third IVF cycle... I'm exhausted.

My E2 level has gone up again despite cutting off FSH since Saturday night. Blood work again tomorrow, but I'm really scared for OHSS. I've been reading all the papers on coasting. In a way I'm glad I'm not working this week because I can't think about anything else at the moment.

@brooklyngirl18- woah 60 thats insane, i hope your body is feeling ok! I know u wanted to push it a day but i would go with what my RE says on this one. feel so bad for ur RE too thats just so awful as they will need time to cope with such a lose as well. @cmiller73- welcome back Sorry AF was so late but our bodies are the ones in charge! wishing u a great cycle ahead!
@KLake42- yay! big congrats u made it! Sending u sticky vibes and take it easy and let them get all comfy cosy in there
@artemis618- I was getting concerned when I didn't see your post, yay for a pgs normal! I'm sorry more didn't join the party, does your RE have any words of wisdom as to why? You did so well its a bit frustrating but so thrilled that you did get some good news!! Did you find out the gender? Oh and dont worry about the grading, I hear very good outcomes with lower grades. Its true once they hear the pgs normal embryo the grading almost goes out the window. Glad you have a fighter on your hands! Did you get the full report? Are you still going to bank, its so tough I know!! Ash_SE made some very good points on your frozen eggs, you have some tough decisions ahead.

@cashewchicken I can't believe it's below 3000 also, I'm thinking many of my follicles are empty which is fine by me at 60! I was hoping my dr would test it again today but he didn't mention anything so I'm just going to have to trust him. I feel like my ovaries are about to burst but this time tomorrow it will all be over. I'm sorry you're worried about ohss, I'm right there with you. What is you E2? When is you're retrieval for again? My dr prescribed me a medication to take after the retrieval and for another week to reduce the symptoms. I'm not sure the name but I'll let you know later. Maybe you can mention it to your dr to see if you can take it also. He also had me do 75% of the hcg shot which is supposed to help ohss symptoms.
I'm all confirmed for the egg retrieval tomorrow at 10. I took the hcg trigger last night and start antibiotics tonight. so nervous and excited to get this part of the process over. We will be doing freeze all and pgs testing with an FET asap. I'm thinking late may.

@brooklyngirl18 my ER is 10am tomorrow too, although I'm central time zone. Thinking of you and your many follicles!!!
@artemis618 I'm so happy for your PGS normal, that has got to be such a relief.
@Hopeful_mom yes I'm hugely relieved he will be there! We had a frozen sample from a few weeks back as a backup plan but prefer to use fresh. I guess I'm thinking the less freezing and thawing the better? So last night we were exhausted but I reminded him we had to BD because it had to be at least a couple days before he gives his Wednesday sample. Okay BD while bloated on these drugs is not sexy, lol!
I took my 2 Ovidrel triggers last night and this morning don't feel nearly as bloated. I hope we didn't miss a window or something. I'm not 100 percent trusting their timing in this retrieval. My estrogen was only 1022 yesterday morning and I would have liked another day or two of stims to see if any more might grow but I know I should remember it only takes one and be happy with my 8. This is so stressful!
Went in for my 2nd monitoring appointment. My follicle count has dropped from 12 to 11 that seem viable, BUT they are growing now after they doubled my meds over the weekend. My estrogen went up to 475 and my follicles are in the 7-13 mm range. Staying on the increased dose of meds, and back in for another u/s tomorrow (Wednesday). My nurse thinks Saturday or Sunday for ER.
Side note/question- Yesterday (Monday) was the first day I started really feeling really uncomfortable around my middle section. IF my ER holds off until the weekend, we have concert tickets to an outdoor (lawn seating) concert Friday night. Am I crazy to even think about trying to go if I'm that close to ER? I'm imagining by a day or two pre-retrieval I'm going to be a lot more miserable than I am now and sitting on the ground for a few hours isn't going to be very feasible. Or am I overdramatizing?

@momifbysea yay good luck!! I can't wait to hear how your retrieval goes. OMG i can't believe you BD last night. I would've hit DH over the head with a bat if he tried to come near me

@brooklyngirl18 lol it was pretty incomfortable but I'm stubborn and in my mind after all these shots I want the best possible sample quality Wednesday! Yes I've become a crazy woman on these drugs! Still freaking out about why after the trigger I feel no pain or bloating today, is that weird?
@Hopeful_mom- E2 does go up with more follicles maturing but I cut off fsh so it shouldn't be growing that much. Sunday my E2 was 6500, so I stopped FSH and then yesterday it was 8400. The number is way too high and I'm at a greater risk for OHSS. With the number so high, my RE is considering reducing the HCG dose. I have a problem with low % mature eggs, so I'm afraid that reduction in hcg is going to compromise the quality of eggs. My first cycle I got 22 eggs of which 10 were mature, and the second cycle I got 15 of which only 3 were mature. I have a lot of follicles but how many of them are really mature, I don't know.

@brooklyngirl18- my retrieval is not scheduled yet. It depends on what my E2 level is today. My guess is that the RE will order trigger tonight if the E2 drops below 8400. That was the level yesterday. I'm hoping it dropped quite a bit (in ~5000 range) and can dose higher dose of HCG. I'll ask the RE about the drug. I'm willing to do anything at this point to avoid OHSS. Good luck on retrieval tomorrow! So exciting!

@momifbysea I totally hear you. AFM, today I had my day 7 u/s and blood work. Right now my estradiol is 389, and I have two 14mm follies on my right side along with a few smaller ones, and on my left side there's a few 10-11mm ones. The nurse said they would like to see at least three for ER, and they are upping my gonal-f dose from 300 to 450, and tomorrow morning I'm starting Centrotide.
I am slightly worried about a cancellation, as the nurse said that sometimes the first IVF cycle is trial-and-error, but I'm trying to be positive even as I feel like an emotional mess. Grow follies, grow, please!
I go for another u/s and more bloodwork on Thursday--hoping for more improvement by then!
@sm05-2 sending positive thoughts for those follies to grow! It seems positive that they're relatively close in size though doesn't it, so they grow as a group versus one taking off? Sending good thoughts!
@Hopeful_mom We did not find out the gender (with just one, we'll keep the surprise - also not to be negative, but we don't want to get too attached should it not stick around), nor did we get the full (probably depressing) report. My Dr's office tends not to give out a ton of information. We don't love our odds with just the one (my girlfriend whose baby shower is at the end of this month miscarried a PGS normal embryo last year before this pregnancy - it definitely happens), so I'll start OPKs again around CD10 with the plan to start the lupron for suppression around CD21 for IVF#3 (this time OOP). We have a phone appointment with the RE who has my frozen artemis618sicles this Friday afternoon. We were considering cycling elsewhere depending on the outcome of this second cycle, but we feel like we're okay with the current place for fresh as long as we do all IVF and no ICSI. It's in network and even if I only have coverage for the office visits, ultrasounds, bloodwork, (hopefully anesthesia?), and meds, that's something.
Was it you who discussed the idea of transferring a frostie after a subsequent retrieval? As far as my insurance requirement that I have a transfer within 90 days of my second egg retrieval, my Dr. said that assuming I'm not at crazy risk for OHSS (seems unlikely - I took the Cabergoline both times just to be safe, but have been pretty much fine), we could potentially transfer the frostie 5 days after the next retrieval if needed. I can't remember who brought up that idea a little while ago. Of course I want to be knocked up ASAP, but we'd have to be okay forgoing a potential 4th cycle for a little bit regardless of the results of the third one. But if insurance is going to *make* me transfer within 90 days I wouldn't be able to fit another one in by then anyway - it'd just be if the timing was such that we couldn't do the frozen transfer in time.
@Ash_SE We want to inseminate the frozen eggs and hopefully test any resulting embryos - though it is asking a lot of them, after having this batch tested and having only 1/6 come up normal, there's no way I'd transfer without testing first even though it's only one sample. The thing that concerns me still is the method of sperm selection for ICSI. I'd really prefer to wait till this RE offers PICSI (if he doesn't already - seems like not too many clinics around here at least do), as DH is 42 and though his count was 128 million at last check, morphology was at like 7% so there are A LOT of bad ones the embryologist could pick. Even IMSI would give them a closer look. But PICSI is probably the closest thing to DH's "sperm obstacle course" we'll find. Probably I'm just paranoid, but my eggs (especially the good ones) are so few and precious at this age, and even back then I only got 9 mature.
@cashewchicken I'll be starting suppression for my third cycle next month. I feel like IVF has been all I've thought about this year, and the year is just flying by. I'm also feeling pretty exhausted, but I definitely feel the time pressure to keep going while I can 'cause it's not like eggs tend to get better with time, and I may not have the opportunity later. At first I thought I'd just do the two for which I had insurance coverage, but then I got no blasts from the first. If this last one also went poorly, we'd just have taken it as a sign that we wouldn't even get any to test which was the entire reason we went straight to IVF. But much like gambling, this last cycle gave us just enough hope to dump a bunch of money into another cycle. *sigh* But I'm thinking four retrievals is probably my limit. Damn the numbers game...
Remind me what protocols you've been on again. Is it not ideal for you to do one with which you could trigger with Lupron? (It's apparently not for me, but I'm hardly at risk for OHSS). That is annoying that you brought your concern about it up in advance, but unfortunately a lot of this is guessing how our bodies will respond on the doctors' parts.
Thanks, @Momifbysea, and I like your way of looking at it. I feel a little dismayed because when they counted my follicles during testing, they counted 17, so maybe the others are just being shy. I just hope this is normal for this stage. We're doing an FET, and probably the earliest that would happen is June, so thinking of one cycle lost and starting another feels overwhelming when the FET cycle for me is so long to begin with because of PGS testing. Okay, trying not to jump too ahead of myself--staying positive, and everyone who has been through this more than once rocks!
artemis618 great memory, yes i did mention transferring a frostie after ER, I think it can happen but you need to just start prepping and taking the meds for it right after ER as you would start taking meds for a fresh transfer is my guess. Crazy that insurance dictates what we have to do! I'm glad you were given hope to keep on going. I is so hard indeed! I'm sitting here thinking its crazy i'm already in ivf #5 WTH! It is interesting that you did better with IVF vs ICSI, i need to google pcisi haven't heard of that before. I was overly interested in which eggs were doing better. I got more with icsi but only by 1 and technically my best grade was with IVF, but all abnormal so really i shouldnt be comparing. My normal girl was through icsi so who knows. OOP sucks but at least i do have some coverage for the visits and blood work, IVF alone is probably 15k add everything else and you're easily at 30k.
@brooklyngirl18 and @Momifbysea so excited for you ladies! Best of luck with your retrievals tomorrow! Dont worry if you're not feeling bloated its different for all! PS Im like you @Momifbysea i want the best sample too, not when i have to do all the work though
@sm05-2 hope ur follies keep up the good work and grow together. Not sure why your nurse is worrying you. Your follies are still pretty close they should all catch up, its still early. For now it does sound like you have a good 3/5 growing. I did go to my first ER with knowing i only had 3 follies. A fourth one popped up even though they didn't like the look of it. I was fortunate all 3 good looking ones fertilized. I did the 3dt and even though I MC twins i did have a normal one in the group. Just try to remember its quality over quantity. I'm talling myself that, i got 10 last cycle and am walking away with zero. Just stay positive you're doing fine!
@cashewchicken a bit frustrating u have to tell your drs your concerns and not vice versa. Really hoping your levels go down and you can make it to ER. It still sounds like you have good eggs ready in there so hoping that is the case!
Dragonfly6191 its really different for everyone...when i had a few eggs it didn't bother me as much as when i had the 10 growing. It hurt me the most when i would first sit down and then i would settle in. Its really how you feel the day if.
AFM: I still have 2 good size follies on the right and left growing, I have 2 at 12.5 on the left so hoping with another day of stemming that we can get those 2 mature. I have some other smaller ones but they wont make it in time at this point. Since I'm not triggering tonight I have a feeling that I'm looking at a weekend ER, possible friday. We shall see what tomorrow brings. I hate when i feel like i'm living at the clinic but it stinks that since i'm not working I actually took a nap this afternoon as my sleep is just so off, my exhausted!!

So much activity on here lately, I am so excited for everyone!
AFM - I had an ultrasound and bloodwork today, my lining was 12 and everything looked perfect to have my frozen transfer next Tuesday! Question - I am planning on transferring 2 embryos, I asked today how they are typically chosen and I was told usually the 2 best are done unless otherwise requested. Of the embryos I have frozen, I have 2 5AA; 2 5BB; 4 4AA; 3 3AA; and a few lower quality ones. I am 32 (no children now) and am hoping to have more children in the future, therefore I am not crazy about using my 2 best. I was thinking about doing 1 of the 5AAs & maybe 1 of the 4AAs (since there are quite a few of those). What would you do?

@cmiller73 sorry about AF but that's good you can get things started again.

@klake42 .
@Momifbysea- congrats on ER Wednesday!
@cmiller73- Yay for AF! I'm happy for you that you get to start your stim cycle! It's always exciting to start a new cycle.
@KLake42- Congrats on PUPO!

@brooklyngirl18 and @Momifbysea GL with your retrievals tomorrow!

@brooklyngirl18 and @Momifbysea so excited for you ladies! Best of luck with your retrievals tomorrow! Dont worry if you're not feeling bloated its different
for all!
