Borrowing from randoms, I don't get the appeal of home visits and am glad we don't have them.
The last thing I want in the first few weeks is some stranger coming into my house. We have the 2 day, 2 week, and 1 month appointments which work just fine. I think having an excuse to get out of the house is actually a good thing.
@WombThereItIs, I know you said food things don't count today, but I've had a container of cream cheese frosting hiding in the back of my fridge and I take a spoonful every day... no shame... and I figure if I'm skipping the carrot cake (and going right for the frosting, the best part) then I'm actually saving calories. And, nope, this isn't the first container I've dipped into this pregnancy.
Non food related...a few times this week when walking our tiny dog, I didn't pick up after her because it was so small no one could see it and it was in a bunch of leaves by the lake so I just covered it up. I can't bend down like that anymore. I make her get on the couch to put her harness and leash on. SorryNotSorry. (I am very much for picking up after your dogs, just not possible anymore most mornings)

My FFFC: I am legit a little nervous that this LO will not be as cute as DS. Facebook has fueled this in me recently seeing other peoples kids have significant discrepancies in the looks department. I am officially a horrible person and feel like a jerk. *inside baby I know I will think you are perfect*
edit: I just wanted to note it wasn't anyone here. Old high school friends and family friends. Doesn't make me a better person, but I had to clarify.
@louise_belcher, I had the same concern! It definitely doesn't make you a bad person. Except DS was NOT cute for the first few days...like, it was hard to get a pic where he didn't look scary, but he got cute pretty quick, haha...
My FFFC: I have milked back pain from my epidural site (it's there, just not THAT bad) and avoided changing all diapers while in the hospital...I feel like it's the least DH can do after what I just went through.
I have no filter anymore. I told someone the other day that I am 8 months pregnant, over this semester of school, and can't wait for it to be done. It just so happens that the person I told this to was the Dean of my college.
Also, I had a piece of cake for breakfast everyday last week.
@BabyMC517 Bending down is so hard anymore! I told DH at the beginning of this pregnancy that my OB said I can't pick up dog poo while pregnant. I really just wanted a break from cleaning up after my two 60+ pound dogs.
*snip* @BabyMC517 Bending down is so hard anymore! I told DH at the beginning of this pregnancy that my OB said I can't pick up dog poo while pregnant. I really just wanted a break from cleaning up after my two 60+ pound dogs.
H usually picks it up when we take her together and I have him walk her when he gets home from work. The mornings suck because he leaves early and it makes her think its time to get up when I don't need to get up for at least another 45 if not longer. Even if he took her out then she'd still whine at me to get up and feed her. I make her lay down, I'm a horrible person, but she can wait!
"A day without laughter is a day wasted." ~Charlie Chaplin
@BabyMC517 yes yes yes! Our little chihuahua has a weird tendency to poop on plants anyway (he'll go to lift his leg to pee on a plant and is like oh, pooping instead!) so it's already kind of out of the way. I feel kind of bad because we are in a straight up neighborhood with lots of people and dogs, but I I only do it when he poops well out of the way and hey it's fertilizer right?!
My FFFC is I've had a frienemy I've needed to cut ties with for awhile and I've been 100% using my pregnancy as the perfect excuse for literally never texting or seeing her. Within the last 3 years she's become an insane mom and the most snooty, sanctimonious person ever and I could not stand the thought of having to listen to her give me advice I didn't ask for. She starting giving our mutual pregnant friend advice on parenting who already has a 5 yo so I couldn't imagine how overbearing she would be to me, a FTM. She also constantly brags about how skinny she was during her pregnancy (she looked normal to me) and constantly gossips about how fat all our friends have gotten over time. It's gotten so bad a few friends have a code word when she's being crazy. She told me she was hosting my shower and I said oh my MIL is doing it and she says "Well IM CO-HOSTING THEN". She ended up being the person who picks up my trash from presents. Bye, Felicia!!!!
@BabyMC517 My dogs don't even move when DH gets up for work. They know they have to wait for me which can sometimes be hours after he leaves. Also picking up poop, that's why I'm so glad we moved from the city. They have shock collars on so I open the door and let them be outside all day and they can do their business and I don't have to pick it up. Or if I'm really lazy I open the garage door using my phone app and they come and go through the dog door. They have a pretty cushy life.
@Louise_Belcher fiancé and I are constantly saying we don't know how this baby can even come close to how awesome DD is, (sorry little buddy, you've got some adorable, awesome shoes to fill)
@swe2 I think she's also getting used to a new routine. She used to stay with me for a little bit, or if she did get up with him she would go out and sit with my mom on the lanai. Since moving its thrown her off! I'm sure we'll establish a routine soon, well really we'll have to with baby coming soon! I told H he's probably going to have to take her out when he gets up once little man is here. I wish I had your set up though! So much easier! We used to just be able to open the back door and she'd go in the yard, but now we're in an apartment and have to walk her...sigh
@mspacman34 thanks! I've definitely seen large poop left and it irritates me! Like that is a huge a$$ pile of poop right in the middle of where people would walk there dogs AND the trash can with bags the complex provides is literally a few feet away!
@sweaterboots maybe its a little dog thing because Stella will sometimes do what we call a "twofer" where she ends up doing both at the same time haha but she hasn't gone on a plant specifically, but then again she doesn't lift a leg like yours does!

Thanks for the gif!
And im dying about the looks thing. Like i seriously laughed out loud. Glad I'm not alone in worrying about this! We have serveral friends who have kids that are just a very strange combo of mom and dad in the looks department! We have both imagined our LO having all our worst characteristics combined. But don't worry baby we love you so much already it won't matter! Sorry if our DNA made you un-cute.
@Louise_Belcher I used to work with little kids, and actually often the funniest looking babies turned into the cutest toddlers! Huge eyes are adorable in toddlers, a little creepy in babies. Bald babies sometimes end up with gorgeous hair as a toddler, etc. Maybe this is a confession, but it used to make me really happy when one of the homely looking babies turned super adorable. Especially when other children's parents made comments about it
I feel like whatever you got made fun of as a kid sometimes ends up your best feature as an adult! Big eyes, long legs, too skinny, full lips, etc. I got called frog eyes or bug eyes all the time. I am very short too so I got called midget. Whatever!
Have we done any threads of our own baby or toddler pics? Or like one of us and one of DH? Might be fun for us to compare when our babies arrive!
My husband keeps complaining and bitching about anything and everything. Yet doesn't take into account that I'm 34 effing weeks pregnant. His life has changed zero percent since I've been pregnant and he got pissed when I said he wasn't picking up the slack at home. Bro is about to get bitch slapped.
Eta: I realize now this comment doesn't really belong here but I was reading this thread and annoyed so I replied here. Maybe to make it fit my FFFC is I may or may not Bitch slap my husband today.
@Kipperoo and @BeachMommy2B and @rkstro2 Thanks for letting me know I am not alone! I am sure I will think this LO is perfect and totally expect him to look a bit funny for a while after birth. DS came out with a swollen face and giant red blotches around his eyes that lasted a few days and newborns have a kinda "so odd they are cute" period. I think my brain keeps jumping to middle school/high school and how a discrepancy would effect them. They will likely be 1 (or 2) grades apart and are the same sex and I just want them to be treated the same. I think I wouldn't have thought about it so much if they were different sexes. My brother is totally the better looking of the two of us, but we are 6 years apart and different sexes so it totally didn't matter. I think I am just looking for things to worry about at this point. I'll go shut up now.
Loved catching up on these. I cant imagine that these babies will be as adorable to me as i think dd is, but somehow im sure all of our new babies will be precious
Also, love the treat yo self gif!
My fffc... I think ive given up on underwear. I finally got maternity underwear but they just aggravate my already itchy stomach sooooo.... Hope the babes come soon bc i dont like having nothing on
My H and I were actually talking about what if we didn't think the baby was cute. I mean, I'm sure we will. But sometimes, babies just look like grumpy old men. And what if people were constantly like "oh, your baby is so adorable!" and we knew it just wasn't true. Would we call them on it? Probably not, but we'd know they were just being nice.
Add me to the "I hope this LO is cute" train. But more than that, I don't know what I will do if this one is not as smart as DD.
She was speaking in full sentences at 18 months, potty trained before 2 years old, and is the most articulate toddler I know. I fear that if this one isn't the same way that it will be very hard for them.

So in addition to Grater's ice cream, cream cheese frosting just got added to my grocery list. And if DH tries to eat some, I will cut a bitch.

That's the funniest thing I read today! TY for that!
OK, IMO, so it has to be the Betty Crocker Rich & Creamy Cream Cheese frosting. I had my hubbs pick up this last one and I literally wrote on the list "no substitutions!" and also texted him to say "if you can't find it, don't get anything else" LOL.
@WombThereItIs: Much love for you, for basically giving the whole class here a free pass on the food thing, for the sole reason being that we're large and in charge.
Re dog poop: I totally understand the not picking up b/c you can't bend over, or leaving it lie if it's in some leaves and off to the side and guaranteed that no one would step in it, that's all good. Been there. But if I see you out walking your dog, and he goes in the middle of the sidewalk, and you do nothing about it and start walking away, I will quick-step over to you with a nice smile and a "oh, you must need a bag! here, take one of mine!" and literally hand you a bag. Because, seriously, eww.... And, also, grow up and be a responsible dog owner.
I FFFConfess that I absolutely have that wonder of "whaaaaat will our progeny look like"--I'm cool with my face and my husband's face but we ALL have seen those families with perfectly reasonable looking parents and then the kids get this specific mishmash of features that may be unobjectionable individually but somehow the combination is, just, wonky? You know, that.
My real FFFC is that this fetus has had one caffeine drink every single morning of her little life--tea during the first trimester, coffee ever since. And it baffles me when people mention drinking decaf just for the pregnancy. (If you've already had some earlier that day I get it, but ONLY decaf is like whyyyy?)
@cato99 I haven't had much caffeine since being pregnant. I didn't have any for a really long time at the beginning and will have ice tea every now and then for something different than water. I didn't have it at first because it can be a stimulant to your uterus and I had a m/c a few months prior to this LO and I'm paranoid. I know there is a certain amount you can have during the day, but I just haven't had any. If I have coffee, I tend to do half caf if anything. I get what you're saying though...not sure why you'd just drink decaf unless you really just like coffee for its taste and not the effects of the caffeine.
"A day without laughter is a day wasted." ~Charlie Chaplin
@cato99 I always drank decaf with my first but with this LO, I give no fucks. There is no way I could keep up with a 3 year old on decaf.
FFFC: During 1st tri, DH would sleep in the guestroom if he had a few drinks because the smell of alcohol made me nauseous. It no longer makes me nauseous, but I never informed DH because I enjoy one night a week of spreading out by myself.
@BabyMC517 that makes total sense! The second after I posted I was like,
me: "have you considered... that maybe not everyone WANTS caffeine or coffee every single morning" also me: "....that's a....thing?" both mes: "oooooooh now I get it"
FFFC: MH sleeps in the guest room most nights (we did this a lot even before being KU, since he's a light sleeper and a horrible snorer and I also snore a bit myself...). I give him trouble for it, because I generally prefer to sleep next to my husband. I've kept it up, but I would be so annoyed if he actually wanted to sleep with me right now. I literally take up 70% of our king sized bed with all my pillows and everything.
I avoided caffeine in 1st tri due to the M/C risk. For some reason, when I'm pregnant, I don't get the caffeine withdrawal headaches I get when I'm not pregnant. So after not having it for the first 3 months, I had it once and it made me super jittery. I haven't gone back just because I can't focus when I have that much caffeine and not because I'm worried about the pregnancy aspect. I fully intend to work it back in to my daily routine post-birth. I don't understand the moms that avoid it while breastfeeding.
@cato99 I've stuck to only decaf this entire pregnancy. The silly reason I gave it up was that I didn't want to ever have to limit the amount of chocolate I could eat in a day if I'd gone over my "allotted" caffeine amount. Actually, though, I found out I was a lot less tired mid-day when I cut out my morning caffeine. Regardless, I've been looking forward to hopping back on that wagon soon, and I'm sure my new-mom self will appreciate the real stuff again.
@SKZW absolutely agree on the dog dookie, NO ONE likes Land Mines! Generally I'm with DH and he'll pick up for me. If I'm alone I always pick up from our big dog, and only ignore from cheewawa when he's pooped in some ground cover that no one walks in anyway! If it's out in the open I suck it up buttercup and pick it up. When I'm not pregnant, I'll pick up a rogue turd if someone else was rude and left it out in the open, which is gross and cold, but whatever!
I was pretty much off caffeine before getting pregnant because I was pretty hooked and needed a break. However, now that I AM pregnant, I let myself have a Diet Mt. Dew each day I work (2 days/week). I know its full of chemicals but it's so delicious. Mmmmm

That's super civic-minded of you! I hereby name you Saint Sweaterboots
FFFC: Pick a birth month board and stick with it. I'm a self admitted dirty lurker amongst all boards... but I just don't get the need to respond or be a part of two different groups. There are plenty of us due at the end of the month and you can still contribute! Just like there are plenty of moms who have now had March/April babies or will be induced in April. I wouldn't expect any of our end of the month ladies to all of a sudden jump ship for June just because they go overdue!

Ate it- asked for more food- ate that- and fell back asleep until 2! He took our son to the playground so I ate lunch by myself then cam back to bed and just took another nap.
