  • Borrowing from randoms, I don't get the appeal of home visits and am glad we don't have them.

The last thing I want in the first few weeks is some stranger coming into my house. We have the 2 day, 2 week, and 1 month appointments which work just fine. I think having an excuse to get out of the house is actually a good thing.

We are big, we are tired, we are hungry. Treat yo self!

My husband knows commenting on my consumption habits is basically an attempt at "suicide by wife"
Haha if I could mobile gif I would totally break out all the "treat yo self" gifs right now!!  I love it!

@BabyMC517 Bending down is so hard anymore! I told DH at the beginning of this pregnancy that my OB said I can't pick up dog poo while pregnant. I really just wanted a break from cleaning up after my two 60+ pound dogs.
H usually picks it up when we take her together and I have him walk her when he gets home from work. The mornings suck because he leaves early and it makes her think its time to get up when I don't need to get up for at least another 45 if not longer. Even if he took her out then she'd still whine at me to get up and feed her. I make her lay down, I'm a horrible person, but she can wait!

  • @BabyMC517 Haha, you are not a horrible person! And you are not the only one that has made their dog wait in the morning to get up!
  • @BabyMC517 My dogs don't even move when DH gets up for work. They know they have to wait for me which can sometimes be hours after he leaves. Also picking up poop, that's why I'm so glad we moved from the city. They have shock collars on so I open the door and let them be outside all day and they can do their business and I don't have to pick it up. Or if I'm really lazy I open the garage door using my phone app and they come and go through the dog door. They have a pretty cushy life.
  • @swe2 I think she's also getting used to a new routine. She used to stay with me for a little bit, or if she did get up with him she would go out and sit with my mom on the lanai. Since moving its thrown her off! I'm sure we'll establish a routine soon, well really we'll have to with baby coming soon! I told H he's probably going to have to take her out when he gets up once little man is here. I wish I had your set up though! So much easier! We used to just be able to open the back door and she'd go in the yard, but now we're in an apartment and have to walk her...sigh

@mspacman34 thanks! I've definitely seen large poop left and it irritates me! Like that is a huge a$$ pile of poop right in the middle of where people would walk there dogs AND the trash can with bags the complex provides is literally a few feet away!

@sweaterboots maybe its a little dog thing because Stella will sometimes do what we call a "twofer" where she ends up doing both at the same time haha but she hasn't gone on a plant specifically, but then again she doesn't lift a leg like yours does!

  • Add me to the "I hope this LO is cute" train. But more than that, I don't know what I will do if this one is not as smart as DD.

She was speaking in full sentences at 18 months, potty trained before 2 years old, and is the most articulate toddler I know. I fear that if this one isn't the same way that it will be very hard for them.

@WombThereItIs, I know you said food things don't count today, but
I've had a container of cream cheese frosting hiding in the back of my fridge and I take a spoonful every day... no shame... and I figure if I'm skipping the carrot cake (and going right for the frosting, the best part) then I'm actually saving calories. And, nope, this isn't the first container I've dipped into this pregnancy.
So in addition to Grater's ice cream, cream cheese frosting just got added to my grocery list. And if DH tries to eat some, I will cut a bitch.
That's the funniest thing I read today! TY for that!

OK, IMO, so it has to be the Betty Crocker Rich & Creamy Cream Cheese frosting. I had my hubbs pick up this last one and I literally wrote on the list "no substitutions!" and also texted him to say "if you can't find it, don't get anything else" LOL.
  • @cato99 I haven't had much caffeine since being pregnant. I didn't have any for a really long time at the beginning and will have ice tea every now and then for something different than water. I didn't have it at first because it can be a stimulant to your uterus and I had a m/c a few months prior to this LO and I'm paranoid. I know there is a certain amount you can have during the day, but I just haven't had any. If I have coffee, I tend to do half caf if anything. I get what you're saying though...not sure why you'd just drink decaf unless you really just like coffee for its taste and not the effects of the caffeine.

  • @BabyMC517 that makes total sense! The second after I posted I was like,

me: "have you considered... that maybe not everyone WANTS caffeine or coffee every single morning"
    also me: "....that's a....thing?"
both mes: "oooooooh now I get it"

  • @cato99 I've stuck to only decaf this entire pregnancy. The silly reason I gave it up was that I didn't want to ever have to limit the amount of chocolate I could eat in a day if I'd gone over my "allotted" caffeine amount. Actually, though, I found out I was a lot less tired mid-day when I cut out my morning caffeine. Regardless, I've been looking forward to hopping back on that wagon soon, and I'm sure my new-mom self will appreciate the real stuff again.
  • @SKZW absolutely agree on the dog dookie, NO ONE likes Land Mines! Generally I'm with DH and he'll pick up for me. If I'm alone I always pick up from our big dog, and only ignore from cheewawa when he's pooped in some ground cover that no one walks in anyway! If it's out in the open I suck it up buttercup and pick it up. When I'm not pregnant, I'll pick up a rogue turd if someone else was rude and left it out in the open, which is gross and cold, but whatever!

  • I was pretty much off caffeine before getting pregnant because I was pretty hooked and needed a break. However, now that I AM pregnant, I let myself have a Diet Mt. Dew each day I work (2 days/week). I know its full of chemicals but it's so delicious. Mmmmm
