@kat81 So Tuesday, I noticed I started to lose pieces of my mucus plug, then yesterday I started to feel mild back pain followed by nausea-not to the point of throwing up.
I had eaten breakfast, and once these symptoms started I sat down, drank water and ate a banana, but I still felt the pulsing back pain throughout the day..
I did call my MW and she said if it was bearable I could wait to see her today at my weekly appt.
I don't know, I just have a feeling I'll be going into labor sooner than my DD. So, I'd like to know about experiences of the weeks leading up to DD..
@CarmCeG Based on the combined symptoms, it does sound like it's possible you might be going into labor soon. The mucous plug, back pain, nausea...all symptoms that were discussed at my labor and delivery class the other night. I hope it's just some coincidental uncomfortableness that goes away for you soon.
Yikes! Looks like this thread was started at the right time. Good luck to @mamatowildones@schnitz9@chailife34 and @CarmCeG. Hope the babies stay in for as long as possible and that you have support members to help you and entertain you if you are stuck at the hospital.
@starphish18@SWE2Thank you. I want little man to be inside for as long as possible. I'm still working, but if I have to stop working for a little more peace of mind I totally will!
Thank you all. Still here. Can't believe the way it's been going. So last night I was having painful contractions every 2 minutes and dilated to 2.5 and then all of a sudden dropped to every 6 minutes and then every 10 and now like 2 an hour. They are making me rest and have the IV fluids. Then in a few hours another steroid and cervix check. If no change I go home what a ride. Nurses are shocked/happy that it didn't stick. I'm happy he'll have the second steroid and cook longer but afraid to go home only to come back again. Uuuggghhh
@schnitz9 So sorry you're in the hospital now but certainly the place to be with what you are dealing with. FX for stability and a good 48 hours to get the steroid shots in!
I'm guessing that some of you ladies being in L&D was being discussed in the randoms thread, which I have been MIA from for the past 2 1/2 days. (And now there's 328 posts, and frankly, I'm scared!)
Good luck to all of you and I hope you all can keep those babies cooking for a bit longer!
@mamatowildones What a ride, you're right! I'm sorry you're going through all of that but it's great to hear it seems like labor stopped, you get to go home, and baby gets to cook longer. Thinking about you!
Ladies, my MW says these are normal symptoms as the time gets closer. She said I have nothing to worry about for now, unless I see blood or the back pain grows more intense. She said due to my combination of symptoms I probably won't make it past my EDD. Also, I am 2 cm dialated ☺
Thank you ladies! So I'm now at 4 and not contracting. So they took me off fluids and are letting me walk after my last steroid shot. Hoping to see some progression. Otherwise tomorrow I'll go home on bedrest.
Thank you everyone so much for the shout outs! I can't tell you how much it means to me. After all these years on TB I've been the one wishing the prayers and crossing the fingers. I never in a millions years thought it would ever be me receiving the messages and now realize how truly touching it is. I'm still contracting about every 5 mins or so but they aren't super painful and there's been no "active" bleeding. They are actually going to give me something in a bit to let me sleep and then access me in the middle of the night. One of their concerns when I came in is that my iron levels have dropped and it can be do to the bleeding so they wanna keep an eye on it. It hasn't dropped anymore but also hasn't gone back up yet. So we are just waiting an seeing over the next 36hrs. Goal right now is to get me to sat at 7am with him still inside and then move of from there. All of your thoughts and prayers are so welcome by my DH and I and so appreciated loved.
Still have an inside baby. Right now only blood I have is brown which is good so nothing like yesterday which was bright red with clots. Contractions are still 5-7 mins apart but they have def picked up in intensity. I've had some pretty intense ones over the last 12 hours. They aren't too worried unless they get closer together or I have a cervical change. They last checked me about 10 hrs ago and was still just a fingertip, high, and a little soft so alps good thus far. Goal is still getting to tomorrow morning and then working from there. Thanks for all your thoughts❤
@schnitz9 I'm glad to hear the bleeding has slowed down and baby is staying inside. I'm hoping you can make it to tomorrow and then some. Thinking positive thoughts for you.
@schnitz9 Just reading all these updates now--I'm so glad to see that things seem to be going in the right direction...thinking about you and hoping for more positive updates!!
@mamatowildones hoping you get to go home soon!! Thinking about you!
@schnitz9 solidarity, sister. I'm right there with you on bed rest in the hospital after bleeding from placenta issues (previa for me, is yours doing okay after abruption?). So sorry you have to endure this, but you have my complete empathy (and lots of support from all these lovely ladies), so stay strong! You can do it! We are in this together and get the best prize at the other end.
Here's an update on what's going on here. Sorry it's long.
Yesterday f^cking sucked. I started bleeding again with clots in the morning, worse than the first bleed last week, so I am in the hospital until after delivery. I endured a really painful speculum exam, blood draw, and two attempts for an IV, one blew, and both hurt a ton. I was on a clear liquid diet for most of the day, which is torture for a pregnant lady. After finally eating dinner, the IV blew which hurt so much so I had them remove it, with the understanding that if I bleed again, they'll put another in. They also had me on continuous baby monitoring and the baby has been so active that they had to keep adjusting it multiple times an hour, which meant no sleep at all last night, but baby is healthy and I am stable.
Today has been much better but busy. They replaced my bed with one that's longer so I actually fit in it, and did a growth ultrasound and gbs screening. I have a great doctor today who not only agreed about not putting in an IV unless bleeding returns (she wants to avoid them blowing all available sites before I actually need 2 for surgery), but also adjusted my due date back to the original date so I'm 34w6d rather than 34w1 (based on period dating rather than ultrasound). This shaved some time off my stay and can move up the csection because the baby is further along. She did a growth ultrasound to confirm baby's weight and we'll see what the results are soon. Hoping for a delivery date of 4/19 (fingers crossed).
tl;dr hospitals suck, some doctors are better than others, and we're stable
thank you all so very much for all of the love, not only for me and my family, but for each other. This group is special and I'm so honored to be included in such a loving community.
I heard a newborn cry earlier and it brought tears to my eyes. We are so close, mamas. Our precious babies will be cuddling with us soon. Sending good vibes to all.
@chailife34 - Sounds like a rough day! Glad you had a reasonable doctor and got a better bed. Assuming they gave you real food and not clear liquids? Maybe your hospital has an IV team that can put in your next line. My last hospital did, and I was impressed at the miracles they performed. I think it's totally OK to tell your nurse that you're a hard stick in case IVs aren't her strong suit. It never offended me as a nurse. Hope you have a more restful night!
@slowmo excellent advice. They do have a special IV team and I will definitely request that next time. I'm back on real foods, which is amazing; beggars can't be choosers, it's hospital food, but I'm still grateful.
Ending the day with very good news: csection is officially scheduled for our preferred date: 4/19 obviously things could change in an emergency, but we're praying for smooth sailing.
@chailife34 Oh my goodness!! I'm so sorry you had to got through all of that. I'm glad you're stable and baby is doing well. I know this far more than what you wanted, but it's good you get a csection date of 4/19, like you were hoping. As long as placenta and baby can hold tight! I'll hope for smooth sailing for you all.
You have such a good attitude about all of this. (All of you mamas in the hospital do!) Hang on to your positivity, you DW, and knowing that a sweet baby is your reward at the end. Thank you for updating us and letting us share in your journey. Know that we are thinking about you all the time and sending all of our positive thoughts and wishes your way!
