  • @DuchessOfCambridge that's exciting! I love telling people I know are going to be supportive! Let us know how it goes

  • @jess0211 I'm right there with you on wanting to wait to order announcement gifts.  We're telling my husband's family Easter weekend and I waited until after my u/s last Thursday to order a frame from Etsy.  I'm definitely cutting it close as it still hasn't shipped yet :# .  I ended up ordering a frame off of Amazon prime as a back up!

  • I just got super excited when I looked at my calendar. I kept thinking my first appointment was 2 weeks away, but I realized it's only a week away now!! I'm terrified of needles so definitely not excited about the big blood draw but yay for getting to hear the heartbeat!! I feel that same happy surprise like when you find a $20 in your pocket lol
  • @BayCamp I found $20 in my bag yesterday and it was the best moment. I immediately spent $10 of it because I have no self control.

  • @ElizabethSchuyler but that means you saved half of it. Because, optimism ;-)
  • @ugoglencoco and @DuchessOfCambridge that's the ideal time to be gone!  :)

  • @jess0211 If you want to order it, you should :)  I waited too long and didn't realize the shipping time was 2-3 weeks. I do completely understand a little bit of hesitation though.

I'm going to start my online shopping now, as well. Not for nursery or baby-related items just yet, but I am going to buy a pregnancy journal based on the recommendations in this forum (I'm a big writer, so Belly Book it is).

Also--was considering a monthly subscription box. Anyone done any research on this/have suggestions from your past experiences?
  • @TallMomma29 So hilarious and perfect!

The pregnancy journals sound fun! I didn't do it with DD--I'm not even sure I'd heard of that...but I love journaling so I think I would love it. @ebelknap Like a subscription box for a pregnant person? Does that exist??

  • @emucoleman Yes! The one that I've heard of the most is Bump Box, so I will probably go with that one, but there does some to be a few lesser known ones out there. Mama Bird Box, The Stork Bag, etc. I know it's a bit cheesy, but I love surprise packages and figure it may be worth a try!!
  • @ElizabethSchuyler the more you post, the more I realize that you are my kind of people!

  • @ElizabethSchuyler  my thoughts exactly
@ebelknap I need to get on this so fast. I totally want one of these.
  • @ElizabethSchuyler have you tried Graze Box??? Soooo delicious.  Surprise snacks?  Heck yes.

  • @DuchessOfCambridge I feel the same.  I also found out before a missed period and on the one hand it feels like it's already been forever but then I'm also like "only 4 weeks till I'm done with first tri?  Wooo!"

  • @DuchessOfCambridge I was thinking about how some on the board are already to 10 weeks and 1/4 of the way there. That blows my mind!
  • I'm runnimg towards second trimester like counting down days until just get there. It seems soo far away buts it's less than 3 weeks away... when I've known I'm pregnant for more than 5 weeks and it feels like no time has passed. So weird.
  • I just had an amazing 30 minute snuggle nap with my dog while my girls were napping.  I thought about working but napped instead and it was the right choice!

  • The red sox are on, and I'm laying in bed with ice cream! Basically heaven! The 2ish months in between football and baseball are awful. Jerry Remy's voice is like magic to my soul (and I'm sure only new englanders will understand)
  • @ugoglencoco this is what I'm doing as well, except instead of ice cream, I'm eating a slush puppy that I got after my sons baseball practice tonight!
  • This is a really bizarre question and probably very silly but bear with me, I didn't start getting Pap smears until I got married. I've had a total of one in my whole life. I'm assuming they'll do one tomorrow. For the Pap and the two transvaginal ultrasounds I've had, I've shaved in preparation. Do you guys ever not shave for the doctor? We were out for a bit so I'm only just showering now and I'm too TIRED to shave.

  • @TallMomma29 excellent, decision made. This tired pregnant lady is going to take the fastest shower and then collapse in bed. It's their fault really. I was prepared to shave for next week when I was supposed to have my appointment

  • @DuchessOfCambridge With my last pregnancy, I was considered high risk and for the last 16ish weeks I had to go to appointments every other week, most of them having ultrasounds and/or cervix checks. There was no way I was going to be perfectly shaven every time! It gets really tough to take care of that task on a regular basis with a basketball blocking the view of your lady parts!! Don't worry, get some rest!!

I was always told to not shave for the day or two before an appointment. I don't remember exactly why but I think it had to do with irritation being worse right after a shave.
  • @DuchessOfCambridge I never shave before drs appointments. I figured they've seen it all. I've been horrible with ladyscaping lately, mostly because I tried a new brand of razors and they sucked. Also because I'm just lazier. The only thing I'm super anal about shaving for is swimming because I have an weird fear that people will notice my pubes. I'm super pale with dark hair so it shows up even under my skin.

  • I'm jealous of the non-pukers.  :/
  • @slaven I have black hair so I understand that. There's no hiding even a day of not shaving. I'm actually not sure what to do about my bffs bachelorette, it's in August and a beach weekend but I have no idea if at 28 weeks I'll be able to shave for it! Bikini waxes are out of the question for me because I don't hate myself lol. Might just spend the weekend in a beach cover up.

  • @DuchessOfCambridge my opinion (I'm sure others will disagree) is that you can shave late in pregnancy, it just takes forever. I've shaved at 10 days past my due date! And painted my toenails!

  • @DuchessOfCambridge I've been waxed for special getaway weekends and it's not horrible, especially if you don't get the whole thing done. It's the hair in the middle that hurts the most because it grows in different directions. You could just get an actual bikini wax and then use an electric trimmer to shorten the rest. Or just get a cute maternity swimsuit with shorts as the bottoms.

  • @MississippiCatfish oh thanks! Maybe I'll spend the day before we leave trying really hard ha. @slaven I'm inclined to the short bottoms. Bikini waxes sound too awful to me, half because of the pain and half because I'm very not into people seeing my body, it's a modesty thing. I cried during my first Pap smear because I was so uncomfortable even though I love my PCP and have known her for years. I haven't worn a bikini since college.
