@DuchessOfCambridge I've read that bikini waxing becomes more painful during pregnancy, too, so good call!  Just wanted to encourage you - it's never fun to have someone looking at your lady parts over and over during pregnancy, but it may become less uncomfortable to you as pregnancy progresses. For me, and I've heard other say it, it's just something that you get used to and don't think much about. I've had really fun, random conversations with my doctor every time he's been stitching me up after birth. It's  so bizarre!

  • @DuchessOfCambridge Oh then definitely no waxing. You have to be fully comfortable with it or else it would just be traumatizing. I'd stick with trying to trim, shorts, and get yourself a cute new coverup that you love.

  • @MississippiCatfish I assume it will definitely get easier for me, like I don't think I will cry today if they do a Pap smear and giving birth will DEFINITELY make me less shy but outside of doctors I don't think my comfort level will go up too much ha

  • @DuchessOfCambridge And I don't think there's anything wrong with that!

Ive had one spray tan and it was so uncomfortable..

  • @DuchessOfCambridge Did you get your new pillow? How does it work? Is it helping with sleep? I need to do something over here to help me sleep.

I have to give a presentation today on a topic that I wasn't given much guidance on and that's not my area of expertise.

  • @DuchessofCambridge Good luck today!
It's funny how it's the little things in life that mean the most...not where you live, or what you drive, or the price tag on your clothes... There's no dollar sign on a piece of mind, this I've come to know! *ZBB*

  • @jess0211 it is helping, I'm sleeping through the night now. It makes my stomach feel better if I can pull part of the pillow under to support it. Ugh good luck on that presentation!

    @NYTino24 thank you!

  • @DuchessOfCambridge You should still be able to see everything at 28 weeks. Once your bump gets huge, you can still shave, but it's more by touch than by sight. It was easier for me to keep things shaved than trimmed with my pregnancies.

  • Guys! I am having a complete freak out. At the recommendation of my BFF I started looking into day care options and reaching out to about 4 different ones that are in the ideal area. They have wait lists through June 2018. I'm in a complete panic. We have no family around to pitch in if needed. We both have to work. I know there are probably other options but I need my freak out moment. I am 8.5 weeks pregnant, how is this an issue already?!

  • @jess0211 good luck on your presentation, I'm sure you'll kill it.
@DuchessOfCambridge I'm going for a purposefully messy vibe down there these days
  • @jess0211 Tour the ones you like and get on the wait lists. Chances are, the same kids are on all the wait lists - so it won't actually take until summer 2018 to get a spot. Maybe also look in to a few closer to work or a little further of a drive. You can always put baby in a daycare with a less ideal location for a couple months until one of the ones you really want has an opening.

  • @jess0211 Get on the wait lists. Check out in home day care options through your county so they're licensed and have all their paperwork. We used care.com and found an excellent nanny for the first 9 months until a spot opened at an in home day care we loved.

  • @DuchessOfCambridge I've never shaved for a pap smear, and never will! I hate stubble and razor burn. Granted, we live in a pretty hippie area, so our doctors are used it it :)

  • @DuchessOfCambridge I prefer to dress pretty modestly too so swim skirts have been my thing for years. Helps with any fear of missed shaving too. With DS I wore my regular swim skirt and just bought a maternity tankini. Right now I'm looking into a swim shirt that will fit too. Since I won't be swimming past seven months (sadly!), I'm hoping I can size up in a normal swim shirt and get away with it. I like the extra sun protection on my shoulders and back.

  • @ArtificialRed yes! Autocorrect on here is crazy. I'm usually pretty good about proofreading before posting but I just said I like the way "breeding" coffee smells in another thread. Ummm no. Brewing coffee. Brewing!

Glad it's not just me! If you put that in a text message it would know that if you typed coffee and started with b-r-e that you would say brewing, not breeding. It's so weird.

  • Thanks for all the reassurance ladies! Since I had a pelvic exam and pap in January I didn't need one today anyway :)

  • If you aren't following Cat and Nat on Facebook, you're missing out on amazing mom humor! And if you're a FTM, don't worry, you'll relate to it all eventually!!
  • Can anyone tell me approx how long your dating ultrasound took? This is my first time getting one and we are planning a date night after since we have a babysitter, just trying to get an approximate time for dinner reservations;)

  • If it's just an ultrasound and no dr appt you're wondering about, mine took about a half hour, she did both an abdominal and transvaginal in that time. Just saw the tech and left!

I started looking at 5 weeks and am going to have to use two different places (my number 1 pick isn't available till April, we need care in Feb.)...I couldn't believe how far out places are booked. What worked for us was talking to our number 1 about options for care until they do have availability--the infant coordinator there referred us to an in-home that they know and trust. I was told that lots of people put in deposits before they even conceive!!

Good luck in your search! If nothing else, you're probably still ahead of some people. I'm sure something will work out!

  • @jess0211  maybe look for a nanny until you make it into daycare? It's ridiculous how soon they fill up, I was told to put myself on a waiting list when I was TTC.

Any idea why they said that my DH could come into my ultrasound after they find something but can't be there the whole time? It's a dating ultrasound but It's only abdominal.... so it seems strange to me. I'm also really anxious so I think I'm going to argue it.
  • @jess0211 that's insane! And making me really worried about our situation...we're going to reach out to daycares once we sign on an apartment but this is making me feel like we should start right now all over the city! Augh that's stressful, sorry you're dealing with that!

@bcashaw hmm that's odd. My hospital says no more than one adult family member with you and let my DH be there the whole time..

  • @DuchessOfCambridge maybe because it's just an ultrasound tech place and not at the OB or hospital? Either way I'm kind of annoyed. DH won't be able to come, but my best friend is coming (partly to help me with my 1.5 yr old while I'm in there) and I'd really like her to be able to come in since she will be in the delivery room
  • @bcashaw that's odd, I have no idea why they would say that.

I ended up telling my boss the news today, I felt like I needed to for planning purposes and because I was taking so much time off for appts (I never take time off) I was getting the side-eye haha. In addition, I kind of had to bolt out of a meeting today because I thought I was going to be sick. I think she's more excited than I am! Seriously! She was thrilled. That was a relief. She did mention hiring a temp to replace me while I am out, not sure how I feel about that. My job is very specialized and I don't know how one would find a "temp" to do it. It would mean hiring someone with extensive experience and education, which then would concern me they would be competing for my job. But that's another worry for another day I suppose.

  • @MississippiCatfish is it with your OB or somewhere else?  I had a dating ultrasound during my first appt with my OB and it was only a couple of minutes.

  • My work out instructor says you can keep doing all the exercises you feel comfortable with. Avoiding laying on your back (most abs workouts) are more uncomfortable when baby is bigger, around 20 weeks, and should be avoided. If you haven't been working out a ton, don't push yourself. Just do what you feel comfortable doing. I also thought I had to take it easy with my first pregnancy but since then I've been working out at Stroller Strides and my instructor has shared a lot of new research and best practices. :)
  • @jess0211 I, personally, have a hard time with in-home daycares. I have heard way too many bad things about them and can't get myself to use one. I also wouldn't be able to trust a nanny unless it was someone who came from a personal recommendation by someone I know. Could you consider looking outside your ideal area? Near us, there are a few daycares that are always on a wait list, but if you inconvenience yourself and drive a little further out of the way, there are a couple others that are great! I'm not sure if you have any areas like that.

@bcashaw I would lose my mind if I was told that by an ultrasound tech anywhere! There is absolutely no reason why he shouldn't be allowed in! My kids and husband all came in during one of my ultrasounds for my last baby without a complaint from the staff. I would probably go to a different facility.
  • @cmessamore I think I'm just going to make a deal out of it. Like nobody's gonna dent the pregnant girl her scheduled ultrasound
  • @TallMomma29 It's in a stand-alone radiology center. I see a family medicine doc so they don't have ultrasound in their office. It's where I've had my anatomy scans in the past, but I've never had a dating US. I assume it's much quicker than an AS, which has taken 45ish minutes?

  • My Tarte order, including my pregnancy safe sunscreen, got cancelled because my IP address doesn't match my billing address. Of course it doesn't because we're overseas military (which they totally has as a shipping/billing option). My address is technically a U.S. address, which is how USPS can ship to us but my internet is Korean.

And my phones at work aren't working this morning.

  • Another random: Starting this past week the sound for my alarm on my phone wasn't working. I would get sound notifications from everything else but the clock app (timer and alarm). I even tried changing the ringtone for the alarm and nothing worked. When I go to select a new ringtone normally it plays a sample of it but it wouldn't even do that. Well I updated my phone last night and now it works. I swear Apple just breaks things so that you update.
