Baby Movements

Re: Baby Movements

  • Woke up at 4am because our roomba was running it's cycle (the clock has gotten all messed up apparently) and I asked DH to go downstairs and turn it off because it's so loud when it gets near the stairs that it keeps me up which is why we run it during the day when we aren't home.

After he gets back upstairs, my baby decides now is the peeeerfect time to throw a dance party for about half an hour.  I'm talking WWF Smackdown, Flashdance, pop and lock style dancing.  While entertaining for the first few minutes, I am tired as heck today.

  • Tomorrow I'll be 24 weeks and I really don't feel much. Sometimes I think there are some hiccups but it's really subtle. I do have an anterior placenta so it could explain it but it's making me so uneasy. I have an appointment in a week so at least I'll get some info about what's going on.

  • @irishrose54 It does start to get uncomfortable about 34 weeks, but those faces watching and feeling baby never do.
  • @maybeitsmadeline There is a hilarious thing going around Facebook right now about a roomba that ran over dog poop and essentially coated this family's entire house (and child) in poop.  I couldn't stop laughing reading it- beware if you have a pet!

Oh man you must have missed the thread where I mentioned this has happened to us... twice.  So not funny in the moment, but funny after the fact.  MUCH, much after the fact!

I can't even imagine trying to clean that up! I feel like it would be easier to just abandon the apartment and move lol

This is exactly how I feel whenever I watch those horrible spider infestation videos. Just one big NOPE.

Lol! I wish it was an apartment because I probably wouldn't care as much, but we own our town home so even if I wanted to sell it (which we do for more space) I still have to clean it up!  :(:(:(

  • @Rae1 They're so cute!  A very odd sensation at first, but I want to experience it again.  It has only happened once that I could tell so far.  Maybe twice.  I felt her turn herself over last night and THAT was weird!

Aw!  Hiccups are the best!  I haven't had any yet this pregnancy but I loved it last time.  Baby is letting you know you he/she is okay without full out  ninja kicking you in the ribs lol.

  • I'm so happy to finally be feeling her at least once a day (anterior placenta), but I can't wait for the point where when I'm worried I can just poke her and make her all mad and wiggly to get some reassurance

  • I was told I have an anterior placenta, but honestly I feel like none of this baby's movement is cushioned. I feel it in the front, sides, bottom, everywhere. Last night was the first night I woke up because of it. I can't believe how active and strong he is and I can't believe he's going to get even bigger.....
  • @kat0607 same here. The doctor that did my anatomy scan (not my OB) was like "you won't feel anything until after 30weeks). Meanwhile ive been feeling her since 18/19 weeks. Just goes to show every pregnancy is different. I actually had my first painful kick yesterday up in my ribs. She's getting stronger!!

  • Ugh. I didn't like when DS moved, rolled and I am not enjoying it this time either. lol. I wish I could not feel it. I'm one of 'those' people. I will not miss this when all is said and done. ***Shutters***
  • Experienced hiccups for the first time yesterday. So weird!

I saw Beauty and the Beast today and was kinda hoping she would be crazy like others had mentioned, but no such luck. The movie was still great though.
  • Felt my first bone on bone scraping movement today. It made me shudder. I forgot how much I hate that. Officially never again sitting slumped over again where my ribs touch my uterus...

I think I had my first ever lightening crotch experience today. It wasn't pleasant.
Baby's been kicking up a storm and the kicks are becoming more defined (I have anterior placenta and the kicks are usually pretty muffled).

On another note, it's becoming a farce whenever I have to bend over to pick something up. I have to squat down and let my belly drop between my legs to grab something that fell on the floor, and then grunt as I struggle back up. It doesn't help that I'm dropping stuff more often than usual. Pregnancy's made me less coordinated.

    Edit: grammar

    Ditto all this exactly!
  • Finally feeling her! It's not pleasant but it is reassuring!

  • Baby girl is still transverse and every night when I lay down to sleep, I know I'm squishing either her head or butt (depending on which side I lay on). My preference is laying on my left, which is where her legs/butt is, and I swear she uses my side/the bed  like a freaking trampoline in the night. Last night I could feel her in what seemed like she was standing up and her head was pushing against my right ribs... so uncomfortable!!!
  • @MamaRN13 my little girl is the same way!

I'm a FTM so I have no real frame of reference, but I feel like transverse is the best position for her to be in right now. I imagine the breech and birth positions would be even more uncomfortable during this super active period. That being said, I'm totally with you on the nighttime bouncing!
  • I am getting attacked on all sides. It feels like baby likes to collide left right and centre.
  • Someone has discovered my kidneys.  :o

  • I haven't felt the baby move all day.  I am trying to not freak out or worry.  But as a FTM, it's hard.  How long should I wait before I should be legit concerned?

How far along are you? I had this happen at 24 weeks and ended up going in. She started moving as soon as they hooked me up to the doppler. Try drinking a lot of water/OJ and laying on your left side for a while.

  • @Twinkiedoll my OB told me it is still a bit too early to worry about movements (that was at my 24 wk appt). That being said, he told me if I haven't felt her in 5ish hours, drink a big glass of ice cold water and lay down to be still and feel movements. Luckily I haven't had that problem yet, and I'm sorry you are going through that! Maybe try the ice water (or cold juice if no GD) trick. Hope you feel LO soon so you can stop worrying.
  • @Rae1 and @MamaRN13  I'm 24 weeks 2 days.  I started feeling movement a couple of weeks ago, and she's been a gymnast on a training schedule.  I could usually anticipate when she would be active.  But today, I've felt nothing so far.

So this is pretty much identical to what happened to me then. I know it's hard, but try not to stress. Likely, everything is fine. Most OBs say it's OK to go without consistent movement that early on because they still have so much room to move around in there, that you are probably just not feeling her (I think most say you can start kick counts around 28-30 weeks). I would drink a large glass of COLD water or OJ and lay on your side for a while. If you still don't get any movement, it's really up to you what to do. My OB said "it's probably fine but you can come in for peace of mind if you want" so I went in haha. Thinking of you.

  • @Twinkiedoll I just wanted to say that this happened to me last week (week 24) as well. I'd been feeling movements every morning while lying in bed, during breakfast and at lunchtime, but this particular day hadn't felt anything all day. I panicked a little bit, but decided to wait it out, and felt movements again after dinner. I hope she kicks up a storm again soon!  :)
  • @Rae1 @MamaRN13 @rjoys8 Thanks, ladies.  I am going to wait it out and use my doppler when I get home.  I'm also chugging ice water in the meantime.
  • Any update @Twinkiedoll? I had an anterior placenta with DS and would still worry. My dr says kick counts start in the third trimester but if I ever worry I should drink orange juice and lay down on my back for 15 mins and you should feel something by then. Thinking of you!
  • @nktrodden826 Thanks for asking.  I have felt tiny rumbles here and there that I *think* may be kicks.  But I'm not sure if those are actual kicks or just wishful thinking and/or gas.  In any event, she's definitely not as active today as she has been the past two weeks.
  • Movements are getting stronger. I think LO is confusing 3 am with 3 pm though. 3 pm very little movement. 3 am and it's like a club party or something lol
