Hello, so they saw what they were looking for...the sac and the yolk sac. Only one! Then, I met with the nurse, and she said everything is where it should be. I told her I google and have anxiety...she said stop googling...I'll try. I'm 5 weeks 1 day...my next OCD is that she said it measured 4 weeks 6 days, but she wasn't concerned. Is this normal? I go back in one week for blood and then in two weeks for ultrasound and heartbeat. I basically have to try to chill till then...yea, right...I am so not chill lol.

@Prudence9 -I read something about immune testing because sometimes that can be an issue. It's work asking about or looking into.

@LoveDontCostAThing try not to worry about being behind by 2 days. At this stage the embryo is soooo tiny that I think it's very difficult to get an accurate measure. But I know how hard it is to not worry and to stay off google.

@LoveDontCostAThing of course I checked in right before you posted...great update!!! You had a really early scan I wouldn't worry. Easier said then done, try not to panic just yet, lets give it a few weeks before that

You had a great check up and she saw everything she needed to see. Did you get to see the flicker of the heart? @Prudence9 is right where its so hard to get the accurate measure, did you get your due date? You just need to be taking easy and let your body do the work!

@Prudence9 I'm sure the T3 T4 will be in the next round of blood tests. If its been a year since you're with them they'll probably run all the initial tests as well. Has the spotting stopped?

AFM: hoping I will here that my golden 7 are still going strong!! I am concerned about it but know theres nothing I can do about it. I still have cramping here and there. Definitely longer healing time then last time.

@Hopeful_mom I still have spotting, but less than before... hopefully it will stop in few days. It's been a week and a day since the MUA...

When will you get the next report? Hope the cramping is not too bad... do you need to take pain meds?

@hopeful_mom -No, I didn't see a heartbeat flicker...GREAT ANOTHER THING TO WORRY ABOUT lol. Well, she didn't mention it, but said in two weeks is when I come back for the heartbeat. Should I have seen it? My due date is around Thanksgiving...Nov. 27th!

@LoveDontCostAThing I don't think you're suppose to have heartbeat at 5w 1d.... maybe at the end of 5w. Def should have heartbeat at 6w. So I wouldn't worry about that!

@LoveDontCostAThing You wouldn't see it on your own, your OB would've had to show it to you. AND you had your US very early mine was first at 6weeks so Prudence9 is spot on and there is NO NEED TO WORRY

so you make it in 2017 wow, nice!! What day was your transfer again?

Prudence9 hopefully the spotting will be over soon! I feel like i have a lil which is interesting as I never had a spot on my first ER.

AFM: My report is in and of course I was a lil confused ha!! The 7 are still growing but it seems 5 are really growing strong...praying they can make it to blasts!!
Have 4 at 8AB, an 8A, 5BC and 4BC but its a 1PN. Our eggs I believe are suppose to be a 2PN...so not to confident on that one. We'll get another report on Friday. I'm trying to stay positive but its tough!!

@Hopeful_mom I think some spotting is expected after ER. I don't think I had any. But I did have some cramping.

Ahhh this report is so confusing! Try to focus on the 5 strong ones!! This wait is torturous!!

@LoveDontCostAThing u r so cute!! Those grades are cells numbers with a letter grade attached. Day 3 they should divide into an 8 cell so I do have thank g-d 5 progressing correctly. The other 2 are still growing but they are behind if where they should be, does that make sense?
@prudence9 it's totally confusing and frustrating as u just want everything to go as it's supposed. It's such a miracle and I will need to bank more I can see.

The letters are a grading system, I assume getting an A is always a good thing so wThe quality of each embryo is assessed using the following grading system:

Grade A: Even, equally sized spherical cells (blastomeres) with no cellular fragmentation.

Grade B: Embryos have uneven or irregularly shaped blastomeres, and less than 10% fragmentation of blastomeres.

Grade C: Embryos have up to 25% fragmentation. Blastomeres appear viable (although may be granular).

Grade Embryos have 25-50 % fragmentation. Blastomeres appear viable (although may be granular).

Grade E: Embryos are considered non-viable with lysed, contracted or dark blastomeres.

The is the PN stuff....in short it had a slight chance. Obviously I will double back with my dr about, oh how she loves my questions

To check for fertilization of oocytes (eggs), the fertilized oocytes must be examined 16-20 hours after insemination for the presence of two round nuclear structures, the male and female pronuclei (PN), formed by the sperm and egg. Fertilized oocytes (“zygotes”) must be distinguished from unfertilized and abnormally fertilized oocytes. Cells surrounding the eggs are carefully dissected away to allow clear visualization of the egg. Pronuclei must be scored within the appropriate time span, before they merge and are no longer visible (during a phase called “syngamy”). This ensures only normal zygotes with two pronuclei (2PN’s) are cultured for embryo transfer or cryopreserved.

Abnormally fertilized oocytes are observed when eggs undergo development without fertilization (1PN) or are fertilized by two (or more) sperm (3PN). Such abnormal oocytes cannot be used for attempting to initiate a pregnancy since they are genetically abnormal.

@Hopeful_mom it's all so confusing... I hope all 5 will make it to blast! I don't know much about the letters. But I do know that on day 3 anything from 6-10 cells is considered good (with 8 probably the best!) so you have 5 8-cell which is great!!!

AFM... the nurse from my clinic wrote me back that once my hcg levels are down, the dr will want me to have the following tests:
TSH, TPO, a1c, APLS labs (b2gp, ACL ab, LAC)

I scheduled the first beta for Monday. And if it is not down I'll go for another beta the following week.

Ok, tell me if this is normal. TMI warning! I had constipation (I know that's normal-and especially for me.) Now that is gone and replaced with it's fun counterpart...diarrhea. I've had it on/ off for the past few days. Then, I woke up at 1am this morning and had the chills, diarrhea, and major vomiting. Is this all normal? Vomiting, of course, I know people have, but that's the first time I did. It's the diarrhea and chills I am mainly concerned about. Thanks

sorry you're not feeling well! I wouldve said others have experienced that but not the chills part, do you feel sick? Cause it does sound like it. I feel like the nausea and vomiting usually kicks in around 6weeks. Hope you're home resting and feeling better!
@prudence9 how r u feeling? I guess for me i still feel bloated. I was never taking pain meds but I always get this pain on my side on the left when I sit down, i'm assuming its the pressure of sitting on my ovary? Getting into a car, sitting in any seat will give me this poke before it settles in. It only concerns me as I'm suppose to do a cycle back to back.

AFM: I want to say I'm happy but I think right now I'm just relieved that I have something. So far I have a 5AA and 5AB that have made it to freeze. One was an icsi and the other regular. MAYBE I can get another one or two tomorrow PRAYING that it does happen. Just very worried about only having 2 for testing you know. They are super quality I'm told so trying to believe in that right now. This process is so expensive!! Doing it this way its gonna be at least 30-40k and so far have hopes of just 2 ugh....I'm beyond worried today! I know theres nothing I can do, but I do wonder if I just shouldve done the fresh cycle transfer. Some embryos do grow better inside why they do the 3dt. Last cycle I got 3 and pregnant with twins. This cycle I had 9 and so far back to 2 and hopes they're normal!

My brain is going a mile a minute, I'm tempted next cycle to try and do a fresh transfer and then hopefully test whatever else makes it. I know it sounds crazy but if others dont come through tomorrow then I just wonder if my lil embabies are happier being in me then out of me....

AFM... I'm feeling good. But still some spotting. I think that after my ER I was also still bloated for a while. And actually because I was still feeling uncomfortable for a while, I was happy I didn't do the fresh transfer as originally planned. I think that by the time I got the next period I felt better. So hopefully that will be the case for you too!

Thank you both! I guess I have the chills/ I am cold. Of course, I googled, and it said some people do get cold in early pregnancy. Luckily, I don't have a fever, but if I do then I'll have to go to my primary. Just took my temperature, and it did go up a little...it's 99.6...who knows...is that a fever? Now I am kind of hot/ cold. I hope it's the hormones. Of course I am worried. I have not eaten much, so I haven't vomited. I am going to have dinner and see what happens.

@hopeful_mom -I know two may not feel like a lot, but hopefully they are two that are perfect. I don't know what you should do either...that is so much money. How much is the testing, specifically? Maybe a couple more would make it. Is it too late to do a fresh since they froze the two? Unless more make it by tomorrow?

All good questions!! Too bad I didn't see them to ask my dr earlier. Its too late to do a fresh transfer as they were frozen but maybe the one today could've been transferred, not sure. As much as I wanted too I wonder if my body Was ready this time.
@Prudence9 did they tell you when you can expect AF? Will you be prepping for another FET?

i had assisted hatching with my fresh transfer are the able to do it for the frosties too?

I wish I was still sleeping but had to go in for bloodwork this am and I was lucky to find a nurse to check on my other eggs, she left word with the lab and that dr just called me, I was surprised it was her especially on a Saturday!

Thrilled to hear one more made it yay!!

So through icsi I got 2 // 5BB and reg fert is 5AB.

I asked where my 5AA went and they didn't kno. Guess someone read my report wrong. She was really nice and was trying to make me feel better that I really did good as they only expect 1/2 to be in the battle, especially with my age. I swear they act like I'm 50. Guess they need to blame it on something. Really praying I can get them all back....this is tough!!

As for your question to whether you could have done fresh transfer today, I know that for me, before transfers (fresh and frozen) they wanted to prep me with 5 days of pills (I think it was some type of antibiotics) and daily PIO shots... (prep before frozen transfer was much longer. But the 5 days prior to transfer seem the same)

are you still having cramps?

AFM.. They told me 4-6 weeks until AF arrives. So as of Monday it will be 2-4 weeks to go. I will have beta on Monday. Once it goes back down I will have blood tests to check what might be wrong with me

Thank you both! I am feeling better than yesterday for sure. I am tired, but I that is how I have been. I was really hungry, so I had pancakes and sausage at the diner lol. Hopefully it was a bug that is going away.

@Hopeful_mom -that's great you got one more! are they freezing it? or did you decide to do a fresh? They do act like you're 50...it's crazy how much age plays into all of this. They don't have to keep reminding you!

@Prudence9 -ugh that's still awhile until AF! I swear I still expect mine to show sometimes. Now I am getting nervous for Tuesday's blood work. I think you should ask them about immune testing because I think it can affect implantation.

And yes, they will run some immunity tests. Here is the list of tests the dr wants: TSH, TPO, a1c, APLS labs (b2gp, ACL ab, LAC)

the APLS labs are immune tests.

@Prudence9 - I have no idea the names of the test I had BUT I did have over 30 vials taken. Double check they're testing for blood clotting too (thats 17 vials alone...which i didnt know prior) could be nothing as mine was but better to rule it out! And you're totally right about prepping for a fresh transfer. I forgot I started with estrace and the suppositories right after ER. I guess I need to think about that if I'm considering it for the next round, thanks for the reminder

As for the cramps its just sensitive when I sit down and then it settles.
The dr i had to meet with for the PGS testing was the one who called me today, I was caught off guard as I wouldve wanted to ask more questions if I knew she was calling. You should know I was thinking about you and your loss asking how its possible. Right away she was talking about the mosiac embryo and I said nope it was normal. Its hard as they say 1/2 is the embryo and then 1/2 is our uterus. UGH all the unanswered questions is so annoyiing!!!

@prudence is right on me not taking meds to prep for a fresh transfer, so as much as I wouldve liked to do one I really need to make that decision prior! (slacking on my response sorry, fell asleep typing last night

I know I shouldve paid more attention to the pricing but OH got the pricing for this round and he thought it was all included in one and not for one cycle. I made a payment and only wanted to pay 1/2 until the next cycle and thats when they straightened me out...maxing out every credit card will not be fun.

Who knows what the right thing to do is, its so frustrating even now. unto the next cycle.

@Prudence9 -I'm not sure what those tests are lol, but then again, I just looked at the paper for all the tests they're giving me on Tuesday, and I don't know what they are either! I think it is a beta too. Here are the tests:
-TSH Ultrasensitive
-FREE T4 (Direct)
-Anticardiolipin Ab, IgG, IgM
-Antiphosphatydl serine Ab, IgG, IgM
-Antibody Screen
-CBC
-BETA 2 GLYCOPROTEIN
-LUPUS ANTICOAGULANT

They're also doing a urine analysis. Well, I can't say they're not thorough! Did either of your clinics run these around week 6 of pregnancy? I know the nurse said they do more tests because things can change in your body once pregnant. Well, guess I have some googling to do to find out what they're testing!

@hopeful_mom -I'm sorry you have to max out your credit cards...that's truly ashame that more insurances don't cover IVF. I can't imagine. Also, for my fresh transfer I only took progesterone. For frozen I took the estrace and progesterone.

@LoveDontCostAThing I love that you guys know all the tests they give you, do they email it to you? I feel like the nurses want to kill me as it is with all my questions. I also think some of your blood work is to see what you need to still keep taking and so on...its all fine things for u and ur pnut!
You try and stay positive that this will work, I think I'm concerned if it doesn't...it should...but it also shouldve worked the other time too SOOO u understand my worry.
I will say its funny how viagra is covered by insurance, cause its important for a man to be able to have sex for hours right

But a woman having a child which is suppose to happen for all easy peasy and doesn't has to suffer. You should only know how much I pay for insurance its a sin its not covered. You have to work for a big corporation and they have to care enough to want to offer if. System sucks!

Ugh! My stomach issues returned with vengeance at 3am. Sorry for TMI, but it's just constant watery diarrhea...no fever...the chills seem to be gone. I get hot flashes and then cold, but that's been typical. Of course I have googled, and I read that hormones usually cause constipation, but can sometimes cause diarrhea. Ugh...so I don't know if it's hormones or a bug. If I end up having to take off work tomorrow then I will go to the dr. My other anxiety is that my boobs don't hurt anymore! So of course I think the worst!

@hopeful_mom -the nurse gave me a list of the blood tests they're doing for me to give to the blood girl on Tuesday, so I googled them all. And the system does suck. I was able to switch my insurance during open enrollment last year, and it covers IVF, so I got lucky. My job has been on a pay freeze without a contract for 4 years, which blows, as I have missed 4 years of raises, so I am trying to be positive in that it covers IVF. That's why I am not leaving yet!

That list of blood tests looks very thorough! And no, when I reached 6 weeks, I didn't have to do all that... but maybe this time around they will be more careful with me?

@hopeful_mom yes, I read how sometimes they say that it's hard to tell if the tissues are of the embryo or actually the mom's. But in the results from the lab they had a chart where they compared some of my genes to the embryo's.

Also, before next cycle, when you have to decide if you want to do fresh transfer, try to remember how I feel right now. I think that especially because of our age, it makes sense to let the body rest for a little bit...

With that said, I know that an FET cycle means waiting longer and more money... so it really sucks... I used to think that working for one of the big tech companies, I will have the best fertility benefits, but being on this board taught me that the benefit I have really sucks... I ended up paying OOP for the IVF because when they charge the insurance they charge more than when they charge OOP, so I would have run out of the lifetime benefit in one swipe. I try not to think how much money I spent so far... because I get really upset, if they tested me before the FET maybe we would have found what's wrong with me and I wouldn't have had to go thru this experience? Also, no guarantee next time I do FET, the embryo will implant... I got lucky to have it work the first time... ahhh.... sorry for the somewhat down post

@LoveDontCostAThing hmmmm did you vomit again? You're not having any bleeding right? I know you're concerned but you are pregnant and have a lot of stuff going on. Have you looked over at the other boards not that I want you to leave us. On the pregnant after IF maybe someone there might be having similar symptoms. Theres one girl now 7 months pregnant that had similar symptoms so lets not freak out right away. Easier said then done...I remember there was a day my boobs werent as sore and i starting freaking out too. Remember I was totally pregnant the whole way through until i wasn't. Remember to stay hydrated!
As for no raises, IVF being covered is better then a raise so i totally get it!!

Prudence9 The struggle is real and who better to vent to and be down with then us!! You make me want to go back to my RE and ask about the tissue of the embryo. I didnt get the actual results but doubt I would understand them. I should have her send them to me, she called to go over them with me initially and just stated it was normal and the 46 chromesomes and that was it. Thats insane about your insurance coverage is more expensive then OOP unreal!! I"m still undecided as usual on fresh vs FET

I just need to see how this next cycle goes. Remember the fresh technically did work so it makes me un easy doing something else.

@hopeful_mom yes, they have prices for insurance and then they give discount if you do OOP. It was not worth for me to use up my entire lifetime benefit and still owe a lot of money just to cover the ivf. So I went with OOP. FET is much cheaper so it made more sense to try and use insurance on that. Still not sure how much (if any) I have left.... as it is unclear if they counted the meds toward the lifetime benefit or not.
(And I think that like you, I live in a place that have prices higher than other parts of the country... )

i totally understand you wanting to do whatever already worked for you!!! When are you suppose to get the PGS results?? Knowing the results will help you make a decision...

Did the dr discuss the protocol for FET? Medicated vs non medicated?

@Prudence9 -I'm not going to take off tomorrow. The diarrhea seems to be on and off. If it's really bad during the night maybe I will end up taking off. Seems like when I am at work at least I am distracted. Sitting home just makes me more anxious and google. I know the most important thing to do is keep drinking fluids since I am losing them. I look forward to hearing about your tests. I don't want them to find anything wrong, but if they do then at least it would be some kind of answer/ something they can "fix."

@hopeful_mom -nope, I didn't vomit again. And no bleeding. I did post in the first trimester board, so I will see if anyone answered. I hope it is what you said that there is a lot going on in my body. I always suspected that I had mild IBS anyway. When do you get your test results back? I did two FETs and one fresh, and it was the fresh that worked. I know they say fresh and FET have similar outcomes, which I do think is true, but we can only go on what worked personally for our bodies. Of course I plan to use my frozen in the future, so I am definitely no opposed to frozen. They also say that your body has had a break from all the hormones with frozen, which can be helpful. Really, I think this is all a crap shoot that mostly has to do with embryo quality and uterus receptivity and aligning the two things.
