Omg this thread is giving me life today.

Totally had Moe's for dinner last night. It's forever better than Chipotle. #fact

I'm a llr consultant but I get why it's not some people's thing. I def try not to be spamy  (hardly ever post about it on my personal accounts). I will say I'm ridiculously excited to have these clothes this pregnancy. Buying new maternity sizes for for 2nd trimester vs 3rd trimesters last pregnancy was infuriating. Leggings fo' life you. ETA: I STILL get spammed by other consultants and other direct sales companies. I think a lot of them give us a bad name. For ex: I will NEVER add someone to my shopping group without them asking to (unless they've added me to some bs of their own,, seriously I don't need another Younique, R&F, etc.. lady)

Seriously, some really good UOs today!
  • I just stumbled upon a parenting win by being a bad and lazy parent. The 3yo ate her dinner the 2yo didn't. So the 3yo got a Popsicle but I didn't feel like hearing the 2yo cry so I gave them both one. The 2yo ate half of it then came over and finished her dinner! #probablyshouldnttrythisathome #notanUObutrelevant

  • @carries2018 I've totally just given my toddler a popsicle so I don't have to deal with the tantrum. However, it would never result in her finishing her dinner lol

People who work for companies like Younique or Mary Kay and try to sell me stuff with all their makeup and skin care "knowledge". No, you're not a professional makeup artist or esthetician. Stop it.

ETA lots of people I know love Mary Kay makeup and I think it is the worst. I'm not a makeup snob or anything, but I just really dislike that company..

You nailed it. As a pharmacist I feel the same way, I shamed my own profession 3 times this week.  There are good ones and there are not so good ones.

Similarly when a patient demands to see the dentist over the hygienist for their routine cleaning.... you know hygienists do WAY more cleanings on the daily than a dentist does right?

@carries2018 I can totally understand that. I just have a hard time with the overall generalization. Especially in primary care there's going to be a huge shortage of providers and having NP's and PA's available will help patients actually see providers in a timely fashion. My mom recently had surgery and her follow ups were with a NP and she was annoyed because she wanted to see a doctor, even though there was no reason for it and the procedures she wanted to MD to perform himself were things I could do as a nurse. I just know it's going to suck (for me) to have worked so hard for 4 years to then face people saying "oh I don't think your education or experience is enough, I need someone to be seen by someone who specifically went to med school."
i get that, but then there are people who think Doctors are cold and don't have time for anyone...and prefer NPs. I think @aprilsarahjune made a good point about communication styles. bc NP and MDs do address things differently. I think that is prob why OB NPs and i dont mix bc i am more straight to the point about that stuff. but general health i am more laid back, lets discuss. There is a right fit for everyone.
I don't understand the "how NPs comminicate" statements... I've practiced in health care with probably over 40 NPs over almost 10 years and 100s of doctors and every single one of them has a different communication style.  Your degree does not mandate a particular communication style.

  • You LLR haters are just jealous of how giant my boobs look in my Julia today. :p
I just got a new Julia... it's a lil snug around my baseline bump so I'm waiting to wear it for when I have a true bump.  I can't wait.  I personally think my boobs rock best in an Amelia though

Well your sample size is obviously a lot bigger than  mine. I'm speaking about the 6 between my primary and OB. I certainly don't think that qualifies for every single NP. But I don't intend on changing either practice. So my sample and general conclusion is really all that affect me. I don't think they aren't any less qualified. I just prefer not to have them at my ob.

  • I've had nothing but negative experiences with the NP at my OB office. But I prefer to see the NP at the pediatrician.

The NP at my OB I had an absolute AWFUL experience with my dd2. It's an insane story and even my OB was mad about it. When I saw the NP again this pregnancy, she tried to tell me that zofran doesn't cause constipation. I stopped listening to her after that and just wanted to get through the appointment. (The irritation from this recent appointment definitely, definitely stems from my last experience)

The NP at the pediatrician is the one who caught my dd2's heart murmur at her 1 year visit, which was the first time she had seen her. None of the MDs caught it. I had to tell them about it at later appointments before they even noticed while listening to her.

Anyways, this long novel is all just to say that generalizing is setting you up for failure. Had I decided after the terrible experience with the NP at the OB that I never wanted to see an NP again, my daughters heart murmur may not have been discovered (which happens to be a result of a condition and is not innocent, so she will require surgery at some point in her life, if not multiple throughout her life).
  • @sjohnso8 I'm so sorry to hear about your daughter's heart condition but glad it was found! My daughter had a murmur at birth due to a PFO, she still has a murmur but luckily the PFO has resolved, but going through that whole process is scary! I absolutely agree with what you're saying though, you can certainly judge individuals but making that broad generalization isn't great for anyone

Oh absolutely, that's what kills me! My mom was upset that a PA was doing her catheterization and I'm sitting here like "I could do that....there's no reason a surgeon needs to do a skill that is basically the first thing you learn in nursing school. You're lucky if the PA takes the time to do it.."

  • @ForwardnBackward I had someone (a woman) on fb post a question asking for male oral surgeon recommendations, because "I feel like like women will get an attitude and be judgy toward me"

    Please don't procreate.

  • Yes, I just sat through and read all of these. Since I'm on mobile I'll keep my responses to myself because I would be sitting here all night. But I do love reading everyone's different opinion. I live in such a small, close minded town so I love seeing outside opinions on everything.

im sure I'll come up with a UO soon..
  • ^^Yes @Mrs_Fogue ! I get that it's good to recruit people (in any direct sales company) but seriously no one wants to spam their friends/family. I used to sell Isagenix and they asked us to post daily! I think people got sick of the positivity every damn day (myself included).

PS I love R&F! I'm still trying to figure out which products are pregnancy safe.

I have the ingredients list I'm fixing to hand my doctor next week and ask which is ok.  I've tried to do a bunch of internet research but I'm still not satisfied.  So I have stopped everything until I can speak to my Dr and now my skin looks like crap.
  • ^^YES! I've stopped most of my products and my skin is definitely sadder. Plus i want to keep using lash boost! I was starting to get some awesome results.
