  • @aprilsarahjune YUP. Everything feels like a minefield. I have to scroll real fast past that pizza poll on the main page or I start gagging.
  • I have one that will probably ruffle some feathers.

I think if you are either a FTM or a STM+ who says things like "I won't make two meals for my kid, they will eat what I eat." you simply have not experienced a child who is a picky eater. I'm glad for you that you don't have to experience this particular version of hell, but it's not your parenting that makes your kid eat.
    @jessafishy
Nope nope nope.  My 3 kids are great eaters.  It is all because of me.  Because I am such a perfect cook and convincing mother.  J/k - I have no idea why my kids will eat any kind of food set in front of them, but I loooooove it.

I meannnnn I don't think I'm super mom because I don't usually make two meals. But like @carries2018 said, she'll eat when she's hungry. She knows she doesn't get any cookie/treat after dinner unless her dinner is eaten. And I just have at least one side dish that I know she likes. If her dinner consists of yogurt and bananas, I figure that's better than nothing.

I never say *never* because those statements never work out. So I'm not going to say I would *never* fix two meals. But I give her an option of what kind of fruit she wants each night so there is at least one thing on her plate every night that I know she'll eat.

Than again, I have a super picky husband, so I don't consider a lot of the dinners we make very complex anyway

  • i dunno if this is a FFFC or UO but it is all i got so here goes.

I love teachers (ok most of them), i love what they do shaping the future generations blah blah blah. they deserve good pay. but for the love. they are the biggest complainers about going back to work after vacations etc. YOU GET 3 MONTHS OFF A YEAR! i really dont feel the slightest bit bad for you returning to work after a long summer off, or an extra long holiday break. or spring break.

  • @jessafishy I won't claim this won't ever happen. But for us making one meal works. Our rule is you try it. If you don't like it that's fine. There is cereal and waffles and other foods easily available.  I won't make another meal though. My kids are older, so we don't really have that problem anymore. That isn't to say this one won't be my wild child.

@jessafishy Mine isn't particularly picky. She will eat most anything, but she hates to eat in general. If you ask her what she wants for dinner, she will say "nothing". It takes her FOREVER to eat a meal most days. If cooking something separate that she would eat without a fight would fix it, I'd be doing it in a heartbeat lol. If I physically feed her, she will eat it without a problem or complaint. She's going on four though, so that just isn't an option. I can't have her going to kindergarten thinking her teacher is going to feed her lol.

I can never think of an UO and I want to so bad lol.

UO: I am feed up with people and their statements "____ voted for Trump, I hope he losses his ____."  No that's not how this works!  I fully support being opinionated about the President, but I hate seeing people bashing their friends/family.  I guess having watched political opinions take a very ugly turn between my parents, aunt and uncle just left me sick and tired of all the ugliness.

i get what you are saying, normally i would agree. but this presidency is just so unprecedented. it is terrifying what he is doing to our country. it isnt like ::shakes fist at obama:: my taxes are being affected! it is like oh my gosh, the values and beliefs this country was built upon is being stripped. it is hard not to take that personal, and want to prove to people who voted for him why they were so wrong.

that being said, i truly don't believe people who voted for him are bad people. i think they didnt know enough, and that is their fault (which is why i think a lot of people want to "prove" to them why they were so wrong). but it is easy to not research and just take what is said at face value. people were looking for a change. i am a republican (fffc). do you know how hard it was to vote for hillary? but the options we had were terrible. and i blame the DNC, no doubt in my mind if they didnt push her...Bernie would be our president.

DS behaves the same way!  If I feed him, he will clean his plate - no matter what the meal.  If he is forced to use his fork, we will sit there for an hour and he will stare out of the window, etc.. Ugh.  But glad that DS is not alone in this behavior.

  • I blame both political parties (registered independent here).

They gave us two completely horrible candidates to choose from. I voted, but felt like America lost either way. I have a feeling this will only be a one-term presidency, though, so hopefully both parties can step up their game and find some decent candidates for 2020.
meh, GOP didnt give us a good option...but they did everything they could to try and get him out. his platform was just too strong...platform of lies and idiotic comments...but that is neither here nor there. he won the votes.

I guess I'm more just saying, our final two choices sucked.

I agree, though, I think if the DNC would have just let Bernie run, he would've beaten Trump. I guess it's good that the people aren't willing to sit back and be pushed into a candidate just because the party is pushing them, but it definitely hurt Hillary after that.

  • Oooo now I have a good UO: I think Hillary Clinton is great and I happily voted for her.

hahahahaha I was just waiting for this

And you know what? I think that's great. That's what I love about this country - we all have the right to pick the candidate we think is best. And we have the right to disagree in a civilized manner.

1000% agree!!  I just hate bashing our loved once who don't agree with our sides.

Just think how boring this place would be if we all agreed!

@natlielynn your my new favorite person for thinking about politics in a rational manner.  Can you spread that pixie dust?

@mrs_fogue I can't even get my own husband to convert to my way of thinking. Sometimes I think I'm a unicorn.

I agree.  I just ask my son what he wants for dinner.  I would rather he eat than not eat.  He normally eats hot dogs, dinosaur chicken nuggets with honey, or fruit for dinner.  Yesterday I was able to convince him to eat spaghetti and meatballs (which he just told me was yucky the day before).  But if he had told me no, I wouldn't have pushed on.

  • My UO: I don't like photo sessions. Bridal portraits. Maternity portraits. Family portraits. I've never had any of these done and I don't see myself ever doing them because I just think they're awkward. Or at least they would be for me. Just the thought makes me cringe.

  • Ooo @natleilynn I agree about Push presents!! I was happy DH took off work to help , haha ! We have no family in the area.  I don't need jewelry or things for pushing a baby out. Then again we don't really do big gifts for birthdays or holidays either. We focus on the kids in that aspect. With DD1 we were so young and push presents weren't really a "thing"

  • @jessafishy    I know so many teachers who just go through the motions and don't really have any kind of passion for what they do.  Those are the ones who give the rest of us a bad name.  I am very thankful that I really love doing this or else I probably would be looking for another job.
  • edited March 2017
@jessdg I'm so thankful for all the teachers out there who are passionate about what they do. I could never do it! My moms a teacher and I just can't believe some of the things she goes through. @jessafishy she's like your DH tho, it's part of her identity and who she is so she sees it as worth it.

Eta: she does love her long breaks, though ;)

  • I think my DH would really like for me to stay home with our children while they're young.  I think that would be wonderful, but I keep thinking about how tough it would be to give up my job.  He doesn't always understand that it's just part of who I am.  It was honestly all I had going for me for a few years, so I'm kind of attached to teaching!  We will see what happens.
  • @jessafishy @JessDG all of this. My DH is also a teacher, and he is so passionate about it and loves it way more than I could ever love any job. He hates being off for summer break. Meanwhile I'm over here plotting any and all possible ways to get out of working  :D
