Re: March Randoms

  • Love that nipple butter too @LDSJM123 and I'm sure I'll be using it again when the teeth come in. I'm trying to remind myself that so many women around the world breastfeed babies past the point of teething but I'm scared!!!
  • Loading the player...
  • Mom fail- I put some cooked green peppers aside for Elijah to chew on while my husband and I ate stir fry.  He threw his on the floor so I gave him one from my plate without even thinking.  His face/chest/neck got red and he was itchy.  I'm guessing his body did not like the soy sauce on mine.... anybody else dealing with food intolerances or potential allergies?  I told my husband let's skip food and I'll just breastfeed him forever.
  • I hope everybody & their LOs are feeling better soon! C & I have both had horrible colds for over a week now. He's been a super fussy little guy all day today but I'm soaking up all of the extra snuggles
  • @austinjl Yep we've been on the soy/dairy allergy train since 3months. Does he have any reaction to the soy in your diet when you breastfeed?

  • No I haven't noticed anything when I eat soy.  @winnie1122 but I'm wondering if I should stop eating it anyway since he had a reaction.  He had a bad reaction  to eggs too a month ago or so but I still eat eggs and don't notice anything.
  • @kmurdock925 I'm glad it's nothing more! That's what we are dealing with here too. I hope your LO gets over it quickly!
  • @arhodes6 Thanks!  Hope everyone gets well at your home as well!!
  • Sorry I've been MIA on here lately. I have a lot going on at home and work but I'll try real hard to do better.  :(
  • I've also got a strong-willed child who legitimately throws tantrums--face on the floor, crying, kicking, then pouting. He's so much fun, but my goodness is it exhausting...
  • Ugh so kid #2 confirmed is allergic to amoxicillian too. So mad I didnt want to even give this to him.  He has full on raging red rash all over his entire body.  He is trying to itch and shakes and screams. It started up on Sunday..the oral steriod seems to kick in after a few hours and gets a tad better but then wears off and were right back where we started.. weve been doing benedryl too to help with itching..  My other son had this but it wasnt as bad..I just want him to get better.  Has anyone else experienced this and have any other tips to make him more comfortable? How many days till hell get better... ahhh.

@Heathereaddy Oh no!! I'm so sorry. That is really hard. It is stressful when you go down to one income especially unexpectedly. Do not feel too much mom guilt (though it will be hard). Try thinking of the extra time your hubby gets to spend with LO while he looks for work.
As for finances, if you run into trouble, I know most companies would rather some money than no money. Often, if you call them, they will accept a partial payment and put you on a payment plan for the rest without you getting late fees or getting shut off.

    More re hugs and prayers!
  • Sending lots of creepy stranger hugs to you! And ditto about most places taking some money over none. Especially if you contact them before it gets too bad. Most places really do want to work with people.

Could you try any type of cortisone cream or an oatmeal bath for the skin? Poor guy! That sounds horrible.

  • @Heathereaddy
sorry you ladies are going through those things! Keep chugging!
  • @john5111 @Heathereaddy I'm sorry you're both going through that. Try & remind yourself that it's only a temporary situation...(I'm gonna throw in a cliché) this too shall pass. Hugs to you mamas!
  • @Heathereaddy I'm so sorry you're going through it. I agree that you should call. My husband was unable to work for a momth last year and our car loan, credit card and student loans all gave us like 3 months forbearance. We just needed a month. We're all hear to talk. I know how stressful it can be.

@john5111 I have an allergy to amoxicillin too. I was super nervous about trying it on baby J for her ear infection. Luckily she was fine. When I break into a rash allergy, cortizone helps a lot.
  • Thx guys yes I just have to tell myself hopefully its only a few more days..if you just saw him it would break your heart.
  • Ugh, @john5111! I am so sorry to hear that. Sucks that your instinct was right, too. Poor little guy. Hopefully it leaves his system soon!!!

@Heathereaddy I'm sorry to hear about your husband's job situation. I hope something comes his way soon!! I agree with PP's about maybe contacting groups you make payments to and seeing what sort of special arrangements they're willing to accept. I haven't tried to use this but I swear at one point one of my credit cards sent me some "special notice" saying that if you show proof of a layoff that they'd be willing to give you like a 3-6 month break, no questions asked.

I feel like at one point Easter baskets were discussed? Of course I'm always a last minute Lucille, so now here I am thinking about it, lol. I was going to get her a touch and feel bunny book, a transition sippy cup, some fun new food pouches, and maybe a spring outfit? Anyone else have other ideas?
  • Wow I feel like the only one with a still-stationary baby! She's trying really hard to crawl but still only making backward progress. I'll enjoy the calm before the storm :)

@mnkenned Nope, still got a stationary baby over here too. She does manage to pull herself up if whatever is close to her. But if it's out of her reach the item is dead to her.  She can just sit in the same spot and play with the same items with no desire to reach for anything else. She won't even go backwards. It makes me nervous, but at the same time I'm enjoying it while I can.
  • Thanks ladies for your support and advice!  <3
  • @babycakesday that's cute! I think the knots on the end would appeal to Q. Thanks!
  • We definitely use a lovie.  I had a few different types and she certainly showed me which one she preferred.  I ended up buying several of them so I always have one around and in case it gets lost or damaged or something.  There is one in the diaper bag, in the family room, and in the glider in her room for bedtime.
  • Lovey here, too! She's LOVES it! It's really cute to see her snuggling it on the monitor.

Huh...AJ doesn't use a paci, doesn't suck his thumb, and hasn't attached to a lovey yet. He does seem to like his blanket at daycare. Am considering putting one in with him in his crib
  • @LDSJM123 that's adorable

Yea...so apparently I conked out at my desk yesterday. Boss saw and I'm being reported to HR and at the very least suspended until HR decides if they want to fire me or not...I guess none of these Fers have had a baby...
  • @FTM53 Oh no!!! I'm sorry. Ugh that's so frustrating, I hope HR is a little more compassionate. Hugs!
