Re: March Randoms

  • Ahh that's over touch thing sounds like me. We were 100% of the time cosleeping which also made it impossible. We're transitioning him to the crib so I'm hopeful that we will get that part of our marriage back. I also had a high sex drive but it's at like negative 10 right now haha. Now DS is sick and more clingy than ever so that doesn't help at all. We will get there...we will get there haha.

  • Happy International Women's Day! An organization I'm a member of delivered a rose to all of their members today :)
  • DS and I are heading to the doctor tonight. Fortunately she had one late appointment available. I thought he was just having a rough teething time but I suspect he has a ear infection. My poor little guy feels just awful. Stuffy nose, watering eyes. We've spent the last few nights sleeping upright in bed because of his symptoms. I feel so helpless.

Well I just put baby J down after battling a cold all day. I took maybe five steps outside the room and she began to choke on her vomit. Ugh! It's gonna be a long night because I doubt I'm ever sleeping again. It took DH about 30 minutes to convince me to put her back down in her crib.

@DachshundMomma Ear infections are the worst! Hope he feels better soon.
  • Positive on the ear infection. We've started a course of antibiotics for the next 10 days. We have had some sleep tonight. Granted he's not in his crib and we're propped up in bed but sleep is sleep.

Poor little guy. Ear infections suck and are the worst. Hopefully the meds kick in quickly.
  • @LDSJM123 I hope so too. He's struggling to nurse and get comfortable. It's awful
  • @DachshundMomma If the meds work as quickly as they did for S he'll be back to himself in about 1-11/2 days. We just started meds on Monday night for an ear infection and yesterday were back to our happy, smiling self. Good luck!
That's what our pediatrician said as well. He has been happy but you can tell he's definitely not feeling well. We stayed home from the gym this morning to prevent his nasty cold from spreading, though I'm sure that's exactly where he picked it up lol. Hopefully we're on the upward swing of things.
  • omg..i thought i was nuts not wanting to be touched.....he's been so patient but anytime he wants to hug me, e.g. while i am washing dishes, i get mad sometimes like, "uh, don't touch me" i have absolutely no libido and have to get "into it"
I also hate being the dominate one in the bedroom and wish he'd get a clue man! LMAO

  • @shanparadise - that is amazing news!! WOO!!!

If you haven't tried, nurse him, with him sitting up stratteling a leg. When they lay horizontal it applies pressure to the ear. It helped M.

I will have to try that. The difficulty has really been the fact that he can't breathe out of his nose. It's awful.
  • @DachshundMomma ear infections are the worst. Just watch for diarrhea.. E had it the whole time she was on the meds, even with a probiotic, and got the WORST diaper rash ever. It's been almost a month since she's been off the meds and the rash is still coming and going despite our best efforts.

    @shanparadise YES!!! Great news!
  • Anyone else having difficulty getting all the nooks and crannies of their pump clean? I've soaked it in hot soapy water overnight, used a bottle brush (the skinny end), and short of getting new stuff, I'm kind of at a loss. I have a spectra.
  • Yes I was having the same problem last night @ldsjm123 and I settled for good enough....  Maybe not the best but I couldn't figure out how to get a better clean.  I have a medela.
  • Work just invited me to a conference at Disney in May.  It is an amazing opportunity, huge keynote speakers but I feel so guilty for 1) leaving my husband right after he gets home from his deployment, 2) leaving DD for the first time, and 3) going to Disney without her...

    #momguilt
  • @kmurdock925- don't feel guilty! That is an amazing opportunity and DD won't know what she's missing. DH is going to CA for work. He has a conference Monday- Friday. I'm going with him for 2 nights with DD2. I feel a little guilty not taking DD1, but she's not free to fly and she'll have fun with her grandparents. It'll make it lots easier for me! I can't wait!
  • @holly142 - very true- she will have no idea!  Maybe I can convince him to bring her down and I'll stay  an extra day and we can go to animal kingdom or something fun...I forgot to mention the trip is over hubs birthday, lol.
  • @LDSJM123 I had trouble cleaning the nooks and crannies of my dr brown bottles. I let the parts soak overnight in a diluted solution of vinegar and that did the trick. I washed it after like 2 times to get of the vinegar smell, but it wasn't that bad.
  • Boiling them seems to work for me!

the diarrhea is awful. It's a constant battle of "did you just toot?" And "do you need a clean diaper?". Cloth diapers just make it that much more interesting. I've been watching for diaper rash, which hasn't been an issue yet. He's super sensitive to it so I won't be shocked if we get one.
  • @DachshundMomma yeah her pedi told us to "watch for runny stools"...ha. Understatement, lady.
  • Anyone have super sleepy babies lately? Not that I'm complaining, I'm just curious if it's related to something. He has been taking extra long naps the last week or so and last night he fell asleep at 5:30 and didn't wake up until 5:30 this morning. Then he went back to sleep until 9:30 after I fed and changed him and let him play a little. He's been sleepy and a little cranky since he woke up, and now he's asleep again. I'm enjoying the extra time to get stuff done, but it's very unusual for him. He did get his first two teeth in this week and he's been crawling a lot, so maybe it's just the extra exercise and the teething wearing him out.

  • @LDSJM123 Having the same problem here, I sanitize my parts in a microwaver steamer (I believe munchkin makes it) and I soak them in hot soapy water for 5-10 minutes, that usually gets them clean.
  • Has anyone attempted to wash the straps in their car seat? Ours are starting to smell a bit unpleasant. I started to take them out and stopped. I was too afraid I wouldn't be able to put them back in correctly and we'd be SOL using our car seat. I settled for washing the shoulder cushions and headrest.
  • @TiffRox81 i haven't tried. Our manual didn't say how to remove them.  It explained how to remove everything else so I just let them be.

Is anyone's LO not sitting themselves up still?
  • @babycakesday - mine can't go from lying to sitting on her own, if that's what you mean. She can sit on her own if you put her there, though.
  • @mnkenned Yeah same here. She can even pull herself to standing. Just unsure if it's a problem.
  • @babycakesday S doesn't go from sitting to crawling or crawling to sitting yet and she hasn't pulled herself up either. If you hold her next to something she will stand and hold onto it but hasn't gotten there herself, yet. A little girl that used to be at S's daycare turned 11 months last week and just started pulling herself up - everyone goes at their own pace. I'm wondering when S will do the transitions back & forth but until it happens I'm not too concerned because now I've got a window I can run to another room while she's sitting and not have to worry about her escaping :)
  • I have wondered the same thing about he car seat straps! There has to be a way... right? I was really hoping to reuse the seat for the next baby if we have one. @TiffRox81
  • That makes me feel better. I like knowing she isn't going to pull herself up if I leave her laying down. But a lot of my stroller strides group said their kids were already doing it so I was curious if I was alone.

Well Baby J and my hubby both got better this weekend. It was just me left.  2am rolls around and Baby J wakes up screaming bloody murder until she just is so exhuasted she passes out. Turns out she has ear infections in both ears. I thought we were in the clear....

@LDSJM123 I really think so. I made some good progress taking pieces apart before I got scared. We have the Chicco KeyFit30. I think I'm going to do a little online research. Once we move to the convertible seat, I'm going to be more daring. I'll keep you posted!

I'm worried we're joining the ear infection gang! :( Poor baby was a little fussy in the shower last night, which isn't normal for her. Then after the shower, she seemed fidgety with her right ear. Sleep was terrible! My husband (who spends the most time watching her on the monitor) made a comment that she was pretty restless. She woke up at 11pm and I could tell was trying to go back to sleep, but not having much luck....so I rocked her for a while, and we ended up giving her some tylenol. That wired her up for a bit!! But she eventually fell back asleep probably around 12-12:30am, and was back up around 5am. Nursed, and she went back down. Again, restless though. She was at least still sleeping when I left a little after 7am! However today my mom said she's shown none of the signs. For those of you that have experienced ear infections, does any of this sound par for the course? I assume irritability is constant?

ETA - My husband thinks her teeth could be bothering her. She is getting 4 right now. They've broke the skin though...just working their way down. He wants to start giving her the binky again at night. I was so happy she ditched it on her own, I'm afraid to bring it back, haha!!
  • @TiffRox81 we have the chicco keyfit too. If you do it, let me know how it goes. I'm goving mine to a good friend who is having a baby in september. I'd like to clean it for her.

Hopefully it's just teething! Baby J gave up.the pacifier on her own too. We've tried giving it back and she refuses it. So maybe if you do try, she won't care for it.
