@TiffRox81 We haven't had an ear infection yet, but a couple months ago I thought for sure he had one so I took him in and the doc said teething pain can kind of radiate up into the ears or temples so that could have been why he was acting like his ears were bugging him. He grabs his right ear a lot for comfort now for some reason, which he started doing around the time I thought he had an ear infection too. Hope it's just teething for you too!

Anyone else dealing with nursing piranhas?! Ouch!!! How do you teach them not to bite with those new sharp teeth? He thinks it's funny because I freak out when he does it (involuntarily) so sometimes I think he does it just to get a reaction from me. It hurts so bad!

@winnie1122 Not nursing here, but my friend's kid did this too. I think they think our reactions are funny. Baby J bites my fingers and laughs. My friend would pull him off immiediately and tell him no. I don't know how long it took, but it worked. She's still breastfeeding him and he's 14 months old. No more biting. (He had like 8 teeth too.)
Im just trying to end my breastfeeding journey but yes when he gets teeth hed bite me and id scream..ive been told its worse as the teeth are coming in and to say no firmly and theyll stop..; It was another reason for me to motivate myself to stop.
winnie1122 my daughter does this with her right ear too! She is constantly playing with it and tugging it. She has for several months now- a bit more recently. My father in law even noticed the other day. She isn't showing any signs of not feeling well, and she has done it for a while. She almost always has her finger in her mouth chewing on the back part of her gums on that side so I'm attributing it to teething.
My breastfeeding journey ended a long time ago so I have no input on teeth but I do agree that those little suckers hurt when S bites! She bit my Dad a couple weeks ago and he's usually "Mr Nothing Hurts Me" and he cried out with a quick "ouch!" and S laughed about it! I was laughing just based on my Dad's reaction because it's about time someone else gets bit besides DH & I
No teeth yet, but DS still bites and tries to use my nipple as a teether. I pull him off and put the boob away for a few minutes. But he does laugh if I yell out - little sadist
This was just a topic of conversation army breastfeedng group! The general consensus was to keep finger right by baby's mouth to unlatch, try not to have a HUGE reaction, say no and put the baby down for a few minutes.
Haha the hard part is not having a big reaction, it's so involuntary. But I have tried not to laugh and have said no as firmly as I can to his cute face. It is scary letting him keep eating after a bite though since I'm on edge the rest of the time. I'm surprised he hasn't drawn blood, I had a really dark bruise on one side last week though. I'll have to remember to keep a finger there though @austinjl

I guess I have a very polite nurser!! I felt a difference when they started coming in, but not anymore. Only twice did she start nodding off and kind of bite down. Sooo....now I'm more careful about watching for her to get tired and pull her off for a second, haha!!
8 months and still nursing but no teeth here yet. One thing that several of the moms in my breastfeeding group recommended was pulling the baby into your boob when they bite and that's more of a nuisance to them than being told no and making them sit without it for a minute. It doesn't hurt them but it makes them want to unlatch and is uncomfortable enough that they'll associate the two together and stop. Worth a try
@austinjl I'm with you on breath stinking. Every once in a while I notice S has some pretty strong morning breath, especially when she has a stuffy nose. My random for today. I've been back on the same pill I was before we started trying for kids and the other day DH & I decided to have sex without a condom "because that's one thing the pill is for". Now I'm sitting here with all pre-period feelings of grossness with the little nagging voice in the back of my head wondering if my period is going to come. I did not miss this drama of womanhood...
I had no idea that swim diapers do not keep pee in, just poop. We start swim lessons on Saturday and I was talking to some mom friends at work and the topic came up. They put their kiddo in their swim diaper before going and ended up with a carseat soaked in pee. I googled it and sure enough- they only hold poop. Who knew?!
@kmurdock925 lol I took L swimming this past Saturday and thought about the swimmy diapers but didn't purchase them. I ended up slapping a regular diaper on. Thank GOD he didn't poo and find out if it held or not He hated the water btw....
We used a reusable swim diaper with DD1 because disposable swim diapers are so expensive. Thankfully in the 30 or so times we used it she only pooped in it 1 time. That wasn't fun to clean up. I have lots of respect for you moms that cloth diaper! I always waited to put it on her until we were ready to get in the pool but still was peed on 1 time.
@kmurdock925 we had an hour and a half session of what they call "open swim" but probably stayed in about 40 mins. He was starting to prune up toward the end. There was a birthday party sharing the pool so he seemed more interested in the kids than swimming....there was a little boy who kept going under the water and would pop up with a mask on and it was so fascinating to L especially when he would "disappear" lol He seemed so confused. But the little boy loved that he was so interested in him...it was pretty adorable As far as the regular diaper holding up...it did great! No mess at all! I think it was a huggies.
So...I've been considering have a milk bead (jewelry made from my breastmilk) made to commemorate BFing for so long especially while working and having the plague for 3 months. Does that sound weird?
To Mommies wondering about cleaning car seat straps. The straps should never be submersed in water. Your manual should advise on specific harness cleaning. But in general, they advise to take the straps out, use a damp cloth and gentle soap (think neutral pH, baby soap, dove etc) and then use the sun to dry and help eliminate any remaining smells. Hope that is even slightly helpful!
Are you getting holes in your jeans from playing on the floor so much with your LO? Well, I found the solution for us! I just found these "Clear Knee Mom Jeans" for sale at Nordstrom. You too can own them for only $95!
Lol. I'm curious if Nordstrom will actually sell any? Im dying over here laughing at them.
I know it's the end of March, but it still seems like so many people are getting sick. Do you think it's too late to get LO a flu vaccine? I think I'm just terrified of him getting sick...
Q has had this cold for almost 2 weeks and a cough for almost a week. It's now a wet cough because he has a lot of draining mucus and he is coughing so much that he is throwing up! This started Friday when we were out to dinner (of course) and I got projectile vomited on. And he has done it multiple times since. The ped said he isn't contagious, doesn't need meds, and it will clear up on its own but that it may take weeks! I feel so bad for my little dude, but he is also being the most cuddly baby ever. I'll be excited for him to feel better but I'll be sad when the snuggles end.
That's awesome!! F is constantly standing up in his crib now, but he doesn't know how to lay back down gracefully. Anyone else have this problem? I don't know what to do when he stands up except go in and lay him back down...Do I just let him figure it out on his own? He's still wearing a sleep sack too which doesn't help
M has been standing in her crib for about a month now, and we just let her figure out how to lay down on her own. Honestly never occurred to me to go in and lay her down. She just sleeps in footy pjs with a onesie underneath.
Ugh- pretty sure we are about to join the ear infection club Her spirits are good but she has a super wet cough, snotty nose, watery eyes, sneezing, and has 2 fingers in her ears all the time Have a call into the pedi.
My husband woke up yesterday not feeling great. I woke up this morning feeling some of the signs. I'll be SO SAD if I got his cold....and even more sad if he's passed it to baby girl, too! Ugh!! We've done so well avoiding a sickness.
And for those inquiring about teething and nursing, I'm here to tell you I retract my kindness comments. The top 4 teeth that had all been coming in are clearly very IN, and SUPER PAINFUL!!! I had to break out the lanolin again. Even pumping was difficult, this morning! I don't know that it's anything she's doing "wrong" that I can correct...they're just so sharp!! And my poor boobs are having to adjust to 4 new ones at once, so that probably isn't helping.
Re: March Randoms
also, sometimes I think his breath stinks

My doctor just suggested me getting one last week, because I haven't yet. So it might not be too late baby.
I'm sorry Q is so sick! Poor little dude. Enjoy the snuggles.

M just stood up from the sitting position in the middle of the room and held it for a solid 7seconds!! Holy smokes.
I think we're starting to teeth again. Between the cold then the ear infection and now this, I'm feeling super drained.

It saved me in the early days, when I started pumping 5 days a week, and I'm expecting a Hail Mary from it when M cuts teeth.
