Robeez probably are the same as the moccasins. I recommend pediped or stride rite shoes! DD1 was in physical therapy so I'm picky about shoes. No shoes are best, but for when you need shoes, these are great! Very flexible soles :)

  • Awesome! That brand was one of the ones I was looking at too. I read that hard soles can be difficult when they're this age but soft soles with some traction seemed hard to find. Those are too cute too! @holly142
  • Anybody using the graco 4 ever?  I'm wondering if I need to use the body pillow and head pillow.  Elijah hates feeling too squished but if I take those out there's a red hook that doesn't have padding on it which is kind of weird.  The manual is not helpful about this issue...
  • Elise just cut her eye teeth before her front teeth. Anyone else's baby looking like a vampire?

also, anyone still struggling with poor body image?? Between the 5-10 extra pounds, postpartum hair growth, bags under my eyes, and acne coming back I just feel so gross.
  • totally looking at pediped now
  • @shaylalr You're definitely not alone! I may be in the same clothes I was pre-baby but they definitely don't feel the same and my stretch marks really bug me even though I'm the only one to really see them. I feel like there's such a target on women to see how soon they can get back to "pre-baby" size or smaller. I've lost most of the little self-confidence I did have and I've recently noticed small "bangs" growing at across my forehead. Moral of the story? Don't worry. I'm in the poor body boat with you!
  • @shaylalr yes to the body image struggle. Between the stretch marks, weird baby-hair horns, and belly pooch I just feel like a mess all the time. I'm at my PP weight (which is 10-20 pounds more than I wanted to be even before baby) but I still only fit in one pair of my PP jeans, and none of my dresses. It's definitely a struggle, but it helps to know I'm not alone. I've been trying to consistently do my workouts, and they make me feel better, but I'm not seeing results quite yet.
  • Definitely battling the baby hairs all over my head, plus the continued shedding and massive knots that I get from having my hair up all the time. I considered getting a hair cut just to clean things up, but I doubt it would help much and I don't want to spend money. Oh well! I do try to put real clothes on and makeup(ish) most days of the week to make myself feel human, even if I don't have time for a shower. Which is embarrassingly often, haha.

Has anyone done anything to pad the rails in the crib? P keeps bumping his head on them when he rolls around in there or sits up and falls over. Sometimes I go in there and he's fallen asleep with his head or face pressed against the bars, which does not look comfortable. I just worry about him hurting himself. I thought about maybe getting pipe foam insulation sleeve things to put on the bars, but I don't know if he'd try chewing them off or ripping them and eating pieces of foam.... I've seen covers on Amazon but they're expensive!

With you all with the body image issue. I just feel gross and icky all they time. I'm still 12lbs up from pp weight, and most of my pants are 1-2 sizes too small. Hubby asked if I wanted sex this morning. I didn't. I feel awkward and I jiggle and i feel sweaty and smelly. He thinks I don't want sex with him. I feel bad and that just ads extra yucky feelings.
  • I've always been a bigger girl, buy man I just feel like no mattet how hard I'm working I'm still up 20 lbs from my pre baby weight. I have stroller strides in the AM, 2 mile walk and a p90x3 workout before bed.  Nothing changed on the scale or my body. Still jiggly to the max. Plus I have stretch marks popping up that weren't there before I gave birth.
  • @holly142 Happy belated birthday!! :)
  • Thank you!
  • Anyone feeding LO DIY baby food...you know the "clean" method without all the processed junk in it? DH and I started clean eating last week and I want to start LO on my own baby foods so I know they aren't processed. I've read on pinterest about blending and freezing fruits and veggies in ice cube trays for baby servings and ideas of that nature which I like. LO seems to like the sweet items such as bananas, apples, pears. He's moderate with pumpkin, sweet potato. He absolutely hates chicken, beef, green beans, peas. Are there any ideas with making him possibly liking these items he's not too keen on eating? I've already tried mixing the sweet stuff in with the "bad stuff" or reintroducing him but to no avail. I also want to know how you let them try beef and chicken as the stuff he has tired was jarred baby food like gerber and I can see why he hates it so much....that stuff is nasty! I'm thinking perhaps a low sodium broth with some boiled chicken blended up and perhaps some carrot puree to sweeten the mix?

  • I use the bookWholesome Baby Foods for recipes.  Making the food has been really easy so far (I dislike cooking) and it lasts forever.  Haven't tried meats yet though.  Good luck!
  • LDSJM123 - I am also thinking books and maybe a busy bee type toy.  She loves spinning things and it will help with her pincer reflex...is that considered a reflex??  I'm glad you said that because I want to look for a really nice basket.  Growing up I had the same basket every year...still have it so I want to get a nice one.
  • Haven't tried meats but I'm tempted to start! I've been doing ok at making foods for her. By ok I feel I could do better by getting more creative each week and changing things up. Sweet potato and butternut squash are always on the menu. Along with applesauce, lol. I did buy blueberries, kale and zucchini this week. And I think a couple other new things. She will literally eat anything so I'm lucky there. I started a Pinterest board for recipes. Maybe I need to revisit that, haha! LOVE that you found a good line of premise food, @LDSJM123!! There are definitely times rabbit some of those jars would be more convenient but the unknown extra ingredients are always what's stopped me.

@LDSJM123 when AJ didn't like something, I tried cooking it a different way. He never liked puréed food, but will eat most anything roasted, soft cooked, or fork mashed. He HATED puréed broccoli. I couldn't get him to eat it with anything, but steamed or roasted in pieces and he gobbles it up. As for meat, slow roasted in tiny pieces that fall apart or ground meat is what I've fed AJ.

Easter baskets!! You guys just reminded me that I'll need to start that! Yay!!
  • I make the majority of her food myself. Buying organic stuff and making purees that way. Only things I haven't are cereal, prunes and foods not in season (mango ect)
  • I have a preference for Beech Nut and Earth's Best, but I do use the Gerber products when there are no other options at the store. I realized C does not like things with funky textures, but other then that she is a savage when food is given to her. As for meat, I have not done purees, but I have done ground chicken and ground bison, slightly seasoned and cooked thoroughly through and C loves it.
  • I'm with @LDSJM123 on the beechnut. I do a mixture of blw/pureed. I make most of it at home except for pears, prunes and their random mixtures. Its easier when we go out to take these. I also use their mixtures for ideas on making my own. Baby J has liked almost everything.
  • @LDSJM123 We haven't really tried table food yet other than eggs which he didnt like at all...I'm guessing texture may freak him out too but thats a good idea to maybe mix a puree with something we may eat! Thanks love!

  • We eat mostly clean. With a family history of cancer along with personal digestive issues (Ulcerative Colitis) I'm very careful about what we eat. About 80% of what DD2 eats is fruits and veggies prepared by me, 15% meats prepared by us and 5% processed food. DD2 does not like being spoon fed so I give her little pieces of our chicken, steak, ground turkey, etc. With DD1 I made my own purres and froze them in ice cube trays. It worked well. Since we always have produce on hand, it's really easy just to cut what we are eating into skinnier pieces for DD2. Plus it gets us to eat more produce! DD2 needs to eat, I guess I'll wash and cut up strawberries, apples, and cucumbers for her... and some for us too! Now don't get me wrong, we eat unhealthy things too. I get tired or don't have time to cook sometimes. DD2 has had pizza crust, teriyaki chicken (I rinsed it off for her because I didn't want too much sodium for her), French fries, etc.
  • @mnkenned Love those!!! I'm going to look into that. They'd make cute gifts for some of my expecting friends too.
  • @TiffRox81 - I actually made an extra set for my friend due this weekend
  • Tardy to the party regarding self-consciousness:
I, like many of you, am uncomfortable with where I'm at physically. I was uncomfortable before I got pregnant and now it's just worsened by the mom pooch and the forever tired look on my face. We still haven't had sex. I'm so not into it. Not that I'm not into my husband but it's hard to feel sexy and desirable, yuh know? Fortunately DH is understanding, for now. Some of my mom friends here said they got right back into it, some not even waiting the 6 wks PP. Geesh. Definitely not me.

I too read all of that! ^^  And my OB confirmed. She even compared it to menopause in a lot of ways.

That overtouch thing was so me the first couple months. For me, (I've always had a high drive) the initial handful of months, I found that if I could get my head in the right place, my body would follow or vice versa. Which felt like work at times, but was always worth it ;) As the months go on,  I slowly feel like I'm getting my old ways back, so hang in there, but also don't be afraid to put some work into it (and yourself!) to get you to a place where you're ready for it.
